00:00:00That's your latest travel update from us here at the station.
00:00:03It's the 1st of December, so Christmas has officially started.
00:00:07And this is a classic.
00:00:09Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock
00:00:12Jingle bell swing and jingle bell ring
00:00:16Snow and...
00:00:18Marjorie? Marjorie?
00:00:20Oh! Morning, Helen.
00:00:23Christmas begins.
00:00:24Indeed.
00:00:26Oh.
00:00:27There you go.
00:00:30Jingle bell time
00:00:31Dancing and prancing in Jingle Bell Square
00:00:35In the frosty air
00:00:38What a prime time
00:00:40Well, I could do with a nice cup of tea after that.
00:00:44I've never seen the town centre so busy.
00:00:50Oh, I'm sorry, Helen. I didn't know there was a team meeting.
00:00:52Oh, you're fine, Marjorie. I was just making a small announcement.
00:00:56You'll never believe it.
00:00:57She's only taking us away for the office Christmas party.
00:00:58It's been a tough old year.
00:01:01And I just want to say thank you to everyone for helping me get through it.
00:01:05Guess what? We're only going to the ruddy Caribbean.
00:01:08Oh, my goodness gracious me!
00:01:10Oh, although it does mean missing the away game of Colchester.
00:01:13What's that matter?
00:01:14It's the Caribbean!
00:01:16What a way to celebrate our...
00:01:17And you've properly budgeted for it, Mum?
00:01:19Yes, Neil. It's all accounted for.
00:01:21Quite sure?
00:01:21You know, I've always wanted to visit that part of the world.
00:01:28Oh, um...
00:01:30Not you, Marjorie, love. It's senior staff only.
00:01:33I am so sorry. I should have said...
00:01:35Oh, of course.
00:01:37I'm sorry, Helen.
00:01:39Silly old me.
00:01:40Duh.
00:01:40Oh, I probably should get that.
00:01:48We are so at going bikini shopping after work.
00:01:52You might treat yourself to some speed, or was...?
00:01:55Duckdale's branded merchandise. Marjorie speaking.
00:02:03Duckdale's branded merchandise. Marjorie speaking.
00:02:05I want to hear you...
00:02:07They just put in food to everyone else.
00:02:08Talk to you, Hu, hu, hu, hu...
00:02:11All the ancient foods on the planet
00:02:15Alha-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
00:02:17See the raising glory for us
00:02:20Alha-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
00:02:22Strike the harp and join the chorus
00:02:24Alha-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
00:02:26And we are very good friends
00:02:29Alha-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
00:02:31Walnuts and long foods like treasure, la-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
00:02:36See the song going down there, la-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
00:02:41Oh, my God, my God, my God, my God
00:03:01I think this is...
00:03:17This is it
00:03:18Hi, Marjorie. I just want to let you know that there's a Commissioner Patterson arriving.
00:03:37It's a serious situation over here. Give him access to anything he needs. I've told the police here that we're going to cooperate fully.
00:03:45Will do, Helen. Oh, I hear him now. Um, we'll speak later. Okay. Ah, you must be the policeman from the Caribbean. Commissioner Patterson, is it?
00:03:57Selwyn Patterson. So, um, what has actually happened out there?
00:04:02The police were called to your colleague's Holiday Villa, where, I'm sorry to say, a man was found, shot dead, murdered.
00:04:11Good morning, Miss Baudet. Morning, Seb. It's a final rehearsal for the Nativity this evening.
00:04:20I wish you all the best, and good luck to you, little king people.
00:04:24Yes, I, yes, yes.
00:04:27Allez, let's go.
00:04:28Good morning, Sarge.
00:04:38Morning, Seb. Got a card from Darlene.
00:04:41Looks like she won't make it back for Christmas.
00:04:44Her auntie's still sick, so she's staying on Montserrat.
00:04:47Nothing in the post for the inspector, you know, from Antica.
00:04:51His brother, you mean?
00:04:54It's been three months.
00:04:55I guess it's like a lot, you know? I mean, getting a letter from a breadie you never knew you had.
00:05:02Might take some time.
00:05:03I just feel sorry for him. He keeps saying he's fine about it, but I don't think he is.
00:05:11Where is D.I. Wilson?
00:05:12Rehearsing.
00:05:13Oh, yes! Oh, I am so jealous. He must be hyped up to wear that costume, huh?
00:05:19I bet he is.
00:05:21I'm really not happy about this.
00:05:23Why not, Mervin?
00:05:24Because I look like a ninny.
00:05:26No, you don't.
00:05:28You look very...
00:05:30Authentic.
00:05:32I just don't think the boots are helping.
00:05:37Look, with all due respect, Miss Baudet, I just think it'd be better off finding somebody else for this.
00:05:43You know, somebody less...
00:05:45Me.
00:05:45Mervin, it has always been the commissioner who carries out this task for me.
00:05:50With him gone.
00:05:51Inspector!
00:05:52Oh, great.
00:05:54Yes, sir.
00:05:55You look cool, man.
00:05:56Not another word.
00:05:57That's welcome.
00:05:59Could we have a chat, sir?
00:06:06We have a murder to attend.
00:06:08For real?
00:06:09Well, that's that, then.
00:06:13I've got word to do.
00:06:14Conversation over.
00:06:15Conversation paused.
00:06:16Sorry, Catherine.
00:06:17Come on, let's go.
00:06:21Inspector.
00:06:23You think maybe you should change first?
00:06:25Victim's name is Darion St. Jules.
00:06:53He's a local fisherman, lives half a mile up the coast.
00:06:56Right.
00:06:58The guests staying here are from the UK.
00:06:59They all say they haven't a clue who he is or what he was doing here.
00:07:04But clearly, someone must have shot him and left him there.
00:07:07Right.
00:07:08No sign of the gun, but paramedic sourcing with the bullet still lodged in the victim's shoulder.
00:07:14Cause of death was possibly from internal bleeding.
00:07:18Right.
00:07:19And what about you, Inspector?
00:07:21Anything of interest?
00:07:22Well, he certainly liked his aftershave.
00:07:26Have a sniff.
00:07:32I guess that's pretty strong.
00:07:34I don't know if it's because of his work.
00:07:36You know, he slapped on the old cologne to cover the smell of fish.
00:07:39I know a big man in Tootin did the same thing.
00:07:41And that's what bothers you the most.
00:07:43The fact that the victim used a bit too much aftershave.
00:07:46Actually, what's bothering me the most is what's written on the palm of his left hand.
00:07:54Blitzen.
00:07:55Like the reindeer.
00:07:57It's the only one I can think of.
00:07:59Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen.
00:08:04And Rudolf.
00:08:06Thank you, Officer Rose.
00:08:10The ink seems fresh.
00:08:12Which means he wrote it in the last 12 hours or so.
