00:00I don't know any other way to say this other than, look, yeah, they're dogs this weekend.
00:07Yeah, it doesn't look like it's quote-unquote supposed to look.
00:10But if you can't just kind of take a moment and enjoy this ride, I don't know how else to do this.
00:18This is absolute, unbelievable theater.
00:23I bet the Niners probably helped a lot of people win their fantasy championships last night.
00:27But good Lord, this offense has hit the exact stride that we said a few weeks ago, well, they better.
00:35They better because the defense is just too hampered by injury, so the offense better be devastating.
00:42And oh my God, is it devastating.
00:45And barely devastating enough because the Bears are at the two-yard line with a chance to still beat you.
00:50Even though you score 42, you still might lose because the defense, they struggled.
00:54Golden Grady's grades tomorrow will get all the way into what he broke down as far as the defense.
00:59But the offense, my God, Brock Purdy, he is slippery.
01:03He is slithery.
01:05He is slimy.
01:06He's accurate.
01:08He's a boss.
01:09He throws the dougie.
01:10And then beyond that, like when you need players to make plays, Ricky Pearsall makes a catch.
01:15Oh, he's hurt again.
01:16Comes back, makes a catch.
01:18Oh, I think he's out again.
01:19And all through that, Trent Williams plays a grand total of one.
01:23Half play.
01:24Snap.
01:25A single play.
01:26One play and went the wrong way.
01:27Right.
01:28Yep.
01:28I mean, he went the wrong way.
01:30And the way he went eventually was chasing after a guy who had the ball.
01:33Yeah, he was running the wrong way.
01:35Exactly.
01:35That's not the way we want Trent Williams running.
01:37No, I mean, and you're not going to catch him anyway, Trent.
01:40You can go ahead and shut it down.
01:41But that's fine.
01:42And Austin Pleasance comes in and plays well enough.
01:44And the O-line was good enough.
01:46And McCaffrey was, oh my God, McCaffrey, touch number 399 on the year.
01:52He's going to be, if he has a normal McCaffrey game on Saturday, apparently, he's going to
01:58be top 20 all time in touches per year.
02:01Saturday thing bother you?
02:02Not really.
02:03Yeah.
02:04I wasn't surprised, actually.
02:06We were kind of predicting it on the show last night with the Panthers, Bucs, the Ravens,
02:12Steelers, and the Niners, Seahawks.
02:13And we were like, if the Niners win this game, which one do you think is the headliner?
02:18And actually, Ephraim was like, Niners, Seahawks.
02:20Look at the way this scoring is.
02:22This is incredible.
02:23It's so much fun.
02:24I go, right.
02:24But the Steelers-Ravens game is an elimination game.
02:27Yep.
02:27So it's actually a playoff game.
02:31And the Niners-Seahawks game, while fun, while dripping with intrigue, and it matters,
02:37loser's not going home.
02:39The loser is just packing and heading to the airport.
02:43And the other one's Carolina-Tampa.
02:45Well, that's also an elimination game.
02:47But, I mean, that's kind of the appetizer, as you like to say.
02:50Although, based on, like, pending tonight, there is a scenario where I think Carolina
02:56loses that football game next weekend and still wins the division.
02:59Oh, wow.
02:59If the Falcons win out, too.
03:01I believe.
03:02If it ends up being a three-way tie at 8-9.
03:05Wow.
03:05By the way, if it does, all three teams, you should all just get together and go away.
03:11Like, you know, everyone's searching for a way to fix that whole seeding thing.
03:15Like, oh, should you host a game if you're division?
03:17Here would be, you know how in college football you had to have, like, at least a 500 record,
03:22or you did for a long time ago to go to a bowl game?
03:25You had to be 6-6 to qualify.
03:28That would be, let's start there.
03:30If you don't have a winning record, you don't host.
03:33You can't host.
03:35You can't host at 8-9.
03:37That would, I would start there.
03:39You can still win the division, you can come to the playoffs,
03:42but that No. 5 wild card who invariably is going to have a really good record,
03:46they get you.
03:48They get you in their building if you went 8-9 or 7-10.
03:51Yeah, they'll never do that.
03:53I mean, they're all about trying to reward the division champ, and I get that.
03:56And, you know, in this division where you've got 8-8, 7-9, 6-9, 6-10.
04:01Shout out New Orleans, by the way, for not going full tank mode.
04:05New Orleans is a threat now.
04:06If only were a 28-game season, they might win that.
04:10The NFC South.
04:11Tyler's shot guy.
04:12Looks like he's got a little something.
04:13A little moxie.
04:14A little something.
04:14So, anyway, what a fun year it's been.
04:18It's not over yet.
04:19We kind of know who all the playoff teams are going to be,
04:22except for the whole Tampa Carolina thing and the Baltimore-Pittsburgh thing.
04:25But outside of that, it's just kind of how does the deck shuffle itself.
04:30And the fact that the Niners are right in the middle of all of that
04:34with everything still on the line is absolutely incredible.
04:39And as of this morning on FanDuel, Kyle Shanahan has jumped the field.
04:44And I wonder how many of you know this.
04:46As of today, Kyle Shanahan is the favorite to win Coach of the Year in the NFL.
04:53Over Vrabel.
04:54Over Vrabel, yeah.
04:55Over Liam Cohen.
04:56Over Mike McDonald, which, of course, will probably flip if Mike McDonald wins this game
05:02coming up this weekend.
05:04But Kyle Shanahan, I think we've – I've thought all along it was not going to be him.
05:10Because he's, like, too accomplished and too respected going in.
05:13But the injury situation is so intense to end up playing that game last night.
05:20No Fred, no Nick, no Trent, no George.
05:2342 points against –
05:25No Mike Kell.
