00:00Welcome Strongman fans and those with no other particular plans.
00:24Here's something you may find entertaining.
00:25It's day three of the SPD World's Strongest Man.
00:29We're in Sacramento, California, where already days one and two have been raw and they've
00:33been primal as four men muscled their way into the final.
00:38...time and reigning SPD World's Strongest Man representing Great Britain, Tom Stoltman!
00:50Yes!
00:51We have played games!
00:53Whoa!
00:53Through to his first SPD World's Strongest Man final, it's the singing Strongman, Eddie
01:01Williams!
01:04Through to the World's Strongest Man final, let's hear it from Mitchell Hooper!
01:12Through to his very first SPD World's Strongest Man final, Paddy Hayes!
01:19Thank you for joining us today!
01:29So, Eddie Hall, the first two groups here in Sacramento have been absolutely stacked with
01:33former finalists, but today's set features some very interesting, fresh faces.
01:37Yeah, we've got two new guys, Lucas Hatton and Rayne O'Neill.
01:41Now, Lucas Hatton has been competing at some very high-level competition in Strongman.
01:45Came second at the Arnold Classic, which is where the top ten guys in the world go to compete,
01:49so that's a very good steed.
01:51And then Rayne O'Neill won the SCL, which is the Strongman Champions League.
01:55It's like the League One in Strongman, but usually guys that win that tend to do very good at this stage.
02:03And he did that despite only taking part in three of the 12 competitions, so must have something about him.
02:09Well, aside from Nell and that Manhattan, what about the chances of Britain's Shane Flowers becoming the third Brit in the final?
02:15Last time he was here, three years ago, he dropped an anvil on his foot in the first event and broke it.
02:21Can we expect better this time?
02:23Yeah, Shane Flowers has had a bit of a whirlwind the last few years.
02:26He missed one year at Will's Strongest Man because of the birth of his son.
02:30He missed the second year because ten days before the final, he ripped his bicep off the bone and had to get reattached.
02:36So, he's taken about six months to recover from that and about six months good training.
02:41He came second at Britain's Strongest Man.
02:43If you're coming to the top two in Britain, in my opinion, that puts you at the top ten in the world, no problem.
02:47Okay. Wow. Add a two-time runner-up in Mateusz Kieloszkowski into that mix,
02:51and you've got yourself a very interesting Heat three.
02:53Let's hear more about them now with our commentators Danny Wallace and Colin Bryce.
02:57Well, thanks, James. Thanks, Eddie.
02:59And yes, what a groove this is.
03:02First time traveling to North America for Rayne O'Neill,
03:05two-time Africa's Strongest Man and a former rugby player.
03:09From the US, it's Lucas, the hit Manhattan, making his debut two times America's Strongest Man.
03:16The Ghanaian gladiator, second time at World's Strongest, Evans Nanna.
03:21Mateusz Kieloszkowski, the mighty pole, twice second at World's Strongest Man.
03:26And completing the line-up from Britain's Shane Flowers.
03:30Flower Power, he calls himself.
03:32Might need a stronger nickname.
03:34So first event is the loading medley, Colin.
03:38Sacks, a sack fest.
03:40Four of them have to be loaded onto the back of a Cybertruck.
03:44The United States of America.
03:45Well, they call this guy the hitman.
03:47On account of his side hustle in assassinations.
03:52And Flowers is back, Colin.
03:55Yes, it's great to see him back.
03:57It's been a while now.
03:58He's been out with different injuries.
04:00He's got a great opportunity and he's in great shape.
04:04On the whistle.
04:06And all of these weigh around about 130 kilograms, just under 300 pounds.
04:12Or about maybe 22 stone.
04:16So pretty heavy.
04:17Not the easiest things to carry either.
04:19They can slip out your hands.
04:21Neck and neck at the moment.
04:22I'm impressed with Hatton seeing as he's got such enormous legs.
04:26This is fast for both guys, especially in this heat.
04:29Different techniques though, moving up to the shoulder for Hatton.
04:32It's definitely quicker just to carry it in your arms.
04:35But it can be tiring, especially on this last one.
04:38If you try and do that.
04:39Kicks and turns.
04:40That's really quick from Flowers.
04:42Well, it was.
04:43It's a risk to pick it up and turn.
04:45Both men doing it.
04:46Flowers faster.
04:47Nice.
04:48It's a very awkwardly shaped sack.
04:51And the Husserfeld stone.
04:53And about 47, 48 seconds there for Hatton.
04:56And we saw from the previous heats with the likes of Mitchell Hooper,
04:59Tom Stoltman, 38 seconds.
05:0148 seconds was the very best for those two.
