00:00Hi guys.
00:01Hello.
00:02Hi.
00:03Hey guys.
00:04This looks awesome.
00:06Wow.
00:17Um, we're plowing now?
00:20Is this our new gig?
00:22Plowing?
00:23Yeah.
00:24You know, winter gets slow.
00:25Mother Nature is still winning.
00:27Yeah, winter won't let go and Mother Nature is making sure we all know it.
00:31This feels kind of familiar.
00:33Are you, uh, bringing me, dropping me off at camp for all the weight I put on this winter?
00:36Checking on the chickens?
00:38What's happening here?
00:39Yeah, we're back at the Y camp and they need our help again.
00:42So we are back in Winthrop, back on Cobb Sea, and back at camps we already did it.
00:48Well, you guys know we had that storm earlier in the season.
00:51Whoa, look at that!
00:52Wow!
00:53Look.
00:54Triggs, we gotta get out of here.
00:57And it was a bad one.
00:58It was a bad one.
00:59It was a bad one.
01:00It was a bad one.
01:01And unfortunately this side of the lake got hit really hard and a lot of these old pines
01:06that were in here came down.
01:08Oh, they had some big pines back here too.
01:10Luckily it's not the buildings we worked on.
01:12There's the new bungalow.
01:13Wow.
01:14It's beautiful.
01:15Later on we're gonna stop down a little further to the Chadwick Camp.
01:19Wow, look at the color.
01:21I love the color.
01:22Wow!
01:23Oh my gosh!
01:24I love the color.
01:25It was part of the same storm, got damaged.
01:27But we're headed to the Y camp first.
01:28It's a lot of work, but the bigger design job will be at the Chadwick Camp.
01:31We're chasing storms.
01:33Chase and Storm.
01:35Introduce yourselves.
01:36I'm Chase.
01:37And I'm Storm.
01:38And we are...
01:39Chasing Storms.
01:40Is Jeff out here today?
01:42Jeff and his family are on vacation.
01:45We are meeting Dawn.
01:46Oh, look at that!
01:47Wow.
01:48That's some major damage, guys.
01:50Oh, there's Dawn.
01:52Hi, my name's Dawn Taylor.
01:54I'm the Chief Volunteer Officer on the Board of Directors.
01:56How we doing?
01:57Welcome back here at the YMCA Camp of Maine.
02:01I wish we didn't have to meet under the circumstances,
02:03but after the storm, we had significant damage to a number of buildings.
02:06Five took significant damage, two of which were completely destroyed.
02:11Oh, really?
02:12Yeah.
02:13So what are we working on?
02:14So we're hoping you guys can come and work on our Somerset and Kennebec Lodges.
02:18These houses are girls.
02:19This is our girls' campus on this side.
02:21Both took direct hits by pine trees.
02:24Oh.
02:25We're looking for roofs.
02:27Assess the structural support.
02:29Mm-hmm.
02:30All the porches we'll need a little bit of tending to.
02:32Yeah.
02:33All the things to get it back so that we can have a successful camp season.
02:38When does your season begin?
02:39Camp season will begin late June, but we do host a number of community events.
02:44So we expect to have campers on campus late May.
02:48Late May.
02:49Okay.
02:50Late May.
02:51Yep.
02:52And are you trying to replicate what's here, maintain the aesthetic that's here?
02:56Or?
02:57Absolutely.
02:58We're not looking to upgrade.
02:59We're just looking to maintain the camp aesthetic.
03:02You know, this is a place where hundreds of kids are going to come, have the time of their
03:06lives on the lake, and we're just looking to bring it back to what it was.
03:11Yes.
03:12So is there any budget for the repair work on this project?
03:16We do have a budget.
03:17Okay.
03:18We have a total of $80,000, $40,000 for each of the lodges.
03:22Okay.
03:23So we've got six weeks to get the Kennebec and Somerset Lodge repaired, watertight, and ready
03:30for campers.
03:31You've got $80,000 for the renovations.
03:34No keys.
03:35The camp is open.
03:36All right.
03:37Fantastic.
03:38Cool.
03:39We're fortunate that nobody was injured.
03:41Wow.
03:42Look at that.
03:43And that the only loss was structural.
03:46Tree limb.
03:47A couple of the branches are still.
03:48Oh, yeah.
03:49And we're looking forward to the cabin masters helping us get there.
