00:00:0025, 11, and 10.
00:00:02The problem? The Hawks' record is 2-9.
00:00:06So when you're on a losing team, there's a lot of criticism and not a lot of praise.
00:00:10But a lot of praise for this young town who continues to emerge.
00:00:13Looking for perhaps back-to-back Most Improved Player of the Year awards.
00:00:17Daniels did it last year.
00:00:18And Johnson, in the month of December, averaging a 25-point triple-double,
00:00:22which is Nikola Jokic territory.
00:00:24What a month it's been for Jalen Johnson.
00:00:26Well, Jordan Clarkson, he played five years under head coach Quinn Snyder in Utah,
00:00:31who, of course, headmans the Hawks now.
00:00:33And Clarkson currently enjoying his best stretch with the Knicks.
00:00:36Coming off a season-high 25-point game in the comeback win over the Cavs.
00:00:40Tonight in Atlanta, it's a matchup of one of the best offenses in the NBA
00:00:44against a Hawk defense that's given up at least 120 points in each of their last five games.
00:00:50First matchup of two in the next week between New York and Atlanta.
00:00:54But Knicks basketball coming up next on MSG.
00:00:59The Hawks coming up.
00:01:00This holiday season is brought to you by Sprite.
00:01:04Great to have you with us back in New York here in our Delta MSG studios.
00:01:08Happy holidays, everyone.
00:01:09Bill Pito along with Wally Zerbiak.
00:01:11So, Jalen Brunson's averaging over 30 points per game over his last seven.
00:01:15And Kia Card presents his numbers against the Cavs on Christmas Day.
00:01:18Look at that, Wally.
00:01:196-12 from downtown, 34 points.
00:01:21Yeah, he was huge.
00:01:23The two four-point plays I mentioned earlier on in the pregame show.
00:01:26The shots that he makes under duress with guys literally in his cylinder right here
00:01:31is just incredible how he can keep his focus on that rim.
00:01:35What a performance, especially in that fourth quarter.
00:01:37Mr. Clutch.
00:01:38He requires no space to get off his shot.
00:01:40That's what's amazing.
00:01:42Opening tip is next from Atlanta.
00:01:43Enjoy, everybody.
00:01:44Brought to you by Sprite.
00:01:46Knicks getting out of the cold with a three-game road trip.
00:01:48Atlanta, New Orleans, San Antonio.
00:01:51Here is the starting five.
00:01:53Knicks are 11-3 since Josh Hart entered the starting lineup,
00:01:57but he's out tonight for just the third time this season.
00:01:59So, Mohamed Dioara will make his second start of the year.
00:02:03Previously, he started in place of Josh Hart.
00:02:05When the Knicks came back and beat Indiana coming out of the NBA Cup.
00:02:09And for the Hawks, you've got Trey Young, Dyson Daniels,
00:02:11Zachary Resache, Jalen Johnson, and Yuka Okongwu.
00:02:15Time for Alan Hahn's keys to the game.
00:02:17It's Find Your Pace, brought to you by Experience Abu Dhabi.
00:02:20Well, stop thief.
00:02:21Of course, we're talking about Dyson Daniels.
00:02:22Don't make careless passes around him.
00:02:25He will jump routes and rack up steals.
00:02:28And don't fall for Young's old tricks.
00:02:30You know that you don't want to see him get into rhythm at all
00:02:33at the free-throw line.
00:02:34And he is a momentum shooter when it comes to threes.
00:02:37And play big.
00:02:38You have bigger centers.
00:02:40You have a bigger front line.
00:02:41You should dominate the boards for sure
00:02:44and dominate the paint in this game.
00:02:46It's something Quinn Snyder talked about.
00:02:48A big concern for him.
00:02:50There is Trey Young, just his 10th game of the season.
00:02:53He scored 30 points in two of his last three games.
00:02:56But it has not produced winning basketball for the Hawks.
00:03:00This is the fifth and final game of a season-long homestand for Atlanta.
00:03:03If they don't win tonight,
00:03:04they're going to go 0-5 on this long home stretch.
00:03:07And they've got a trip to Oklahoma City coming up.
00:03:10And that's it.
00:03:13And then they go to New York about a week from today.
00:03:16Not an easy stretch for the Hawks
00:03:18as they will face a red-hot Knick team
00:03:20looking for win number 14 in their last 17 games.
00:03:25Carl Anthony Towns dropped 44 on Atlanta last February.
00:03:29Bridges out the foul line, feeds a wide-open DLR.
00:03:32He'll take the three.
00:03:33Left at short, offensive rebound Towns.
00:03:36Surrounded by Hawks and is blocked by Johnson.
00:03:38Not known for his defense, Jalen Johnson.
00:03:44A tone-setting play.
00:03:47Now Young working on the Young.
00:03:49Diawara.
00:03:50He's swatted right down into the hard court by the Knick rookie.
00:03:54Diawara on Trey Young to start.
00:03:57Love it.
00:03:57Runs and fade away over Daniels.
00:04:00Got it.
00:04:02Now let's see if this is a thing
00:04:03or if it was just a switch situation
00:04:05because now McHale Bridges is on Young.
00:04:07But it was good defense from the youngster on the previous possession.
00:04:10The Knicks really liked Diawara's length.
00:04:12He missed that first three-pointer,
00:04:13but he's actually made one in each of his last three games.
00:04:17Young in jail, surrounded by Towns and Bridges,
00:04:20but he threw it off of Bridges' leg.
00:04:21And let's look at some defense from the lone rookie on the Knicks roster.