05:04So, remember, this is compared to the other heats
05:07if you qualify through to the final.
05:09Well, four in 48.09 for Lucas Hatton.
05:13With four sandbags in a time of 40.13.
05:16But a good time.
05:18Shane Flowers.
05:19He seems satisfied.
05:2040 seconds.
05:24Yes, indeed.
05:2540 seconds is excellent.
05:26Very close to Stoltman and Mitchell Hooper from the other heats.
05:29Not sure there was much more there, though.
05:31Good job.
05:3241.
05:33Representing South Africa, Reino Nell.
05:36So, Reino Nell.
05:38That mighty chest.
05:40In lane two.
05:41Representing.
05:42Against an old hand.
05:43He's been appearing at World's Strongest since 2016.
05:47Kieliszkowski.
05:48This should be fascinating.
05:49Kieliszkowski is incredibly quick.
05:50But Reino Nell.
05:51He's almost an unknown quantity.
05:52We've heard so many things about him.
05:53Two times Africa's strongest man.
05:54And he's only been in the sport two years.
05:55Oh, absolutely.
05:56He's doing very well here.
05:57Very fast turn against Kieliszkowski.
05:58Who's just about never lost a loading event in his life.
06:00This is really impressive from the South African.
06:02Well, Nell's off.
06:03Kieliszkowski just behind him.
06:04You can tell.
06:05Nell used to play rugby.
06:06And Kieliszkowski is a...
06:07Oh, that's a fumble there.
06:08That's a fumble there.
06:09That will cost him greatly.
06:10What an error.
06:11Now that Flowers did.
06:1240 seconds just over.
06:13This is gonna be tight.
06:14And Nell needs to get ahead of that.
06:1540 seconds is not gonna do that.
06:17But he's nipping on the floor.
06:18It's little at the corner of the field.
06:19So, yeah, after that it's pretty good.
06:20Oh, he's got fun.
06:21At that point, it's a big right part.
06:22I'm coming to get a second turn against Kieliszkowski.
06:23And Kieliszkowski.
06:24Who's just about never lost a loading event in his life.
06:26This is really impressive from the South African.
06:28Well, Nell's off.
06:29Kieliszkowski just behind him.
06:30You can tell.
06:31Nell used to play rugby.
06:32And Kieliszkowski.
06:33and now needs to get ahead of that 40 seconds he's not going to do that but
06:39he's nipping at Flowers' heels as Kieliszkowski finishes, that'll be
06:44disappointing for him
06:48massively disappointing for Kieliszkowski that was just a total
06:52switched off for a second I don't know what he was thinking he's furious at
06:56himself and actually a bit of speed up on the last one
07:00well an unhappy Kieliszkowski four in 46.28 and with four sandbags in a time of 42.3
07:08and a couple of seconds behind Flowers, Rayno Nell you know he grew that
07:14moustache this morning. Rayno shines but Flowers blooming good and in the lead in
07:19event one up next though hey na na it's the self-proclaimed Usain Bolt of
07:24strength can he go fastest we'll find out when we return
07:30welcome back to the SPD World's Strongest Man where Brit Shane Flowers is in the
07:42lead in group three just one man left to run in the opening event the loading
07:46medley Evans Nana from Ghana back to Colin and Danny
07:50well thank you James yes cutting a lonely figure having to compete against no one
07:57being the solo Evans Nana from Ghana calls himself as James mentioned earlier the Usain Bolt of strongman
08:05strongman can be a little hit and miss Evans certainly very fast at moving
08:12events like this completed at World's Strongest Man last year that was his debut didn't make it to the final but
08:18this is certainly an event that suits him he's very quick through the first two sacks
08:25he's only been competing in strongman since 2021
08:30he made a real impact with the other athletes and now
08:34now we see the Usain Bolt of it the speed back to the final sack
08:41marginally slower than Usain Bolt I was gonna say marginally slower but if you can let him off
08:46well the 40 seconds of Shane Flowers has come and gone he's not gonna win this heat but it's solid
08:52yeah good time for Evans Nana
08:57around about 44 seconds
08:5944.9 for Evans Nana puts him behind Reynaud now but ahead of Kieliszkowski
09:07yeah I would have said Kieliszkowski
09:09Manhattan were the two favorites for this heat but right now they're fourth and fifth this man in third
09:15yes while the favorites flounder it's Flowers who's off to a flyer
09:19picking up his maiden event win at World's Strongest Man he's with Michelle
09:28now Shane the last time I saw you was back in 2022 you're in an ice bath with a broken foot
09:34is it good to be back I knew he was gonna bring that up
09:37it's really good to be back you know three years later in the same city
