00:00:38In the frosty air
00:00:42Well, I'll get you with a nice cup of tea after that.
00:00:46I've never seen the town centre so busy.
00:00:52Oh, I'm sorry, Helen. I didn't know there was a team meeting.
00:00:55Oh, you're fine, Marjorie. I was just making a small announcement.
00:00:58You'll never believe it.
00:00:59She's only taking us away for the office Christmas party.
00:01:02It's been a tough old year.
00:01:04And I just want to say thank you to everyone for helping me get through it.
00:01:08Guess what? We're only going to the ruddy Caribbean.
00:01:11Oh, my goodness gracious me!
00:01:13Oh, although it does mean missing the away game of Colchester.
00:01:17What's that matter?
00:01:18It's the Caribbean!
00:01:20And you've properly budgeted for it, Mum?
00:01:23Yes, Neil. It's all accounted for.
00:01:25Quite sure?
00:01:27You know, I've always wanted to visit that part of the world.
00:01:32Oh, um...
00:01:35Not you, Marjorie Love. It's senior staff only.
00:01:38I am so sorry. I should have said.
00:01:40Oh!
00:01:41Of course.
00:01:42Um...
00:01:43I'm sorry, Helen.
00:01:44Silly old me.
00:01:45Duh!
00:01:50Oh, I...
00:01:51Probably should get that.
00:01:53We are so...
00:01:54We are so going bikini shopping after work tonight.
00:01:58You might treat yourself to some speed, or was...?

00:03:26Wizard
00:03:39Hi, Marjorie
00:03:42I just want to let you know that there's a Commissioner Patterson arriving
00:03:46It's a serious situation over here
00:03:51Give him access to anything he needs
00:03:54I've told the police here that we're going to cooperate fully
00:03:57Will do, Helen
00:03:57Oh, I hear him now
00:03:59Um, we'll speak later
00:04:01Okay
00:04:01Ah
00:04:03You must be the policeman from the Caribbean
00:04:06Commissioner Patterson, is it?
00:04:09Selwyn Patterson
00:04:10So, um, what has actually happened out there?
00:04:15The police will call to your colleague's Holiday Villa
00:04:18Where, I'm sorry to see, a man was found
00:04:21Shot dead
00:04:22Murdered
00:04:39Murdered
00:04:40Murdered
00:04:59Murdered
00:05:04Good morning, Miss Baudet.
00:05:10Morning, Seb.
00:05:11It's a final rehearsal for the Nativity this evening.
00:05:14I wish you all the best, and good luck to you, little king people.
00:05:19Yes, yes, yes.
00:05:21Allez, let's go.
00:05:31Good morning, Sarge.
00:05:33Morning, Seb.
00:05:34Got a card from Darlene.
00:05:36Looks like she won't make it back for Christmas.
00:05:39Her auntie's still sick, so she's staying on Montserrat.
00:05:42Nothing in the post for the inspector, you know, from Antica.
00:05:47His brother, you mean?
00:05:49It's been three months.
00:05:51I guess it's like a lot, you know?
00:05:53I mean, getting a letter from a brother you never knew you had.
00:05:58Might take some time.
00:05:59I just feel sorry for him.
00:06:01He keeps saying he's fine about it, but I don't think he is.
00:06:07Where is D.I. Wilson?
00:06:09Rehearsing.
00:06:09Oh, yes.
00:06:11Oh, I am so jealous.
00:06:13He must be hyped up to wear that costume, huh?
00:06:15I bet he is.
00:06:18I'm really not happy about this.
00:06:20Why not, Mervyn?
00:06:22Because I look like a ninny.
00:06:23No, you don't.
00:06:25You look very...
00:06:28authentic.
00:06:28I just don't think the boots are helping.
00:06:35Look, with all due respect, Miss Bourdais,
00:06:37I just think it'd be better off finding somebody else for this.
00:06:41You know, somebody less...
00:06:43me.
00:06:44Mervyn, it has always been the commissioner
00:06:46who carries out this task for me.
00:06:49With him gone.
00:06:50Inspector!
00:06:51Oh, great.
00:06:52Yes, sir.
00:06:54You look cool, man.
00:06:55Not another word.
00:06:56That's wrong, man.
00:06:58Could we have a chat, sir?
00:07:05We have a murder to attend.
00:07:08For real?
00:07:11Well, that's that, then.
00:07:13I've got word to do.
00:07:14Conversation over.
00:07:15Conversation paused.
00:07:16Sorry, Catherine.
00:07:17Come on, let's go.
00:07:20Um...
00:07:21Inspector.
00:07:22You think maybe you should change first?
00:07:25Victim's name is Darion St. Jules.
00:07:54He's a local fisherman, lives half a mile up the coast.
00:07:58Right.
00:08:00The guests staying here are from the UK.
00:08:01They all say they haven't a clue who he is
00:08:04or what he was doing here.
00:08:06But clearly, someone must have shot him and left him there.
00:08:10Right.
00:08:12No sign of the gun,
00:08:13but paramedics are saying
00:08:14with the bullets still lodged in the victim's shoulder,
00:08:17cause of death was possibly from internal bleeding.
00:08:20Right.
00:08:22And what about you, Inspector?
00:08:24Anything of interest?
00:08:27Well, he certainly liked his aftershave.
00:08:30Have a sniff.
00:08:30I guess that's pretty strong.
00:08:37I don't know if it's cause of his work.
00:08:40You know, slapped on the old cologne
00:08:41to cover the smell of fish.
00:08:43I know a bit of a man in Tootin did the same thing.
00:08:45And that's what bothers you the most?
00:08:47The fact that the victim used a bit too much aftershave?
00:08:50Actually, what's bothering me the most
00:08:54is what's written on the palm of his left hand.
00:08:58Blitzen.
00:08:59Like the reindeer.
00:09:01It's the only one I can think of.
00:09:04Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen,
00:09:07Comet, Cupid, Donna, Blitzen.
00:09:10And Rudolph.
00:09:11Thank you, Officer Rose.
00:09:15The ink seems fresh.
00:09:17Which means he wrote it in the last 12 hours or so.
00:09:21And then not long after, he was shot.
00:09:24When it is Christmas, sir,
00:09:26could just be a coincidence.
00:09:33We have no idea who this guy is
00:09:34or what he's doing in our villa,
00:09:36so how can we know why he wrote the name
00:09:37of one of Santa's reindeer on his hand?
00:09:39I don't know.
00:09:40I'm just asking the question.
00:09:41Not a problem, is it?
00:09:44No.
00:09:45No, of course not.
00:09:47Let's start with you telling me
00:09:48what you're doing here on St. Marie.
00:09:50Well, we flew here for our office Christmas party.
00:09:53It wasn't cheap.
00:09:55We were having the time of our lives.
00:10:00Life's a beat.
00:10:03Life's a beat.
00:10:04No, no, no, no, no, no.
00:10:06No!
00:10:08Oh, my God.
00:10:08Everyone get in.
00:10:09Maybe talk us through the events of last night.
00:10:18Yeah, what happened exactly?