00:04:24He's still very raw,
00:04:25but Mike Brown feels like he's got great potential
00:04:28and, of course, he's got great length.
00:04:30Good defensive instincts.
00:04:31You see him playing defense without fouling.
00:04:34Just 20 years old out of France.
00:04:36Akongu got loose off the inbound and rattles into three.
00:04:39They want him shooting it more from distance.
00:04:41He saw his reaction.
00:04:42He had missed his last seven three-pointers,
00:04:44but gets that one to go.
00:04:46Yeah, he takes five a game.
00:04:48I mean, you look at his percentage, you ask why.
00:04:5134% as Ananobi catches in the corner.
00:04:54Working on Reese Asche.
00:04:55Towns steps beyond the line.
00:04:57Faceline drive on Akongu.
00:04:59He's dominated his matchup in past seasons
00:05:01and will get two free throws.
00:05:03About 90 seconds into the game.
00:05:05You've got to believe that Towns has a green light
00:05:07in one-on-ones.
00:05:09They don't have anyone with real size.
00:05:11Yes, Akongu is 6'8 playing center.
00:05:14And he gives you all these guys.
00:05:16Hustle player, hard-working player,
00:05:18but size is not there to deal with a guy like
00:05:21Carl Anthony Towns in the post.
00:05:23Towns was commended by Mike Brown
00:05:24for his putback in the final minute on Thursday
00:05:28that essentially clinched the game.
00:05:30Even though Towns only played 27 minutes,
00:05:34his coach was impressed how he was able to stay engaged.
00:05:37Speaking of engaged,
00:05:38great news for Carl Anthony Towns
00:05:41and his growing family.
00:05:43What a moment for the Towns.
00:05:44A proposal to his longtime girlfriend, Jordan Woods.
00:05:47I mean, what better way to do it
00:05:48than the top of a New York skyscraper?
00:05:50There's one thing to know about Carl Anthony Towns.
00:05:52He's got such a big heart.
00:05:53And Jordan Woods, now his fiancée.
00:05:57We're together for five years.
00:05:59Some of his friends might have said,
00:06:01what are you waiting for?
00:06:02But he picked a perfect time and a perfect place,
00:06:05New York City, Christmas season.
00:06:07Congratulations to them.
00:06:08And let's go Hawks!
00:06:10And he gets both free throws,
00:06:12so a one-point Nick lead.
00:06:16Now Trey Young, defended by Bridges,
00:06:18rejects the screen from Okonwu.
00:06:21In the lane, kicked it to Risa Shea from the corner.
00:06:25Risa Shea's first career 30-point game
00:06:27came here against the Knicks last November
00:06:29when he had six three-pointers,
00:06:31but that's been tough to replicate.
00:06:32Here's Towns for three.
00:06:35Risa Shea gets the board.
00:06:36Towns mad at himself for that.
00:06:38His step in three normally, he knocks those down.
00:06:40Speaking of which, Johnson can't come.
00:06:42This is one weakness, 33% on the season.
00:06:45Two for his last 14 from the outside.
00:06:50Jalen Johnson can start it in threes.
00:06:52That's going to be MVP-type conversations
00:06:54as Dioro couldn't finish underneath
00:06:56off a nice feed from Towns.
00:06:57And then a held ball on the rebound.
00:06:59It'll be Towns and Johnson jumping it up.
00:07:02You can see the Knicks' focus
00:07:03is to get to the rim as much as possible.
00:07:06Really trying to feature Towns here,
00:07:08trying to accentuate what we've been talking about,
00:07:10the size differential.
00:07:12Quinn Snyder, the Hawks coach before the game,
00:07:14talked about it like it was a major concern
00:07:16for him for his team tonight.
00:07:22Quinn Snyder in year four with the Hawks.
00:07:24It's his third, fourth season.
00:07:25He was signed on at the end of the 22-23
00:07:29campaign when Nate McMillan was relieved of his duties.
00:07:33A lot of expectations for Atlanta coming into this season.
00:07:37They were a trendy pick to contend
00:07:39for the Eastern Conference title.
00:07:41Now, the absence of Christoph Porzingis
00:07:42certainly plays into their struggles.
00:07:45They've shut him down for at least two weeks
00:07:46because of another illness.
00:07:48Re-sachet from the same spot when he misses a game.
00:07:50Meanwhile, the Knicks have missed four of their first five shots.
00:07:56Still have the Hawks.
00:07:58Towns, he's all alone.
00:08:00He'll take the three.
00:08:00And he knocks it down.
00:08:02He didn't think he'd miss two in a row like that.
00:08:04Straight on looks.
00:08:05It's a free throw for him.
00:08:06This looks so much better lately.
00:08:0843% from long distance in his last nine games entering tonight.
00:08:12Johnson forced a pass inside to Daniels,
00:08:14somehow completed it for a point-blank floater.
00:08:21Brunson and Daniels talk about a marquee matchup.
00:08:26He put 30 on in the last two times they faced off last year,
00:08:30but this one's too strong for the elbow.
00:08:33Brunson seems to figure out these top defenders
00:08:36the more he plays them.
00:08:38As a kind of connects again to give Atlanta the lead.
00:08:40We've seen it in playoff series.
00:08:42We've seen it across the regular season.
00:08:44First two games against Dyson Daniels last year,
00:08:46he had 21 points and then 14 points.
00:08:49Then he followed it up with 34 and 36 in the second half of the year
00:08:52as Bridges got stripped by Young.