00:08:14And then not long after, he was shot.
00:08:18When it is Christmas, sir, it could just be a coincidence.
00:08:26We've no idea who this guy is or what he's doing in our villa.
00:08:29So how can we know why he wrote the name of one of Santa's reindeer on his hand?
00:08:32I don't know.
00:08:33I'm just asking the question.
00:08:35Not a problem, is it?
00:08:37No.
00:08:38No, of course not.
00:08:40Let's start with you telling me what you're doing here on St. Marie.
00:08:43Well, we flew here for our office Christmas party.
00:08:45It wasn't cheap.
00:08:47We were having the time of our lives.
00:08:52No, I'm not going to be.
00:08:54Light her beat.
00:08:55Light her beat.
00:08:56No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
00:08:58No.
00:09:00Oh, my God.
00:09:01Everyone get in.
00:09:01Maybe talk us through the events of last night.
00:09:10Yeah, what happened exactly?
00:09:12We said we'd take it easy for our last night.
00:09:24Then we got back here and carried on drinking.
00:09:26Yeah, it looks like quite a party you had.
00:09:28Yeah, damn right it was.
00:09:32Sorry, that's not appropriate.
00:09:34The rum out here, it's stronger than we used to.
00:09:39Oh, what happened to Bob?
00:09:41One more straight away and no one is our last night.
00:09:44Come on, it's our last night.
00:09:47And what time did the party end?
00:09:49I haven't got a clue, me, to be honest.
00:09:51Yeah, it's all a little bit hazy.
00:09:52I really don't remember very much.
00:09:54You lot are lightweights, man.
00:09:57I remember everything.
00:10:00Helen, you and me put Neil to bed about midnight.
00:10:03I'm sure I wasn't that bad.
00:10:04Oh, you so were.
00:10:07Oh, he's always had a low tolerance.
00:10:09Mum.
00:10:09Sorry, love.
00:10:12Can we just...
00:10:14Yeah, Helen, you went to bed as well.
00:10:17Me and you kept on it till about half three.
00:10:20Gab, you were so cute.
00:10:23You were dead to the world by then.
00:10:25So, uh, I left you asleep in the hammock.
00:10:29And then what?
00:10:32Oh, and then, um, the taxi for the airport woke me up.
00:10:37Everyone!
00:10:38Wake up!
00:10:40Wake up!
00:10:42That's when I saw him.
00:10:44I thought he was asleep at first.
00:10:46But when I got closer, I saw the blood.
00:10:48Someone call an ambulance!
00:10:50Now!
00:10:53You were in the hammock when whatever happened, happened.
00:10:56You didn't hear the gunshot?
00:10:57Well, yeah, yeah, you'd have thought.
00:10:58But, well, it's like Helen said, you know, the room out here, it's, uh...
00:11:01Stronger than you used to.
00:11:03Inspector!
00:11:06Got something you should see.
00:11:07This is the only security camera footage from the villa.
00:11:13Footage is from this morning, outside the front door.
00:11:15The victim arrives at 5.32am, heads inside.
00:11:19The door was unlocked, so he let himself in.
00:11:22After that, nobody is seen leaving or arriving.
00:11:24So the only way in or out is from the front.
00:11:27And the drop at the back is too steep for access.
00:11:29So, it's got to be one of these four who shot Darren in St. Jules.
00:11:34Which means the gun that they used must still be here.
00:11:37But they're all saying they've never met him before.
00:11:39So why would one of them kill a total stranger?
00:11:43Hello, can I help you?
00:11:57Have you come to check in?
00:11:59The name's Helen Dugdale.
00:12:00Of course, one moment, please.
00:12:03Can't believe they're not letting us fly home.
00:12:06This place overreach is what it is.
00:12:09So much for doing something different.
00:12:11You should have just gone to the Red Lion like last year.
00:12:14None of this would have happened.
00:12:17Girl, do you think there's something Helen's not telling us?
00:12:22She's been on edge ever since the police arrived.
00:12:32So why did Darian go to that villa at 5.30 in the morning?
00:12:36Let's see what we find at his house.
00:12:41How are you getting on, sir?
00:12:45Well, I haven't found anything that connects our victim to the suspects.
00:12:49But I have found this.
00:12:50The victim's aftershave.
00:12:51Really?
00:12:52This again?
00:12:53It's different to the one he was wearing at the crime scene.
00:12:55Here, have a sniff.
00:13:00I haven't found any others here.
00:13:01And there certainly wasn't one on his person.
00:13:03So why did he smell different to the brand of aftershave that he owned?
00:13:06So, I searched the suspects, the villa, and Saron and Arias.
00:13:26And there was no bond.
00:13:27No, it has to be there.
00:13:29No one left the villa after the victim was shot, so the weapon has to be there somewhere.
00:13:32Yeah, no, I totally get the logic, Inspector.
00:13:35But, you think it ain't there?
00:13:36For definite, there's no gun at the villa.
00:13:38But that doesn't make any sense.
00:13:39So, sorry.
00:13:40Excuse me.
00:13:41Hello?
00:13:42Yes!
00:13:43Well, this is a strange one.
00:13:45We've got four people suspected of shooting a man they don't know with a gun they don't have.
00:13:49Let's start working through the victim's laptop, see what's on there.
00:13:52We need to find that gun.
00:13:56What?
00:13:56Actually, sir, it's the nativity service, if you'd forgotten.
00:14:00Are you serious?
00:14:01And we promised Catherine we'd make sure you get there.
00:14:05Look, we've got a murder case to solve, in case you hadn't noticed.
00:14:09And I haven't got time for play acting with a bunch of kids at some school nativity.
00:14:12Then you better find the time, Inspector.
00:14:18Why is she...
00:14:18Good evening to you, Inspector.
00:14:21Officer Curtis, what's a pleasant surprise?
00:14:24My niece is performing in the nativity tonight.
00:14:28And word has got back to me that they might not have a narrator.
00:14:31Because the man who is supposed to be doing it is being a grumpy goose about the whole thing.
00:14:36A grumpy...
00:14:37Now, listen...
00:14:38No, you listen to me.
00:14:39You are doing it.
00:14:41End of.
00:14:42So get your backside down to that church and man up.
00:14:48You know, I never did like this sort of thing.
00:15:03The nativity, the carol services.
00:15:06Right.
00:15:06Is there anything about Christmas you do like, sir?
00:15:10No, not really.
00:15:11Oh, hang on.
00:15:11Yeah.
00:15:12The Great Escape.
00:15:14The what?
00:15:15The Great Escape.
00:15:16The movie.
00:15:17It was on telly every Christmas.
00:15:19You know, with the motorcycle stuff.
00:15:21And the cooler.
00:15:22The dirt down the trousers.
00:15:26No, I give up.