00:10:20We said we'd take it easy for our last night.
00:10:22Then we got back here and carried on drinking.
00:10:36Yeah, looks like quite a party you had.
00:10:37Yeah, damn right it was.
00:10:42Sorry, that's not appropriate.
00:10:44The rum out here, it's stronger than we used to.
00:10:47And what time did the party end?
00:10:59I haven't got a clue, mate, to be honest.
00:11:01Yeah, it's all a little bit hazy.
00:11:03I really don't remember very much.
00:11:05You lot are lightweight, man.
00:11:08I remember everything.
00:11:11Helen, you and me put Neil to bed about midnight.
00:11:14I'm sure I wasn't that bad.
00:11:15Oh, you so, uh...
00:11:17Oh, he's always had a low tolerance.
00:11:20Mum?
00:11:21Sorry, love.
00:11:23Can we just...
00:11:25Yeah, Helen, you went to bed as well.
00:11:29Me and you kept on it till about half three.
00:11:34Gab, you were so cute.
00:11:35You were dead to the world by then.
00:11:37So, uh, I left you asleep in the hammock.
00:11:42And then what?
00:11:45Oh, and then, um, the taxi for the airport woke me up.
00:11:50Everyone!
00:11:51Wake up!
00:11:53Wake up!
00:11:55That's when I saw him.
00:11:57I thought he was asleep at first.
00:11:59But when I got closer, I saw the blood.
00:12:02Someone call an ambulance!
00:12:03Now!
00:12:06You were in the hammock when whatever happened, happened.
00:12:09You didn't hear the gunshot?
00:12:11Well, yeah, yeah, you'd have thought.
00:12:12But, well, it's like Helen said, you know,
00:12:14the woman out here, it's, uh...
00:12:15Stronger than you used to.
00:12:18Inspector!
00:12:20That's something you should see.
00:12:24This is the only security camera footage from the villa.
00:12:27Footage is from this morning, outside the front door.
00:12:30The victim arrives at 5.32am, heads inside.
00:12:34The door was unlocked, so he let himself in.
00:12:37After that, nobody is seen leaving or arriving.
00:12:39So the only way in or out is from the front.
00:12:43And the drop at the back is too steep for access.
00:12:46So, it's got to be one of these four who shot Darren and St. Jules.
00:12:50Which means the gun that they used must still be here.
00:12:53But they're all saying they've never met him before.
00:12:55So why would one of them kill a total stranger?
00:12:59Hello, can I help you?
00:13:14Have you come to check in?
00:13:15The name's Helen Dugdale.
00:13:17Of course, one moment, please.
00:13:20Can't believe they're not letting us fly home.
00:13:23Police overreach is what it is.
00:13:25So much for doing something different.
00:13:29Should have just gone to the Red Lion like last year.
00:13:32None of this would have happened.
00:13:35Girl, do you think there's something Helen's not telling us?
00:13:40She's been on edge ever since the police arrived.
00:13:51So why did Darian go to that villa at 5.30 in the morning?
00:13:55Let's see what we find at his house.
00:14:02How are you getting on, sir?
00:14:04Well, I haven't found anything that connects our victim to the suspects.
00:14:08But I have found this.
00:14:10The victim's aftershave.
00:14:11Really?
00:14:12This again?
00:14:12It's different to the one he was wearing at the crime scene.
00:14:15Here, have a sniff.
00:14:16I haven't found any others here.
00:14:21And there certainly wasn't one on his person.
00:14:23So why did he smell different to the brand of aftershave that he owned?
00:14:26So, I searched the suspects, the villa and surrounding areas, and there was no gun.
00:14:48No, it has to be there.
00:14:50No one left the villa after the victim was shot, so the weapon has to be there somewhere.
00:14:54Yeah, no, I totally get your logic, Inspector.
00:14:57But you think it ain't there?
00:14:58For definite, there's no gun at the villa.
00:15:00But that doesn't make any sense.
00:15:01So, sorry.
00:15:02Excuse me.
00:15:03Hello?
00:15:04Yes!
00:15:05Well, this is a strange one.
00:15:07We've got four people suspected of shooting a man they don't know, with a gun they don't have.
00:15:12Let's start working through the victim's laptop, see what's on there.
00:15:14We need to find that gun.
00:15:18What?
00:15:19Actually, sir, it's the Nativity Service, if you'd forgotten.
00:15:23Are you serious?
00:15:24And we promised Catherine we'd make sure you get there.
00:15:28Look, we've got a murder case to solve, in case you hadn't noticed.
00:15:31And I haven't got time for play-acting with a bunch of kids at some school nativity.
00:15:36Then you better find the time, Inspector.
00:15:41Why is she...
00:15:43Good evening to you, Inspector.
00:15:45Officer Curtis, what's a pleasant surprise?
00:15:48My niece is performing in the Nativity tonight.
00:15:52And word has got back to me that they might not have a narrator.
00:15:56Because the man who is supposed to be doing it is being a grumpy goose about the whole thing.
00:16:01Grumpy...
00:16:02Now, listen...
00:16:03No, you listen to me.
00:16:04You are doing it.
00:16:06End of.
00:16:07So get your backside down to that church and man up.
00:16:10You know, I never did like this sort of thing.
00:16:29The Nativity, carol services.
00:16:32Right.
00:16:33Is there anything about Christmas you do like, sir?
00:16:36No, not really.
00:16:37Oh, hang on.
00:16:38Yeah.
00:16:38Um, The Great Escape.
00:16:40The what?
00:16:41The Great Escape.
00:16:43The movie.
00:16:44It was on telly every Christmas.
00:16:46You know, with the motorcycle stunt.
00:16:48And the cooler.
00:16:50The dirt down the trousers.
00:16:53I give up.
00:16:54Me too.
00:16:55Mervyn, we're waiting.
00:16:57Ready when you are.
00:16:57Right.
00:17:03Right.
00:17:04Um, here we go then.
00:17:07I guess.
00:17:08Yes.
00:17:27You okay?
00:17:32Okay, then.
00:17:37A long time ago, in the town of Nazareth, there lived a young woman named Mary.
00:17:44She was engaged to a carpenter named Joseph.
00:17:47I understand he didn't want to wear a costume, but did he really have to do it in the heart?
00:17:54And then one day, an angel called Gabriel came to Mary and said to her...
00:18:03Sorry, it was mine.
00:18:14I knew it was going to be his.
00:18:22Sir.
00:18:23Sir.
00:18:25It's someone calling from Antica.
00:18:29It could be...
00:18:30Your brother.
00:18:33Listen, sorry everyone.
00:18:35I need to take this, yeah?
00:18:36Well, I think one of us shoot her.
00:18:45Don't worry, Miss Baudet.
00:18:47Officer Sebastian rose to the rescue.
00:18:50Yes, my little king people.
00:18:52Wow, God.
00:18:54Woo!
00:18:55So, a long, long time ago, in the town of Nazareth, there lived a young woman, very nice woman.
00:19:04Her name was Mary.
00:19:05She was engaged to a carpenter named Joseph.