03:52So this is the hit on this one.
03:54This is the hit on this one.
03:55And you can see inside.
03:57Whoa.
03:58Wow.
03:59You know, we'll have to peel some of this back.
04:02I think pull out, obviously, the branches and whatever we have to.
04:06I think we can sister onto some of the old stuff and get the roof solid enough.
04:13And then just, you know, run some new rafters.
04:16Roof right on top of that.
04:18The Kennebec and Somerset buildings are two of the oldest structures there.
04:22Wow.
04:23On this one, it's really just the porch right here.
04:28We're not going in and renovating, rehabbing the entire structure.
04:32You know, we're not going to try and level everything out.
04:34We're not going to worry about painting the entire thing.
04:37We've just got to get them back into working order.
04:40They're nothing fancy.
04:41They're just places for the kids to go crash.
04:43As long as they're safe and they're not getting wet, they're fine.
04:46That's what camp is here in Maine.
04:48On the interior of the Kennebec cabin, we'll clean out all the debris from the damage,
04:52add structural support where needed, and repair and repine.
04:55On the exterior, we'll patch up the floors, reinforce the porch railings,
04:59new metal roof across all three buildings, and a new set of stairs for the bathhouse.
05:04Wow, that was crazy.
05:05Yeah.
05:06If that was a small job, I can't imagine what happened at the Chadwick camp.
05:09Right.
05:10So we got back in the truck and headed down the road up the lake to the Chadwick camp.
05:14It's on the same side of the lake.
05:16We had it up the road down the lake.
05:17It wasn't even a hop to get from the jump.
05:21How we doing?
05:23Great.
05:24Looks like you've been out deer hunting, Ryan.
05:26Camp hunting.
05:27Camp hunting.
05:28Camp hunting.
05:29Wow, guys.
05:30You're missing something.
05:32Yeah, the porch.
05:33They did our camp originally.
05:35The steps came.
05:36There was a grand staircase that came down.
05:38Oh, yeah.
05:39I remember.
05:40And we thoroughly enjoyed camp because of what you had done with the porch and sprucing
05:44it up on the inside.
05:46Unbelievable.
05:47Oh, my word.
05:49This is incredible.
05:53This looks so...
05:54This is just gorgeous.
05:56It looks so great.
05:57So perfect.
05:58It's beautiful.
06:00We had a storm in December that had heavy rains and a lot of wind, and it dumped about
06:06an 80-foot large pine tree on the camp.
06:09So that came through, clipped that branch up there, and this way?
06:12Yeah, right straight across.
06:14Just missed the roof by about a foot.
06:16Just missed it.
06:17That's lucky.
06:18Yeah.
06:19So are we building you a new covered porch?
06:21Yes, please.
06:22But we have a different phase.
06:24Oh.
06:25Maybe take the wall down and make it all one room on the inside.
06:30Oh, wow.
06:31Yeah.
06:32We moved the door to the side and put some windows all across the front so we have a grand
06:37view of the lake.
06:38Same style.
06:39Gray shakes, black windows.
06:40I would like to, yes.
06:41Yes.
06:42I like the cottage style, camp look, definitely.
06:46So, yeah, we came from the YMCA camp and we have six weeks to get in there.
06:50I think it all depends on how many more snowstorms we get.
06:53Sure.
06:54No more.
06:55Hopefully this is it.
06:56Right.
06:57But no, I think if we're just focusing on this front part, you're happy with everything
07:01inside the camp.
07:02Absolutely.
07:03Static.
07:04Great.
07:05Great.
07:06Then I think, you know, again, if spring cooperates and things do dry out, we could have,
07:11you know, be working on the front simultaneously.
07:14What do you have for a budget for your new front area?
07:18We'd like to keep it close to 50.
07:20Yeah.
07:21So $50,000 for the renovation and six weeks to get it done.
07:25Do we need a set of keys?
07:27Doors kind of missing, but.
07:29I do have keys.
07:31The door is missing.
07:33All right.
07:34Excellent.
07:35All right.
07:36Well, thank you very much.
07:37We'll see you.
07:39Everything about them is incredible.
07:40They do phenomenal work and we're so excited to have them back.
07:45There's no damage in the main part of the cabin.
07:48Okay.
07:49Good.
07:50We've got power out here.
07:52So next step will be demo, get everybody over here and we'll pull this off.
