01:05Tom Stortman, Paddy Hanes and Shane Flowers,
01:07and today, we get the chance
01:08perhaps for a fourth...

01:15Now, four years ago, Luke came here to Sacramento hoping to take
01:16the strong man world by storm,
01:18only to see his hopes derailed by injury.
01:21injury well now the man they call the future is back back in the sack back on track and hoping
01:27to put his injuries in the past it's been a long hard road for me to get back here if i'm being
01:38honest my last world's strongest man was in 2021 i unfortunately told my vice been the first event
01:44of that from there on it's got worse and worse and worse
01:50five surgeries in the last kind of four years from then it's been tough life's been tough but i'm
01:56tougher as i was loading the last stone at europe's strongest man it was like a five-year
02:04snapshot reel went through my mind there's not many times that i sit there in my feelings and
02:11my thoughts and really think wow you've done something amazing here but that was an exception
02:16for sure
02:16i'm a man who won't take anything lying down you know i've hit things head on and i think
02:26you know that's kind of what strongman's all about and it's a brutal sport it's a sport for
02:30warriors and i'm still here i'm not going anywhere
02:34eddie hall great to see luke richardson back how big a prospect was he when he first came
02:46through and how tough is it now for him to come back after that many knocks
02:50he was an amazing prospect i mean he won europe's strongest man at 22 years of age and usually
02:55people that win europe's strongest man half the time going on win will strongest man um he's had
03:00six surgeries in the last five years big injuries as well so that's six months recovery six months
03:06unable to train six months unable to compete six months lost experience each time that's a lot is
03:12lost out on other guys in this group have also had injury issues trey mitchell for example
03:15last year we saw doing effectively the competition on one leg is he the biggest threat to luke this
03:21time around i would say yes i mean last year he came in six months after a full achilles rupture
03:26and he did pretty well so we're a year on from that he's back up to full strength and some so trey
03:33is looking really strong at the minute okay heat force stands ready let's find out more about them
03:37with our commentators danny wallace and colin bryce well thank you james thanks little eddie
03:43and here are our competitors for heat fall from canada the wolverine it is of course maxime boudreau
03:52the young czech andre foitu just missed out on a final in his debut last year
04:00from saskatoon saskatchewan world's strongest cop tristan hoeth
04:08the big texan the big thicket trey mitchell twice fourth of world's strongest man and two
04:17times europe's strongest man his third appearance here the brit luke richardson
04:22and event one the loading medley colin yes if you've seen the other heats it's all about loading
04:31sacks four of them into the back of a cybertruck
04:33up first then luke richardson
04:43game of speed this game of heft some of these sacks very awkward indeed
04:48trey mitchell he's used to this kind of thing a former farmhand
04:52you certainly expect luke richardson to be making the running here he's uh very athletic very
05:00dynamic mitchell gets a good pickup on the first one and in it goes and it's neck and
05:05neck at the moment richardson on the far side there man handles the second sack and he's
05:10got a lead yes richardson has the speed mitchell perhaps the experience
05:17oh no this doesn't look good that's a look that says it's happened again isn't it
05:27yeah he's motioning in his right bicep there it was his left bicep here in sacramento
05:31a few years ago that that popped oh goodness me he wouldn't have stopped unless it was bad
05:36trey mitchell trying to finish off here 40 seconds you compare that to the other heats the best were
05:43winning in around about 38 but good times somewhere in the 40s and he does that 49
05:48well trey mitchell completes but what has happened to luke richardson this could be a disaster
05:54well it was the face of a man who knows he's just had a fairly major injury
06:00but he's been there before there was no panic in his face he just is another six months of recovery
06:08if it's uh what he thinks it is hey ladies and gentlemen put your hands together show your
06:13appreciation for luke richardson heads of course suffered bicep tears it's uh the battle scars that
06:23you get from the operation this is a very common thing you see in strongman
06:26bad luck well trey mitchell manages four in 49.38
06:35so that's our benchmark for the others
06:39oh fully partial
06:43it's that bitter experience
06:47knows exactly what's happened
06:50partial tear rather than a full tear
06:57we have to wait to find out more on that but andre foitu
07:01all right next pair
07:03west the check will be paired