00:19:08Mervin Wilson speaking.
00:19:18Mr. Wilson?
00:19:20It's Tyrese at Cariba Phone Network.
00:19:22I just noticed your contract's coming up in the new year, and I thought we could have a chat about upgrading your phone.
00:19:27Mr. Wilson, are you still there?
00:19:33Yeah, I'm here.
00:19:34Um, no, no upgrade, thanks.
00:19:37Are you sure about that, Cosby?
00:19:39Because, um, it's tough.
00:19:40The first Noel
00:19:57The angels didn't say
00:20:02Was to certain born shepherds
00:20:08It builds us there
00:20:11It builds us there
00:20:16Deep, deep, deep
00:20:21Thanks.
00:20:37hey sir you didn't come back just wanted to check how you're doing yeah it wasn't
00:20:55Solomon on the phone anyway I've been thinking we really don't know anything
00:21:01about these people you know their lives in the UK I was thinking we could use someone to do a bit
00:21:08of digging into our suspects back in their hometown right you want me to get in touch with
00:21:12the Swindon police no no I've already done that they're flat out till New Year but then I remembered
00:21:17we do have someone in the UK who maybe could give us a hand
00:21:20you must be the policeman from the Caribbean Commissioner Patterson is it Selwyn Patterson
00:21:35I'm no longer a commissioner I'm retired now right okay so now you're just helping out
00:21:43somewhat reluctantly if I'm honest with you so what has actually happened out there the police
00:21:52were called to your colleagues holiday villa where I'm sorry to see a man was found shot dead murdered
00:21:58I'm keen to get on with things and get out of here as quickly as I can rightio well I'll give you the
00:22:07guided tour welcome to Dugdale's branded merchandise so that desk over there is Helen she's the managing
00:22:17director this desk belongs to our graphic designer Gavin accounts manager Neil and Karen head of sales
00:22:26and this one oh oh she's not here anymore she left a couple of months ago Ashley Ashley Sims her name
00:22:36was it was all somewhat clandestine if you ask me mr. Patterson she did what they call a midnight
00:22:46flit never came back are you sure you don't want a cup of tea I'm gonna make myself one this draw is
00:22:55locked oh yes it's been like that since Ashley left she has the only key I've been meaning to sort it
00:23:06commissioner you do know what time is over here right half past three in the morning but as I've
00:23:29abandoned good friends wedding to travel to Swindon and help you out okay fair dues how can I help the
00:23:35bullet you recovered from your victim have you had the ballistics report back on it yet yeah it was a 45
00:23:41caliber most likely fired from a pistol and did you find the weapon no why because I'm currently looking
00:23:49at a point four five caliber pistol in a death row in Swindon it can't be the same one can it
00:24:01morning sir morning inspector this can't be right it just can't be what's going on commissioner found a gun
00:24:26locked in the desk drawer of an ex-employee called Ashley Sims in the Dugdale's offices back in the UK
00:24:31what local forensic lab fast-tracked it and they say that is the gun that fired the bullet that killed
00:24:37Darren St Jules look security footage shows that no one touched that draw since the shooting wait so
00:24:44how was that gun used to shoot Darren St Jules on this island if the same gun was locked in a draw
00:24:49of five toes and miles away I know right it makes no sense we need to speak to Helen Dugdale
00:24:57if you're in there can you open the door please
00:25:12we need to speak with you about Ashley Sims
00:25:14there's something you need to see
00:25:21I guess I want to say sorry I know it's not enough and they won't change how you feel about me but I do mean
00:25:36I don't know why I keep doing this
00:25:41blow everything up
00:25:44but um this is why I've come here
00:25:51to get away
00:25:54try and understand
00:25:59why I hurt people

00:26:12ouch
00:26:14my husband Keith
00:26:16Dugdale's was his company
00:26:18until he passed away at the start of the year from a heart attack
00:26:22I'm sorry to hear that
00:26:23that's when I took over the reins
00:26:27I really wanted to make it work
00:26:29and it was around that time that we had a position to fill
00:26:32when you gave the job to Miss Sims
00:26:34I knew she had a past that she'd been to prison
00:26:37but Keith always believed in giving people a second chance
00:26:40and I wanted to honour that
00:26:41what Miss Sims let you down?
00:26:44not even a year's passed and I've already lost half a million pounds
00:26:47did you report Ashley to the police?
00:26:50I was too embarrassed
00:26:51so I hired someone to find out where she sent the email from
00:26:56and that video she recorded
00:26:58that was sent from this island?
00:27:00yes
00:27:00okay so what does any of this have to do with Darian St. George?
00:27:06the man I hired discovered that Darian had rented a holiday let to Ashley
00:27:10that's why I came here to try and get my money back
00:27:13I made sure our villa wasn't far from Darian's house
00:27:15so it would be easy to go and visit him
00:27:17so you were lying when you told her she didn't know Darian?
00:27:20did you meet with him?
00:27:22yes
00:27:22a few days ago
00:27:24he confirmed that Ashley had rented this little place he has down on the beach

00:27:31she'd arrived a few months ago at the start of October
00:27:35he still had all the paperwork
00:27:38but he said that she'd moved on a few days ago and he didn't know where
00:27:42so what was Darian doing
00:27:44turning up at your villa in the early hours yesterday?
00:27:47I don't know
00:27:48I really don't
00:27:50how much do the others know about this?
00:27:52nothing
00:27:52they don't know anything

00:27:54not even your son?
00:27:56no
00:27:56not even Neil

00:37:50Merry Christmas, sir.
00:37:54Oh, um...
00:37:56Merry Christmas.
00:37:59I'll be right with you.
00:38:01Our financial checks show that two days ago,
00:38:14you wired £100,000 from this island
00:38:16to your bank account back in England.
00:38:19No, he didn't.
00:38:25What?
00:38:27You want to tell us where you got that money from?
00:38:29What did you do, Liam?
00:38:32Yes, Neil.
00:38:32What did you do?
00:38:34I followed you.
00:38:36Why?
00:38:37You were acting so weird.
00:38:39A few days ago,
00:38:40when you went off by yourself,
00:38:42I knew that it had to be about the money
00:38:44that Ashley had taken.
00:38:45I'm sorry.
00:38:46I couldn't understand why you didn't tell me.
00:38:48And I know you were just trying to protect me, Mum.
00:38:50I was worried about you.
00:38:52I was just trying to help.
00:38:53So I waited until the guy, Darian,
00:38:58had left.
00:39:00Door was unlocked,
00:39:01so I let myself in.
00:39:02There wasn't anything I could find
00:39:04until I found an old biscuit tin.
00:39:07It was full of money.
00:39:08And what did you think?
00:39:10When you opened it
00:39:11and saw £100,000 in cash inside?
00:39:14Well, I still think
00:39:14that it was money that belonged to the company.
00:39:17Why else would this local fisherman
00:39:19have that much money in sterling
00:39:21in his house?
00:39:22And that's why you took it?
00:39:23Because it was money
00:39:23that Ashley had stolen from us.