00:08:56One of the faster teams in the NBA.
00:08:58Trae Young floats it home.
00:09:00Atlanta fourth in pace.
00:09:02Mike Brown wants to slow it down.
00:09:03He calls an early timeout with Atlanta up by three.
00:09:06That's exactly what the Hawks don't want to do.
00:09:09They want to speed it up.
00:09:10One of the highest-paced teams in the NBA.
00:09:12And they want to get up the floor and get easy buckets.
00:09:15And you know Trae Young loves the floater.
00:09:17And he loves playing the Knicks.
00:09:19We've played over 100, just passing Bob McAdoo by near decimal points.
00:09:29And it feels fitting, Allen, as he's somehow one-upping his previous three seasons in New York
00:09:35with a career-high 29 points a game.
00:09:36And he just continues to climb the ladder when it comes to franchise records and franchise marks
00:09:42and his standing in franchise history.
00:09:45He's played 200.
00:09:45This is his 238th game as a Knick.
00:09:48McAdoo, who was here a brief time in New York, played 171 games in about a three-year span.
00:09:54So, he has a scoring talent.
00:09:56He's also played a ton more basketball and expects to play a lot more here in New York as well.
00:10:01Townsend has Daniels inside, and he's fouled by Johnson.
00:10:05And I think the fine folks at NBA.com are listening to Mike Brown and his post-game press conferences
00:10:09when he's been hyping up Jalen Brunson for MVP conversations.
00:10:13He's now number four in what they call the MVP ladder behind Jokic, Gilgis, Alexander, and Doncic.
00:10:21He finally cracked the top five last week after the NBA Cup, and he remains there now.
00:10:27And he should stay in that conversation for as long as he's playing at the level he's been playing at this season.
00:10:33And, you know, Quinn Snyder also, when he talked about Brunson,
00:10:36he didn't talk about what he does on the court.
00:10:39What he marveled about, what he had the most respect for Jalen Brunson,
00:10:43is he said it was his leadership.
00:10:46He felt like that was what really stood out to him.
00:10:49He said he's the whole package.
00:10:51He's their heartbeat.
00:10:52And he said, I have a lot of respect for how he leads that team.
00:10:56So, you could be the great player, the leading scorer.
00:10:58You could be the guy that puts the numbers.
00:11:01But if you're also the guy that is leading the way and the rest are following you,
00:11:06that says a lot more about your character as a player,
00:11:08and it's getting respect around the league.
00:11:10And, of course, Trae Young is the point guard for Atlanta in the face of the franchise.
00:11:14But the elephant in the room is that he's extension eligible,
00:11:18but it has not been offered yet by the Hawks.
00:11:20Well, the elephant is that they've been winning more games without him than with him this year.
00:11:24Here's Bridges for three.
00:11:25Got it over Daniels.
00:11:26Back and forth we go.
00:11:31Nick's up one.
00:11:33First shot from Mikhail Bridges.
00:11:36Didn't quite have the 41-point outburst on Christmas like he did last year
00:11:40as he fouled Johnson, who couldn't convert a potential land one.
00:11:43But Bridges is more of a giver this holiday season.
00:11:46Alan gave everybody Rolexes on the 25th.
00:11:50Did you get yours?
00:11:51All the players did get them.
00:11:52I heard there was a backlog.
00:11:54Jalen Brunson, I got you a Timex.
00:11:56I hope you like it.
00:11:57Sure.
00:11:57But Jalen Brunson said, I have to now say nice things about him
00:12:01because it was a very generous gift.
00:12:04A lot of players loved it.
00:12:05Cronkney Towns loved it.
00:12:08And fans know the story already about a lot of the top players
00:12:13giving some of their NBA Cup bonuses back to the staff.
00:12:16I was wondering why the staff seemed so much happier.
00:12:19I never realized what a happy group they were on this trip.
00:12:22Johnson gets the free throws, but it was five long days in Las Vegas.
00:12:28I can tell you that the staff was putting in overtime
00:12:31and incredible extra effort just to get the Knicks ready to roll.
00:12:34They more than deserved it.
00:12:36Brunson steps back for a three.
00:12:38Ringed it out.
00:12:38Diawara lets Towns get the rebound.
00:12:41Hook pass to Diawara, but he missed the layup.
00:12:43Riesel Shea got a piece of that, I believe.
00:12:46As the height advantage is one thing,
00:12:48but the Hawks are showing you they will challenge at the rim.
00:12:51Ananobi strips young.
00:12:54Diawara, the primary defender that time.
00:13:00Brunson working on Daniels again.
00:13:02Inside of Ananobi, he got fouled by Riesel Shea.
00:13:04That's his first.
00:13:08Trey Young struggling with the Knicks' length.
00:13:11Well, you have to also just make sure you contain him
00:13:13and you try to get him into these types of situations.
00:13:16And now it looked like a deflection from Diawara,
00:13:18and then Ananobi, instead of bending over to pick it up,
00:13:21made sure, get down, grab it, and get the ball up the floor.
00:13:25How about McCuller getting in some early minutes as well
00:13:28as he checks in the game.
00:13:30Diawara will come out.
00:13:33Piecing things to go without Josh Hart.
00:13:36And the Deuce McBride listed as questionable.
00:13:38Haven't seen him in eight games,
00:13:40and he will not be available either.
00:13:42Brunson, foul line jumper over Asa Newell.
00:13:45Missing sure.
00:13:45There's Kevin McCullough, Jr. with an offensive board.
00:13:48And Ananobi passed up to three.