00:15:27Me too.
00:15:28Nothing with waiting.
00:15:29Ready when you are.
00:15:32Right.
00:15:35Right.
00:15:35Um...
00:15:36Here we go then.
00:15:39I guess.
00:15:40You okay?
00:16:00You okay?
00:16:03Okay, then.
00:16:04A long time ago, in the town of Nazareth, there lived a young woman named Mary.
00:16:14She was engaged to a carpenter named Joseph.
00:16:17I understand he didn't want to wear a costume, but did he really have to do it in the heart?
00:16:23And then one day, an angel called Gabriel came to Mary and said to her...
00:16:32Sorry, it was mine.
00:16:43I knew it was going to be his.
00:16:46Sir.
00:16:47Sir.
00:16:48Sir.
00:16:49Sir.
00:16:50Sir.
00:16:51Sir.
00:16:52It's someone calling from Antigua.
00:16:56It could be...
00:16:57Your brother.
00:16:58Listen, sorry, everyone.
00:16:59I need to take this, yeah?
00:17:01Well, I think one of us shoot her.
00:17:04Don't worry, Miss Baudet.
00:17:05Officer Sebastian rose to the rescue.
00:17:07Yes, my little king people.
00:17:08Wow, go on.
00:17:09Woo!
00:17:10So, a long, long time ago, in the town of Nazareth, there lived a long time ago in the town of Nazareth.
00:17:15There lived a young woman, very nice woman.
00:17:16Her name was Mary.
00:17:17She was engaged to a carpenter named Josie.
00:17:19Melvin Wilson speaking.
00:17:22Whew!
00:17:24So, a long, long time ago in a town of Nazareth,
00:17:29there lived a young woman, very nice woman, her name was Mary.
00:17:32She was engaged to a carpeter, named Josie.
00:17:43Melvin Wilson speaking.
00:17:44Mr Wilson?
00:17:45Yes.
00:17:46It's Tyrese at Kariba Phone Network.
00:17:48I just noticed your contracts coming up in the new year
00:17:50and I thought we could have a chat about upgrading your phone.
00:17:56Mr Wilson, are you still there?
00:17:58Yeah, I'm here.
00:17:59Um, no, no upgrade, thanks.
00:18:02Are you sure about that?
00:18:04Thank you, Mr Wilson.
00:18:05Thank you too, Mr Rasmus.
00:18:07Thank you very much.
00:18:08Your name is Roscoe.
00:18:09I'm so glad to have you.
00:18:11Married 21st.
00:18:12I'm so glad to have you.
00:18:13Thank you, Mr Wilson.
00:18:15I hope I have a great looking forward to this one.
00:18:17It's all.
00:18:18Bye.
00:18:19Well, everybody.
00:18:20Good morning!
00:18:22Good morning, everyone.
00:18:23I'm here for you.
00:18:24It's all right.
00:18:25I've heard the last one.
00:18:26Well, no one of you.
00:18:27Where are you?
00:18:28Certain poor shepherds,
00:18:32It feels as they lay,
00:18:36It feels as they lay,
00:18:42It feels as they lay.
00:18:58Hey sir, you didn't come back,
00:19:12Just wanted to check how you're doing.
00:19:16Yeah, it wasn't Solomon on the phone.
00:19:18Anyway, I've been thinking,
00:19:20We really don't know anything about these people.
00:19:24You know, their lives in the UK.
00:19:27I was thinking we could use someone to do a bit of digging into our suspects back in their hometown.
00:19:31Right, you want me to get in touch with the Swindon police?
00:19:33No, no, no, I've already done that.
00:19:35They fly out till New Year.
00:19:37But then I remembered, we do have someone in the UK who maybe could give us a hand.
00:19:48Ah!
00:19:49You must be the policeman from the Caribbean.
00:19:51Commissioner Patterson, is it?
00:19:53Selwyn Patterson.
00:19:55I'm no longer a commissioner.
00:19:57I'm retired now.
00:19:59Right, okay.
00:20:01So now you're just...
00:20:02Helping out.
00:20:03Somewhat reluctantly, if I'm honest with you.
00:20:06So, um, what has actually happened out there?
00:20:10The police were called to your colleague's Holiday Villa, where, I'm sorry to say, a man was found, shot dead, murdered.
00:20:18I'm keen to get on with things and get out of here as quickly as I can.
00:20:22Rightio.
00:20:23Well, I'll give you the guided tour.
00:20:26Uh, welcome to Dugdale's branded merchandise.
00:20:30Uh, so, uh, that desk over there is Helen.
00:20:33She's the managing director.
00:20:35Uh, this desk belongs to our graphic designer, Gavin.
00:20:39Uh, accounts manager, Neil.
00:20:41And Karen, head of sales.
00:20:43And this one?
00:20:44Oh, oh, she's not here anymore.
00:20:46She left a couple of months ago.
00:20:49Who?
00:20:50Uh, Ashley.
00:20:51Ashley Sims, her name was.
00:20:53It was all somewhat clandestine, if you ask me, Mr. Patterson.
00:21:00She did what they call a midnight flit.
00:21:03Never came back.
00:21:04Are you sure you don't want a cup of tea?
00:21:07I'm going to make myself one.
00:21:09This drawer is locked.
00:21:11Oh, yes.
00:21:12It's been like that since Ashley left.
00:21:14She has the only key.
00:21:15I've been meaning to sort it.
00:21:17I've been meaning to the portage.
00:21:37Commissioner.
00:21:38You do know what time it is over here, right?
00:21:40Half past three in the morning.
00:21:42Bork has abandoned a good friend's wedding to travel to Swindon.
00:21:45Unhelp you, Walt.
00:21:46Okay, fair dues.
00:21:48How can I help?
00:21:50The bullet you recovered from your victim.
00:21:52Have you had the ballistics report back on it yet?
00:21:54Yeah, it was a .45 caliber.
00:21:56Most likely fired from a pistol.
00:21:58And did you find the weapon?
00:22:00No. Why?
00:22:02Because I'm currently looking at a .45 caliber pistol in a desk drawer in Swindon.
00:22:10It can't be the same one.
00:22:12Can it?
00:22:16Good morning, sir.
00:22:30Morning, Inspector.
00:22:32This can't be right. It just can't be.
00:22:35What's going on?
00:22:36Commissioner found a gun locked in the desk drawer of an ex-employee called Ashley Simms in the Dugdale's offices back in the UK.
00:22:42What?
00:22:43Local forensic lab fast tracked it and they say that is the gun that fired the bullet that killed Darren St. Jules.
00:22:50Look, security footage shows that no one touched that drawer since the shooting.
00:22:54Wait, so how was that gun used to shoot Darren St. Jules on this island if the same gun was locked in a drawer 5,000 miles away?