00:39:25From Mum.
00:39:29And I don't want to see her lose everything.
00:39:33She'd already lost my dad.
00:39:35Sweet.
00:39:40All right.
00:39:41Okay.
00:39:43So,
00:39:44fast forward to the morning
00:39:45you're due to leave the island, yeah?
00:39:48And our victim turns up at 5.30.
00:39:51We've been trying to work out
00:39:52why he went there that morning.
00:39:54But what if he realised
00:39:55that you stole from him
00:39:57and came to confront you about it?
00:39:59No.
00:40:01On my life,
00:40:01I didn't even see him that morning.
00:40:04This aftershave,
00:40:05it's yours, right?
00:40:06Ravage Mystique.
00:40:07Yeah.
00:40:08Why?
00:40:09This is the exact same aftershave
00:40:10Darian was wearing.
00:40:12The morning of the murder.
00:40:14Right?
00:40:14Right?
00:40:14You're not suggesting
00:40:18that this is evidence
00:40:18I shot him.
00:40:19Why would I kill someone
00:40:20and then spray him
00:40:21with my own aftershave?
00:40:23Achoo!
00:40:27Darian definitely smelt of this
00:40:29when we found him.
00:40:30But why?
00:40:33What if
00:40:34there was another smell
00:40:36of the killer was trying to hide?
00:40:38You know?
00:40:38A bit like a bin man.
00:40:40Yeah, but...
00:40:42What?
00:40:44Neil's right.
00:40:45It's not enough.
00:40:47Some Christmas this is.
00:40:49Oh.
00:40:50Come here.
00:40:51Give your mum a hug.
00:40:54Oh, hi.
00:40:54I'm sorry.
00:40:54Oh, no.
00:41:00Not now, Marjorie.

00:41:24Dinner is served.
00:41:33This looks wonderful.
00:41:40Here's to a Merry Christmas.
00:41:44Merry Christmas.
00:41:50Right then.
00:41:52Tuck in.
00:41:54I would like to offer you
00:41:57an apology, Miss Dodds.
00:42:00Oh, Marjorie, please.
00:42:02There's really no need
00:42:03for an apology.
00:42:04Oh, there is.
00:42:06You've been nothing but
00:42:07gracious and welcoming
00:42:09for the last couple of days.
00:42:11While I...
00:42:12I've been nothing but, um...
00:42:15rowdy.
00:42:17No, no.
00:42:18I wouldn't go that far.
00:42:20Though...
00:42:21I did sense you weren't
00:42:24very happy.
00:42:26Is it to do with your old job?
00:42:28What makes you ask that?
00:42:30I don't know.
00:42:31It's just...
00:42:32When we first met,
00:42:34the way you said
00:42:35you were retired,
00:42:36it was like you weren't
00:42:37entirely comfortable with it.
00:42:39My superiors back on St. Marie,
00:42:43they tried to get rid of me
00:42:45after 50 years
00:42:47of doing a job I loved.
00:42:51In the end,
00:42:53I...
00:42:53I just walked away.
00:42:56Oh, I know what it's like.
00:42:58I'm just silly old Marjorie
00:43:00on reception.
00:43:02Don't even get invited
00:43:03to the Christmas party
00:43:04they're having out there.
00:43:06I'm sorry.
00:43:07And I've always wanted
00:43:10to go to the Caribbean.
00:43:17Look at us.
00:43:19Moving like this
00:43:20on Christmas Day.
00:43:22When you cook this feast for us,
00:43:25we should be enjoying ourselves.
00:43:28Here.
00:43:29Will you do me the pleasure?
00:43:31Oh, well,
00:43:32if you insist.
00:43:34Oh, ah!
00:43:35I won!
00:43:37I won!
00:43:38Oh, where's it gone?
00:43:40Where's it gone?
00:43:41No!
00:43:44Here it is.
00:43:46It's a tiny little sewing kit.
00:43:53All right,
00:43:54let me check with the inspector.
00:43:56Okay, speak to you soon.
00:43:58All right.

00:44:07with the search for Ashley Sims?
00:44:09So, um,
00:44:10B&Bs,
00:44:11hotels,
00:44:12guest horses,
00:44:13nobody's heard from her.
00:44:14And no one's called in
00:44:15with her sighting either.
00:44:16It's like she's vanished
00:44:17into thin air.
00:44:17Oh, and Catherine just called.
00:44:20She said she can still squeeze us in
00:44:21for her Christmas Day lunch,
00:44:22but it's her last sitting,
00:44:23so we have to go now.
00:44:25And we're still asking ourselves,
00:44:27how was Darian shot with a bullet,
00:44:28fired from a gun,
00:44:30locked in a drawer in Swindon
00:44:32at the time that it happened.
00:44:34And what has Blitzen got to do
00:44:36with all of this?
00:44:38Are you coming, sir?
00:44:41Well, yeah,
00:44:41you guys go.
00:44:42I'll just keep working.
00:44:44Are you sure, sir?

00:44:56posters,
00:44:57adverts for TV and radio,
00:44:59and, uh...
00:44:59There's over a thousand dollars
00:45:00that we owe.
00:45:00We can't afford this.
00:45:01Well, uh...
00:45:02Well, how big do you think
00:45:03our budget was?
00:45:04It's only because you said
00:45:05whatever it takes.
00:45:07Yeah, but not this much.
00:45:08I mean,
00:45:09what were you thinking?
00:45:10All right,
00:45:10let's...
00:45:11let's calm it.
00:45:16Seb,
00:45:16why don't you head over
00:45:17to Catherine's
00:45:17and I'll catch up with you.
00:45:24With respect,
00:45:26he's just doing
00:45:27his best to help,
00:45:29and he's given up
00:45:30his Christmas
00:45:31to do it, sir.
00:45:35Look,
00:45:35I know the case is frustrating
00:45:36and you've got other things
00:45:38on your mind.
00:45:39What other things?
00:45:40Well,
00:45:41your brother not calling.
00:45:43What?
00:45:43That's not bothering me.
00:45:46It isn't.
00:45:47It isn't.
00:45:48No, it isn't.
00:45:48Yes, it is.
00:45:50Of course it is.
00:45:52And I really wish
00:45:53you'd just admit that
00:45:54rather than pretending
00:45:55like you don't care
00:45:56when you so clearly
00:45:57care.
00:46:09Just don't take it out
00:46:11on the rest of us.
00:46:11Let's do this.
00:46:41Joyeux Noël, Camille.
00:46:47And to little Chloe.
00:46:48Her grandmother is missing her today.
00:46:51Has she opened a present yet?
00:46:52No, not yet.
00:46:54Ah, one moment, Camille.
00:46:56Yes, okay.
00:46:57Yes, see you.
00:47:04No, Mervyn?
00:47:11No, Mervyn.
00:47:41No, Mervyn.
00:48:11You're feeling bad, sir, about messing up your Christmas.
00:48:14I'm sorry you couldn't get to spend it with your daughter.
00:48:16It's not your fault.