09:41to win an event that cost me so much three years ago really happy and I just need to keep building on this now
09:48I know I know that my finalists have got it in me so I just need to show the world that I can do it
09:53this is the thing isn't it but it's been a long road it's been quite the journey for you to get to this point
09:57yeah it has obviously 20 2022 went completely wrong
10:01um 23 I missed due to the birth of my son 24
10:0510 days out from the show managed to rupture my bicep off the bone so I've not had much luck
10:11but I'm here now I'm in great shape so let's do it
10:15tell you what you seem incredibly focused and as it currently stands your third overall
10:20what's that doing to the confidence levels
10:22just building and building you know like I said I've not had much luck so
10:25when your backs against the wall it's hard sometimes and
10:27there's been times over the last three years where I've thought about just jacking it in but
10:31I just took one day at a time and now I'm back so
10:34yeah buzzing it's fantastic to see you here well done Shane thank you thank you very much
10:39Shane flowers off to a great start in his quest to join fellow Brits Tom Stoltman and Paddy Haynes
10:45who are already through to the final next up though for Shane and group three
10:49it's a very different kind of test the deadlift for reps and if event one was all about speed
10:54this requires raw power 350 kilos on the bar 60 seconds on the clock
11:01our first was a man with static strength of plenty Lucas Hatton
11:08Hatton managed seven reps matching the mark set in previous heats by former champions Tom Stoltman and Mitchell Hooper
11:15that's the number for the rest of group three to aim for then as we rejoin Conan and Danny
11:22representing Gana Evans Nana then
11:29hoping to
11:31hoping to
11:32best
11:34Hatton seven reps so too Kieliszkowski
11:37Mattias Kieliszkowski
11:40one of the greats Kieliszkowski certainly one of the greats to never have won World's Strongest Man that's for sure he's right up there in that list
11:48good to have him back but this was always his Achilles heel deadlift
11:52Nanna
11:53down
11:54he knocks the deadlift and oh no
11:55down
11:56down
11:57down
11:58his hips or what but he's to be honest this is probably the reason why he couldn't win well
12:01Strongest Man
12:02down
12:03lift
12:04that's already another very disappointing event for Kieliszkowski
12:08so we'll focus on Nanna
12:09down
12:11down
12:12five reps
12:13five reps
12:14we've seen from the other heats that eight is about absolute max you can do in this
12:19it's a horrible brutal way that the bar doesn't bend at all
12:23very thick bar as well and
12:25down
12:26from a very low height lower than you would in a gym
12:28seven reps could he do eight he's got time
12:31he does have time
12:33can he give us one more
12:36this heat of course not helping
12:38well seven for Nanna
12:45ties in for first so far with Hatton
12:49it's had its effect doesn't it
12:51goodness me yeah
12:52that's knocked him for sixth
12:54try and get his suit off and get him breathing a little better but
12:58once someone stops they rarely get another rep
13:01seven though is very solid equals Hatton
13:03equals Hatton
13:06with seven repetitions give it up for Evan Nia
13:10some oxygen will help him get back on it
13:11oh that was fast
13:13goodness me he's the Usain Bolt the strong man
13:16what was in that
13:17he's a great showman
13:19he loves the crowd that's for sure
13:21representing South Africa
13:26we move on
13:27to Raynaud Nell
13:28to Raynaud Nell
13:31he's very fast in the loading medley
13:34representing Great Britain
13:36and back Shane Flowers
13:38after some recent misfortunes
13:43Shane is a former Commonwealth champion in powerlifting
13:49he's been one of the three disciplines of powerlifting
13:52so I'd expect him to do very well here
13:54but it's Raynaud Nell who's making the running
13:56the unknown quantity
13:58banging them out here
14:00this is impressive from Nell
14:02he doesn't really know what his maximum is
14:06he's never really been tested yet
14:09he is fairly new to strongman
14:11this is his debut at World Strongest Man
14:13and he looks great
14:14it has to be said
14:16often we see that when someone doesn't know
14:19what they're not supposed to be able to do
14:22they go a lot further than we think they can
14:25and he's doing that now
14:27yes he shouldn't do a
14:29but he can
14:30and he's done it
14:31wow
14:32my goodness me
14:33that's a massive total
14:34Flowers
14:35gotta get the seventh up here
14:36can he get it up his quads?
