00:02 - Eggman, Anthony Davis gets paid a big time extension

00:06 for the Lakers big that sees him now in Los Angeles,

00:11 assuming he remains until 2028.

00:17 And by that time he is projected to be making around

00:20 $66 million a season.

00:24 You know, we didn't spend a lot of time on this show

00:27 talking about the fact that there was some,

00:29 there was an idea that maybe the Lakers were hesitant

00:33 on giving Anthony Davis this contract.

00:35 And overall, even if maybe they waited and hammered out

00:39 a couple of extra details,

00:40 clearly they were not too hesitant as they locked in

00:43 the richest extension in the history of this league.

00:48 So some of the immediate reactions from some people, right,

00:52 are to kind of, you know,

00:53 ah, the Jalen Brown contract that just came out.

00:56 Well, that's not a question, right?

00:59 Anthony Davis is better than Jalen Brown,

01:01 point blank period, no debate.

01:03 I don't even think your most ardent Celtics fan

01:06 would attempt to make that debate.

01:08 What they would maybe try and say is,

01:09 well, Jalen Brown, maybe we trust him to be out there

01:12 more than we trust Anthony Davis to be out there.

01:14 Anthony Davis, last season, second half of the year,

01:18 was finally healthy.

01:19 And it was a big part of the Lakers being able to make

01:24 the run that they made,

01:26 because they needed AD to be out there

01:28 while LeBron was not post deadline,

01:30 and get them into that seven seed,

01:32 get them through the play in,

01:34 and then allow them to make that run

01:35 to the Western Conference Finals.

01:37 And the health for Anthony Davis,

01:39 it's something that I have defended a bit at times,

01:44 and then other times found myself

01:46 incredibly frustrated to see.

01:49 Never frustrated at Anthony Davis,

01:52 that's for outdated 60 year olds who do not understand

01:57 that Anthony Davis wants to be out there as badly

01:59 as the fans want him to be out there.

02:03 Frustrated by the situation,

02:05 because the Los Angeles Lakers,

02:07 if health was there for Anthony Davis,

02:10 might have another championship on the table,

02:13 or at least an extra Western Conference Finals on the table,

02:17 and that minimum appearance

02:19 in the Western Conference Finals.

02:21 Because for AD, that is the knock, right?

02:23 But as it pertains to this contract here,

02:26 Anthony Davis' health is at worst,

02:30 it is at worst the same as a Kevin Durant or Steph Curry.

02:34 And those guys are much older.

02:35 Yet if either of their franchises handed them

02:37 three year extensions,

02:38 do you think you'd be worried about it?

02:39 Of course you wouldn't.

02:40 You would not be worried about extending KD,

02:42 you would not be worried about extending Steph,

02:44 so you shouldn't be worried about extending Anthony Davis.

02:48 But now it does beg the question.