07:57We'll pull this off and then we'll get down and, you know, get ready to start reframing up the floor.
08:03The Chadwick's want more indoor space, so we'll give them that by using the existing footprint of this old deck.
08:08We'll rip it off.
08:09Take down that front wall and create a new addition with lots of windows looking out onto the water.
08:13We'll move the front door to the side of the camp and we'll get Francis in here to do some landscaping.
08:18Call the guys.
08:19Call them all.
08:20We're chasing the storm with Chasing Storm.
08:24A little different than last time.
08:31Wow.
08:32That snow melted quickly.
08:33Thank goodness.
08:34It looks even worse.
08:36Tree damage.
08:37A lot of it.
08:38Snow hides a lot.
08:39Yeah, doesn't it?
08:40So today we're starting off at the YMCA camp.
08:43The Kennebec got squashed, huh?
08:45Yeah.
08:46Kennebec got a good sized tree right in the valley of that dormer.
08:49There's some damage inside to the roof structure.
08:52Somerset took a tree hit right on that dormer.
08:58But the storm that came through, really this side of the lake took a beating.
09:01So we've got six weeks to get this ready for campers.
09:04We're also going to be doing some work on the Chadwick camp.
09:07Wow, guys.
09:08You're missing something.
09:09Yeah, the porch needs a full rebuild.
09:11So we've got to be efficient with our time and get both demos done in one day.
09:16Let's do it.
09:18Leave the way, Trigger.
09:19We took on a little bit more, but we love Y to give back to that.
09:23Keep the truck just on that road.
09:25We'll grab everything from there.
09:26And the Chadwick's have always been good friends.
09:28Take it to pile and leave it.
09:29They're both closed, so.
09:32Whoa.
09:33Oh, what a mess.
09:37That's a wet, heavy snow, Scotty.
09:39So we got the sketchiest part off.
09:41A wet blue top is like a slip and slide.
09:43Snowshoot.
09:44And so we'll peel this back.
09:47All right, we'll get the top here, buddy.
09:50And then we'll strip the shingles off.
09:53How's it going in there?
09:54Sunlight.
09:55Usually a skylight costs a lot of money.
10:00So we're just stripping back the ceiling in here to see what needs to be repaired.
10:07It looks like we definitely have some broken rafters.
10:10So I think we should be able to piece it back together.
10:15And we're going to just cover the whole thing over with metal and give it one pitch so that hopefully the snow slides right off.
10:21Go right around here.
10:23Well, you want to kind of stay away from things that have a lot of pressure.
10:27You kind of got to take a look at where the weight is.
10:31Come on.
10:32And what would be the safest option to be able to dismantle this without getting anybody air it.
10:45Nice.
10:46Beautiful.
10:48Yeah, there was a lot of broken rafters.
10:55Lovely.
10:56Some of the supports were knocked out.
10:58Look, it looks like a butterfly.
10:59It was basically a roof line with a dormer sitting on top of it.
11:03Go ahead, do whatever you're going to do.
11:05So we just had to get everything down onto the ground.
11:09Yingle it.
11:10Ah.
11:15Yes!
11:16And then we could cut it all up safely and dispose of it.
11:22The main reason for getting rid of those dormers is because we're going to run new rafters.
11:27So we'll go from this peak and then they'll spin all the way to the front of the porch.
11:31Beautiful.
11:32And we're going to create a whole new roof line so it's just one flat straight roof.
11:36Grab one of your rooms and we'll clean this up.
11:38That was a prim joke.
11:39Never get old.
11:40It's going to make it a lot easier for snow removal.
11:43And it's going to be quite easy to put back together.
11:51Crush job!
11:52Yeah, I'd say we got the majority of the Kennebec roof cut back.
11:57We kind of know what we need to do there.
11:59Ah, love it!
12:00On Somerset, there's a little bit of dormer that needs to be ripped off.
12:03Anybody down there?
12:04No.
12:05Go ahead, let it go.
12:06But we've got to keep moving.
12:09We left Scotty, Alex, Hunter.
12:11That was perfectly executed, Gus.
12:13To just rip off the rest of the dormer.
12:15Get it weather tight.
12:16Here, you're going to need this.
12:18Actually, how are you going to get home?
12:22Now we're off to Chadwick to rip off the front deck.
12:25How do I get so lucky to hang out with a bunch of guys all day?