07:07against tristan hoess from canada
07:11finished fifth in his debut in 2024
07:15so impressive
07:19on the whistle
07:20cop from canada
07:21he made the final he had to call up the police department where he's from and ask him to have a
07:27little more time
07:28then finished fifth as well i mean really impressive across all different disciplines
07:34he's very talented all-rounder but right now it's foitu
07:37he's very much making the running
07:38he's speeding along isn't he foitu
07:40needs to make an impact quickly
07:44he's doing that
07:46loaded three going back for the fourth and he's
07:50put in a good solid sprint there
07:5235 seconds to go so far
07:59it's 49 seconds for big trey mitchell in the first pairing
08:05that was about 42 that's very quick
08:07and hoess
08:09won't beat mitchell
08:11oh he hasn't exactly packed the back of that truck well he left himself a wall to get over
08:16there that's the man who doesn't do the shopping at home
08:19well hoess manages four in 51.6 seconds
08:25he goes into first at the moment we still have a singleton to come
08:39for andre foitu
08:41five in each heat of course
08:42he didn't struggle at all right now he's leading the way
08:51yes foitu with the fastest time but once again luke richardson with a heartbreakingly early finish
09:01the loading race continues with maxime boudreau when we return
09:04welcome back to the spd world's strongest man
09:18it's group four it's group four where luke richardson has once again been forced to withdraw from the competition after a partial detachment of his bicep in the first event
09:27it's a case of history repeating for luke who suffered the exact same fate four years ago
09:35luke honestly i don't know what to say this feels like a very unsettling case of deja vu
09:41yeah i am really good at tearing my bicep off in sacramento apparently in old town sacramento
09:46it was the first event last time as well in 2021 i tore my left bicep and then now i've
09:50tore my right bicep i remember chatting to you back in 2021
09:54and it was so gutting then we all had our eyes on you within this event it looked to be going so well
10:00and then it all changed yeah it's just that's life innit i'm a positive person obviously this stings
10:06it'll probably sting a lot more later uh physically and mentally but
10:10yeah i've got some tough decisions to make um see see what you know i've been fine the last few years
10:17you know i mean i've got laura i've got my dog now i've got my family and friends um life's pretty good
10:22i'll be honest uh it was different last time to this time so yeah i'll make my mind up what i want
10:27to do and go from there and this is the thing luke you're a strong guy in more ways than one you talk
10:32about the physical and the mental it's been a journey for you hasn't it since 2021 to come back here
10:37and show what you're made of yeah obviously i wanted to come back here and get some level of
10:41vindication because this is where it all started to go wrong for me uh in 2021 that's kind of when
10:45the series of injuries started and it's just unfortunate that i've come back here and i seem
10:50to have continued on the same trend but like i say that's life you know you get knocked down you get
10:54back up and i'm sure i'll get up from this one as well so keep going that's the thing and that's what's
10:59inspiring about you thank you so much luke and take it easy that's all right thank you
11:09well he's a battler luke richardson we'll see him again and boudreau no stranger to injury either
11:16since we last saw him in 2022 he's broken his leg torn his left lat and torn his left bicep
11:24but it's amazing what super luke can do
11:31danny's joking kids yes yes to be clear i'm joking
11:35well boudreau onto the second sack quick on his feet
11:41that's very quick indeed onto the third one so far so good
11:46chasing down the best time 42 on just over 42 seconds
11:50well as boudreau approaches 30. he's got this final awkward sack to lift much more awkward
11:58now it's going to be close hoisted that up quickly he's got quick feet it's going to be very close
12:05well too close to call goodness me
12:09he could have slipped up tripped up anything could happen there he was gambling the lot he knew it was
12:17going to be tight let's have a look at the time from maxine boudreau well four in 42.81 the second so
12:26close just three tenths of a second behind the check 42 with 42.55 who takes the loading medley
12:39andre congratulations on winning your first event thank you thank you very much how are you feeling
12:43going into the competition this year because you narrowly missed out on the final in last year's
12:48world strongest man didn't you yeah i was really nervous especially with the competition that's here
12:53luckily i got my parents in the stands they're supporting me for this year for the first time
12:56at worlds so i need to make them proud what are the expectations and the plans going forward this