00:23:01I know, right? It makes no sense.
00:23:06We need to speak to Helen Dugdale.
00:23:18Helen?
00:23:19If you're in there, can you open the door please?
00:23:21We need to speak with you about Ashley Simms.
00:23:24There's something you need to see.
00:23:31I guess I want to say sorry.
00:23:36I know it's not enough.
00:23:39And it won't change how you feel about me, but I do mean it.
00:23:45I don't know why I keep doing this.
00:23:50I blow everything up.
00:23:55But this is why I've come here.
00:24:00To get away.
00:24:01Try and understand why I hurt people.
00:24:10That's Ashley.
00:24:11The way that I do.
00:24:15She stole from me, from the company.
00:24:17How much?
00:24:18500,000 pounds.
00:24:20Ouch.
00:24:21My husband, Keith, Dugdale's was his company until he passed away at the start of the year from a heart attack.
00:24:28I'm sorry to hear that.
00:24:31That's when I took over the reins.
00:24:33I really wanted to make it work.
00:24:35And it was around that time that we had a position to fill.
00:24:37And you gave the job to Miss Simms?
00:24:40I knew she had a past, that she'd been to prison, but...
00:24:43Keith always believed in giving people a second chance and I wanted to honour that.
00:24:47But Miss Simms let you down.
00:24:49Not even a year's passed and I've already lost half a million pounds.
00:24:52Did you report Ashley to the police?
00:24:55I was too embarrassed.
00:24:56So I hired someone to find out where she sent the email from.
00:25:01And that video she recorded, that was sent from this island?
00:25:04Yes.
00:25:07Okay, so what does any of this have to do with Darian St. George?
00:25:10The man I hired discovered that Darian had rented a holiday let to Ashley.
00:25:14That's why I came here to try and get my money back.
00:25:16I made sure our villa wasn't far from Darian's house, so it would be easy to go and visit him.
00:25:21So you were lying when you told us you didn't know Darian?
00:25:23Did you meet with him?
00:25:24Yes, a few days ago.
00:25:27He confirmed that Ashley had rented this little place he has down on the beach.
00:25:31That's her.
00:25:33So she was definitely here.
00:25:35She'd arrived a few months ago, at the start of October.
00:25:39He still had all the paperwork, but he said that she'd moved on a few days ago and he didn't know where.
00:25:43So what was Darian doing turning up at your villa in the early hours yesterday?
00:25:49I don't know.
00:25:51I really don't.
00:25:52How much do the others know about this?
00:25:53Nothing.
00:25:54They don't know anything.
00:25:55They think they're on a work's due.
00:25:56Not even your son?
00:25:57No.
00:25:58Not even Neil.
00:25:59So then the only person who knew Darian and therefore wanted him killed was you?
00:26:03No.
00:26:04I swear I didn't.
00:26:06I can see how this looks.
00:26:09But I didn't shoot him.
00:26:11I don't be...
00:26:13I need to take this.
00:26:14Commissioner.
00:26:19You got something?
00:26:20Inspector.
00:26:21I've searched Ashley Simms' flat and emailed you over some photographs.
00:26:25I'm afraid there is little of use to your investigation.
00:26:28I think she cleared out her flat before she flew to the Caribbean.
00:26:32Okay.
00:26:33Thanks anyway, sir.
00:26:34Now, if that is everything, I'm going to catch my train and enjoy the rest of my Christmas.
00:26:39Yeah.
00:26:40You have a good one, sir.
00:26:41And you, Inspector.
00:26:42And you.
00:26:43You.
00:26:51Thank you for your help, Miss Gortz.
00:26:54I didn't do anything, really.
00:26:56And you're nothing if not efficient.
00:26:59So.
00:27:01What are your plans for Christmas?
00:27:03I'm spending it with my daughter and her partner.
00:27:06They've rented a cottage up in the Yorkshire Dales.
00:27:10Oh, it's lovely up there.
00:27:11So I'm told.
00:27:12I better...
00:27:13I'm flying solo this Christmas.
00:27:15I mean, that's how it's been since Mum passed.
00:27:18Just me, myself and I.
00:27:20Sorry.
00:27:21I really...
00:27:22Oh, no. No, no. I rather enjoy it, actually.
00:27:24You know, there's no family arguments.
00:27:26I can eat what I like, watch what I want on the telly.
00:27:29Christmas alone is underrated, I say.
00:27:32Indeed.
00:27:33No.
00:27:34I really don't want to miss my dream.
00:27:40Goodbye, Mr. Patterson.
00:27:42Goodbye.
00:27:43And Merry Christmas.
00:27:45And a very Merry Christmas to you.
00:27:51Four passengers on platform.
00:27:53One, awaiting the 3-15-2-3.
00:27:57Please be aware that due to Frost on the Line,
00:28:00this train is now delayed.
00:28:02Please wait for further announcements.
00:28:21So, immigration confirmed Ashley Sims arrived on the island two months ago.
00:28:26But they have no record of her ever leaving.
00:28:29So, in theory, she's still here.
00:28:34Okay, Officer Rose.
00:28:35I want you to check the harbours.
00:28:37See if anyone matching Ashley's description was taken to one of the other islands in the last few days.
00:28:40Ashley Harbour, last few days. Got you.
00:28:42Check the hotels, holiday rentals, guest houses on the island.
00:28:45Hotels, rentals, guest houses. Got you.
00:28:47You need to do whatever it takes to find her. Do you understand?
00:28:50Cool. Totally getting you right now, Inspector.
00:28:52I guess that means we're working Christmas Day, then.
00:28:54Obviously. It's a murder investigation.
00:28:56And we need to find out who did it.
00:28:58Right. Only...
00:29:00That's a lot of work for Seb to do by himself over Christmas.
00:29:03Well, my mother has a whole church thing going on,
00:29:06and everybody else is busy, so...
00:29:08It's cool.
00:29:09There you go. Sorted.
00:29:13Thanks, Seb.
00:29:14No worries. See you in a bit.
00:29:17I'll let my parents know I won't be flying home this evening.
00:29:21Appreciate it.
00:29:22Ashley Simms aside, we still don't have a scooby how the killer made the gun they shot Darian with disappear from that villa,
00:29:29then reappear in a locked desk drawer back in the UK.
00:29:34And that? Blitzen? What's that about?
00:29:37Unless it has nothing to do with Darian's murder, sir, and it is just a co...
00:29:42You don't believe in coincidences.
00:29:45I mean, in what circumstance does someone write the name of one of Sansa's reindeer on the palm of their hand?
00:29:54Are you doing all right, sir? After last night?
00:29:57Look, if Solomon doesn't want to get in touch, I'm cool with that.
00:30:00Well...
00:30:01D.S. Thomas.
00:30:02I'd rather we didn't talk about it anymore.