12:27You wouldn't even know anything happened from the back side.
12:30Wow.
12:31Wow.
12:32Much different.
12:33Look how buckled.
12:34Buckled.
12:35Goal at Chadwick's pretty straightforward.
12:37Get the front stairs and porch off.
12:39Check out this board coming right off.
12:40Come on off board.
12:42And get that platform ripped down.
12:47What am I stuck on?
12:49It's screwed together.
12:50Don't tell TV.
12:51So we can come up with a game plan from there.
12:56You want this?
12:57Just for a second.
12:58I'm right here.
13:00Look at the boat, you guys.
13:01The first boat of the season.
13:03That's not the first boat of the season.
13:05It's the first one she's seen this season.
13:11Heidi.
13:12Hey.
13:13How's it going?
13:14Demo day.
13:15Sweet.
13:16We're going to bring down some porches.
13:17Fashion stuff.
13:19So Heidi stopped by today so we could talk a little design.
13:22So we've already been here before.
13:25Mm-hmm.
13:26So we need to come up with new projects for this place.
13:29Yeah, baby.
13:30Do it.
13:31So for the YMCA camp, I was going to reach out to Kim,
13:34dress wife in Florida and see if there's anything they need outside
13:37since we're focusing mostly on the exterior.
13:40I thought you were a baseball player.
13:42Not with an eight-inch hammer.
13:45Mm-hmm.
13:46But for here...
13:47Do you want a hand?
13:48No.
13:49Perfect.
13:50Just like that.
13:51Can you reach out to Susie and see if there's something that they would like
13:53since they are getting that new room in there?
13:56One way to do it.
13:58Maybe something for the new room.
14:00I like it.
14:01Yeah.
14:02I'm going to head back and help these guys, unfortunately.
14:04Okay.
14:05I wish I could go with you.
14:06Come on.
14:07Oh, you're smart.
14:08You're smart.
14:09That's a good boy.
14:10That's a smart boy.
14:11Good luck.
14:12Bye-bye.
14:13Thanks.
14:14Done.
14:15Trigger!
14:16Oh, there we go.
14:17Get that thing off.
14:18Look at the mold.
14:19That is fresh.
14:20That is fresh mold.
14:21Camp cheese?
14:22Camp cheese?
14:23Want a bite?
14:24No!
14:25No!
14:26Camp cheese.
14:27Never heard of it.
14:29I've got to tell you, I don't think I want to.
14:31This place can use a couple days to dry out, huh?
14:32Clean off the cheese.
14:33Enough of the cheese already.
14:34The only cheese I want at camp is on my hamburger.
14:36Let's go, dogs.
14:37Watch your toes.
14:38Give me those two by sixes.
14:39It's week two over at Chadwick and Y Camps and we're ready to rebuild.
14:41Up at the Y Camp.
14:42What was it broken at?
14:43Right there.
14:44All right.
14:45Texas J is re-supporting the existing roof.
14:46Good.
14:47Let's go, get it.
14:48Let's go, let's go.
14:49Let's go, let's go.
14:50Watch your toes.
14:55Give me those, um, two by sixes.
15:02It's week two over at Chadwick and Y Camps and we're ready to rebuild.
15:06Up at the Y Camp.
15:07What was it broken at?
15:08Right there.
15:09All right.
15:10Texas J is re-supporting the existing roof.
15:12Good.
15:13Woo!