14:37no he can't
14:38so close there
14:40Shane Flowers
14:43well in powerlifting
14:44you'd have been told to put that down
14:45but in strongman
14:46that's fine
14:47you could jack it up
14:48but he didn't have the energy in the end
14:51so six reps
14:53for Shane Flowers
14:57but just incredible really
14:58from Raynaud Nell
14:59surprised everybody
15:00eight reps
15:03well we've seen he's very fast
15:04and now we've seen he's statically very very strong too
15:08this guy's looking like an all-round package
15:11the South African
15:13an all-round surprise package
15:14his eight reps equaling the best score we've seen all week
15:18they call him the Raynaud
15:20and right now he's with Michelle
15:23Raynaud first time on the World Strongest Man circuit
15:27and you've just won an event
15:28how does it feel?
15:30no it's amazing
15:32I had a bit more hope for a loading medley
15:33so this is good redemption for me for myself
15:36and I know for you
15:37you grew up watching strongman
15:39to actually be here with some of the greatest strongmen of all time
15:43what's that like for you?
15:44yeah it's awesome I mean I don't get bigger than this
15:47I'm so humble and so glad to be taking in every moment
15:51it's amazing
15:52what's your plan for the next event?
15:53I take it one event at a time
15:55so next is the pressing medley
15:58I have a game plan
15:59not going to share it yet
16:01fair enough
16:03but yeah I'll just go out and give my best
16:05and you have an overall goal for this year's World Strongest Man
16:08have you got your eyes on the final?
16:10yeah being my first World Strongest Man
16:12I think getting into a final will be a big achievement
16:15so yeah that's the first box that I need to tick
16:17it feels like there's a lot of eyes on you coming into this competition
16:21does that add a bit of pressure?
16:22do you feel like you've got a point to prove?
16:24yeah look I come from a whole different organisation
16:27there's only one other guy here that I've competed against
16:30so I think I'm an unknown
16:32but for me take it one event at a time
16:34and then maybe show the guys I deserve to be here
16:36well the best of luck Reino
16:38thank you so much
16:40Reino the Rhino currently on top of the standings
16:43two points clear of Shane Flowers
16:44in what continues to be a very surprising group
16:47the highly rated Lucas Hatton and Mateusz Kieliszkowski
16:50currently a long way off the qualifying positions
16:54up next it's the overhead medley
16:57can Lucas and Mateusz keep up with the pairs?
16:59can Shane Flowers keep his spot in the top two?
17:02we'll find out when we return
17:10welcome back to the SPD World Strongest Man
17:12next up for the strongmen of group three
17:15it's the overhead medley
17:17this test of overhead metal literally
17:20with four different implements
17:22for a combined seven reps
17:24and 75 seconds on the clock
17:26first out and in desperate need to point
17:28is Poland's Mateusz Kieliszkowski
17:30over to Colin and Danny
17:31well Kieliszkowski could redeem himself here
17:41one of the most explosive overhead pressers in the world
17:46yes he has to go on his own
17:49he was at last in the deadlift
17:51so he has to come out first in this event
17:5390kg overhead this should be no problem whatsoever for him
17:55he is one of the greatest dumbbell pressers there's ever been that's for sure
18:01now then let's see if he just viper
18:04yes he does just chucks it right from his hip up overhead
18:07no pausing necessary just straight up
18:11viper press as they called it very impressive now then
18:13on to the clean and jerk of this circus barbell
18:24seems to be struggling slightly here
18:26lacking the power belly
18:28needs the power belly isn't he
18:30that's it for Kieliszkowski
18:33well something's not right here obviously
18:35he's not feeling himself
18:37yeah I'm very surprised you saw how easy it was for him to chuck that log up
18:40it's as if he just ran out of gas
18:44let's hear it from Matias Kieliszkowski
18:47well four in 26.25
18:49I don't know what's going through his head
18:54representing the United States of America
18:57so Lucas Hitman Hatton
19:02one of the world's greatest pressers
19:04representing
19:06Shane Flowers
19:07he's having a good day
19:12he's feeling good
19:18looking forward to seeing Hatton press the log
19:21one of the best log pressers right now out there
19:26if not the best just about
19:28and very quick with that dumbbell
19:31wow that was lightning
19:33come on Shane let's go