00:30:05Alright?

00:35:43our financial checks show that two days ago you wired 100 000 pounds from this island
00:35:48to your bank account back in england no he didn't
00:35:56what you want to tell us where you got that money from
00:36:01what did you do neil yes neil what did you do i followed you why you were acting so weird
00:36:10a few days ago when you went off by yourself i knew that it had to be about the money that
00:36:15ashley had taken i'm sorry i couldn't understand why you didn't tell me and i know you were just
00:36:19trying to protect me mom i was worried about you i was just trying to help
00:36:25so i waited until the guy darian had left doors unlocked so i let myself in there wasn't anything
00:36:32i could find until i found an old biscuit tin full of money and what did you think when you opened the
00:36:39sense of 100 000 pounds in cash inside well i still think that it was money that belonged to the
00:36:45company why else would this local fisherman of that much money in sterling in his house and that's
00:36:51why you took it because it was money that actually had stolen from us from mum

00:37:08all right okay so fast forward to the morning you're due to leave the island yeah and our victim
00:37:16turns up at 5 30. we've been trying to work out why he went there that morning but what if he realized
00:37:22that you stole from him and came to confront you about it no on my life i i didn't even see him
00:37:29that morning this aftershave it's yours right rivage mystique yeah why this is the exact same
00:37:36aftershave darian was wearing the morning of the murder right you're not suggesting that this is
00:37:44evidence i shot him why would i kill someone and then spray him with my own aftershave
00:37:52darian definitely smelt of this when we found him but why
00:37:58what if there was another smell the killer was trying to hide you know a bit like a bin man
00:38:05yeah but what

00:44:40no
00:44:42no
00:44:46no
00:44:50I'm sorry you couldn't get to spend it with your daughter.
00:45:19It's not your fault.
00:45:20If anyone's to blame, it's the British transport system, which I am told is not on command.
00:45:27I mean, I'd like to say you get used to it by belaying.
00:45:30Just a minute.
00:45:45Is that the seat?
00:45:46I can't hear.
00:45:47Yeah.
00:45:48I'm at the shack.
00:45:49It's beautiful out here.
00:45:52It's a really clear night.
00:45:53But then all nights are like that here, aren't they?
00:45:55The moon here is a little more grey than I remember it in St. Marie.
00:46:00I'm just wondering if I made a mistake staying on in St. Marie.
00:46:13Why?
00:46:14Because I know I'm not good when I put myself on the line.
00:46:18I feel like I'm just hanging around, waiting.
00:46:21Your brother?
00:46:22I don't think he wants to get in touch.
00:46:34I'm sorry, it's not really your problem anymore, is it?
00:46:36Whether I stay or go.
00:46:37It still feels like it is.
00:46:39It still feels like it is.
00:46:43Inspector, if you are not sure what to do, the only advice I can offer is that you put
00:46:50your trust in that island.
00:46:52If St. Marie won't bring your brother to you, then perhaps it will bring you someone or something else.
00:47:19Be patient.
00:47:20Yeah, well, you know patience isn't my forte, right?
00:47:25I know.
00:47:27But what am I supposed to do in the meantime?
00:47:29Might I suggest you focus on solving that case, you have.
00:47:36You're missed here, you know.
00:47:43Good night, Inspector.
00:47:50Blitzen, why Blitzen?
00:48:04Blitzen, why Blitzen?
00:48:08Blitzen, why Blitzen?
00:48:10Officer Rose?
00:48:11Inspector?
00:48:12What's up?
00:48:13I wanted to come and say I'm sorry for spending all that money you don't have in your budget.
00:48:29So, I wanted to pay it back.
00:48:36There's three hundred and twenty-two dollars and eighty-six cents in there, which I took from my savings.
00:48:41I mean, it's all my savings, but that's cool.
00:48:44And if you deduct twenty dollars from my wages each month, you should be paid back in about two years, I reckon.
00:48:53Officer Rose, you've got a good heart. Anyone ever tell you that?
00:48:59Well, my auntie, like, all the time, you know.
00:49:06Take this.
00:49:06What I thought...
00:49:07You don't have to pay anything back.
00:49:10We'll find in the budget.
00:49:12And there's no need to apologise, alright?
00:49:15In fact, I should apologise for blazing at you like that.
00:49:19What you did was, um, was really good work.
00:49:24Anyway, come on.
00:49:25I've got a new lead, let's go and wait, Diaz, turn us up.
00:49:29He can't keep doing this.
00:49:37Happy Boxing Day, Diaz Thomas.
00:49:40Listen, um, I want to apologise for losing it and ruining Christmas.
00:49:48I'll make it up to you. I promise.
00:49:53And you were right about me taking it out on you because of Solomon.
00:49:59I just really wanted it, you know?
00:50:05I'm sorry too.
00:50:08Good morning, Sarge.
00:50:09The inspector tell you the good news yet.
00:50:12He's only going to make a big breakthrough in the case,
00:50:14which is a big relief because I was drawing a blank.
00:50:21So I've been going through Darien St. Jules' phone records
00:50:24and he phoned someone the day before he was murdered.
00:50:27A friend of his called Trishawn King.
00:50:29Now, he was over on Montserrat for Christmas.
00:50:32So I asked Darlene to speak with him.
00:50:34Darlene?
00:50:35Darlene?
00:50:35Last night?
00:50:36Yeah.
00:50:37And how was she with that?
00:50:39You know, she was cool with it.
00:50:41Inspector, it's Christmas Day.
00:50:45What in God's name do you think you're doing?
00:50:51Anyway, it turned out Darien feared for his life
00:50:54and was asking Trishawn where he can get hold of a gun for protection.
00:50:58He thought someone was going to kill him.
00:51:01Did he say who?
00:51:03But he did say he was caught up in something he shouldn't have.
00:51:05And get this, he thought the woman he was trying to help had been murdered.
00:51:09Now I'm caught up in it all.
00:51:11And now he was worried that he was going to suffer the same fate.
00:51:13Whoa, wait.
00:51:15Darien told Trishawn he thought Ashley Sims was murdered?
00:51:19But it would explain why no one's seen her the last few days.
00:51:21So then, if this is true, that means that whoever killed Ashley Sims
00:51:25probably also murdered Darien St. Jude.
00:51:28To silence him.
00:51:29So what we need to start looking for now is anyone who had a reason to kill Ashley Sims.
00:51:34But both Helen and Neil Dogdale to start with.
00:51:37Ashley stole half a million pounds from their company.
00:51:40And there's someone else as well.
00:51:49We've been looking at your phone records.
00:51:51And these, Miss Hickson, are text messages from you to Ashley Sims
00:51:54just before she came out of here.
00:51:56You'll regret ever meeting me.
00:51:58Stay away from my boyfriend or else I'm not afraid to hurt you.
