00:00Welcome Strongman fans and those with no other particular plans.
00:24Here's something you may find entertaining.
00:25It's day three of the SPD World's Strongest Man.
00:29We're in Sacramento, California, where already days one and two have been raw and they've
00:33been primal as four men muscled their way into the final.
00:38...time and reigning SPD World's Strongest Man representing Great Britain, Tom Stoltman!
00:50Yes!
00:51We have played games!
00:53Whoa!
00:53Through to his first SPD World's Strongest Man final, it's the singing Strongman, Eddie
01:01Williams!
01:04Through to the World's Strongest Man final, let's hear it from Mitchell Hooper!
01:12Through to his very first SPD World's Strongest Man final, Paddy Hayes!
01:19Thank you for joining us today!
01:29So, Eddie Hall, the first two groups here in Sacramento have been absolutely stacked with
01:33former finalists, but today's set features some very interesting, fresh faces.
01:37Yeah, we've got two new guys, Lucas Hatton and Rayne O'Neill.
01:41Now, Lucas Hatton has been competing at some very high-level competition in Strongman.
01:45Came second at the Arnold Classic, which is where the top ten guys in the world go to compete,
01:49so that's a very good steed.
01:51And then Rayne O'Neill won the SCL, which is the Strongman Champions League.
01:55It's like the League One in Strongman, but usually guys that win that tend to do very good at this stage.
02:03And he did that despite only taking part in three of the 12 competitions, so must have something about him.
02:09Well, aside from Nell and that Manhattan, what about the chances of Britain's Shane Flowers becoming the third Brit in the final?
02:15Last time he was here, three years ago, he dropped an anvil on his foot in the first event and broke it.
02:21Can we expect better this time?
02:23Yeah, Shane Flowers has had a bit of a whirlwind the last few years.
02:26He missed one year at Will's Strongest Man because of the birth of his son.
02:30He missed the second year because ten days before the final, he ripped his bicep off the bone and had to get reattached.
02:36So, he's taken about six months to recover from that and about six months good training.
02:41He came second at Britain's Strongest Man.
02:43If you're coming to the top two in Britain, in my opinion, that puts you at the top ten in the world, no problem.
02:47Okay. Wow. Add a two-time runner-up in Mateusz Kieloszkowski into that mix,
02:51and you've got yourself a very interesting Heat three.
02:53Let's hear more about them now with our commentators Danny Wallace and Colin Bryce.
02:57Well, thanks, James. Thanks, Eddie.
02:59And yes, what a groove this is.
03:02First time traveling to North America for Rayne O'Neill,
03:05two-time Africa's Strongest Man and a former rugby player.
03:09From the US, it's Lucas, the hit Manhattan, making his debut two times America's Strongest Man.
03:16The Ghanaian gladiator, second time at World's Strongest, Evans Nanna.
03:21Mateusz Kieloszkowski, the mighty pole, twice second at World's Strongest Man.
03:26And completing the line-up from Britain's Shane Flowers.
03:30Flower Power, he calls himself.
03:32Might need a stronger nickname.
03:34So first event is the loading medley, Colin.
03:38Sacks, a sack fest.
03:40Four of them have to be loaded onto the back of a Cybertruck.
03:44The United States of America.
03:45Well, they call this guy the hitman.
03:47On account of his side hustle in assassinations.
03:52And Flowers is back, Colin.
03:55Yes, it's great to see him back.
03:57It's been a while now.
03:58He's been out with different injuries.
04:00He's got a great opportunity and he's in great shape.
04:04On the whistle.
04:06And all of these weigh around about 130 kilograms, just under 300 pounds.
04:12Or about maybe 22 stone.
04:16So pretty heavy.
04:17Not the easiest things to carry either.
04:19They can slip out your hands.
04:21Neck and neck at the moment.
04:22I'm impressed with Hatton seeing as he's got such enormous legs.
04:26This is fast for both guys, especially in this heat.
04:29Different techniques though, moving up to the shoulder for Hatton.
04:32It's definitely quicker just to carry it in your arms.