00:13:50And he back rooms the elbow jumper.
00:13:53Just took him out of rhythm, that one step.
00:13:55These are the most important minutes we've seen
00:13:58from Kevin McCullough in his second year out of Kansas
00:14:00as Reese Aschea gets loose for the jam.
00:14:02It's the fourth game this season for McCullough.
00:14:06And, you know, when he came, when he was in college,
00:14:08and he had a devastating knee injury,
00:14:10there were some comparisons to his style of play to Josh Hart.
00:14:15Now, there's only one Josh Hart, but...
00:14:18This is Mike Brown once again giving a young player an opportunity.
00:14:22He'll find Ananobi for an open look, and he connects.
00:14:25OG Ananobi on the board, and Kevin McCullough gets the dime.
00:14:28And you remember, too, the veterans talked to the young guys.
00:14:31They had this meeting after the Minnesota loss
00:14:33and said, some of you guys come in, take advantage of the opportunity.
00:14:37Yeah, Josh Hart led the way on that conversation,
00:14:39says, you guys need to lift us up, keep us accountable, right,
00:14:42if we're having a bad night.
00:14:44Daniels got loose inside, but quickly defended by Ananobi and Bridges,
00:14:47but they will call a foul on Ananobi.
00:14:51McCullough getting some early minutes in this game
00:14:53and making a play, finding the open man, the corner three.
00:14:57Release, rotation, spot.
00:15:03Jordan Clarkson going to check into the game now.
00:15:06You just have to feel good about the Knicks bench.
00:15:10He's coming off 25 points on Thursday.
00:15:12First time as a Knick, he's had three straight games
00:15:15with 10 points or more as he spells Ananobi.
00:15:18Did you think you could say that with Josh Hart and Deuce McBride
00:15:23and Landry Sham, it's not in the lineup?
00:15:27It's been quite a development for the Knicks.
00:15:30Looks like it can raise their ceiling.
00:15:32There's a good bench player for Atlanta.
00:15:33Nikhil Alexander-Walker checks in, but air balls a floater.
00:15:36They're going to get a loose ball foul on the Knicks.
00:15:39And it's Jordan Clarkson pushing off on Reese Asche.
00:15:41And look at Jordan Clarkson shooting over 50% overall
00:15:45and from three-point length, 16-29.
00:15:48He is scorching hot.
00:15:4955% from three.
00:15:51You saw him find his rhythm in the NBA Cup final.
00:15:54That game didn't count as far as, like, for the season.
00:15:58But it seems like it kind of jump-started him
00:16:01because since then, that's five games since then,
00:16:03he really, you could tell, he's in a rhythm.
00:16:05He's feeling it.
00:16:06Maybe it just took him a little while to get comfortable
00:16:08with the Knicks to find his role and where he belongs.
00:16:12But he looks like he certainly belongs now.
00:16:14And Mitchell Robinson will check in.
00:16:17Carl Anthony Towns has been carrying
00:16:19the offensive rebounding load already, though.
00:16:21He's got two offensive boards and six points in six minutes.
00:16:25Johnson to baseline drive.
00:16:27And the reverse wouldn't go.
00:16:28There's a rebound from Robinson.
00:16:31Tie game about five minutes to go in the first quarter.
00:16:34Bridges got hit from behind but nailed a jumper anyway.
00:16:37And Mike Brown runs over to help him up.
00:16:39Next play, speed.
00:16:40And that frees up Alexander Walker for three.
00:16:46A bigger role with Atlanta after making back-to-back conference finals
00:16:50with the Timberwolves.
00:16:51He's averaging a career-high 20 points a game to kill Alexander Walker.
00:16:55Daniel's really staying with Brunson.
00:16:58You can tell he's been watching tons of film on him.
00:17:01Staying down.
00:17:03Clarkson off the dribble.
00:17:04Very short.
00:17:05Second offensive rebound for Kevin McCuller.
00:17:07And he draws a foul on the putback.
00:17:12That's that hustle.
00:17:13Just finding the rebound, getting to it.
00:17:16Little plays.
00:17:17You don't have to make big plays.
00:17:19Just hustle plays.
00:17:20Be there.
00:17:22Constant motion.
00:17:24Draws a foul.
00:17:25And Jalen Johnson's wondering what he did to get that foul.
00:17:28But Kevin McCuller's happy he's at the free throw line looking for two points.
00:17:32It's a big call because that's two now on Jalen Johnson.
00:17:35He's been by far Atlanta's best offensive player.
00:17:38As McCuller back turns the free throw.
00:17:41There's a Vite Krejci checking in for Atlanta.
00:17:43He's been one of the best three-point shooters in the NBA this year.
00:17:4748% on five attempts a night.
00:17:50That's number four in the NBA right now.
00:17:52He lit up Chicago.
00:17:54They had a back-to-back with the Bulls.
00:17:57He got 20 points.
00:17:58I think both nights really lit it up from downtown.
00:18:04The color.
00:18:05This is his first trip to the free throw line.
00:18:07He gets his own rebound.
00:18:08So there's the hustle they're talking about.
00:18:10Although he loses it right away to the great barrier thief.
00:18:14Second in the league with two steals a game.
00:18:16Behind only Case and Wallace.
00:18:17Dyson Daniels.
00:18:19Aconwu at this time.
00:18:22You're right.
00:18:22The three offensive boards in under three minutes for Kevin McCuller, Jr.
00:18:28Of course, led by Mitchell Robinson.
00:18:30This is one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the league.
00:18:35Looks down one.