13:02year this year the goal is to get to the finals and then just have fun afterwards and get ready for
13:07next year and what about the change in in the format is that going to adapt your strategy somewhat
13:13uh sort of but the strategy is to do the best in every event so i don't think it'll affect me that much
13:18keep it up well done andre thank you very much the youngest man in the field top of the pile ahead
13:25of boudreau mitchell and hoth with lou richardson now withdrawn on to event two and it's a duel on the
13:33deadlift 350 kilos to wait 60 seconds to complete as many reps as possible no one's beaten eight so far
13:40at least but to see how group four do over to colin and dad the canadian tristan hoeth she knows
13:51up against trey mitchell from the usa familiar face here at world's strongest man
14:00very good deadlifter as well so too hoeth though i saw that in the final last year
14:04now colin explain the complicated rules here well you you grab the bar stand up with it put it back
14:13down again thank you very much and mitchell is doing that hoeth as well down matching each other
14:21down well we've seen from the other heats that have gone before seven often a winning number but
14:28we have seen eight reps as well mitchell it's like a forklift truck and he just up and down no problems
14:36already on to six
14:40mitchell found his rhythm hasn't he yeah you don't want to you don't want to stop either because if
14:45you stop it's very unlikely you'll start again we could see nine here hoeth struggling a little bit
14:50but mitchell does nine i think yes he's been given it could we have double figures he's got time 15 seconds
14:56to go well look at this from trey mitchell locks out that is double figures that surely is enough
15:05for him well remember he's going to be compared to all the other firsts and seconds the qualifiers from
15:12the other heats and that could well be just about the best we'll see in deadlift from any heat that
15:17was extraordinary poet too though eight reps from hoeth in any other heat my goodness that would be so far
15:25that would be the winner yeah and he just uh he's in the shade of trey mitchell here and you saw it
15:32ladies and gentlemen with ted if anyone can trey mitchell can 10 reps what a marker
15:43the farmer from texas certainly over his injury woes that he had last year looking unbelievably strong
15:51look how brawny he is never seen a thicker man in the chest all right
15:59representing canada bear to tear your eyes away from trey mitchell here's maxime boudreau
16:08deadlifting is one of his weaknesses actually
16:10andre foytu
16:17that's the dunas the viscous four times world's strongest man enjoying the sights
16:23he's taking a picture of himself
16:24so footy down we drove to the right quick start from footy a new boudreau would struggle here he's
16:37got one he'll be pleased with that means he doesn't zero in here and out
16:41it's shakier finding it more difficult it is hot
16:48big breath in at the top he doesn't want to lose his form at the bottom
16:54then here we go no no he didn't take it that time that's him that's done
16:58well five for foytu
17:02half of what mitchell managed boudreau kind of relieved to have just done one
17:08i mean it's sensible if you think about it it doesn't zero out in the event and uh
17:12you knew he wasn't going to do much more so why why tire yourself
17:18well foytu takes third five reps pretty solid for him he's not known for his dead lifting
17:25he's really known for his pressing and of course that's coming up next
17:33well foytu and boudreau's struggles there underlining how impressive
17:36hos and mitchell's performances were in that event an exhibition of deadlift and fresh from
17:41that monster 10 reps the man they call the thicket is with michelle now trey we can see you gave it
17:47your absolute all in that event did you feel like you were going to dominate this yes uh deadlift is
17:52one of my favorite events and i'm really good at it uh i was aiming for nine to ten reps and really
17:58happy i you know wasn't really counting you know kind of just went uh into the zone and just tried to
18:04maintain a steady rhythm and just the last couple of reps like a kind of losing a little bit of gas
18:12and so just ran out of time for that 11th rep didn't really know how many i was doing so just
18:17was kept on going until i ran out of time well you're clearly looking good i mean if reverse back to
18:22last year you were still suffering from your torn achilles how's training been this year are you
18:28feeling injury free like a couple of times i've had some tweaks here and there in training so was
18:34it was a little worried especially on deadlifts you know tweaking my back a couple of weeks ago but
18:40getting some body work here and there like made me made me come back and like have the confidence to