15:14replacing broken rafters and reframing the porch on the Kennebec side while
15:20Sarah and Scotty reframing the porch on the Somerset side over at the Tadwick
15:31camp the team has got the new platform built they've got it all sheathed over
15:44and they've demoed out the wall leading to the living space today we're framing up the
15:51walls
15:52are we ready are we ready so we can start setting the rafters
16:04so we have hemlock beams
16:13to go into a vaulted ceiling with this addition
16:19and they are beautiful
16:25takes a lot of muscle and manpower to keep this team moving
16:32and then we're going to sheath our roof system in
16:48here JJ
16:55alright so we are into our third week at the Y camp get our steps and
17:02today it's still cold a little green and snow we love cold rain and snow but all the damage
17:09has been torn out
17:16spring training baby how's that end look good
17:19sure
17:23so things are looking good JJ's working on patching in some weak spots in the floor
17:27torn out spring training baby how's that end look good so things are looking good
17:42JJ's working on patching in some weak spots in the floor he's got the railing
17:46going mostly finished in and this roof needs a new roof as well staircase here
17:54will need to be fully replaced over here same thing new roof line and roof down
18:00this entire thing beautiful today we're gonna focus on getting porches that have
18:06been reframed sheathed over that come 62 I sure do yeah so today I had the
18:18opportunity to be a cut guy 62 those guys were just yelling measurements down to
18:23me now it's just panting boards up
18:28um something's going on here dipping down once Jason got the Kennebec porch sheathed over
18:49you could kind of see a dip which you know obviously without having any frame
18:54there you couldn't see before and so I crawled under the camp to see what was going on uh the
19:00carrying beam cracked and one of the carrying beams on the front of the porch where the direct impact
19:09from the tree had hit drove the beam down and cracked it so we had some two by sixes it was
19:16two by six framing so I slid four of them in that's fine and was able to re-support the porch in that area
19:23okay hey what are you doing fixing rot well what are you doing come to check on you guys
19:39it's raining hey Ash what will you close up my truck and my tools are getting whacked yeah you
20:03can work in the rain if you want but it's not ideal last forward well it's not safe to be up on the roof
20:10in the rain and beautiful and it just ruins the tools yeah we just got our last couple of sheathen
20:17boards on rain's picking up on us so we're gonna grab our tools money honey we're gonna get out of here
20:29the rain is coming all right don't rain on the hurry here it comes
20:39it's week five on the Chadwick YMCA build and things are moving along
20:52Sarah Scott and Andy have been doing a heck of a job it's coming along nicely they've got the roof on
21:01the new addition all shingles they got the windows in the other day today they're putting the new door in
21:14the Chadwick's requested we change the entrance from the front of the camp to the side of the camp
21:22so we're changing the doorway which is going to be better access for them
21:25they're almost seated shaked on the outside
21:33and the Chadwick's also asked for black trim to match the black windows
21:38on the inside putting up some beautiful eastern white pine Francis is gonna come in we're gonna
21:48have this beautiful green sod patio all covered with the rotors control on the outside I think
21:55it's gonna be good over at the Y camp we're repairing the interior of the Kennebec cabin
22:02the railings are getting a nice new paint job and we're setting up for stairs in between the two
22:08buildings so the new roof line is being framed and we're using two two by sixes from the peak to the
22:26front of the porch one straight line so there is no longer the dip so hopefully any snow anything
22:32builds up sheds in the wintertime as soon as the roofing shows up we can keep working right across with
22:46the roofing you know hopefully get it watertight as quickly as possible
22:58okay
23:04Rye! Trigger! Trigger will come. Hi Triggs. What's up? Hi. So today I'm at the wood shop.
23:14Jepto. Bird house? Oh this is the lending library. Is this for the YMCA camp? Yeah. So Kim from the YMCA
23:22had requested a lending library. What is a lending library? Yeah you know the lending library really
23:27is just a little house where you put books in and take them out. How many do you need? Ultimately they
23:31would like four. You and I are gonna build one today so that then I can show it to my team and then we
23:36can finish it off from there but I just need a little bit of help from you today. So are you yelling
23:40about the trigger? Yeah. Okay so they want them placed all around the camp not necessarily. Undercover.
23:47Yeah. So do we have any roofing here? Yes. Yeah so I have pre-cut all the pieces. Right so that. I have
23:56everything I need. When we get the drill too we could both be drilling. Where would you rather be
23:59than with me and your dog? Nowhere. So I definitely need to put some sort of roofing
24:04on the lending library. That'd be perfect. And that's the solution to our problem.
24:11I like it. Yeah so you know this is a little lending library. It was a nice prototype.
24:18You just twist it up under here like that. No no no. I'll go outside and cut it. It still needs
24:25some work on it. You know you need to file down the edges because they're kind of sharp. Paint it.
24:31Then I have the material to make three more. Oh yeah look at a nice overhang. That's good. Each one's
24:39probably gonna be a little different but that's the fun of it. Will you put it in the back of my car
24:42for me? Sure. Thank you. Come on Trace.
24:48You see him? No that's not him. Today we are back at the Chadwick's. It's a very busy day. We don't have a ton of space for parking.
25:15So Ryan and Ash are coming in by boat. Just go right on that two by.