00:18:36Brunson on the cut.
00:18:37Gets loose inside.
00:18:38And he floats it home.
00:18:39Caught Daniels Knapp and caught him looking at the ball.
00:18:43And perfect cut because Mikael Bridges was in trouble.
00:18:49This is the Villanova connection.
00:18:52The telekinetic reaction.
00:18:54Will you marry me?
00:19:02It's just a flight.
00:19:05It's your next step.
00:19:08Thank you.
00:19:09You're going to do great.
00:19:10And at Delta, we're proud to help you take it.
00:19:12Tip off the new year at Madison Square Garden as the Knicks face the Atlanta Hawks on January
00:19:192nd at 730 Eastern.
00:19:22Scan the QR code or visit Knicks.com to purchase tickets.
00:19:26New York Giants hat there for that Knicks fan.
00:19:29Hang in there, bud.
00:19:30At least you have your Knicks.
00:19:32Your Giants?
00:19:33Well, maybe you'll get a coach and figure it out.
00:19:36At least you got a quarterback, though.
00:19:38Unlike the other New York football team.
00:19:40They're calling it a class of the Titans tomorrow between the Giants and Raiders.
00:19:44Oh, for the number one pick, the toilet bowl.
00:19:49Knicks have made three of their last four shots.
00:19:51Well, the Hawks have missed four of their last five.
00:19:55Asin Newell, the rookie out of Georgia, connects from the corner.
00:19:59The corner threes have been an issue for the Knicks all season.
00:20:01They do give up a lot of them.
00:20:04And we're seeing already early in this game that the Hawks are getting them.
00:20:07It doesn't take a lot, but Newell is now over 50% from three in his young Embry career.
00:20:1419 for 37.
00:20:16Now Clarkson off the dribble.
00:20:18Too much.
00:20:19And Newell secures the rebound with Robinson lurking.
00:20:24Knicks have Brunson, Clarkson, McCuller, Ananobi, and Mitchell Robinson on the floor.
00:20:31Backdoor cut.
00:20:34And Alexander Walker blew the layup.
00:20:36Good rotation from Jalen Brunson.
00:20:39Now Ananobi, full head of steam in on a crate sheet.
00:20:41He missed a layup.
00:20:42Wow.
00:20:43Wow.
00:20:44Nick Pinch is wondering.
00:20:45There was a lot of contact on that drive.
00:20:48And that goes back to another corner three here.
00:20:51That goes back to what Mike Brown has been saying about OG Ananobi not getting calls because he's so strong.
00:20:57And we see that from a lot of them.
00:20:58I remember Julius Randle.
00:20:59It was said about him as well recently.
00:21:02They'll take the three this time.
00:21:03And he knocks it down.
00:21:05OG Ananobi's made his first two three-pointers.
00:21:07And the Knicks are back in front.
00:21:11You're right.
00:21:12Ananobi just so solid on his way to the cup he can't knock him off his spot.
00:21:16So it's hard to see all the contact.
00:21:18McCuller reaches in for another rebound.
00:21:20How about that?
00:21:21McCuller getting it done on the boards.
00:21:22Although that one just found him.
00:21:23Brunson slips inside.
00:21:25Left hand layup is good.
00:21:27Beautiful finish.
00:21:29Don't they know he wants to go left?
00:21:31Trey Young wants to go airborne.
00:21:36O'Connor came down with it.
00:21:38And then he got fouled.
00:21:42So McCuller in five minutes has four rebounds.
00:21:46And here's Jalen Brunson.
00:21:47Just that little bit.
00:21:49Hesitation.
00:21:49Get you off balance.
00:21:50Quick crossover.
00:21:52Night-night.
00:21:54Look at that finish.
00:21:55Barbecue chicken.
00:21:57Replay brought to you by a Buick.
00:21:59This is Buick now.
00:22:01Buick.
00:22:01Conceptional by design.
00:22:03Let's see your local Buick dealer.
00:22:04If you're wondering what the fans are cheering about here.
00:22:07At a place some people call MSG South.
00:22:10It's Tyler Kolek heading to the scorer's table.
00:22:13And he got himself a nice ovation for the Knicks fans in the building.
00:22:2023-22 New York.
00:22:22Final 99 seconds of the opening quarter.
00:22:24Clarkson muscling his way in.
00:22:26Missed a layup.
00:22:26Got it back.
00:22:27Put it in and won.
00:22:28Iso for Clarkson.
00:22:32It's just a one-on-one with everyone spread onto the other side of the floor.
00:22:36Doesn't get the initial one, but stays in rebounding position.
00:22:39It's just a straight one-on-one.
00:22:40Misses it.
00:22:42Just gets it right back.
00:22:43And give me the M1.
00:22:44You see, everybody's just cleared out on one side, and they just let him play one-on-one basketball.
00:22:52It's what he's comfortable doing.
00:22:53And again, that's Mike Brown understanding his players.
00:22:56And Clarkson is a guy.
00:22:58He's not known for to be a three-point shooter, but he's shooting the three better.
00:23:01But he's a terrific one-on-one player.
00:23:04So how do you get him in rhythm?
00:23:05You give him some of these play calls and benefited from it that time.
00:23:10And he sinks the free throw.
00:23:11The Knicks have missed three of their first six.
00:23:14Brunton and Kolek share the backcourt.
00:23:16His pace, he gets loose for three.
00:23:17Can't stay hot.
00:23:18And Robinson wins the rebound battle.
00:23:20Ahead to Kolek.
00:23:23You see the confidence.
