00:01It's aimed at boosting Ivory Coast's health system.
00:05U.S. and Ivorian officials sign a $487 million deal to strengthen disease detection and expand health capacity to combat HIV, AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis.
00:21The bilateral agreement is part of the implementation of the United States' new global health strategy, America First,
00:28which encourages countries to focus on mobilizing domestic resources to address health priorities.
00:44Part of the funding will also strengthen Ivory Coast's preparedness for epidemics
00:49by integrating U.S. health programs into the country's national health system.
00:58We need health, we need energy, we need infrastructure,
01:02and so working side by side is our vision for today and for the future.
01:10The agreement is expected to transform Ivory Coast's health sector over the next five years,
01:16significantly strengthening care and disease response nationwide.
01:19Today, we are in a different type of agreement, moving towards our national priorities,
01:28where the states can gradually take over the foreign funding we receive,
01:32allowing us to better integrate the support we receive into our health system.
01:40HIV will be a major focus with an estimated 420,000 people living with the virus in Ivory Coast last year.