19:35have some of that Kieliszkowski
19:40anything Kieliszkowski can do
19:46slower, steadier
19:49now then let's see how Hatton deals with this circus barbell
19:53there's the power there
19:55up it goes
19:56look at that
19:57350 pounds
19:59gleaned and jerked overhead with ease
20:02if he gets through this next one
20:05Hatton he'll go on to the axle
20:06the end game monster if you like
20:09weighing 168 kilograms
20:11it's more like 365 pounds
20:14very heavy indeed
20:1575 seconds
20:2075 seconds of which to do it
20:21he's still got time
20:22he's still got time
20:30oh no
20:31Hatton's beaten
20:32flowers
20:34oh
20:35oh he didn't lock it out
20:36he did lock it out
20:37he did lock it out but it was in front of him
20:39goodness me
20:42well five in 52.74 for Shane Flowers
20:45with six from Jens at the time of
20:51one ahead
20:52Lucas Hatton
20:53six in 47.41
20:58I really thought Hatton was going to do the final implement there
21:01such a great presser but
21:02all of the cleaning
21:03getting it to the shoulders is what tied him
21:06representing Ghana
21:08it's Eben's now the next
21:09Eben's now the next
21:15getting the crowd on side
21:16always a good idea
21:18Reino Nell
21:19and Reino Nell
21:22slightly more modest
21:23in his behaviour
21:25he's a very humble fella
21:27but exceptionally talented
21:29so
21:31Ghana against South Africa right here
21:36it's fast from Nell
21:39I mean this is quite a technical event
21:41for a man who's
21:42not been in the sport particularly long
21:43he's just
21:45so talented at everything
21:46highly coordinated
21:47as well as
21:48ridiculously strong
21:49goodness me
21:51and straight back to the second
21:55well what's happening here
21:56almost doesn't make sense
21:57we're talking 150 kilos in the hand there
21:59that's a serious weight
22:03locks out
22:07already moving on
22:09see how long-armed he is
22:10as well
22:11that's a long old press down
22:12he's pushing it
22:14a great deal above his head there
22:17he's not built to be a presser
22:18but he's good
22:19oh what a jerk
22:20now that's how to lift weights
22:21oooh
22:22it bounced into him
22:24that's got to hurt
22:25for the uninitiated what a jerk
22:26is actually a compliment
22:28yeah yeah yeah yeah
22:30basically using your legs twice
22:32driving and dipping
22:33in case he just tuned in
22:34and thought Colin Bryce
22:35had lashed his mind
22:37so Nene
22:39oh it's unsteady
22:41that's a shame
22:44yeah he never had full control
22:45did he
22:46ooh
22:47that's really bouncing around into them
22:49a little uncomfortable finish for Nell
22:50but
22:52another consistent
22:53good performance
22:54might not have won this
22:56overhead medley
22:57but
22:58a bit of time indeed
23:00well it puts him in second
23:01after Hatton
23:02five in 36.81
23:04and we found third place as well
23:06in Evans Nanna
23:08five in 48.91
23:10Nanna
23:15that's hard lines there for Nanna
23:17I mean if you look at it in slow motion
23:18it does look like he's locked out
23:19because he is
23:20but he was always drifting away
23:22he wasn't in control
23:24it was the right call for Magnus
23:26I disagree
23:30the results for the overhead medley
23:31Hatton hits back
23:32to claim a much needed event win
23:34Nell, Nanna and Flowers
23:35all put up five
23:36but not Mateusz Kieliszkowski
23:39who's return to Worlds
23:40is not going to plan
23:41he's with Michelle
23:43Mateusz, everyone's been so excited
23:45to see you back here at Worlds
23:47but we know you've had a difficult time of it
23:49with the last three events, haven't you?
23:51Yeah, yeah, I was very excited to come here
23:53but I don't feel well
23:55because I feel something like high temperature
23:58some fever
23:59here is very hot
24:00but I use long sleeves
24:02I don't feel good right now
24:05now it's bad luck for me
24:07but events
24:08events was fine
24:09I should be go final easy
24:11but it's not my time
24:13maybe next year will be better
24:15so tricky
24:16especially if you're battling
24:17illness and injury too
24:20yeah, I come back after
24:21a very, very heart injury
24:22last year
24:23I torn my Achilles
24:24not maybe 100% power
24:27maybe 80% is now
24:30but still
24:31I need to be very, very healthy
24:32to compete at the highest level here
24:34but you know what Mateusz
24:35there's so much love
24:36and respect for you
24:37here at World's Strongest Man
24:39and there are two events coming up
24:40that we know
24:41you're fantastic at
24:43does that give you hope
24:44that you can come back
24:45and put on a show?