00:23:25Back rib, no.
00:23:26And another the rebound.
00:23:29Clarkson slashes in.
00:23:30Strip on Coglu.
00:23:32Looks to have seven offensive rebounds already.
00:23:35Newell runs over Kolek.
00:23:36Lock and foul and one.
00:23:41Mike Brown's not going to be happy with the next play speed on this one.
00:23:45This is a three-on-one.
00:23:46And Kolek, well, they're going to look at it, but I think, where's Kolek's heels?
00:23:55No, he's, yeah, he's, oh, he was on his toes, if you want to be technical, but they're not going to review it.
00:24:01Very close call.
00:24:03Those are the ones you take the beating and you don't get the benefit of it because it ends up being a block.
00:24:09But he's a tough kid and he's going to do it every single time.
00:24:11Continue to see the similarities and skills he's picking up from Jalen Brunson, who's as good as anybody taking charges like that.
00:24:19Pretty good mentor, huh?
00:24:23And Newell can't convert on a three-point play.
00:24:26Muhammad Gay has checked in.
00:24:27The backup center behind Onyeka Okonwu.
00:24:29Again, Christos Porzingis shut down for a couple of weeks, still dealing with an illness that affected him in the playoffs last year against New York.
00:24:38Tip slam, Robinson!
00:24:39The right-hand hammer off the end, and it'll be missed.
00:24:46And yes, and of course, count as another offensive rebound.
00:24:49Get back, get back, get back, get back!
00:24:51Great close.
00:24:51Alexander Walker kicked out, and another three from V. Krejci.
00:24:56It was great help from Robinson.
00:24:57It was a good find, though, for Walker.
00:25:03Brunson speeds in, pulls up, thanks it all.
00:25:07Two for ones.
00:25:08The Knicks do this a lot.
00:25:14Trae Young trying to hurry up, handed by Cole.
00:25:16Expans away from him.
00:25:17Gay got stripped inside by Ananobi.
00:25:19Just as the shot clock turns off.
00:25:29The Knicks got off to a very slow start on Thursday.
00:25:32They trailed 18-3 out of the gate.
00:25:35Got a late first quarter lead here in Atlanta.
00:25:37That's the switch they wanted.
00:25:39Brunson for three.
00:25:40Got it!
00:25:42Trae Young didn't even bother.
00:25:46Alexander Walker at the horn.
00:25:48The Knicks will take a six-point lead into the second quarter.
00:25:53Owning the boards, a 20-9 advantage on the glass.
00:25:57Yeah, the Knicks using their size advantage.
00:25:59And right here, the best offensive rebounder in the game.
00:26:02A one-handed jam.
00:26:04The Knicks up by six.
00:26:07Five for 11 from three out of the gate.
00:26:09Brunson leads the way with 11.
00:26:13Mohawk in double figures.
00:26:1533-27.
00:26:16Knicks teen after the first quarter on Thursday.
00:26:18But a nice six-point advantage as we begin the second quarter in Atlanta.
00:26:23This holiday season, join Pepsi in celebrating the Rockettes during their 100th year.
00:26:28He mentioned the Knicks, Tyler, dominating the boards in that first quarter.
00:26:3420-9, so plus 11.
00:26:36But the bigger number, eight offensive rebounds.
00:26:40A lot of ex-possessions.
00:26:41Now they've struggled with the putbacks.
00:26:42They're only two for five on the second chance possessions.
00:26:45So, if they clean that up, they can open up a bigger lead.
00:26:51A Konglu that put back draws a foul.
00:26:56And he'll get free throws as Towns picks up the foul.
00:27:03Actually, Tyler Kulik picked up the foul.
00:27:06And that's his second.
00:27:07He's playing more than he ever has.
00:27:15Over 30 minutes a game.
00:27:1716 points on average.
00:27:20Last year, he won the starting job from Clint Capella, who's now with the Houston Rockets.
00:27:25And they're asking a lot of this young man in his sixth year out of USC.
00:27:29Totally the same before the game.
00:27:30He plays.
00:27:31Only Jokic and Gobert play more minutes at center this season than him.
00:27:37And it was something they were talking about with Clint Snyder.
00:27:39And he said, just what you just said.
00:27:41We are asking a lot of him.
00:27:42He's 6'8".
00:27:43But they don't have Porzingis right now.
00:27:46And so they need him to play center.
00:27:48Got one of two.
00:27:52Now it's Towns on the other end.
00:27:54Bridges, one touch pass.
00:27:55Clarkson for three.
00:27:58Konglu gets the loose ball.
00:27:59And you're seeing four Hawks in the paint, trying to get rebounds to keep the Knicks off the offensive glass.
00:28:05That's too easy.
00:28:06Off the glass.
00:28:07And a hot start to the second quarter for Atlanta.
00:28:12As Kralak Clarkson bridges Ananobian Towns to begin the second.
00:28:17Towns down the lane.
00:28:19Almost threw it away.
00:28:20And that's out of bounds off of Kralak, they'll say.
00:28:22Mike Brown asking for some help from JT Orr, the official closest to him.
00:28:31But that call is going to land as well.
00:28:37Luke Kennard into the game for the first time.
00:28:40He picked up his first healthy scratch of the season yesterday.
00:28:43And that was strange.
00:28:47His minutes have been going down and down and down.
00:28:51They picked him up in the offseason.
00:28:52That was part of an offseason that people were pretty impressed with here in Atlanta.
00:28:56Some of the players that were adding, they mentioned Porzingis, aforementioned.