25:22On the outside Sarah is putting up the last of the cedar shakes and Chase is going
25:27around and staining them to match the main camp. On the inside Jedi and Andy are
25:33working on window trim. And once Ryan gets here he'll help me and Scotty work on the lattice.
25:41All right we gotta get there. We got a lot to do. Yeah I know. I've been waiting for you for an hour.
25:50Oh my morning started with a hectic Ryan. I just said hold on. You said it too late. He calls yelling
25:57about all these things that we have to get done to the Chadwick's. We're gonna take the boat. He's gonna do the
26:06lattice. Got it. Francis is bringing sod. Things that I don't even understand.
26:15Yeah there's a lot. And it's coming quick. And then I end up waiting forever for him to pick me up.
26:21What am I gonna do with you? So I was a little late.
26:25Look at the bald eagle. Oh he's got a fish. Cool.
26:34Is that good luck seeing a bald eagle on the way to work?
26:37Yo. Looks good. Here comes design. All covered in pine. All covered in pine.
26:59Um you did not have this view before at all. They couldn't even see the light. They're not gonna
27:04believe this. It's week six on Cobsy at the Chadwick camp and we are ready to do the finishing touches.
27:11So uh I heard through the grapevine they wanted some shelves. What kind of shelves are they?
27:17Um just some two live edge shelves. I'm gonna sand them down. Polyarthen and put them up.
27:21Um have some nice main brackets that Tom made. And all this is done. So we could probably put them up today huh?
27:27Yep. Where are you gonna put them? Maybe that wall. That wall needs something. Yeah.
27:31Cool. Well um I'm gonna head on out and see if my materials are here but I'll be back guys. Awesome.
27:37There goes design. Here goes design.
27:41So I'm setting up. I have a couple pieces of live edge. Just needs a quick sanding.
27:55Put some poly on it.
27:59And I'm gonna make some shelves and Andy and I are gonna install them.
28:03Here we go.
28:05Yeah and our friend Tom makes these really cool brackets with the state of main in it.
28:09Sweet.
28:11Sweet.
28:12In the original kitchen we put a live edge counter in.
28:15Perfectly.
28:16That's their kind of look. Their aesthetic.
28:21My.
28:22Unbelievable.
28:23My word.
28:24Look at the counter.
28:26Wow.
28:27Oh yeah.
28:29That one's really nice.
28:31So I just thought it would be something that would fit in really well in the cabin.
28:34There you go.
28:35There you go.
28:36Look at that.
28:37I like it.
28:47Okay.
28:50One of the other big things at the Chadwick camp is the new lattice.
28:53Perfect.
28:54Yeah so before Susie was like they sit out there they'd be entertaining and sit on the lawn.
28:57They just have to look at all the junk under the cabin.
28:59Each item when used individually is great but when put together it's junk.
29:03You got it ready buddy?
29:04So we are changing the lattice a little bit and all we're doing is there's a space on the
29:09front side of the lattice.
29:10We're going to put a piece of lattice on the back so air can get through it but if you're
29:13looking straight on you won't really see what's behind there.
29:15They had trouble getting stuff underneath.
29:17Nice.
29:18So we designed a system that has a barn door rail coming up under the beam.
29:22That's going to work nice though isn't it?
29:24Two of these are going to sit up there and they'll pull right out nice and easy and slide
29:28back in.
29:29Today Francis we're going to make your landscaping look sharp and then that front air is just
29:34going to come together.
29:36You got an intern today Francis?
29:38I got something.
29:39This really is a whole new camp.
29:41I'm a gardener today.
29:43What do you think Jedi?
29:46Oh I think it's a great spot to tan.
29:49We never had a company nap guys.
29:51A little siesta.
29:53Oh Moss is here.
29:55What are you doing?
29:56We're just checking out the gate.
29:57What's the plan?
29:58You guys keep going.
29:59I'm going to go check in on the Y and see how they're doing.
30:01All right.
30:02Let's do it.
30:03Get on it.
30:04Man that's nice.
30:05You're right.
30:06Francis nice job.
30:07Ashley nice job.
30:08Bye.
30:12This is going to be an incredible transformation for the Chadwick's.
30:15So things are looking good at the Y camp.
30:30Most pretty much all the roof is on.
30:34These guys are working on finishing the roof on the bathhouse and then touch up painting.
30:39While Ashley and her team are getting ready for the Chadwick's.