05:27Right.
05:27I mean, all the way through it.
05:28And going against another 11-4 team, I don't know, man.
05:32I know it triggers a lot of Niner fans through the years whenever they're like,
05:36why does everyone call him a genius?
05:38How about now?
05:40This is a – I'll at least say this.
05:42This is a genius season from Kyle Shanahan.
05:47Eight games with Mack.
05:49Eight games with Brock.
05:51Very few – like, George out.
05:54Ricky out.
05:55Trent now out.
05:56No Nick, no Fred.
05:5812-4?
06:00Like, this is the definition of coach of the year.
06:05It's been a master class.
06:06And if you look at the red zone offense, they are No. 2 behind Philly.
06:09And yesterday they were 5-for-5 in the red zone.
06:12And so, even though the game starts in the worst possible way,
06:15other than fumbling the kickoff and having them score on that play,
06:19they score on the next play.
06:20And I'm watching with my father-in-law.
06:22Shout out Pop Pop.
06:23And my wife is there and my daughter is whatever playing Candyland,
06:26beating up on somebody else other than me for a change.
06:28And my wife is like, wait, oh, my God.
06:31Is that how the game starts?
06:33I'm like, yeah.
06:34It starts, you're down 7-0.
06:36And the overarching feeling in the room was like, oh, boy.
06:41This one – this ain't going to be good.
06:43No, I know.
06:44It's like, oh, gosh, they're going against an actual team.
06:46The Bears lead the NFL in turnovers.
06:48Yep.
06:49And it was funny.
06:49It was a great play, too.
06:51It was not a bad throw, per se.
06:53He shouldn't have thrown it.
06:54He got got.
06:55Like, Johnson stepped – he knew the route.
06:58He stepped in front of it.
06:59He made a play.
07:00He's a great player.
07:01He made – this is what the Bears do.
07:03This is how they've won their games.
07:05Look at their point differential.
07:06I think the Bears come in now today.
07:08They're 11-5.
07:09I think it's plus 29.
07:11Correct.
07:11Is that right?
07:12Yep.
07:12That's very small for that kind of a record.
07:15Way behind Detroit, who's 8-8.
07:17Right.
07:17But what Chicago does is they turn you over.
07:21They lead in turnovers.
07:22They lead in turnover differential.
07:24The whole key to the game yesterday was to protect the ball.
07:27One play in, they didn't do it.
07:28The rest of the way, they did.
07:30Yep.
07:30And therefore, outscored them by pretty much two touchdowns.
07:34The rest of the way.
07:35The rest of the way.
07:35Yep.
07:36So – and that'll be the key again this weekend.
07:39Seattle's a very, very good defense.
07:40That's going to be the key the rest of the way.
07:42Like, no matter who you face in the playoffs.
07:43And ultimately, they could wind up as the sixth seed, right?
07:46And they could go –
07:47The Niners?
07:48Yeah.
07:48Yes.
07:48That's actually most likely if they lose.
07:50If they lose, they'll be the sixth.
07:52Unless the Rams lose tonight and, you know, you get into all those machinations of, you
07:55know, what the Falcons can do, you know, to change things in the South, whatever.
07:59That wouldn't affect what the Rams are going to be.
08:01But if they wind up as the sixth, then, okay, you're going to have to go to Chicago in a
08:07rematch game in, you know, the cold confines, the drafty nature of Soldier Field, depending
08:14on how they do.
08:15Yeah.
08:15Yeah.
08:15The Bears do how – they have their tiebreaker over Philly.
08:17They beat them on Black Friday.
08:19Right.
08:19But all of this depends on what they all do this weekend.
08:22That's the other thing.
08:23Very few playoff teams can just be like, we're resting.
08:27We'll take the last week off.
08:28Like, often is the case.
08:30Right.
08:30But the one seed is endowed in both conferences.
08:33The Packers are the seven, and I think the Chargers are locked in somewhere.
08:37Yeah, and the Chargers just announced that they're resting Herbert.
08:40They're not locked in, by the way, but I think they're just waving the white flag.
08:43They're kind of like five, six, seven, whatever.
08:46Our quarterback's hand is broken, so we're going to go ahead and take the L on this one.
08:52But, yeah, everybody's got something to play for this weekend.
08:55Pretty fun.
08:56Yeah.
08:56Even through 17 games and, you know, the Niner game being a Saturday marquee,
09:00I don't mind, and it's a double short week, whatever, and it's going to be here.
09:04And so, yeah, you go ahead and do what you do, and then Sunday you clear the decks.
09:07And I don't know if this automatically means they'll play Saturday in the wild card round.
09:11I heard that thrown out as like, well, they're doing this.
09:14That way, you know, whoever loses will play on Saturday next week.
09:18It feels to me like the Niners will be a marquee Sunday game in the playoffs.
09:21Yeah, I don't think that's locked in at all.
09:23I think the thought is that Carolina-Tampa thing, whatever, will probably be a Saturday game.
09:29So they're playing on Saturday.
09:31Right.
09:31The loser between the Niners and Seahawks is no lock to end up being the team that gets to go to Carolina or Tampa.
09:38And I wonder who is the Monday night, like, we bury you on Monday night.
09:42Not that it's a burial, but that's usually like the Saturday, the first game on Saturday is the game the NFL's least interested in.
09:48Right.
09:49But then you have the standalone Monday game, and normally you don't put one of your marquee teams in there.
09:53That's got Jacksonville written all over it.
09:55Jacksonville-Houston, right?
09:56Yeah.
09:56One of those two.
09:56Yeah, or, yeah, yeah, do the Chargers end up in Jacksonville?
10:00It would be a nice Monday night game.
10:02Exactly.
10:03Something like that.