00:29:00We also mentioned Nikhil Alexander-Walker, a key six-man type player.
00:29:04And then Kennard, one of the best shooters in the game.
00:29:07But to get a DMP like that shows you you're falling out of favor.
00:29:13First year with Atlanta.
00:29:14One year, $11 million deal.
00:29:17Karnu, he's shooting it just as well as Luke Kennard, it would seem.
00:29:20As Mike Brown calls a timeout.
00:29:22The Hawks center, Onyeka Okonwu, three out of four from distance.
00:29:27He's tied the game at 33.
00:29:29Timeout mix.
00:29:31Three for ten from the floor.
00:29:33And I went at him in front of the whole group.
00:29:37And, you know, I can't say everything that I said.
00:29:39But in a nutshell, I said, you've taken ten shots, the second most on this team, and you only made three.
00:29:46And three or four of those shots were air balls.
00:29:49If you're going to take that many shots, you've got to make some.
00:29:53So he goes six for 12 in the second half.
00:29:57He's got 11 rebounds for the game and eight assists.
00:29:59You know, I was hot.
00:30:00And he walks by me and he looks me in my eye and he goes, I made shots.
00:30:05And he walked off.
00:30:07And it made me smile inside, but I was like, you little.
00:30:11But that's the type of toughness, cockiness, however you want to call it, nastiness.
00:30:17And he's got to show not just to me.
00:30:20I want him to show.
00:30:20I need to feel him like that.
00:30:23But everybody else does on every single play.
00:30:26Great story there from Mike Brown.
00:30:28And we do appreciate him censoring himself.
00:30:30But, Alan, you can tell why New York Knicks fans are starting to fall in love with Tyler Kolick because of moments like that.
00:30:36Well, anybody that followed him in college at Marquette already knew that he had that dog in him, as they like to say.
00:30:43And he loves being challenged like that.
00:30:46In fact, when he was told that Mike Brown told him this story about what happened, he confirmed, oh, yeah, I did that.
00:30:51And he said, but he likes it.
00:30:52He said, he coaches me hard.
00:30:53You want to have coaches who are on you because it's more of a problem if it's the other way around, right?
00:30:59Like, that's what the coaches always say.
00:31:01When I stop yelling at you is when you should be worried.
00:31:04But Kolick, who's a point guard through and through his whole career, and he feels like I'm an extension of the coach on the court.
00:31:12What happened, what he wants, I have to deliver.
00:31:14He talks through me to the team.
00:31:16And so he's used to having that communication with a coach.
00:31:20And so now that he's getting this opportunity and taking advantage of it, he's really starting to, you know, he's starting to feel himself, which you like to see,
00:31:27because that confidence grows within the success that you're seeing on the floor.
00:31:32He's earning Mike Brown's trust, not just as a backup point guard, but playing some crucial late-game minutes.
00:31:37Meanwhile, Karl-Anthony Towns hits the two free throws, and what a smart play.
00:31:41Okonwu is getting hot, so we went right at him.
00:31:44And that drew Okonwu's second foul.
00:31:46He's out of the game now.
00:31:47Knicks up two as beat Krejci can't get past Mikhail Bridges.
00:31:53Newell on the drive, kick out to Kinnard.
00:31:56Threw it over to Daniels with no time on the shot clock.
00:32:00The Knicks forced the turnover.
00:32:01The rotations were precise.
00:32:05Excellent the way the Knicks rotated, moved.
00:32:07There was a lot of movement there.
00:32:09This was not a standstill, iso type of possession for the Hawks.
00:32:12They moved the ball, the players were cutting.
00:32:15Great communication there from the Knicks on the switches and closeouts.
00:32:19Quinn Snyder called the Knicks a well-oiled machine before the game.
00:32:22He saw it there as Towns lumbered into the land, and he stripped out of bounds by Newell.
00:32:26Take a look at this defensive sequence again for the Knicks' force on the shot clock violation.
00:32:34Exactly a well-oiled machine.
00:32:35You just see right here, so there's great defense there.
00:32:37Now you watch.
00:32:37Just stay in front of your man.
00:32:39Now look at the cutting.
00:32:39Don't watch the ball.
00:32:41Watch the players just minding.
00:32:42See there, Kolek comes down.
00:32:44And then another one here.
00:32:46Bridges and Kolek.
00:32:48All communication.
00:32:49All weeding your teammate.
00:32:51Excellent defense.
00:32:52Towns will get right back to the free throw line.
00:32:54That last replay was brought to you by Heineken.
00:32:57Enjoy Heineken responsibly.
00:32:59And a lot of that is also a lot of trust and understanding.
00:33:02When a player starts to cut, you just see him move, so now you know where to go.
00:33:06Mike Brown likes to call it five players on a string.
00:33:08We've heard that many times before.
00:33:10But individual defense is one thing.
00:33:12But when a five-man unit plays defense like that, it's stifling.
00:33:19Knicks had forced the third Hawks turnover on that shot clock violation.
00:33:24Atlanta had 21 turnovers yesterday in the 126-111 loss to Miami.
00:33:30It was the very first thing Quinn Steiner brought up at his post-game press conference.
00:33:33So they cleaned that up with the exception of that last possession.
00:33:38That was a bad game last night for the Hawks on many levels.
00:33:41It was an important game for them at home, but also Miami was not anywhere near full roster.
00:33:49No Bam out of Bayou, no Tyler Herro.
00:33:50Right, and one team just wanted it more defensively, clearly.
00:33:55Two more free throws for Carl Anthony Towns.