18:46be able to push it in this event and what's the strategy going forward have you got your eyes on some
18:51of the events in the final that you're feeling pretty good about yes i believe the final events are
18:56are really suited towards my uh strengths like um we got the max 18 inch deadlift really good and
19:03really good at the overhead pressing and hercules hold is a really good event for me you know so i
19:08think i can really push that for you know top three in that event fingers crossed we see you there well
19:13done trey yeah thank you so much michelle praise 10 lifts him now into a tie for top spot in the group
19:19with andre foitu still with just two points separating these four men the destination of the qualifying places
19:25is a long way from settled the texan well texan's stopping but what twist will our next event throw up
19:33coming up for this awesome foursome it's the overhead medley when we return on the spd world's strongest man
19:46welcome back to sacramento the state capital of california and this week the seat of real power
19:51with the spd world's strongest man squirrel next up for our men in group four is the overhead medley
19:58four different implements they must be pressed overhead for a combined seven reps in just 75 seconds
20:06first out in the sacramento sun maxine boudreau and andre foitu two masters of the discipline speaking
20:12which over to colin bryce and danny wallace well thank you james maxi seven reps in total
20:23well it's fair to say boudreau will be looking forward to this tremendous presser and so too
20:27colin foitu two massive power pressers in these two canadian record holder in the log boudreau and
20:37world record holder at a junior level in foitu so stacks of shoulder power here how will they go on
20:45with his 90 kilo dumbbell first
20:52to be able to balance and hold it two reps on each implement except the last one which is the 168 kilo
20:58accent rolls it up the chest boudreau just hoists it 150 kilos easy for foitu you look very strong there
21:11this has proved to be uh quite a test this circus bar belt 350 pounds
21:22a very thick bar as well a little bending it bounces around of course he gets hit with it there got to be
21:30careful as you drop it that's for sure he drove for the second rep and for the axle a single rep only
21:37can he do it under a minute 42
21:42he manages it well that's terrific from foitu now boudreau still a little time
21:52he'd rather save his energy could see that he wasn't going to do it in the the time remaining
21:59he knows when he's beat it's a big ask to lift that axle
22:03even just uh on its own never mind what was done before it in this medley we drove six and 57.99 seconds
22:14and foitu
22:15and it is all seven of course just over at one minute
22:23but i mean we could forgive that and if he makes it into the grand final that'll be a good score
22:29only stoltman tom stoltman and mitchell hooper from the other heats have bettered that
22:34representing canada another canadian the world's strongest cop tristan howarth
22:43represents the texan trey mitchell
22:51that's a lovely character here at world's strongest
22:55yeah big thicket as he's known great presser
22:58of course howard is proven to be a really a tremendous all-rounder
23:06perhaps the medley setup suits someone like him a little bit better
23:10down down under the log
23:18trey mitchell
23:19no problem it's like he's pressing nothing over his head it's just so easy for him
23:26that is extraordinary that's like the weight of
23:29two men just pressing it above your head it's just like nothing for him onto the circus barbell so
23:36far so good for the texan gosh just bouncing it off that power belly and rolling it up
23:41he's got good flexibility as well sitting on his chest almost there
23:47excellent two done one to go just the axle for him can he beat foitu's one minute
23:56definitely has the power belly ledge to do it well it's going to be tight he does lock out
24:02the official time there is hoist
24:08five seconds to lock this one out pushes through manages it just in time
24:18just in time magnus definitely gave him the down signal
24:21he'll be credited with six lifts but seven lifts for the texan very impressive there you go six and
24:27one minute 13 for the canadian once again grinding out a good result but what about trey mitchell did
24:34he do enough to beat foitu three tenths of a second slower oh what a shame he was so quick off his chest
24:43i thought he was going to be much slower brought it very close at the end
24:47let's just have a look at that axle again that was so impressive from the chest upwards like it was
24:56nothing you could have done 30 40 kilos more with ease well what an impressive group of pressers
25:05foitu takes first though mitchell just behind
25:08three events into heat four then and that's how they stand top two looking good andre foitu and trey
25:20mitchell trey particularly looking good in that deadlift earlier on eddie event two i know you'll