04:35But it can be tiring, especially on this last one.
04:38If you try and do that.
04:39Kicks and turns.
04:40That's really quick from Flowers.
04:42Well, it was.
04:43It's a risk to pick it up and turn.
04:45Both men doing it.
04:46Flowers faster.
04:47Nice.
04:48It's a very awkwardly shaped sack.
04:51And the Husserfeld stone.
04:53And about 47, 48 seconds there for Hatton.
04:56And we saw from the previous heats with the likes of Mitchell Hooper,
04:59Tom Stoltman, 38 seconds.
05:0148 seconds was the very best for those two.
05:04So, remember, this is compared to the other heats
05:07if you qualify through to the final.
05:09Well, four in 48.09 for Lucas Hatton.
05:13With four sandbags in a time of 40.13.
05:16But a good time.
05:18Shane Flowers.
05:19He seems satisfied.
05:2040 seconds.
05:24Yes, indeed.
05:2540 seconds is excellent.
05:26Very close to Stoltman and Mitchell Hooper from the other heats.
05:29Not sure there was much more there, though.
05:31Good job.
05:3241.
05:33Representing South Africa, Reino Nell.
05:36So, Reino Nell.
05:38That mighty chest.
05:40In lane two.
05:41Representing.
05:42Against an old hand.
05:43He's been appearing at World's Strongest since 2016.
05:47Kieliszkowski.
05:48This should be fascinating.
05:49Kieliszkowski is incredibly quick.
05:50But Reino Nell.
05:51He's almost an unknown quantity.
05:52We've heard so many things about him.
05:53Two times Africa's strongest man.
05:54And he's only been in the sport two years.
05:55Oh, absolutely.
05:56He's doing very well here.
05:57Very fast turn against Kieliszkowski.
05:58Who's just about never lost a loading event in his life.
06:00This is really impressive from the South African.
06:02Well, Nell's off.
06:03Kieliszkowski just behind him.
06:04You can tell.
06:05Nell used to play rugby.
06:06And Kieliszkowski is a...
06:07Oh, that's a fumble there.
06:08That's a fumble there.
06:09That will cost him greatly.
06:10What an error.
06:11Now that Flowers did.
06:1240 seconds just over.
06:13This is going to be tight.
06:14And Nell needs to get ahead of that.
06:1540 seconds.
06:16Is not going to do that.
06:17But he's nipping the ball.
06:18He's not going to do that.
06:19But now he's not going to kick his ball.
06:20He is going to take it.
06:21And Kieliszkowski, Kieliszkowski is a fumble there.
06:23He's got a fumble.
06:24And he's got a turn.
06:25He's got a turn.
06:26He's got a turn against Kieliszkowski.
06:27Who's just about never lost
06:28a loading event in his life.
06:29This is really impressive from the South African.
06:31Well, Nell's off.
06:32Kieliszkowski just behind him.
06:33You can tell.