24:46you know, I will do my maximum
24:48what I can possible now
24:49yesterday also overhead medley
24:51I should win easy
24:52with total 25 guys
24:53because I am the best
24:55in the medley overhead
24:57but I can breathe
24:59I don't have power
25:00I feel cold all the time
25:02I can't warm up
25:03if I do warm up
25:04I still have pain
25:05in my joints
25:06elbows
25:07and my knees
25:08so
25:09I will do my best
25:10of course
25:11stone
25:12is 100% my event
25:14and I will push my body
25:15to
25:16limit
25:17to
25:18maybe win only one event
25:19and just satisfy
25:20my mind
25:21little bit
25:22Mateusz, we're all rooting for you
25:24and we really hope
25:25you feel better soon
25:26thank you, thank you
25:293 events into Heat 3
25:31and we've had 3 different
25:32winners so far
25:33but it's the not so little Nell
25:34who's leading the way
25:35he's winning the deadlift
25:36plus second places
25:37in the other events
25:38means that he's 3.5 points
25:39clear right now
25:40he's looking good Eddie
25:41he's looking phenomenal
25:42that deadlift result
25:43was insane
25:458 reps
25:46beating Tom Stoltman
25:47and Mitchell Hooper
25:48they only managed 7
25:49honestly that is
25:50within the best
25:51in the world at deadlift
25:52absolutely insane
25:53top two go through
25:54from this group
25:55currently Shane Flowers
25:56in fourth spot
25:57but he's only half a point
25:58behind second
25:59yeah Shane Flowers
26:00is doing really good
26:02Titans toss up next
26:03so it's a good event
26:04for him
26:05he's got the world record
26:06at the Giants live
26:07for the sandbag toss
26:08so it keeps him in contention
26:09to make it
26:10into the final this year
26:11excellent
26:12what has been spectacular
26:13to watch in the first two heats
26:14let's see how the Titans
26:15toss goes this time
26:16with Colin and Danny
26:17yes the Titans toss
26:20Colin you're a Titan
26:22so why don't you talk us
26:23through this
26:24well you have to toss
26:25ten sacks over a bar
26:27and that you get further
26:29and further away with each
26:30pair of sacks
26:31they all weigh 14 kilograms
26:33around about 30 pounds
26:34and this is how it's done
26:36true test of explosive power
26:39Mateusz Kieliszkowski
26:41had to come out first
26:42on his own
26:43having finished last
26:44of the previous event
26:45just seven out of the ten
26:47in 31.97 seconds
26:49I think you'll be a little
26:50disappointed with that
26:51especially when there's so
26:52many good throwers
26:53and athletes
26:54in this heat
26:55so an achievable benchmark
26:57from Kieliszkowski
26:58managing seven
27:00it is a game of strength
27:04it's a game of physics
27:06you've got to get the angle
27:09right
27:10the angle of trajectory
27:11and it gets flatter
27:12and flatter
27:13the further away you get
27:14Evans Nanna
27:15good thrower
27:16very explosive
27:17we know that
27:18but Shane Flowers
27:19as Eddie touched on
27:21is exceptional at throwing
27:23taking it very seriously
27:25as well
27:26very focused Flowers
27:27well so far
27:40so easy
27:41for both men
27:42it's just
27:44gonna get tricky
27:49and that's high
27:50and long
27:51from Flowers
27:52as he moves on to the last one
27:53oh
27:54didn't get that one though
27:55nor the final
27:56so eight for Flowers
28:00that's 12 metres away there
28:02for Nanna
28:05that's just
28:06not even close I'm afraid
28:09still six for him
28:10eight for Flowers
28:11yes
28:12Flowers moving into first
28:13with six sandbags
28:14at a time of 23.66
28:16give it up
28:17and if Flowers
28:18can't do all ten
28:19that shows you quite
28:20how hard it is
28:23with eight sandbags
28:24at a time of 23.66
28:25so eight
28:27in 23.38
28:29Shane Flowers
28:31that's a fast tie
28:32for Flowers
28:33and he wanted
28:34to be quick
28:35didn't he?
28:37you'd expect him
28:38to be the best
28:39in the group
28:40unless Kineskowski
28:41was firing on all cylinders
28:42which he wasn't
28:43seven for him
28:44eight for Shane
28:45I think he'll be
28:46fairly happy with that
28:47we still have a pair to go
28:48so he might get beaten
28:49but that's pretty solid
28:51representing the United States
28:53of America
28:54so Hatton
28:55the hitman
28:56maybe not his strongest event
29:00we think
29:02is Rayna Nell's wife
29:05they got married just two months ago
29:07this effectively their honeymoon
29:10I wonder how he broke that to her
29:16now that I expect Rayna Nell
29:17to be exceptional at this
29:18he's just
29:19turned out to be brilliant
29:20at everything
29:21Hatton
29:22he's not exactly built for this
29:23at six foot
29:24short leavers
29:25in terms of arms and legs
29:26but he's got some wild power too
29:28I saw him in the warm up
29:29he looked very impressive
29:30and Nell
29:32very good indeed
29:33so far so good
29:34for Nell and Hatton
29:36well Nell is taking no chances is he
29:41absolutely launching it over here
29:43but uh
29:44he's gonna get unstuck soon
29:46as he's getting closer and closer
29:47to the upright
29:48well he needs to recalibrate
29:50and that wasn't it
29:52no
29:53and uh
29:54well Hatton managed to hit it as well
29:56but got it over
29:58no
29:59got it wrong with Hatton
30:00goodness me
30:01rolls it over the bar
30:03two in a row he did that
30:04impressive
30:06this might be a metre too far I think
30:09I'm not sure what that little dance was
30:10but I enjoyed it
30:12and then
30:15there's a man who knows what he's beaten
30:17goodness me
30:18well great work
30:20and Hatton
30:21big surprise there
30:23I'm not sure this needed a replay
30:25yeah
30:26he's having a little joke with the referees
30:28who uh
30:29stopped him throwing them
30:30with one arm in the warm up
30:31said no no that's not loud
30:33well that's 1844.064
30:35Lucas Hatton
30:38and eight also for
30:39Rayno Nell
30:4129.41
30:43puts him in second
30:44yeah time matters
30:46Nell was very quick indeed
30:47he could have been quicker
30:48he definitely did a bit of ball watching
30:50as they went over each time
30:52he did what?