00:48:17If anyone's to blame, it's the British transport system,
00:48:21which I am told is not uncommon.
00:48:23I mean, I'd like to say you'd get used to it by being lying.
00:48:28Just a minute.
00:48:28Is that the sea?
00:48:44I'm at the sea.
00:48:45I'm at the sea.
00:48:45Yeah.
00:48:46I'm at the shack.
00:48:48It's beautiful out here.
00:48:50It's a really clear night.
00:48:52But then all nights are like that here, aren't they?
00:48:54The moon here is a little more grey than I remember it in St. Marie.
00:48:59I'm just wondering if I made a mistake staying on in St. Marie.
00:49:12Why?
00:49:13Because I know I'm not good when I put myself on the line.
00:49:18I feel like I'm just hanging around, waiting.
00:49:21Your brother?
00:49:22Yeah.
00:49:24Yeah.
00:49:28I don't think he wants to get in touch.
00:49:34I'm sorry, it's not really your problem anymore, is it?
00:49:37Whether I stay or go.
00:49:38It still feels like it is.
00:49:45Inspector.
00:49:46If you are not sure what to do,
00:49:48the only advice I can offer is that
00:49:51you put your trust in that island.
00:49:54I did for most of my life.
00:49:59And in return,
00:50:01it delivered me true happiness.
00:50:07If St. Marie won't bring your brother to you,
00:50:11then perhaps
00:50:13it will bring you
00:50:15someone
00:50:18or something else.
00:50:21Be patient.
00:50:24Yeah, well,
00:50:26you know patience isn't my forte, right?
00:50:28I know.
00:50:31But what am I supposed to do in the meantime?
00:50:32Might I suggest
00:50:34you focus on solving that case,
00:50:37you have.
00:50:40You're missed here,
00:50:42you know?
00:50:42Good night,
00:51:00good night,
00:51:00inspector.
00:51:02Blitzen, why Blitzen?
00:51:26Officer Rose.
00:51:28Inspector.
00:51:29What's up?
00:51:30I wanted to come and say I'm sorry for spending all that money you don't have in your budget.
00:51:36So, uh, I wanted to pay it back.
00:51:42There's $322.86 in there, which I took from my savings.
00:51:48I mean, it's all my savings, but that's cool.
00:51:51And if you deduct $20 from my wages each month, you should be paid back in about two years, I reckon.
00:51:58Officer Rose.
00:52:04You've got a good heart.
00:52:06Anyone ever tell you that?
00:52:07Well, my auntie.
00:52:09Like, all the time.
00:52:10You know?
00:52:11Take this.
00:52:15What I thought I...
00:52:16You don't have to pay anything back.
00:52:18We'll find it in the budget.
00:52:20And there's no need to apologise, all right?
00:52:24In fact, I should apologise for blazing at you like that.
00:52:27What you did was, um, was really good work.
00:52:30Anyway, come on.
00:52:34I've got a new lead.
00:52:35Let's go and wake D.S. Thomas up.
00:52:43He can't keep doing this.
00:52:47Happy Boxing Day, D.S. Thomas.
00:52:48Listen, um, I want to apologise for losing it and ruining Christmas.
00:52:59I'll make it up to you.
00:53:00I promise.
00:53:03And you were right about me taking it out on you because of Solomon.
00:53:10I just really wanted it, you know?
00:53:13I'm sorry, too.
00:53:19Good morning, Sarge.
00:53:21Do you expect to tell you the good news yet?
00:53:24He's only going to make a big break through in the case,
00:53:27which is a big relief,
00:53:28cos I was drawing a blank.
00:53:30You have tea?
00:53:33So I've been going through Darian St. Jules' phone records,
00:53:36and he phoned someone the day before he was murdered.
00:53:39A friend of his called Trishawn King.
00:53:41Now, he was over on Montserrat for Christmas.
00:53:45So I asked Darlene to speak with him.
00:53:47Darlene?
00:53:48Last night?
00:53:49Yeah.
00:53:49And how was she with that?
00:53:51Uh, you know, she was...
00:53:53She was cool with it.
00:53:55Inspector, it's Christmas Day.
00:53:58What in God's name do you think you're doing?
00:54:00Anyway, it turned out Darian feared for his life,
00:54:08and he was asking Trishawn where he can get hold of a gun for protection.
00:54:12He thought someone was going to kill him.
00:54:15Did he say who?
00:54:16Mm-mm.
00:54:17But he did say he was caught up in something he shouldn't have,
00:54:20and get this,
00:54:21he thought the woman he was trying to help had been murdered.
00:54:23Now I'm caught up in it all.
00:54:25And now he was worried that he was going to suffer the same fate.
00:54:28Whoa, wait.
00:54:30Darian told Trishawn he thought Ashley Sims was murdered?
00:54:33But it would explain why no one's seen her the last few days.
00:54:36So then, if this is true,
00:54:38that means that whoever killed Ashley Sims
00:54:41probably also murdered Darian St. Jules.
00:54:43to silence him.
00:54:45So what we need to start looking for now
00:54:47is anyone who had a reason to kill Ashley Sims.
00:54:50Well, both Helen and Neil Dogdale to start with.
00:54:53Ashley stole half a million pounds from their company.
00:54:56And there's someone else as well.
00:55:05We've been looking at your phone records,
00:55:07and these, Miss Hickson,
00:55:09are text messages from you to Ashley Sims
00:55:11just before she came out here.
00:55:13You'll regret ever meeting me.
00:55:15Stay away from my boyfriend,
00:55:17or else I'm not afraid to hurt you.
00:55:21The list goes on.
00:55:23Care to explain?
00:55:26They had a thing, right?
00:55:28Gavin and Ashley had a thing behind my back.
00:55:31Sort of.
00:55:33Sort of?
00:55:34Yeah, like, it wasn't, like, a real thing.
00:55:37Like, they never really got together, but...
00:55:39But he liked her.
00:55:42Yeah.
00:55:44God knows why.
00:55:45She was weird.
00:55:47But I think Gav liked that about her.
00:55:49And he called things off between us.
00:55:50And that's when I started warning her off.
00:55:56Guess I just got a bit carried away.
00:55:59I just...
00:56:00I just didn't want to lose him.
00:56:03And you didn't.
00:56:04Now that Ashley's conveniently disappeared,
00:56:07you've got Gavin to yourself now, haven't you?
00:56:09What?
00:56:11Is that what you think?
00:56:12That I killed her?
00:56:12No, I wouldn't.
00:56:18I didn't.
00:56:20It'll be about Gavin.
00:56:22We need to tell him what we know.
00:56:24But Ashley called things off with Gav.
00:56:27Why would I kill her?
00:56:28Inspector?
00:56:30You need to hear the truth.
00:56:32What?
00:56:33And I'm afraid you're not going to get that from her.
00:56:35No disrespect, Karen.
00:56:36Neil, come on, man.
00:56:38What are you saying?
00:56:40Whatever she's told you,
00:56:41it's ten times worse.
00:56:42Neil, what are you saying?
00:56:43Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
00:56:44You've had your chance.