06:34needs to get ahead of that 40 seconds he's not going to do that but he's nipping at flowers
06:40his heels as kieliszkowski finishes be disappointing for him
06:48yeah massively disappointing for kieliszkowski that was just a total
06:53was just switched off for a second i don't know what he was thinking he's furious at himself
06:57and actually a bit of speed up on the last one
06:59well an unhappy kieliszkowski four in 46.28 and with four sandbags in a time of 42.3 and a couple of
07:08seconds behind flowers reyno nell you know he grew that mustache this morning reyno shines but flowers
07:17blooming good and in the lead in event one up next though hey na na it's the self-proclaimed
07:23usain bolt of strength can he go fastest we'll find out when we return
07:38welcome back to the spd world's strongest man where brit shane flowers is in the lead in group
07:43three just one man left to run in the opening event the loading medley evans nana from ghana back to
07:48colin and danny well thank you james yes cutting a lonely figure having to compete against no one
07:58being the solo evans nana from ghana calls himself as james mentioned earlier the usain bolt on the
08:05strong man it can be a little hit and miss evans certainly very fast at uh moving events like this
08:13completely the world's strongest man last year that was his debut didn't make it to the final but
08:19this is certainly an event that suits him he's very quick through the first two sacks
08:25he's only been competing in strongman since 2021
08:30already made a real impact with the other athletes and now now we see the usain bolt of it
08:37the speed back to the final sack
08:39well marginally slower than usain bolt i was going to say marginally slower but if you can
08:45let him off well the 40 seconds of shane flowers has come and gone he's not going to win this heat
08:51but it's solid yeah good time for evans nana
08:58around about 44 seconds 44.9 for evans nana puts him behind reyno now but ahead of kiliskowski
09:08yeah i would have said kiliskowski and hand with the two favorites for this heat but right now
09:13they're fourth and fifth this man in third yes while the favorites flounder it's flowers
09:18who's off to a flyer picking up his maiden event win at world's strongest man he's with michelle
09:24now shane the last time i saw you was back in 2022 you're in an ice bath with a broken foot
09:35is it good to be back i knew he was going to bring that up um it's really good to be back you know
09:39three years later in the same city um to win an event that cost me so much three years ago really happy
09:46and i just need to keep building on this now um i know i know that my finalists have got it in me so
09:52i just need to show the world that i can do it this is the thing isn't it but it's been a long road
09:55it's been quite the journey for you to get to this point yeah it has obviously 20 20 22 went completely
10:01wrong um 23 i missed due to the birth of my son 24 10 days out from the show managed to rupture my
10:08bicep off the bone so i've not had much luck but i'm here now i'm in great shape so let's do it tell
10:15you what you seem incredibly focused and as it currently stands your third overall what's that
10:20doing to the confidence levels just building and building you know like i said i've not had much luck
10:25so when your backs against the wall it's hard sometimes and there's been times over the last three
10:29years where i've thought about just jacking it in but i just took one day at a time and now i'm back
10:34so yeah buzzing it's fantastic to see you here well done shane thank you thank you very much
10:40shane flowers off to a great start in his quest to join fellow brits tom stoltman and paddy haynes
10:45who are already through to the final next up though for shane and group three it's a very different kind
10:51of test the deadlift for reps and if event one was all about speed this requires raw power 350 kilos on
10:58the bar 60 seconds on the clock our first was a man with static strength of plenty lucas hat
11:09hatton managed seven reps matching the mark set in previous heats by former champions tom
11:14stoltman and mitchell hooper that's the number for the rest of group three to aim for then as we
11:19rejoin conan and dan
11:26evans nana then
11:30i think two i think two
11:32best hatton seven reps so too kieliszkowski one of the greats kieliszkowski certainly one of the
11:44greats to never have one world's strongest man that's for sure he's right up there in that list
11:48it's good to have him back but this was always his achilles heel deadlift nana
11:52that's already another very disappointing event for kieliszkowski so we'll focus on nana
12:12five reps we've seen from the other heats that uh eight is about absolute max you can do in this it's a
12:20horrible brutal way that the bar doesn't bend at all very thick bar as well and
12:26from a very low height lower than you would in a gym seven reps could he do eight he's got time
12:31he does have time he does have time can he give us one more this heat of course not helping