30:53so third place for Lucas Hatton
30:58which keeps him in the qualifying picture
31:00Rayno Nell impressing again in second
31:02but it's Shane Flowers who takes his second event win
31:05he's with Michelle
31:07Shane another event win for you
31:09second overall in the group
31:11what's going through your mind?
31:13I'll be honest
31:14I'm not happy with that
31:15I'm happy to take the five points
31:17and the event win in my group
31:19but I've done this event nine times now
31:21in a competition
31:22I've never lost
31:23never missed a bag
31:24so to break that streak
31:25sucks
31:26but I'll take the five points
31:27sat in second now going into the last event
31:29and I just want to get in that final
31:31so I'll take it
31:32and I'll use any kind of aggression or mood
31:35that I've got onto the last event
31:36and I'll make sure I send it
31:38absolutely
31:39we look forward to seeing you in it
31:40thank you
31:41thank you everybody
31:42well with just one event to go
31:44it's Rayno Nell
31:45who leads the way on his debut
31:46three points clear of Shane
31:48with Lucas Hatton
31:49Shane's closest challenger
31:50one and a half points further back
31:53sad news meanwhile
31:54Matthias Kieloskowski
31:55withdrawing from the competition
31:57due to illness
31:59four men remain to battle
32:01in our final event
32:02for those two qualifying places
32:04we'll get rolling with the stones
32:06when we return
32:07on the SPD
32:08World's Strongest Man
32:17welcome back to Sacramento
32:19it's the conclusion of group three
32:20of the 2025 SPD
32:22World's Strongest Man
32:24two places in the grand final are at stake
32:26with just one more event to go
32:28the natural stone medley
32:30this a time trial of ancient origins
32:35features four stones of varying shapes
32:38sizes and weight
32:39to be pressed
32:40shouldered
32:41carried and loaded
32:42inside 90 seconds
32:44lying in fourth overall
32:46but still with an outside chance of qualifying
32:48Evans Nana
32:49the Ghanaian gladiator
32:51was the first man out
32:52sadly Evans could only press the opening
32:57123 kilo stone
32:59and that means his chances of progress
33:01are all but done
33:02Hatton, Flowers and Nell are the three remaining hopefuls
33:07two spots in the grand final are up for grabs
33:09who will take them to the finale of group three
33:12let's hand you back to Colin and Danny
33:16representing the United States of America
33:22well big things expected of
33:24Lucas Hatton
33:26extremely good press
33:29yes well said
33:31and the first section of this stone medley
33:33it's really all about the press
33:35you've got this
33:36rectangle of stone up to your chest
33:38and then
33:39try and get your grip
33:40and that's the tricky bit
33:41if you can get that
33:43you'll have no problems
33:44throwing 125 kilos overhead
33:50well up it goes
33:51locks it out
33:52drops it
33:53absolute
33:54shoulder carry
33:57yes you've just got to
33:59lift this
34:00over 150 kilos of stone
34:02up to your shoulder
34:04it's a sort of giant sausage shape
34:07he's struggling to get his arms around this
34:09it's very wide
34:10he's chosen an interesting way to attack it
34:12lengthways
34:16probably the best way to get it up to your thighs
34:23he's very sweaty here
34:24it's very hot
34:25and he's maybe just struggling a little bit with his grip
34:28you can see he's got little tacky towels tucked into his socks
34:31this helps you stick to these stones a bit
34:33really struggling to work this out
34:36here we go
34:37tacky towels
34:38this is pine resin
34:39a little bit of tack to the stone as he tries to grip it
34:43here we go
34:44remember he's got 90 seconds so he's starting to run out of time
34:4610 left he's beaten he can't work it out
34:48that's that for Lucas Hatton
34:49one in 16.72
34:50ladies and gentlemen
34:51and then about a minute and 15 and looking at the stones
34:53he just couldn't get it
34:54i think it's to do with the sheer width of it
34:55let's not forget the weight of it
34:56you know it's nearly 350 pounds of stone it's awkward very wide
35:03well has opportunity opened up for shane flowers