00:52:04The list goes on.
00:52:05Care to explain?
00:52:08They had a thing, right?
00:52:11Gavin and Ashley had a thing behind my back, or sort of.
00:52:15Sort of?
00:52:18Yeah, like it wasn't like a real thing, like they never really got together.
00:52:20But he liked her.
00:52:24Yeah.
00:52:26God knows why.
00:52:27She was weird.
00:52:28But I think Gav liked that about her.
00:52:30And he called things off between us.
00:52:35And that's when I started warning her off.
00:52:37Guess I just got a bit carried away.
00:52:40I just...
00:52:41I just didn't want to lose him.
00:52:44And you didn't.
00:52:45Now that Ashley's conveniently disappeared,
00:52:48you've got Gavin to yourself now, haven't you?
00:52:49What?
00:52:51Is that what you think?
00:52:52That I killed her?
00:52:56No, I wouldn't.
00:52:58I didn't.
00:53:00It'll be about Gavin.
00:53:02We need to tell him what we know.
00:53:05Ashley called things off with Gav.
00:53:06Why would I kill her?
00:53:07Inspector.
00:53:10You need to hear the truth.
00:53:11What?
00:53:12And I'm afraid you're not going to get that from her.
00:53:14No disrespect, Karen.
00:53:16Yo, come on, man.
00:53:17What are you saying?
00:53:19Whatever she's told you, it's ten times worse.
00:53:21Neil, what are you saying?
00:53:22Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
00:53:23You've had your chance.
00:53:24Go on.
00:53:25He had a thing for Ashley.
00:53:27Is that it?
00:53:29We already know.
00:53:29No, it was more than that.
00:53:31Gavin was obsessed.
00:53:33When Ashley said they couldn't see each other anymore,
00:53:35he had to take time off work.
00:53:36And I've seen the posters you've been putting up.
00:53:37If Ashley's gone missing, then I'm telling you,
00:53:40it'll have something to do with Gavin.
00:53:42Inspector.
00:53:48Someone's just broken into the villa where Darion was shut.
00:54:11Mr Bradbury.
00:54:18This doesn't look good at all.
00:54:21But then I don't think you need me to tell you that.
00:54:24You want to start by telling us what we're going to find in that pool you've just emptied?
00:54:35And we know it's not the gun used to kill Darion St. Jules, because that's currently sitting in a police station somewhere in Swindon.
00:54:50So what's down there?
00:54:52Why have you come back to the crime scene, Gavin?
00:54:54What's so important?
00:54:55Inspector!
00:54:56Found something.
00:54:59What is it?
00:55:00A bullet.
00:55:01One that's been fired.
00:55:02Why is there a bullet in the pool, Gav?
00:55:10It's like keepsake.
00:55:15Something to remember Ashley by.
00:55:16A bullet?
00:55:20There are other things that I've got of hers as well, like...
00:55:26More like normal things.
00:55:27I'm really not interested in those, funny enough.
00:55:29Ashley, she's...
00:55:33She's not like anyone I've ever met before.
00:55:34Like, it was exciting being around her.
00:55:36And her life was so different to mine.
00:55:39Yeah, I hear that.
00:55:41The bullet.
00:55:42Yeah.
00:55:44She has a gun.
00:55:46She was looking after it as a favour for someone that she knew from prison.
00:55:49And she...
00:55:50Well, we went out to the woods one day and she let me fire it.
00:55:55It was amazing, right?
00:55:57It was, you know, like exhilarating.
00:55:59And I went and got one of the bullets.
00:56:01You know, like I said, that I would keep it with me to remind me of her.
00:56:05And they say romance is dead.
00:56:08So why did it end up in the pool?
00:56:11I panicked.
00:56:12When there was that dead guy and Neil called the police.
00:56:16I was worried that if you found it, you'd think it was me that shot him.
00:56:19So I took it out and I was wondering what to do and...
00:56:24I dropped it.
00:56:24It fell in the pool.
00:56:28And the more you were sniffing around, the more I started to worry that you'd find it.
00:56:31So I came back and I...
00:56:35So you loved Ashley then?
00:56:38Yeah, I guess, yeah.
00:56:41Must have really hurt when she ended things.
00:56:43Gavin, we believe Ashley Sims was murdered on this island in the last few days.
00:56:51What? No. What? If she can't be?
00:56:53And we're kind of wondering if maybe you did it.
00:56:55Me?
00:56:57Why would I kill Ashley?
00:56:58Because you couldn't have her and it hurt like hell.
00:57:01No, no, no, no. You've got this wrong.
00:57:02I didn't kill her.
00:57:03I owe that man.
00:57:05You seem a bit edgy, Gavin.
00:57:09Is there something you aren't telling us?
00:57:11There's nothing.
00:57:13Really, there is nothing.
00:57:14What is it that he's not saying?
00:57:29What is it that he's not saying?
00:57:36Hey, this is Ashley's phone. You know what to do.
00:57:39Ashley, it's me.
00:57:41We need to talk. I'm worried about you.
00:57:43The police have been asking questions and I think they know about us, so...
00:57:47Just let me know what you want me to do, yeah?
00:57:50Please call me back.
00:57:52I love you.
00:57:59You all right, sir? You seem a bit tense.
00:58:08I just can't work this one out.
00:58:10I mean, we've got one potential murder victim whose body we haven't found,
00:58:14another murder victim whose body we have found,
00:58:17but that murder weapon was locked in a desk drawer on the other side of the world when that murder took place.
00:58:21I mean, where do we even start?
00:58:23Well, sounds like you need to go get a little shoulder rope, you know?
00:58:26Release some of that tension.
00:58:29No, you all right, Officer Rose?
00:58:33This guy again.
00:58:35Listen, mate, I told you before I'm not interested in upgrading to another phone,
00:58:39so stop calling me, yeah?
00:58:41Is that Mervyn Wilson?
00:58:43Yeah, it's still Mervyn Wilson and I'm still not interested.
00:58:46It's me, Solomon, your brother.
00:58:55Are you there, Mervyn?
00:58:56Mervyn?
00:58:58Mervyn?
00:59:00Yes.
00:59:02Yes, he's here.
00:59:03Don't hang up.
00:59:03Uh, Solomon.
00:59:17It's Mervyn.
00:59:19Yeah, it's always, you know that.
00:59:21Um, look mate, I'm sorry, I just wasn't expecting your call.
00:59:26Yeah, I know.
00:59:27I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get in touch, but it was, you know.
00:59:33No, no, no, mate, I totally understand, yeah?
00:59:35I mean, it's a process, right?
00:59:38But, um, hey, you're calling now, aren't you?
00:59:41Yeah, man, it's a process.
00:59:42But I'm glad to be calling now.
00:59:48Are you still there?