12:44well seven banana ties in for first so far with hatton
12:48and it's effects doesn't it goodness me yeah that's knocked him for six
12:55try and get his suit off and uh get him breathing a little better but
12:59once someone stops they rarely get another rep seven though is very solid equals hatton
13:07with seven repetitions give it up for some oxygen will help him get back on it all that was fast
13:12goodness goodness me he's the usain bolton strong man what was in that he's a great showman he loves
13:20the crowd that's for sure
13:25representing south africa reyno to reyno now
13:29he's very fast in the loading medley representing great britain and back shane flowers
13:40after some recent misfortunes
13:46shane is a former commonwealth champion in powerlifting he has been one of the three
13:51disciplines of powerlifting so i'd expect him to do very well here but it's reyno now who's making the
13:57running down the unknown quantity banging them out here this is impressive from now
14:05he doesn't really know what his maximum is he's never really been tested yet he is
14:10fairly new to strongman this is his debut at world's strongest man and he looks great
14:15it has to be said often we see that when someone doesn't know what they're not supposed to be able
14:21to do they go a lot further than we think they can and he's doing that now yes he shouldn't do a
14:29but he can and he's done it my goodness me that's a massive total flowers trying to get the seventh up
14:36here can he get it up his quads no he can't so close there shane flowers
14:41well in powerlifting you'd have been told to put that down but in strongman that's fine you could
14:48jack it up but he didn't have the energy in the end so six reps for shane flowers
14:57but just incredible really from rayne o'nell surprised everybody eight reps
15:03well we've seen he's very fast and now we've seen he's statically very very strong too
15:08this guy's looking like an all-round package the south african an all-round surprise package
15:15he's eight reps equaling the best score we've seen all week they call him the rhino and right
15:21now he's with michelle rhino first time on the world's strongest man's circuit and you've just
15:28won an event how does it feel no it's amazing um i had a bit more for a loading medley so this is
15:34good redemption for me for myself and i know for you you grew up watching strongman to actually be
15:40here with some of the greatest strong men of all time what's that like for you yeah it's awesome i
15:45mean i don't get bigger than this i'm so so humble and so glad to be uh um taking in every moment it's
15:51amazing what's the plan for the next event i take it one event at a time so um next is the is the pressing
15:58medley i have a game plan not going to share it yet fair enough but yeah no i'll i'll just go out
16:04and give my best and do you have an overall goal for this year's world's strongest man have you got
16:09your eyes on the final yeah being it my first world's strongest man i think getting into a final
16:13will be a big achievement um so yeah that's the first box that i need to tick it feels like there's
16:19a lot of eyes on you coming into this competition does that add a bit of pressure do you feel like
16:23you've got a point to prove yeah look i come from a whole different organization there's only one
16:28other guy here that i competed against so i think i'm unknown but for me take it one event at a
16:34time and then maybe show the guys i deserve to be here well the best to look reino thank you so much
16:40reino the rhino currently on top of the standings two points clear of shane flowers
16:45in what continues to be a very surprising group the highly rated lucas hatton and matthias
16:49kilaskowski currently a long way off the qualifying positions up next it's the overhead medley can lucas
16:57and matthias keep up with the pairs can shane flowers keep his spot in the top two we'll find out when we
17:03return welcome back to the spd world's strongest man next up for the strongmen of group three it's the
17:16overhead medley this test of overhead metal literally with four different implements for
17:22a combined seven reps and 75 seconds on the clock first out and in desperate need to point is poland's
17:29matthias kilaskowski over to colin and danny
17:32well kilaskowski could redeem himself here one of the most explosive overhead presses in the world
17:47yes he has to go on his own he was at last in the deadlift so has to come out first in this event
17:5390 kilograms overhead this should be no problem whatsoever for him
17:56he is one of the greatest dumbbell presses there's ever been that's for sure
18:03now let's see if he just viper yes he does just chucks it right from his hip up overhead
18:08no pausing necessary just straight up
18:13viper press as they called it very impressive now then onto the uh clean and jerk of this circus barbell
18:20he's struggling slightly here lacking the power belly
18:29he's the power baby doesn't he that's it for kilaskowski well something's not right here obviously