35:07yes he also knows the parameters that opportunity comes in
35:12he's really got to do this faster than evans now this first stone
35:17and that was around about 13 seconds
35:20let's see how he gets on with it
35:22he has to do with the sheer width of it
35:23let's not forget the weight of it
35:24you know it's nearly 350 pounds of stone it's awkward very wide
35:26well has opportunity opened up for shane flowers
35:28yes and he also knows the parameters that opportunity comes in
35:30he's really got to do this
35:32faster than evans now
35:33now this first stone
35:34about 13 seconds
35:36let's see how he gets on with it
35:37doesn't have much fumble time with it
35:39that's for sure
35:40he gets this up quickly
35:42he's in the final
35:43i think he's in
35:44he gets the down signal does he
35:46yes yes
35:47okay so shane flowers
35:50will be in the final of world's strongest man
35:53and now
35:54it's about doing as much as he can
35:56to get as many points as he can
35:58yes i mean the equivalent of the first event of the final is
36:01those who make it into the final
36:03exactly what they did in the heat
36:05so uh
36:06the leading man will start the final with 10 points
36:10and uh
36:11he can do well here
36:12this is an awfully tricky event
36:14wow
36:16did he get that
36:17not sure he did
36:18rather like tom stoltman in the other heat
36:20he uh
36:21i feel a bit fade and went down
36:24that's a really hard event
36:26that really is that stony shoulder
36:28he's all right smiling
36:29and i don't think magnus is going to let him have another go
36:32i think that's probably it
36:33ladies and gentlemen through to his first spd
36:36well he did it
36:37the world's strongest man final
36:39shane flower
36:40another brits in the final
36:42shane flowers
36:44he did enough and he did it well
36:46one star in the time of 11 38
36:50and he's through to the spd
36:52world's strongest man final
36:54it was emotional whether he's still seeing stars
36:57because right there he was almost out of the game
36:59and uh
37:00ditched the stone he knew he was going down
37:04great moment
37:05there's his dad graham
37:06who's been to all of his big contests
37:08supporting him all along
37:09his journey in strongman
37:16big moment
37:17well done shane
37:20representing
37:21reyno nil then
37:22last to go
37:26he's a smart man
37:27he's been studying
37:30ready
37:31yes sir
37:32on the whistle
37:33the maths computation
37:34of who's going to make it into the final
37:36and uh
37:37he can't miss out now
37:38he's absolutely guaranteed to be in
37:41but this
37:42it's all about
37:43gathering points
37:44for that grand final
37:45now
37:46will be compared to
37:47the likes of
37:48tom stoltman
37:49and mitchell hooper
37:50who won their heats before him
37:52so we head into that
37:53and a good result here
37:55he chucks that up
37:56like a sack of taste
37:57no problem at all
37:58that's what i meant
37:59when he's been studying
38:00he's been working this out
38:01and
38:02that was very easy for him
38:06reyno on the uh
38:07pusevelt stone
38:08now
38:09it's been made
38:10in a mould
38:11to be similar
38:12to the uh
38:13famous icelandic
38:14carrying stone
38:15around about
38:16181
38:1782 kilos
38:18400 pounds
38:19and he finishes that
38:20with ease
38:21on to the big daddy
38:22at the end here
38:23the tombstone
38:24the end here
38:25is
38:27the end here
38:28we've seen
38:29Mitchell Hooper do this
38:32goodness me
38:33see if he can match
38:35yes he can
38:36almost threw it over
38:37yeah
38:38yeah
38:39that was almost
38:40200 kilograms
38:41of dead stone
38:43so impressive
38:44well his own family
38:45seems stunned there
38:46as if they can't believe it either
38:50this guy is very special
38:5162 seconds for all four
38:53is there anything he can't do
38:57he just seems to have
38:58all of the abilities needed
39:00for a top strongman
39:01he's going to be a danger
39:02in the final
39:03so it's Rayne O'Neill
39:07arguably the story
39:08of this year's competition so far
39:10who wins group three
39:12charging through those four stones
39:14in a little over a minute
39:16meanwhile an emotional Shane Flowers