25:25have enjoyed that thoroughly enjoyed that 10 repetitions at 350 kilo that is on par with the
25:31best it's ever been right who i might just be looking at i'm not sure hey andre foitu for all of that is
25:36actually a point ahead of trey mitchell and beat him so narrowly but still beat him in the overhead
25:41medley yeah i think it was like half a second in front of trey but trey has been the best at overhead
25:47events for years at will strongest man so for andre to come in and beat trey i think it's a big
25:51statement he's just 23 years of age he only just missed out on the finals last year is he going to
25:56do it this time i think so i think that extra year experience that actually you're building that
26:00strength up it's all you need he's well placed as we head into event four which is the titans toss
26:05dani and colin well thank you james and yes they could have called it sack attack
26:13or sky bags but no they settled on titans toss and that's what
26:19tristan hoeth is going to have a go at right now
26:22those two people couldn't make it
26:29and boudreaux will be going head to head against him
26:36we'll have to consult you on names next time thank you that was impressive i like those sky bags
26:42but it's titans toss folks and the first pair from seven meters out
26:47they're about 30 pounds 14 kilograms
26:52each time you've got to launch them over the uprights so far so good for our pair of canadians
26:58boudreaux of course has had a share of the world record in the keg toss so he can really launch it
27:07very explosive those men really going for it having to adapt their technique as they get further and
27:14further away oh it's come up short there that's criminal damage
27:22boudreaux's done nine for 10 out of 10 for boudreaux
27:25here it is and he gets it that's 10 for boudreaux a full house
27:32and that ladies and gents is how you sky bag or sack attack well i'm trying to get people used to
27:43the title for next year because i bet it changes so seven in just under 30 seconds for tristan hoeth
27:51but it was boudreaux who shone in the sack attack with 10. there's only one man who's done better
28:03than that but there's only one man who's done all 10 across all the heats and that was tom stoltman
28:08shows you how impressive it is definitely took his time with the last one very deliberate got it over
28:16representing trey mitchell's turn it's the big thicket trey mitchell the big thicket always sounds
28:24a bit like an insult to me but he's very happy with it unless he's seething there and andre foytu
28:36yet to be nicknamed just 23. baby you can give him one i'd love to at some point i'd like to share
28:44the checkpoint so let's see what's going on you could shout foytos could do
28:52the second pair both of them trey mitchell a bit of a bigger longer pull almost too much energy
28:59wasted on these early ones for him and oh foytu makes an error he's a little sloppy there and again
29:06and again goodness me foytu's not going to finish with a good result in this one oh trey mitchell
29:11bounces it over both men really struggling with this struggling to get the trajectory right there
29:19both of them i won't be able to say checkmate yet that's three for foytos and eleven point four one
29:29not his favorite event definitely the wrong tactics he he knew he wasn't particularly good
29:34at this he should have just taken the first five or six really slowly and tried to get them over
29:41well doubling foytos scored six 27.22 he's not delighted about it
29:49no i think trey mitchell knows he could have done a couple more there were a few sloppy misses and again
29:55probably just rushed it for that round of sky bags tightens things up again in this group maxine boudreau
30:04taking maximum points he's our third different winner from four events he celebrates now with michelle
30:12maxine i mean you really set the pace with this event how important was it for you to dominate
30:19well i'm in third place right now so i need that win to get ready for the stone off i was expecting to
30:24see you on event one but it is what it is i just keep playing keep working and let's climb up to
30:29get to the finals now this place is a hole i mean it holds good memories for you in fact it was in
30:34sacramento that you reached the final is that the goal for this year yeah it's a plan to make the finals
30:39it's a lot the weather is a lot nicer this year than it was three years ago and i'm just really happy
30:44to be back after two years missing for injuries well it's great to see you well done maxine perfect
30:49thanks a lot guys well just three points now separating these four men with foito and mitchell
30:55level boudreau just a point behind and hose close behind him which of the four will be heading to the
31:02grand final it's all about what happens next in the stone medley hard rock action when we return on the