18:36not feeling himself yeah i'm very surprised you saw how easy it was for him to chuck that log up
18:40it's the time of 26.25 it's as if he just ran out of gas let's hear it from well four in 26.25
18:49i don't know what's going through his head
18:54representing the united states of america so lucas hitman hatton
19:00one of the world's greatest presses representing shane flowers
19:09he's having a good day
19:12he's feeling good
19:19looking forward to seeing hatton press the log
19:23one of the best log pressers right now out there if not the best just about
19:27down and uh very quick with that dumbbell wow that was lightning
19:38have some of that kilaskowski anything kilaskowski can do
19:46slower steadier
19:47now let's see how hatton deals with this circus barbell there's the power though
19:55up it goes look at that 350 pounds gleaned and jerked overhead with ease
20:03if he gets through this next one hatton he'll go on to the axle the end game monster if you like
20:08weighing 168 kilograms it's more like uh 365 pounds very heavy indeed
20:2075 seconds of which to do it he's still got time
20:22that was beaten flowers oh oh he didn't lock it out but he did lock it out but it was in front of him
20:39goodness me well five in 52.74 for shane flowers
20:51but one ahead lucas hatton six in 47.41
20:58i really thought hatton was going to do the final implement there such a great presser but all of the
21:03cleaning getting it to the shoulders is what tied him representing ghana it's ebans nana next
21:15getting the crowd on side always a good idea
21:19and rey no nail
21:22slightly more modest in his behavior he's a very humble fella but exceptionally talented
21:29so uh ghana against south africa right here
21:37it's fast from now i mean this is quite a technical event for a man who's
21:42not been in the sport particularly long he's just so talented at everything highly coordinated
21:47as well as ridiculously strong and straight back to the second
21:52well what's happening here almost doesn't make sense we're talking 150 kilos in the hand there
21:59that's a serious weight
22:04locks out
22:07already moving on
22:09you see how long armed he is as well that's a long old press daddy i mean he's pushing it
22:14great deal above his head there he's not built to be oppressive but he's good oh what a jerk now
22:20that's how to lift weights oh it bounced into him from the uninitiated what a jerk is actually a
22:27compliment
22:30basically using your legs twice driving and dipping in case he just tuned in and thought
22:35colin bryce had lashed his mind so nana oh it's unsteady that's a shame
22:42yeah he never had full control did he oh that's really bouncing around into them
22:49a little uncomfortable finish for nell but uh
22:53another consistent good performance
23:00well it puts him in second after hatton five in 36.81
23:04and we found third place as well in evans nana five in 48.91
23:16that's hard lines there for nana i mean if you look at it in slow motion it does look like he's
23:20locked out because he is but he was always drifting away he wasn't in control it was the right call for
23:25magnus i disagree
23:30the results for the overhead medley hatton hits back to claim a much-needed event win
23:35nell nana and flowers will put up five but not matthias kilaskowski who's return to worlds
23:40is not going to plan he's with michelle matthias everyone's been so excited to see you back here
23:47at world's but we know you've had a difficult time of it with the last three events haven't you
23:52yeah yeah i was very excited to come here but i don't feel don't feel well because i feel uh
23:57something like high temperature some fever uh here is very hot but i use long long sleeves
24:04i don't feel good right now it's bad luck for me but events events was fine i should be go final easy
24:11but it's not my time maybe next year will be better so tricky especially if you're battling
24:17illness and injury too yeah i come back after a very very heart injury last year i
24:23turned my achilles i not maybe 100 power maybe 80 is now uh but still i need to be very very healthy
24:32to compete the highest level here well you know what matthias there's so much love and respect for
24:38you here at world's strongest man and there are two events coming up that we know you're fantastic at
24:43does that give you hope that you can come back and put on a show you know i will do my maximum
24:48what i can possible now uh yesterday also overhead maddie i should win easy with total 25 guys because
24:55i am the best in the in the medley overhead but i can breathe i i don't have power i i feel cold all
25:02time i can't warm up if i do warm up i still have pain in my joints elbows and my knees so i will do my
25:11the best of course stone is 100 my event and i will push my body to to to limit to maybe win only
25:19one event and just satisfy my my mind little bit matthias we're all rooting for you and we really
25:25hope you feel better soon thank you thank you three events into heat three we've had three different