00:56:45Go on.
00:56:47He had a thing for Ashley.
00:56:49Is that it?
00:56:50We already know.
00:56:51No, it was more than that.
00:56:52Gavin was obsessed.
00:56:55When Ashley said they couldn't see each other anymore,
00:56:56he had to take time off work.
00:56:58And I've seen the posters you've been putting up.
00:56:59If Ashley's gone missing,
00:57:00then I'm telling you,
00:57:02it'll have something to do with Gavin.
00:57:05Inspector!
00:57:05Someone's just broken into the villa where Darion was shot.
00:57:13Someone's just broken into the villa where Darion was shot.
00:57:13Oh, my God.
00:57:36Oh, my God.
00:57:37Mr. Bradbury, this doesn't look good at all.
00:58:01But then I don't think you need me to tell you that.
00:58:07You want to start by telling us what we're going to find in that pool you've just emptied?
00:58:10And we know it's not the gun used to kill Darien St. Jules because that's currently sitting in a police station somewhere in Swindon.
00:58:17So what's down there? Why have you come back to the crime scene, Gavin? What's so important?
00:58:21Inspector! Found something.
00:58:25What is it?
00:58:26A bullet. One that's been fired.
00:58:33Why is there a bullet in the pool, Gav?
00:58:37It's, like, a keepsake.
00:58:41Something to remember Ashley by.
00:58:47A bullet?
00:58:48There are other things that I've got of hers as well, like...
00:58:52More like, like, normal things.
00:58:55I'm really not interested in those, funny enough.
00:58:58Ashley, she's...
00:58:59She's not like anyone I've ever met before.
00:59:02Like, it was exciting, being around her, and her life was so different to mine.
00:59:08Yeah, I hear that. The bullet.
00:59:10Yeah.
00:59:12She has a gun.
00:59:13She was looking after it as a favour for someone that she knew from prison, and she...
00:59:18Well...
00:59:19We went out to the woods one day, and she let me fire it.
00:59:24It was amazing, right?
00:59:26It was a...
00:59:26You know, like, exhilarating.
00:59:29And I went and got one of the bullets.
00:59:31You know, like I said, that I would keep it with me to remind me of her.
00:59:34And they say romance is dead.
00:59:35So, why did it end up in the pool?
00:59:40I panicked.
00:59:42When there was that dead guy, and Neil called the police.
00:59:46I was worried that if you found it, you'd think it was me that shot him.
00:59:49So I took it out, and I was wondering what to do, and...
00:59:53I dropped it.
00:59:56It fell in the pool.
00:59:58And the more you were sniffing around, the more I started to worry that you'd find it.
01:00:01So I came back, and I...
01:00:02So you loved Ashley, then?
01:00:09Yeah, I guess, yeah.
01:00:12Must have really hurt when she ended things.
01:00:17Gavin, we believe Ashley Sims was murdered on Miss Island in the last few days.
01:00:22What? No. What? If she can't be?
01:00:24I'm kind of wondering if maybe you did it.
01:00:26Me?
01:00:29Why would I kill Ashley?
01:00:31Because you couldn't have her.
01:00:31And it hurt like hell.
01:00:33No, no, no, no. You've got this wrong.
01:00:35I didn't kill her.
01:00:36I owe that man.
01:00:39You seem a bit edgy, Gavin.
01:00:41Is there something you aren't telling us?
01:00:44There's nothing.
01:00:46Really, there is nothing.
01:00:54Paradise Court Hotel, please.
01:00:56Please.
01:00:56Please.
01:00:56Please.
01:00:56Please.
01:00:56Please.
01:00:56Please.
01:00:56Please.
01:00:56Please.
01:00:56Please.
01:00:56Please.
01:00:56Please.
01:00:56Please.
01:00:57Please.
01:00:57Please.
01:00:58Please.
01:00:58Please.
01:00:58Please.
01:00:59Please.
01:00:59Please.
01:01:00Please.
01:01:00Please.
01:01:02What is it that he's not saying?
01:01:05No.
01:01:10Hey, this is Ashley's phone.
01:01:12You know what to do.
01:01:13Ashley, it's me.
01:01:15We need to talk.
01:01:15I'm worried about you.
01:01:17The police have been asking questions, and I think they know about us, so...
01:01:22Just let me know what you want me to do, yeah?
01:01:24Please call me back.
01:01:25I love you.
01:01:39You all right, sir? You seem a bit tense.
01:01:43I just can't work this one out.
01:01:45I mean, we've got one potential murder victim whose body we haven't found,
01:01:49another murder victim whose body we have found,
01:01:52but that murder weapon was locked in a desk drawer on the other side of the world
01:01:55when that murder took place.
01:01:57I mean, where do we even start?
01:01:59Well, sounds like you need to go get a little shoulder rub, you know?
01:02:02Release some of that tension.
01:02:04No, you all right, Officer Rose?
01:02:09Ah, this guy again.
01:02:11Listen, mate, I told you before,
01:02:13I'm not interested in upgrading to another phone, so stop calling me, eh?
01:02:18Is that Mervyn Wilson?
01:02:20It's still Mervyn Wilson and I'm still not interested.
01:02:23It's me, Solomon, your brother.
01:02:32Are you there, Mervyn?
01:02:36Mervyn?
01:02:38Yes!
01:02:39Yes, he's here. Don't hang up.
01:02:50Uh, Solomon.
01:02:54It's Mervyn.
01:02:56Yeah, you should always know that.
01:02:59Um, look, mate, I'm sorry.
01:03:02I just wasn't expecting your call.
01:03:04Yeah, I know.
01:03:05I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get in touch, but...
01:03:08it was... you know.
01:03:11No, no, no, no, mate, I totally understand, yeah?
01:03:14I mean, it's a process, right?
01:03:17But, um, hey, you're calling now, aren't you?
01:03:20Yeah, man, it's a process.
01:03:22But I'm glad to be calling now.
01:03:28Are you still there?
01:03:30Mervyn?
01:03:31Mervyn?
01:03:32Yeah, yeah, I'm still here.
01:03:34Um...
01:03:37Look, um, Solomon, I'm...
01:03:40I'm really, really sorry to do this to you.
01:03:42And I am so glad you called and that we're finally speaking.
01:03:46And I really, really want us to talk again, but...
01:03:51Right now, there's something I need to do, yeah?
01:03:55Yeah, man, no problem, but I'll tune.
01:03:59That was quick.
01:04:00Officer Rose, that billboard, you did that, right?
01:04:04Yes, sir, I did.
01:04:06What?
01:04:07You should already have the invites for that.
01:04:08It's not gonna cost any extra.
01:04:09No, no, no, I don't care about the cost.
01:04:10It was worth every penny.
01:04:11C-c-come, come look.
01:04:19You see, all along, we've been looking at Ashley's footage
01:04:22on phone screens and laptops, yeah?
01:04:24What?
01:04:25They were too small.
01:04:27I don't understand.
01:04:29You see where Ashley is?
01:04:31This is a still from the video she made.
01:04:33And in the background, there's a ship passing by.