30:47We'll do a little bit of clean up here at the Y camp and then hand it back over to Jeff and his family in a couple of days.
30:52Oh look a joke book.
30:58Ready for some jokes?
31:00Ready.
31:01All right.
31:03Save the jokes for later.
31:04We got a big day today.
31:05I know.
31:06Chasing away the storms for good.
31:08For good.
31:09It's the end of week six and we are done.
31:12Yeah the lending libraries came out really cute.
31:14Don't you think?
31:15Yeah for sure.
31:16We completed the lending libraries for the Y camp.
31:18All the campers come tomorrow right?
31:20Yeah.
31:21We're not doing staging on the inside.
31:22The campers bring their own bedding and all that.
31:25But we were able to bring in plants, chairs, picnic tables.
31:29And it's looking great.
31:31Wow.
31:32Wow.
31:33Man.
31:34So good.
31:35Wow.
31:36Wow.
31:40Here they are.
31:41Hey guys.
31:42Hi.
31:43Ashley.
31:44How are you?
31:45Good.
31:46How are you?
31:47Welcome back.
31:48Oh.
31:49Well, welcome back to you.
31:50This is great.
31:51Walking up and seeing the clean roofs.
31:58It's in the flower pots.
31:59It's in the picnic tables.
32:01Thanks for coming.
32:02Of course.
32:03Of course.
32:04Hi guys.
32:05Hi Ashley.
32:06How are you?
32:07Good.
32:08It just makes it feel more welcoming and it looks pretty sharp.
32:10So welcome back.
32:11How was Florida?
32:12Yeah.
32:13It's great.
32:14It's great.
32:15It's always nice to head south when winters are what they are in Maine.
32:18Yeah.
32:19So, you know, that storm that came through hit a lot of camps on this side of Cobsea.
32:22We're actually finishing up another camp.
32:24Oh, wow.
32:25A few roads down and, you know, getting that ready for the summer season.
32:29Nice.
32:30So happy and lucky we were able to come in and help do a few improvements.
32:37That will extend the longevity and make a little less work for you in the winter times.
32:42Yeah.
32:43Yeah.
32:45These metal roofs are awesome.
32:46Yeah.
32:47You know, had the guys come in.
32:48It's like, these buildings weren't perfect before the trees hit them.
32:51But they did a really good job just straightening out the roof line.
32:54The Kennebec definitely sustained the majority of the damage.
32:57It damaged the inside structure and the porch.
33:01So we got everything put back together, closed it all in.
33:05On Somerset, it was the porch that took the hit.
33:11All new framing and new paint jobs.
33:14So, ready to go.
33:16And we wanted some lending libraries.
33:18So we had some fun making those and putting those up around the property.
33:22Cool.
33:23One of the traditions with the cabins is the counselors reading to the kids at night.
33:28Oh, nice.
33:29So, being able to have books at the ready, that will definitely be put to good use.
33:33Want to head on in and check it out?
33:35Yeah.
33:36Cool.
33:37All right.
33:38Oh, wow.
33:39Holy mackerel.
33:40There used to be a big hole right there.
33:42The tree is gone.
33:43The tree is gone.
33:44No more skylight.
33:46No.
33:47That's awesome.
33:48No.
33:49Ready for the campers.
33:50Ready?
33:51Yeah.
33:52Knowing that we have people coming from Maine and other states and other countries to
33:58connect.
33:59Nice, solid deck.
34:00Yeah.
34:01Nice and solid.
34:02The lights are back up.
34:03Yep.
34:04And the trim is so nice.
34:07Having these repairs done.
34:09The railings are fixed.
34:11Nice new stairs.
34:13Oh, here's another library.
34:15Means that we can focus our attention on that.
34:19The adventures that this summer is going to hold.
34:24Yeah.
34:25So, you know, when we first showed up, you know, met Don.
34:28Didn't have a key to hand off.
34:29So, we don't have a key to get back to you.
34:31But we had six weeks and $80,000 to get it back, get it ready for campers.
34:36We just squeaked under the wire.
34:38So, the rest is on you guys now.
34:40Okay.
34:41We'll take it from here.
34:42And now we have to run because we're still chasing the storm.
34:45Okay.
34:46Right down the lake here.
34:47So.
34:48Perfect.
34:49We will hopefully not see you under these conditions soon.
34:52But hopefully see you soon.
34:53Hopefully.