25:32winners so far but it's the not so little nell who's leading the way he's winning the deadlift plus
25:37second places in the other events means that he's three and a half points clear right now he's
25:41looking good eddie he's looking phenomenal but deadlift result was insane eight reps beating tom
25:47stoltman and mitchell hooper they only managed seven honestly that is within the best in the
25:52world at deadlift absolutely insane top two go through from this group currently shane flowers in
25:57fourth spot but he's only half a point behind second yeah shane flowers is doing really good
26:03titans toss up next so it's a good event for him he's got the world record at the giants live
26:07for the sandbag toss so it keeps him in contention to make it into the final this year excellent what
26:12has been spectacular to watch in the first two heats let's see how the titans toss goes this time
26:16with colin and danny yes the titans toss colin you're a titan so why don't you talk us through this
26:25well you have to toss 10 sacks over a bar and that you get further and further away with each pair of sacks
26:31they all weigh 14 kilograms found about 30 pounds and uh oh this is how it's done true test of
26:38explosive power matthias kieliszkowski had to come out first on his own having finished last of the
26:45previous event just seven out of the ten in 31.97 seconds i think you'll be a little disappointed
26:51with that especially when there's so many good throwers and athletes in this heat
26:56so an achievable benchmark from kieliszkowski then he's in seven
27:03it is a game of strength it's a game of physics
27:09you've got to get the angle right the angle of trajectory and it gets flatter and flatter the
27:13further away you get evans nana good thrower very explosive we know that but uh
27:18shane flowers as eddie touched on is exceptional at throwing taking it very seriously as well very
27:26focus flowers
27:40so far so easy for both men
27:44it's just gonna get tricky
27:45that's high and long from flowers as he moves on to the last one oh didn't get that one though nor the final
28:00so eight for flowers that's 12 meters away there for nana
28:03it's just not even close i'm afraid still six for him eight for flowers yes flowers moving into first
28:18flowers can't do all ten that shows you quite how hard it is
28:21so eight in twenty three point three eight
28:31that's a fast time for flowers and he wanted to be quick didn't he
28:38i'd expect him to be the best in the group unless kieliszkowski was firing on all cylinders which he
28:42wasn't seven for him eight for shane i think he'll be fairly happy with that we still have a pair to go
28:48so he might get beaten that's pretty solid representing the united states of america
28:54so hatton the hitman
28:59maybe not his strongest events we think
29:04reyno nell's wife they got married just two months ago
29:09this affected me their honeymoon i wonder how he broke that to her
29:13now that i expect reyno nell to be exceptional at this he's just turned out to be brilliant at
29:21everything hatton he's not exactly built for this at six foot short levers in terms of arms and legs but
29:26he's got some wild power too i saw him in the warm-up he looked very impressive and now
29:31very good indeed so far so good for nell and hatton well nell is taking no chances is he
29:41absolutely launching it over here but uh he's gonna get unstuck soon as he's getting closer and
29:47closer to the uh upright he needs to recalibrate and that wasn't it no and uh
29:54well hatton managed to hit it as well but got it over no no no wrong with hatton goodness me rolls it
30:02over the bar two in a row he did that impressive this might be a meter too far i think
30:09i'm not sure what that little dance was but i enjoyed it
30:11there's a man who knows what he's beaten goodness me well great work and hatton big surprise there
30:23i'm not sure this needed a replay yeah he's having a little joke with the referees who
30:29stopped him throwing them with one arm in the warm-up said no no that's not loud
30:34well that's 18 44.06 for lucas hatton and eight also for right now 29.41
30:43puts him in second that time matters now was very quick indeed he could have been quicker he
30:49definitely did a bit of ball watching as they went over each time he did what
30:57so third place for lucas hatton which keeps him in the qualifying picture
31:00reino now impressing again in second but it's shane flowers who takes his second event win he's with
31:06michelle shane another event win for you second overall in the group what's going through your
31:13mind i'll be honest i'm not happy with that i'm happy to take the five points and the event win in
31:19my group but i've done this event nine times now in a competition i've never lost never missed a bag so
31:24to break that streak sucks but i'll take the five points sat in second now going into the last event and
31:30i just want to get in that in that final so i'll take it and um i'll use any kind of aggression or