01:04:36Now, before that was just a speck,
01:04:38but now you've blown it up.
01:04:40Look at it.
01:04:42What about the ship?
01:04:43Look at what it's called.
01:04:47Blitzen.
01:04:48Blitzen.
01:04:49Blitzen!
01:04:50Yeah?
01:04:51Now we know.
01:04:53Oh, Officer Rose, if you were so tall, I'd kiss you.
01:04:56Why would Darian write the name of that ship on his hands?
01:05:00Well, he obviously saw the footage himself and then, um, he saw something in it.
01:05:06But what?
01:05:08Blitzen.
01:05:13Blitzen.
01:05:14It's like she's vanished into thin air.
01:05:15That's why I've come here.
01:05:16I thought I was helping someone.
01:05:18someone you know what i think i'm starting to work out what went down here but i need to make

01:06:35sidewalk thank you but if ashley sims has never been here before why do immigration records show
01:06:45that she has because someone else came pretending to be ashley presumably on a fake passport and that
01:06:51someone paid darian 100k to lie and say ashley rented his property for the past few months but
01:06:56why would they do that to misdirect and confuse anyone looking for her because they'd already killed
01:07:02ashley and taken the money so one of our four suspects has been a three months previously which
01:07:07is why we're going through this footage because it will show who was pretending to be ashley sims
01:07:14there why didn't i see that before why i've come here to try and understand why i hurt people no it
01:07:21was more than that gavin was obsessed of course after that nobody is seen leaving or arriving so it's got
01:07:28to be one of these four who shot down in st jules you were in the hammock when whatever happened
01:07:35happened you didn't hear the gunshot it's like how it said you know the room out here it's uh stronger
01:07:39than you used to what if there was another smell the killer was trying to hide it makes perfect sense
01:07:45now for definite there's no gun at the villa the commissioner found the gun locked in the desk drawer
01:07:50at dugdale's offices back in the uk we need to call the commissioner the commissioner why because he's with
01:07:57the killer as we speak come on sir pick up
01:08:12and what about these ones same drawer
01:08:26i've always wanted to go to the caribbean
01:08:42that necklace the stone is lithma unique to saint marie you told me you always wanted to go to the
01:09:04caribbean like you've never been
01:09:10you were lying no no selwyn it was you that went to saint marie three months ago
01:09:18if ashley never went then is she dead oh i'm sorry i i didn't mean to it it just happened
01:09:29miss dongs
01:09:34i think you should put the knife down no
01:09:43please
01:09:44that video she made it wasn't in the caribbean was it
01:09:58ornmouth
01:10:01on a sunday she'd she come to the seaside
01:10:04she realized she'd made a mistake stealing that money didn't she then she wanted to give the money
01:10:12back and send the video as an apology i want to say sorry i don't know why i keep doing this
01:10:19miss sims didn't leave the country
01:10:22i'd gone in to the office that day to deal with an order that had gone wrong it wasn't my fault but
01:10:31i was the one who had to go in and fix it and then when i let myself in i found ashley there and i
01:10:39knew i knew straight away what the money was you you overhear a lot when you sit at reception all day
01:10:46i knew it was you and and i went to call the police wait i'm giving the money back marjorie
01:10:53don't please i'm calling the police now don't do this to me you're not and ashley tried to stop me
01:11:02i won't let you marjorie get off me pushed her off me and
01:11:16i wasn't even supposed to be in that day
01:11:25but it's like i told you nobody nobody cares for me there they just take me for granted and you saw
01:11:33the money and thought finally you could take something back for yourself
01:11:41all you had to do was dispose of the body
01:11:50where
01:11:56in my back garden
01:11:57and then you made a fake passport in ashley's name oh that wasn't hard you know with all the
01:12:08kit we've got in the office you flew on that passport to saint marie to make it look as if miss sims had run
01:12:16away to the other side of the world and rented our property there for the last few months
01:12:24you know i i really did want to go to the caribbean
01:12:29it's just that i never had the chance
01:12:32or the money until
01:12:34and if you were going to misdirect from what really happened here in swindon where the dead body was
01:12:43then the farther away the better and no one would realize
01:12:48until things started to go wrong and you received a phone call
01:13:07you're saying marjorie killed ashley sims our receptionist that marjorie that marjorie
01:13:13yes marjorie dodds the receptionist killed ashley sims in england and made it look as if she ran
01:13:19away to the caribbean with your 500k oh i did not see that coming so which one of us shot the man
01:13:26found in our swimming pool it wasn't any of you but it had to be you said so no one else was here
01:13:33yeah you're right i did say that but what i didn't know then was that darian saint jules
01:13:39wasn't shot at your villa it just looked like he was that's why no gunshot was heard because
01:13:45there wasn't one he'd already been shot
01:13:52we know now from our colleague in the uk that marjorie had paid darian money she came to the
01:13:58island three months ago on a forged passport and she gave him 100 000 pounds to lie and cover if
01:14:05anyone ever came to the island asking after ashley she'd convinced him he was doing a favor for a
01:14:12very vulnerable friend of hers but when you visited him a few days ago mrs dogdale asking
01:14:18questions mentioning the missing 500 grand darian started to wonder what he'd gotten himself
01:14:23involved in and when he re-watched that footage more closely the footage of ashley you'd shown him
01:14:29as an experienced fisherman who knew the waters of saint marie very well
01:14:32something about it bothered him zooming in he was able to read the name of the boat blitzing
01:14:39he knew this was not a saint marie vessel
01:14:43he worked out that the video of ashley was actually shot in the uk and having heard from you mrs dogdale
01:14:51that ashley went missing with 500 grand of your money darian started to realize that ashley had never
01:14:57been to the island he'd only ever met marjorie so he phoned miss dodds asking what was going on
01:15:09we need to talk listen darian you've got this all wrong all throughout this case
01:15:17we thought darian's killer had to be one of you four the one person we never suspected
01:15:23was marjorie dodds it was all the way back in swindon or so we thought with darian threatening to
01:15:29go to the police marjorie asked him to hang fire and she would fly out here and speak to him in person
01:15:36marjorie was here on this island at the exact same time we were yeah she arrived the night before darian
01:15:41was shot and flew back to the uk the next morning unable to convince darian to keep quiet and carry on with
01:15:48the lie marjorie started to grow desperate worried he'd tell the police i can give you more money
01:15:54how much just tell me and i'll give it to you we know darian was searching around for a gun for
01:16:01self-protection i just want you to leave now he never expected marjorie would use it against him
01:16:21after shooting darian marjorie left and headed for the airport before getting back on the plane
01:16:27arriving at dugdale's offices just in time to meet with our very own commissioner patterson
01:16:32if marjorie shot darian at his house how did he end up at our villa marjorie thought she killed him
01:16:39but what she didn't know when she left darian's place was that he was still alive