00:59:51Mervyn?
00:59:52Yeah, yeah, I'm still here.
00:59:54Um, look, um, Solomon, I'm really, really sorry to do this to you.
01:00:02And I am so glad you called and that we're finally speaking.
01:00:05And I really, really want us to talk again.
01:00:08But right now, there's something I need to do, yeah?
01:00:14Yeah, man, no problem, go tell it soon.
01:00:18That was quick.
01:00:19Officer Rose, that billboard, you did that, right?
01:00:22Yes, sir, I did.
01:00:24But you should already have the invites for that.
01:00:26It's not going to cost any extra.
01:00:27No, no, I don't care about the cost.
01:00:29It was worth every penny.
01:00:29Come, come, look.
01:00:32You see, all along, we've been looking at Ashley's footage on phone screens and laptops, yeah?
01:00:42Well, they were too small.
01:00:45I don't understand.
01:00:46You see where Ashley is?
01:00:48This is a still from the video she made.
01:00:50And in the background, there's a ship passing by.
01:00:53Now, before that was just a speck, but now you've blown it up.
01:00:57Look at it.
01:00:59What about the ship?
01:01:00Look at what it's called.
01:01:04Blitzen.
01:01:04Blitzen.
01:01:07Yeah?
01:01:07Now we know.
01:01:09Oh, Officer Rose, if you were so tall, I'd kiss you.
01:01:12Why would Darien write the name of that ship on his hands?
01:01:16Well, he obviously saw the footage himself and then, um, he saw something in it.
01:01:22But what?
01:01:23Listen, it's like she's vanished into thin air.
01:01:31It's why I've come here.
01:01:32I thought I was helping someone.
01:01:34You know what?
01:01:36I think I'm starting to work out what went down here.
01:01:39But I need to make a phone call.
01:01:42And you need to get onto airport security.
01:01:44Come on.
01:01:47All right, mate.
01:01:47Much appreciated.
01:01:48Cheers.
01:01:51Wow.
01:01:52What's wow?
01:01:55So, that ship behind Ashley Sims, it's owned by a Scandinavian container shipping company.
01:02:01Now we know from the information on that footage, Ashley recorded it on the 4th of October, right?
01:02:06Right.
01:02:07Well, check this.
01:02:08The Blitzen was passing by the south coast of England on the 4th of October.
01:02:13Thousands of miles from the Caribbean.
01:02:14So, Ashley recorded that video on a beach back in the UK.
01:02:18Which means she was never even here.
01:02:21Inspector, the airport just emailed over security camera footage the day Ashley Sims arrived on the island.
01:02:29Wait, she was here?
01:02:32Thank you for a wonderful Christmas, Marjorie.
01:02:34Oh, it's been lovely.
01:02:35Let me give you a hand with that.
01:02:37Oh, don't be daft.
01:02:38You don't know where anything goes.
01:02:40Then you can tell me.
01:02:41It's the least I can do.
01:02:44Living room, sideboard drawer.
01:02:45Living room, sideboard drawer.
01:02:51But if Ashley Sims has never been here before, why do immigration records show that she has?
01:02:56Because someone else came pretending to be Ashley.
01:02:59Presumably on a fake passport.
01:03:01And that someone paid Darian 100k to lie and say Ashley rented his property for the past few months.
01:03:06But why would they do that?
01:03:07To misdirect and confuse anyone looking for her.
01:03:10Because they'd already killed Ashley and taken the money.
01:03:13So one of our four suspects has been here three months previously.
01:03:16Which is why we're going through this footage, because it will show who was pretending to be Ashley Sims.
01:03:23There.
01:03:24Why didn't I see that before?
01:03:25Why I've come here to try and understand why I hurt people.
01:03:30No, it was more than that.
01:03:31Gavin was obsessed.
01:03:32Of course.
01:03:33After that, nobody is seen leaving or arriving.
01:03:36So it's got to be one of these four who shot Darian St. Jules.
01:03:40You were in the hammock when whatever happened, happened.
01:03:43You didn't hear the gunshot?
01:03:44It's like Helen said, you know, the room out here is stronger than you used to.
01:03:47What if there was another smell the killer was trying to hide?
01:03:51It makes perfect sense now.
01:03:53For definite, there's no gun at the villa.
01:03:55The commissioner found the gun locked in the desk drawer at Dougdale's offices back in the UK.
01:03:59We need to call the commissioner.
01:04:01The commissioner?
01:04:02Why?
01:04:03Because he's with the killer as we speak.
01:04:17Come on, sir, pick up.
01:04:22And what about these ones?
01:04:24Same drawer.
01:04:31I've always wanted to go to the Caribbean.
01:04:34I said the same drawer.
01:04:47I said the same drawer.
01:04:51That necklace, the stone is lithmer, unique to St. Marie.
01:05:05You told me you always wanted to go to the Caribbean like you've never been.
01:05:10You were lying.
01:05:13You were lying.
01:05:14No, no, Selwyn.
01:05:17I...
01:05:17It was you that went to St. Marie three months ago.
01:05:22If Ashley never went then, is she dead?
01:05:24Oh, I'm sorry.
01:05:25Oh, I'm sorry.
01:05:27I didn't mean to.
01:05:30It just happened.
01:05:32I think you should put the knife down, though.
01:05:40I don't know.
01:05:45Please.
01:05:49Oh...