31:10the spd world's strongest man welcome back to sacramento california it's the conclusion of group
31:24four with young czech andre foito and texan trey mitchell leading the group level on points
31:29but two canadians tristan hoof and maxine boudreau just a stone's throw behind and the decider is the
31:36natural stone medley four rocks of different sizes shapes and weights to be pressed shouldered carried
31:42and loaded inside 90 seconds let's rock with colin and danny thank you james so yes the natural stone
31:53medley ready hoeth first to take on one of these extremely heavy extremely unwieldy stones he has to
32:05press this over his head that's the trickiest bit balancing it all these guys can press over 120
32:14kilos some of them with ease so anyway he gets through onto this very awkward shaped stone he's
32:22got a hoik to his shoulder and it's almost 350 pounds 160 kilos nigh on
32:29bergen arm out and drop it you do the arm out to prove you're in control and it looks fabulous it does
32:39yes now onto this unwieldy stone based on the famous icelandic stone yes the pusefeld
32:48now 400 pounds of stone round the barrel and back and that's the third section over with and then you
32:57go on to the final big tombstone at the end uh dropping slightly but it's fine just clinging on by his
33:05fingertips there 20 seconds has he got the energy to do this as you heard he's now got under 20
33:11seconds to get this up i think he's tombstoned always grinds out results can he do it no not this time
33:24well didn't manage the tombstone tied out by the carry i think three in 104
33:33certainly puts out a good marker for the others we've seen from previous heats that's very impressive
33:44very few have made it to the fourth implement
33:53representing canada maxime boudreau fellow canadian boudreau highly experienced
34:04on the whistle the wolverine
34:08nice two points ahead of hoeth coming into this
34:12wants to get a clean press straight away oh chucks it up yep just threw that up
34:19very impressive at what cost though i don't think that's a joke
34:25seeing stars here the heat of sacramento
34:29all the previous events have taken their toll probably not exactly the thing you want to do
34:36at this moment is lift the stone to your shoulder that weighs 160 kilos nearly to be clear these are
34:41already quite exhausted men in the heat on a black surface trying to lift extraordinarily heavy things
34:49how did you do it suddenly just dawned on me well boudreau probably having many of the same thoughts that
35:00you've just verbalized questioning his life choices right now what led him here
35:05the strong man's not going to be easy here we go sacramento the place he came third at world's strongest man
35:14that was four years ago but i'm not sure he's going to make the grand final at the moment with two men still to come
35:19time is ticking away and his energy seems to have gone what about his spirit
35:31not enough
35:35couldn't even get it off the ground in the end totally exhausted gave it us all great in the press though
35:41wasn't he absolutely threw that up there nearly lost consciousness but that's one in just under 10 seconds
35:5242 then
35:56he's hoping to cement his place in the grand final here
36:00he knows that if he goes ahead of boudreau on the whistle that's uh two up that's absolutely guaranteed
36:07and then of course how far can he go to try and get points towards that grand final that's what this
36:14is really all about now very impressive he's a great presser this is much much heavier though yes
36:22and much more unwieldy as well we've seen competitors struggle to even work out how to get it off the
36:28ground he's got his technique hug it i like it yeah he went around the narrow section that worked really
36:35well good for him he's obviously thought about that a lot absolutely he doesn't have the wingspan of
36:42a tom stallman why try and grab it the long way but for him now then the hoosevelt section section three
36:48yes a mighty chicken nugget
36:56that took a lot of energy just to try and bring it up to his chest rather than just getting going
37:00that may pay off he finishes this i'll tell you that's fast as well i don't think he's going on
37:08to the last section is he he's done he's done well that's him in the final colin yeah great effort
37:15tremendous effort and with a good score and this as well
37:18just 23 the youngest man in the field the youngest man in the final
37:30his parents behind there the check flags are flying great moment for them
37:35and you know what i don't think we've had a check in the final before
37:39i don't know let me check checkmate colin so yeah i've got to say it in the end trey mitchell then
37:48expecting good things from him such a great mindset on the whistle and just sheer power as well
37:58when it comes down to sheer horsepower trey's your man
38:06leans backwards it looks awkward it is awkward he gets the press magnus fair magnus is happy