34:54We have the great privilege of speaking for over a hundred years of alumni.
34:58And hopefully a hundred more years to come of campers.
35:02Oh, this is the...
35:03Oh, hey.
35:04Look, there's one down there too.
35:05And this one that looks true.
35:06Yeah.
35:07Sweet.
35:08Thank you to the cabin masters for taking such great care of this very special place.
35:14Thank you, cabin masters!
35:26All right.
35:27Yeah, so the build of the Chadwick camp is done.
35:29Looks great, doesn't it?
35:30It does.
35:31My team and I were able to get in there and redecorate it.
35:35The shelves that we made are perfect for the space.
35:38Francis is done with the landscaping.
35:40The whole place was ready for the Chadwick's to come back and enjoy for the summer.
35:43No more storms.
35:44I'm beat.
35:47Still a lot of tall trees.
35:49Chase, knock on all the wood.
35:56Oh, there they are.
35:57Hi!
35:58Hey, guys.
35:59How are you?
36:00This looks awesome.
36:02Wow.
36:03You know, that storm was awful.
36:07And honestly, when I came out here and saw that 90-foot tree on our camp, I said,
36:13there is probably no way we're going to get it done for this summer.
36:19How are you?
36:20We're good.
36:21Good to see you, young lady.
36:22Good to see you.
36:23Very excited.
36:24And as always, the cabin masters makes a silk purse out of a pig's ear every time.
36:30This is awesome.
36:31Wow.
36:32Yeah.
36:33Nice, safe steps down towards the water.
36:35You don't have to go down over the hill like a billy goat.
36:38You don't have to worry about breaking an ankle.
36:40Exactly.
36:41Exactly.
36:42New side entrance over here.
36:43I think that's going to work so much better.
36:45Yes.
36:46Yes.
36:47Just what the cabin masters did with the hardscape, the steps.
36:51Incredible.
36:52Wow.
36:53Oh.
36:54Oh.
36:55Oh.
36:56Wow.
36:57My goodness.
36:58This is beautiful.
37:00This is incredible.
37:02Absolutely.
37:03What a transformation.
37:07Wow.
37:09Look at those windows.
37:11I know.
37:12Unbelievable.
37:13We can see the lake.
37:14Unbelievable.
37:15Unbelievable.
37:16So bright and bigger and just be able to see the water.
37:19Oh.
37:20Wow.
37:21Beautiful.
37:22I did go down to get some nice slabs to make you some beautiful live edge shelves over
37:27there.
37:28It looks amazing.
37:33I cannot believe how they transformed the space.
37:36It's beautiful.
37:38It's so nice.
37:40We have grass.
37:42Oh, wow.
37:49We have some storage.
37:50We got storage underneath.
37:51Yeah, watch this.
37:52This is perfect.
37:53That is going to make it easy.
37:54Yes.
37:55We continued with the black.
37:56The black.
37:57Yeah.
37:58A little bit of privacy in between them.
38:00That's awesome.
38:01Brian nailed that.
38:02He did a great job.
38:03Gave us some storage to get to easily and not have to worry about it over the winter.
38:07This is beautiful.
38:08It seems like there's so much more space.
38:11Great.
38:12That was the point, right?
38:13I mean, originally, the stairs came down.
38:15So that kind of took up space.
38:16Yeah.
38:17That took up space.
38:18Yeah.
38:23The gift that cabin masters have is just making it like it belongs there.
38:28Like it's been there since the early 1900s when this camp was built.
38:34They truly have a gift when it comes to that.
38:36Yeah.
38:37So called Ryan right after the storm.
38:39You were looking to rebuild the porch but incorporate it more into the house.
38:43We had six weeks and $50,000.
38:45Francis came in, did the landscaping.
38:47Everybody worked together.
38:49Camp is ready for summer.
38:51Here are your keys.
38:52Awesome.
38:53Perfect.
38:54Yeah.
38:55It's ready to go.
38:56Can't thank you guys enough.
38:57We are so fortunate to know them and call them our friends.
39:01If that means I get to stay in this breeze, I will be here all night.
39:05We've got room now.
39:07All right.
39:08Just a giant thank you to everyone that was involved in this project.
39:13Past all expectations.
39:15Truly gifted company.
39:16Thank you cabin masters.
39:17Thank you cabin masters.
39:18Thank you cabin masters.