01:05:50that video she made it wasn't in the Caribbean was it Bournemouth on a Sunday she'd she'd gone
01:06:03to the seaside she realized she'd made a mistake stealing that money didn't she then she wanted
01:06:11to give the money back and send the video as an apology I want to say sorry don't know why I keep
01:06:19doing this Miss Sims didn't leave the country I'd gone in to the office that day to deal with an
01:06:27order that had gone wrong it wasn't my fault but I was the one who had to go in and fix it and then
01:06:34when I let myself in I found Ashley there and I knew I knew straight away what the money was you
01:06:41you overhear a lot when you sit at reception all day I knew it was you and I went to call the
01:06:48police wait I'm giving the money back please I'm calling the police now don't do this to me
01:06:57you're not and Ashley tried to stop me I won't let you Marjorie get off me pushed her off me
01:07:04and I wasn't even supposed to be in that day but it's like I told you nobody nobody cares for me
01:07:26there they just take me for granted and you saw the money and thought finally you could take
01:07:36something back for yourself all you had to do was dispose of the body
01:07:42and then you made a fake passport in Ashley's name oh that wasn't hard you know with all the
01:08:03kit we've got in the office you flew on that passport to Saint Marie to make it look as if Miss Sims had run
01:08:11away to the other side of the world and rented our property there for the last few months
01:08:17you know I really did want to go to the Caribbean it's just that I never had the chance or the money
01:08:27until and if you were going to misdirect from what really happened here in Swindon where the dead body
01:08:35nothing was then the farther away the better and no one would realize
01:08:41until things started to go wrong and you received a phone call
01:08:52you're saying Marjorie killed Ashley Sims our receptionist that Marjorie that Marjorie yes Marjorie
01:09:06Dodds the receptionist killed Ashley Sims in England and made it look as if she ran away to the
01:09:11Caribbean with your 500k oh I did not see that coming so which one of us shot the man found in our
01:09:17swimming pool it wasn't any of you but it had to be you said so no one else was here yeah you're
01:09:24right I did say that but what I didn't know then was that Darien St Jules wasn't shot at your villa
01:09:30it just looked like he was that's why no gunshot was heard because there wasn't one he'd already been
01:09:38shot we know now from our colleague in the UK that Marjorie had paid Darien money she came to the
01:09:48island three months ago on a forged passport and she gave him 100,000 pounds to lie and cover if
01:09:55anyone ever came to the island asking after Ashley she'd convinced him he was doing a favor for a very
01:10:01vulnerable friend of hers but when you visited him a few days ago Mrs. Dogdale asking questions
01:10:07mentioning the missing 500 grand Darien started to wonder what he got himself involved in and when
01:10:13he re-watched that footage more closely the footage of Ashley you'd shown him as an experienced fisherman
01:10:18who knew the waters of St Marie very well something about it bothered him zooming in he was able to
01:10:24read the name of the boat Blitzen he knew this was not a St Marie vessel she worked out that the video
01:10:32of Ashley was actually shot in the UK and having heard from you Mrs. Dogdale that Ashley went missing
01:10:39with 500 grand of your money Darien started to realize that Ashley had never been to the island
01:10:45he'd only ever met Marjorie so he phoned Ms. Dodds asking what was going on
01:10:50we need to talk listen Darien you've got this all wrong all throughout this case we thought Darien's
01:11:03killer had to be one of you four the one person we never suspected was Marjorie Dodds it was all the
01:11:10way back in Swindon or so we thought with Darien threatening to go to the police Marjorie asked him to
01:11:16hang fire and she would fly out here and speak to him in person Marjorie was here on this island at
01:11:22the exact same time we were yeah she arrived the night before Darien was shot and flew back to the
01:11:27UK the next morning unable to convince Darien to keep quiet and carry on with the lie Marjorie started
01:11:34to grow desperate worried he'd tell the police if you give you more money how much just tell me and
01:11:39i'll give it to you we know Darien was searching around for a gun for self-protection i just want
01:11:46you to leave now he never expected Marjorie would use it against him
01:11:53after shooting Darien Marjorie left and headed for the airport before getting back on the plane
01:12:09arriving at Dugdale's offices just in time to meet with our very own Commissioner Patterson
01:12:15if Marjorie shot Darien at his house how did he end up at our villa Marjorie thought she killed him
01:12:21but what she didn't know when she left Darien's place was that he was still alive
01:12:29it was the fact that he smelled so strongly of someone else's aftershave they helped us work it out
01:12:33Neil's aftershave in fact we thought it was there to cover up another smell that we now know was
01:12:40antiseptic the stuff used to clean up a wound because as soon as Marjorie quit the scene
01:12:46Darien regained consciousness and patched himself up as far as he was concerned the
01:12:51bullet was just lodged in his shoulder wasn't life-threatening so he put on a fresh t-shirt
01:12:56and headed off for the hospital to get it properly seen to but on the way it passed your villa which
01:13:01was just half a mile down the road and i think Darien intended to alert you to what had gone down
01:13:08he stopped here to tell you the truth about Ashley and to warn you about what Marjorie had done
01:13:13that's why he came here that morning to tell you what your colleague had done to Ashley and in turn
01:13:19to him to make sure it didn't happen to anyone else but what Darien didn't know was that his wound was
01:13:26worse than he thought and he was bleeding internally and so despite his brave effort to alert you all to
01:13:32the truth he died here in your villa but then someone proceeded to stage the scene as if he was shot in
01:13:43this villa didn't you mr. Bradbury me what we don't know of course not no and you did it because Ashley told
01:13:54you to you're crazy Ashley I don't know what you're talking about let me have your phone
01:14:05Gavin please
01:14:09it's okay unlock it
01:14:25bingo text messages seemingly from Ashley Sims from the moment she disappeared right up to today
01:14:31but all of these were sent by Marjorie Dodds
01:14:37who kept Ashley's phone after she killed her
01:14:39what no you know you're wrong she can't be texting her
01:14:42no this whole time Karen I'm sorry look look no Karen
01:14:47and here proof of what happened messages exchanged on the morning of Darien's death
01:14:52because despite what you told us Gavin you were actually the first to discover Darien's body
01:14:59you knew who Darren was because Ashley had told you all about him and so you contacted Ashley
01:15:06left a message telling her that Darien had turned up to the villa and died and asking her what was
01:15:11going on a few minutes later she or rather Marjorie texted back see Marjorie realized that if the police
01:15:20were called and found Darien with his wound patched up they'd know he was shot somewhere else and the
01:15:26trail would lead right back to her so she had to do two things first she texted you with instructions
01:15:34second she had to clear up the real scene of the crime Marjorie's confessed to her colleague in the
01:15:38UK that she quickly doubled back from the airport and returned to Darien's house before disposing of
01:15:42the gun and the t-shirt he was wearing when she shot him meanwhile you move the body outside to the
01:15:46swimming pool there's also mention here of that bullet you kept as a memento in the text messages
01:15:52you sent to Ashley well that's how Marjorie knew so as Ashley she asked you to remove the bullet she
01:15:58killed Darien with and replace it with the one she knew you had however in your haste you must have
01:16:07dropped the bullet you extracted into the swimming pool but you knew you could come back and retrieve it
01:16:13later once you switched the bullets the heartbeat was over you dispose of the dressing
01:16:21then made a hole in his t-shirt and let the blood around the wound soak in so now it looked like
01:16:28Darien had been shot after he entered the villa not before the last problem you had was getting rid of
01:16:34that antiseptic smell because that stuff lingers right and if the police noticed it we'd certainly
01:16:39be asking who cleaned up the wound and why so you ran into the bathroom and got hold of some aftershave
01:16:45kneels and doused him in it so now all you had to do was pretend to be asleep when mrs. dogdale
01:16:51discovered the body Gavin we need to get to the airport you gotta pack leaving us without a scooby as
01:16:58to how a man was shot with a gun that was locked in a desk drawer five thousand miles away in a swindon
01:17:03warehouse in the end it wasn't just the police that marjorie dodds had juped it was you as well
01:17:09Gavin you see you thought you were helping the woman you loved a woman you'd do anything for when
01:17:16you're actually helping her killer
01:17:24officer rose