38:13he's not waiting around magnus to give that signal he realizes quite how difficult that is
38:21nice and slow nice and deliberate
38:23oh look at that he picks it the long way up and twists it as he's pointing it up to his shoulder
38:32very impressive power now then the who's of help he's just got that walk hasn't he trey mitchell that
38:37walk that says right what's next what needs lifting what needs carrying that's the walk of a man with 40
38:44inch quads it's a unique one
38:47it's a good time so far he is tiring
38:54but again that walk what's next what needs lifting
38:57200 kilo stone or nearly 200 kilos about 430 pounds of tombstone
39:07oh come on trey mitchell
39:09nails it with time to spare yes absolutely one minute 13 and a half for trey mitchell
39:20and i've been checking no pun intended
39:23from this man final the last check competitor we had was nemic in 1998 didn't make it through the
39:28final so 42 is indeed the first check in the final and he'll be joining trey mitchell
39:38well after missing out last year good to see the big ticket back in the final again making his fifth
39:44appearance there remarkably he's the first american to make it through so far this year meanwhile as we
39:50heard also going through from the group for his first appearance is young andre foy too what a
39:55remarkable campaign he's had and he's with michelle now good job
40:03andre congratulations on making your first world's strongest man final how you feeling thank you very
40:08much it's it's i'm just really happy it's a it's a great feeling to bring you the first man from the
40:13czech republic to ever make the world's strongest man final and yeah it's just happy you know it can't
40:18really put it towards what i'm feeling right now i mean clearly you are physically strong but from a
40:23mental point of view what does it take to to have that preparation the resilience to secure your places
40:28as a finalist well everything i think the mental aspect of the sport is a bit more important than
40:34the actual physical aspect so keeping the heads cool and really focusing on the goal is just it's just
40:39what makes a good athlete so what is the next step now then andre have you got your eyes on the podium
40:44well i would be lying if i did in the back of my head but for now the the goal is just to have fun
40:50tomorrow and after tomorrow so we'll enjoy it and congratulations again thank you very much
40:56so making history for the czech republic 42 he'll be cheered on by his beloved cats gg and oliver
41:03before taking on trey mitchell in the final a growing threat a man who's been to the grand final before
41:10he's finished fourth twice is this the year he steps up onto the podium trey mitchell back in the
41:18final where you belong great to see you there thank you so much for having me i'm really looking forward
41:22tomorrow i've got to say we saw you last year struggling with that achilles tendon nowhere near
41:27your best it's been such a tough road to recovery for you yeah you know last year at world strong's man
41:33it's only six months post uh surgery so wasn't 100 and so like all last year leading up here was just
41:39uh you know revenge arc you know just going like oh i gotta gotta get back to 100 even more 110 to get
41:46as strong as i can you know always looking to get to the next level and like prove that you know even
41:52if i get injured i'll still come back and he has yeah he has i mean 18 months on from a full achilles
41:57rupture is incredible to be back top 10 in the world i've got to say mate you're looking absolutely
42:03astronomically big well you've got to be over 400 pounds no actually i'm actually lean i'm uh 399
42:09yeah 375. 375 last time i weighed myself i could have waited a little bit more from getting all the
42:14snacks before the concession stand trey you've missed out twice on the podium here at world's
42:20strongest man two fourth place finishes are you going to make it this time and what would that mean
42:24uh yeah i definitely think i'm ready for a podium finish this year and that's definitely a
42:29culmination a highlight of the you know my career right and make that come back worthwhile yeah
42:35exactly excellent trey congratulations only two more places left in the final to be filled we'll see
42:39how those go next time out in heat five it features luke stallman looking leaner and possibly meaner
42:44than ever before but he's in a group with evan singleton and pablo cordiaca so he's going to have his
42:49work cut out if he is going to join his brother tom in the final 10. we'll see how they get on
42:53next time on the spd world's strongest man and next time is tomorrow at 7 30. that's only if bruce
43:02willis can save planet earth in the blockbuster flick armageddon tonight at 10 30. next back to
43:08large muscles and a huge personality we celebrate jeff keeps britain's greatest strongman brand new
43:14after the break