31:35mood that i've got onto the last event and i'll make sure i send it absolutely we look forward to
31:39seeing you in it thank you thank you everyone well with just one event to go it's rayne o'nell
31:45who leads the way on his debut three points clear of shane with lucas hatton shane's closest
31:50challenger one and a half points further back sad news meanwhile matthias kilaskowski withdrawing from
31:56the competition due to illness four men remain to battle in our final event for those two
32:03qualifying places we'll get rolling with the stones when we return on the spd world's strongest man
32:17welcome back to sacramento it's the conclusion of group three of the 2025
32:22spd world's strongest man two places in the grand final are at stake with just one more event to go
32:29the natural stone medley
32:33this a time trial of ancient origins features four stones of varying shapes sizes and weight
32:40to be pressed shouldered carried and loaded inside 90 seconds lying in fourth overall but still with an
32:47outside chance of qualifying evans nana the Ghanaian gladiator was the first man out
32:55sadly evans could only press the opening 123 kilo stone and that means his chances of progress are all
33:03but done
33:06hatton flowers and nell are the three remaining hopefuls two spots in the grand final are up for grabs
33:12who will take them to the finale of group three let's hand you back to colin and danny
33:21representing the united states well big things expected of lucas hatton
33:28extremely depressing yes well said and the first section of this stone medley
33:34it's really all about the press you've got this
33:37rectangle of stone up to your chest and then try and get your grip and that's the tricky bit
33:42if you can get that you'll have no problems throwing 125 kilos overhead
33:50and up it goes locks it out drops it shoulder carry
33:55over 150 kilos of stone up to your shoulder giant sausage shape he's struggling to get his arms around
34:09this it's very wide he's chosen an interesting way to attack it lengthways
34:14probably the best way to get it up to your uh thighs
34:23he's very sweaty here it's very hot and he's uh maybe just struggling a little bit with his grip
34:29you see he's got little tacky towels tucked into his socks this helps you stick to these stones a bit
34:34he's really struggling to work this out
34:41here we go tacky towels this is pine resin
34:46add a little bit of tack to the stone as he tries to grip it here we go
34:50remember he's got 90 seconds so he's starting to run out of time
34:53he's turned left he's he's beaten he can't work it out that's that but lucas happened one in 16.72
35:02ladies and gentlemen and then about a minute and 15 and looking at the stones
35:08yes i mean he just he just couldn't get it i think it's to do with the sheer width of it and let's not
35:12forget the weight of it you know it's nearly 350 pounds of stone it's awkward very wide
35:18well has opportunity opened up for shane flowers yes he also knows the parameters that opportunity
35:28comes in he's really got to do this faster than evans now now this first stone and that was around
35:34about 13 seconds so let's see how he gets on with it doesn't have much fumble time with it that's for
35:40sure he gets this up quickly he's in the final i think he's in he gets the down signal does he yes yes
35:48okay so shane flowers will be in the final of world's strongest man and now it's about doing as
35:56much as he can to get as many points as he can yes i mean the equivalent of the first event of the
36:01final is those who make it into the final exactly what they did in the heats so uh the leading man
36:07will start the final with 10 points do well here this is an awfully cheeky event
36:14wow wow did he get that not sure he did i'd rather like tom stoltman in the other heat he uh
36:22still feel a bit fade and went down that's a really hard event it really is that stone shoulder
36:28he's all right smiling and i don't think magnus is going to let him have another go i think that's
36:32probably it ladies and gentlemen through to his first spd well he did it from his bad final
36:39shane flower another brit's in the final shane flowers
36:45he did enough and he did it well and he's through to the spd world's strongest emotional whether he's
36:56still still seeing stars because right there he was almost out the game and uh ditched the stone he
37:02knew he was going down great moment there's his dad graham who's been to all of his big contests
37:08supporting him all along his journey and strongman big moment well done shane
37:21representing reyno nail then last to go now he's a smart man he's been studying
37:29ready yes sir on the whistle the maths computation of who's going to make it into the final and he
37:37can't miss out now he's absolutely guaranteed to be in but this about gathering points for that grand
37:45final now compared to the likes of tom stoltman and mitchell hooper who won their heats before him
37:52so we head into that a good result here he chucks that up like a sack of taste