01:16:47it was the fact that he smelled so strongly of someone else's aftershave they helped us work it out
01:16:52meals aftershave in fact we thought it was there to cover up another smell that we now know was
01:16:59antiseptic the stuff used to clean up a wound because as soon as marjorie quit the scene
01:17:05darian regained consciousness and patched himself up as far as he was concerned the bullet was just
01:17:11lodged in his shoulder wasn't life-threatening so he put on a fresh t-shirt and headed off for
01:17:17the hospital to get it properly seen to but on the way it passed your villa which was just half a mile
01:17:23down the road and i think darian intended to alert you to what had gone down he stopped here to tell
01:17:29you the truth about ashley and to warn you about what marjorie had done that's why he came here that
01:17:35morning to tell you what your colleague had done to ashley and in turn to him to make sure it didn't
01:17:42happen to anyone else but what darian didn't know was that his wound was worse than he thought and he
01:17:49was bleeding internally and so despite his brave effort to alert you all to the truth he died here
01:17:57in your villa but then someone proceeded to stage the scene as if he was shot in this villa didn't you
01:18:08mr bradbury me what we don't know of course not no and you did it because ashley told you to
01:18:18you're crazy ashley i don't know what you're talking about let me have your phone
01:18:28gavin please
01:18:32it's okay unlock it
01:18:38bingo text messages seemingly from ashley sims from the moment she disappeared right up to today
01:18:56but all of these were sent by marjorie dodds
01:18:58who kept ashley's phone after she killed her what no you you know you're wrong you she can't be
01:19:06texting her no this whole time karen i'm sorry look look no no karen
01:19:13and here proof of what happened messages exchanged on the morning of darian's death
01:19:18because despite what you told us gavin you were actually the first to discover darian's body
01:19:22you knew who darian was because ashley had told you all about him and so you contacted ashley left
01:19:32a message telling her that darian had turned up to the villa and died and asking her what was going
01:19:38on a few minutes later she or rather marjorie texted back see marjorie realized that if the police were
01:19:47called and found darian with his wound patched up they'd know he was shot somewhere else and the
01:19:53trail would lead right back to her so she had to do two things first she texted you with instructions
01:20:01second she had to clear up the real scene of the crime marjorie's confessed to her colleague in the
01:20:06uk that she quickly doubled back from the airport and returned to darian's house before disposing of the
01:20:10gun and the t-shirt he was wearing when she shot him meanwhile you moved the body outside to the
01:20:15swimming pool there's also mention here of that bullet you kept as a memento in the text messages
01:20:20you sent to ashley well that's our margin we knew so as ashley she asked you to remove the bullet she
01:20:27killed darian with and replace it with the one she knew you had however in your haste you must have
01:20:36dropped the bullet you extracted into the swimming pool but you knew you could come back and retrieve it
01:20:42later once you switched the bullets the heartbeat was over you disposed of the dressing
01:20:51then made a hole in his t-shirt and let the blood around the wound soak in so now it looked like darian
01:20:59had been shot after he entered the villa not before the last problem you had was getting rid of that
01:21:05antiseptic smell because that stuff lingers right and if the police noticed it we'd certainly be asking
01:21:11who cleaned up the wound and why so you ran into the bathroom and got hold of some aftershave kneels
01:21:17and doused him in it so now all you had to do was pretend to be asleep when mrs dogdale discovered
01:21:23the body gavin we need to get to the airport you gotta pack leaving us without a scooby as to how a man
01:21:31was shot with a gun that was locked in a desk drawer five thousand miles away in a swindon warehouse
01:21:36in the end it wasn't just the police that marjorie dodds the jeeped it was you as well gavin you see you
01:21:42thought you were helping the woman you loved a woman you'd do anything for when you're actually helping
01:21:49her killer officer rose
01:22:07mr bradbury i'm arresting on the suspicion of perverting the course of justice you don't need to say anything
01:22:12but it may harm your defense if you do not mention one question something you later rely on in court
01:22:17anything you do say may be used as evidence i need to know why did you come to the train station
01:22:23that night and invite me into your home i take that risk because i didn't want to spend christmas on my
01:22:33own again i'm so sorry i spoiled it all
01:22:41happy
01:22:55inspector commissioner the arrest has been made i'm pleased to see
01:23:00Same here. We couldn't have done it without you, sir.
01:23:04Oh, and are you doing all right?
01:23:06Me?
01:23:07Yes, of course. I'm fine.
01:23:10Merry Christmas, sir.
01:23:17I'm doing fine.
01:23:22We regret to announce that the 10-15 to Leeds will be delayed
01:23:27due to a shortage of train staff.
01:23:37Chief Commissioner, it's Selwyn Patterson.
01:23:42And to you, and apologies for calling you during the holidays,
01:23:47but I wanted to know if you'd found my replacement as yet.
01:23:57I see. I've been doing some thinking.
01:24:01And I wondered if there was any chance of my returning to the road,
01:24:10if it's still vacant.
01:24:12I know it's been a long time since I've been searching,
01:24:17since I've been searching to find you...
01:24:22The thing is, Harry, the classic Christmas Day Sunday roast lunch
01:24:27is all well and good.
01:24:29But when push comes to shove,
01:24:32the real culinary high point
01:24:35is the turkey and stuffing sarni.
01:24:38Because my friend, in my humble opinion,
01:24:40it is one of the greatest delicacies known to mankind.
01:24:47Like bacon and eggs.
01:24:49RDS Thomas, you're just in time. Come in, come in.
01:24:55Grab those for me, would you?
01:25:00So, uh...
01:25:02What is this about, sir?
01:25:04I promised I'd make up for spoiling Christmas Day.
01:25:07And that is exactly what I'm doing.
01:25:09Come on.
01:25:10I don't know why I didn't think of this before.
01:25:16What?
01:25:17My front room on the beach.
01:25:19Is that a good idea, do you think?
01:25:21Yeah, why not?
01:25:22So we're watching something.
01:25:24We certainly are, DS Thomas.
01:25:25And not the...
01:25:26The great escape, yeah.
01:25:31Beers and butties, everyone.
01:25:33And thank you to our local mayor
01:25:35for letting me have the leftovers from the bar.
01:25:38And you've put it all between two slices of bread?
01:25:42Yeah.
01:25:43How English.
01:25:46Excited for this film, Inspector. Sounds dope.
01:25:49Um...
01:25:51Sir...
01:25:54Is this really your favourite thing about Christmas?
01:25:58Well, yeah.
01:25:59When I was a little boy growing up,
01:26:02most times I didn't know where I was going to end up spending Christmas, right?
01:26:06With a foster family or in a care home.
01:26:11But wherever I ended up,
01:26:14the one constant every Christmas was this film.
01:26:18And it was a...
01:26:19It was a comfort to me.
01:26:21I bet that little boy never thought he'd be here in the Caribbean.
01:26:26All these years later,
01:26:29watching that same film,
01:26:32surrounded by his friends.
01:26:39He certainly didn't care for him.
01:26:43So, um...
01:26:45To him.
01:26:47To him.
01:26:48To him.
01:26:49To him.
01:26:51Okay, then.
01:26:53Showtime!
01:26:54Yeah.
01:26:55um look uh just just give me a few minutes yeah yeah
