00:00Is there a drama with the Lakers?
00:02It certainly thinks so with the Lakers kind of being up and down
00:06over the last 10 or so games with a 5-5 record.
00:10But the best way to talk about this is let's lead off with some comments
00:14that J.J. Redick made after a 119-96 loss to the Houston Rockets on Christmas Day.
00:20J.J., as you talked about today's modern basketball,
00:24you guys have two days off, but I'm guessing you guys are only going to practice once.
00:27How do you improve on these things when you can't practice enough?
00:32Oh, we practice them all the time.
00:33Again, it goes back to what I said the other night.
00:35It's a matter of making the choice.
00:37And too often we have guys that don't want to make that choice.
00:40And it's pretty consistent who those guys are.
00:43And so Saturday practice, I told the guys, it's going to be uncomfortable.
00:47The meeting is going to be uncomfortable.
00:50I'm not doing another 53 games like this.
00:53And interesting comments from J.J. Redick.
00:57And I want people, you can go find this on social media,
01:00but a couple of years ago when J.J. Redick was an analyst for ESPN,
01:06he kind of went after Doc Rivers for Doc really making excuses
01:12and throwing his players under the bus.
01:14Now, did the Lakers rebound from that game?
01:17Yes, they beat the Kings 125 to 101.
01:21But, I mean, it's the Kings.
01:24It doesn't matter.
01:26To me, what's more important is the fact that J.J. felt it was important
01:29to throw his team under the bus.
01:31I don't think it works in the NBA, and I don't think it definitely works
01:34for an experienced team.
01:35Now, you're going to sit there and tell me LeBron James went nuclear
01:38on Sunday night.
01:39That wasn't being motivated by J.J. Redick.
01:44I think it was LeBron James shutting up J.J. Redick.
01:48And the tape shows urgency with the Lakers.
01:52They were struggling defensively.
01:54And it seems like their effort comes and goes,
01:57depends what's going on.
01:58Now they don't have Austin Reeves.
02:00And now they've got to rely heavily on LeBron and Luka Doncic.
02:05And they continue to try and find their identity.
02:09I know he's at 53, now 52 games left.
02:12The Lakers aren't panicking.
02:13They're just running out of time to fix all their issues.