37:57he's no problem at all that's what i meant when he's been studying he's been working this out
38:02and that was very easy for him
38:06reyno on the husveld stone now it's been made in a mold to be similar to the famous icelandic carrying
38:15stone around about 181 82 kilos 400 pounds and he finishes that with ease on to the big daddy at the
38:22end here the tombstone
38:28seen mitchell hooper do this
38:32goodness me see if he can match yes he can almost threw it over yeah
38:40that was almost 200 kilograms of dead stone so impressive well his own family seems stunned there
38:46as if they can't believe it either this guy is very special 62 seconds for all four is there anything
38:55he can't do he just seems to have all of the abilities needed for a top strongman he's going
39:02to be a danger in the final
39:06so it's reyne o'nell arguably the story of this year's competition so far who wins group
39:12three charging through those four stones in a little over a minute meanwhile an emotional
39:18shane flowers takes second spot and becomes the third brit to qualify for this year's grand final
39:23he's with michelle
39:27shane you did it oh god don't cry don't cry
39:31it's okay oh it's been my world's strongest man journey's been a roller coaster promotion um
39:40and they're harder by the fact that i'm really homesick at the moment um my little boy's back
39:46home he's not very well you know my missus is holding down before i woke up this morning thought
39:52and i'm gonna make the most of my absence and this opportunity i'm gonna make it worthwhile and i've
39:57done it so that's for you ronnie love you mate how incredible is that your family they're at home
40:05they're supporting you they are your motivation you've done it you've reached the final oh i can't
40:10believe it i've thought about this for three years ups and downs thought about quitting but
40:18because of my support network my dad
40:20my wife everybody everybody thank you this is for them it's not me it's all for them you can tell
40:30just how special this is the emotion is there are you going to be channeling that now when you go
40:37into these next events within the final yeah my body feels really good i've never felt this strong um
40:45the groups were harder than what i thought but this world's strongest man is undoubtedly the hardest
40:50year it's ever been it's the most competitive and to make my return to make the final on this year
40:56with that group i'm so happy and i'm revved up for the final you deserve it shane congratulations
41:02thank you thank you everybody i can't believe it so what a great day for a great britain shane flowers
41:11taking second place going to the final joined by that south african surprise the powerhouse reyn o'nell
41:19reyn o'nell congratulations you're through to the final and you're having fun yeah it's amazing i
41:23love the sport you're having an incredible year as well you got married what two months ago today
41:28uh yesterday was our two month anniversary amazing what do you make of this guy eddie he only started
41:33competing when two years ago phenomenal yeah you've been in the sport two years now yeah strongman champions
41:38league yeah i still count my marriage in mom so let's do it with strongman so i think it's two
41:42two years and three months two years and three months and you're here the world's strongest man
41:46top 10 in the world what aspirations have you got into strongman yes it's still new so i just take it
41:51next competition at a time i mean everyone wants to win the world's strongest man so that's the ultimate
41:55goal but i mean the path today i'll just keep on improving final events in the in the final good for
42:01you yeah fairly good um one event i've never done um but but yeah i'm positive what have you never done
42:08okay he's old herkley's all one of the best ones i've got to say rey not only are you through but
42:13you've done it in real style you kind of match the performances of two of the really big names who've
42:17already gone in uh mitchell hooper and tom stolman are you surprised at just how well you've been able
42:22to adapt to this level of strongman yeah we'll see i mean still five five events to go so i've never done
42:28as long of a competition but up to this point i'm i'm fairly happy with what i did yeah i'm not
42:33surprised congratulations we look forward to seeing you much in the final before that of course next
42:37time out we've got heat four and it's back to the future with britain's luke the future richardson he's
42:42back after four years away from world's strongest man can he get past though the likes of maxime boudreau
42:49and andre foyto and trey mitchell we'll be finding out next time on spd world's strongest man
42:54all that with james and the team tomorrow at seven here on five nicholas cage has a problem
43:02even bigger than his hair when his flight gets hijacked con air due to depart at nine after
43:08northamptonshire police interceptors getting quite a shock when a driver finally winds down the window
43:14in just a moment