00:34:00He's got ten, and seven of them coming at the free throw line.
00:34:06Krejci off the screen from Newell.
00:34:08Too strong, and Towns pulls down rebound number six.
00:34:11And a good box out from Towns, too.
00:34:13Lost art in the NBA.
00:34:15A little fundamental basketball for you.
00:34:17Towns quick trigger.
00:34:19Long rebound, and Newell got there before Clarkson, and they're going to call a foul on Clarkson.
00:34:2350-50, he got there just a step too late, so he gets the foul.
00:34:28But don't fault the effort. Clarkson could have just let that go.
00:34:32But he made, he made that happen because he made, who was it?
00:34:37Was it Newell?
00:34:38He made him go get the ball.
00:34:41You can see the renewed intensity for Jordan Clarkson on both ends
00:34:45as he's playing for a contender for the first time in the last three years.
00:34:49Kennard down the lane.
00:34:50A rare two-point shot is good.
00:34:53Goal!
00:34:55Defense!
00:34:57Kennard now with his fourth team in nine years.
00:35:00As Colex passed, somehow finds Bridges inside to Towns for an easy two.
00:35:05Cale Bridges on the spot in the right place at the right time again.
00:35:09And he keeps it inbounds.
00:35:10Two on one.
00:35:11Clarkson back to Bridges for the All-Ears.
00:35:13What a play.
00:35:18The double loop.
00:35:21Talk about a well-oiled machine.
00:35:23Johnson in the lane.
00:35:24Throws it up and in.
00:35:25That's what he does.
00:35:28Downhill.
00:35:29Can finish just like, again, prototype NBA wing.
00:35:32They've locked him down, though.
00:35:34He's averaging 26 points this month.
00:35:36But here's his first field goal.
00:35:38As Colex gets inside and scores that one.
00:35:42And then puts his arms out as if to say,
00:35:44are you not entertained?
00:35:49The ball handling behind the back.
00:35:53Stronger than you.
00:35:54And yes.
00:35:55I don't know.
00:35:55Off the steal from Bridges.
00:35:59He sees his teammate.
00:36:01And it's amazing how they read that.
00:36:03Because you would think Clarkson thought,
00:36:04oh, that's for me.
00:36:05But no, as Colex misses the free throw
00:36:07and lets out a choice word afterwards.
00:36:10But the fact that, you know, you understand,
00:36:12no, that's for me.
00:36:13I'm going to give that back to you.
00:36:15It's a 10-4 Nick run.
00:36:17Muhammad Di Awara getting plenty of first-half minutes.
00:36:22Second career start.
00:36:24Bridges in the corner.
00:36:25He'll drive baseline out of a double-team to Clarkson.
00:36:28Back to Bridges.
00:36:31Tough catch.
00:36:33And the shot wouldn't go.
00:36:34Towns gets his third offensive rebound.
00:36:37Hook pass to Bridges.
00:36:38And another slam.
00:36:46This is beautiful basketball from New York.
00:36:49Are we in Atlanta or are we at Rucker Park?
00:36:50The 1-4?
00:36:52Arvin Sanders.
00:36:53Largest lead for the Knicks.
00:36:56Johnson.
00:36:58Cutting Newell.
00:36:59Pump fake on Clarkson and he backs it in.
00:37:01Субтитры сделал DimaTorzok
00:37:31He's got he's such a good passer a better passer I think that people really expect
00:37:37and he loves making those types of looks where he sees you but he doesn't want the defense to know
00:37:43just the slick flick of the wrist
00:37:47playing in such rhythm right now and
00:37:51it's been a conversation all year as he adjusts to his new role with Mike Brown's offense playing in different spots on the court
00:37:57his vision tonight more noticeable than what we've seen in a long time
00:38:01as he gets the first free throw we'll take the second after this Quinn Snyder timeout
00:38:06719 to go in the second quarter
00:38:09Knicks are humming up 46 to
00:38:11on to every memory this time of year and make it another
00:38:15December to remember because the greatest measure of the season is how it makes you feel
00:38:19the December to remember sales event get offers on select models
00:38:23Knicks up seven with a free throw to come from Carl Anthony Towns from game nights at the garden to winter days in the city

00:38:38scan the QR or head to Knicks.com slash shop to check out the latest release
00:38:42Knicks jerseys all over this building
00:38:48I think it's two to one
00:38:51Knicks jerseys to Hawks jerseys in this building
00:38:55I don't think that's an overstatement
00:38:58you're getting some head nods from our colleagues here on press row
00:39:01look around
00:39:01I appreciate the support but
00:39:04look with
00:39:06all right
00:39:07look with your eyes
00:39:09the eyes will tell you
00:39:10there's a Bernard King jersey
00:39:12there's certainly been a line of people wanting to come say hi to you Alan
00:39:15so that kind of gives us a gauge
00:39:17as talent gives us a second
00:39:18it was more like
00:39:19where's Clyde?
00:39:22let's go
00:39:22I said somewhere sunny and warm
00:39:24Trey Young back into the game
00:39:28and so is Kevin McCuller Jr
00:39:29O'Connor across the paint
00:39:31floats it up and in over Towns
00:39:33remember
00:39:36McCuller has three offensive rebounds
00:39:39early in the first quarter
00:39:41Mike Brown getting him back out there
00:39:43with Kolek, Diowara, and Anovian Towns
00:39:45Towns
00:39:47wide open lane
00:39:48and a right hand jam
00:39:4916 first half points for Carl Anthony Towns
00:39:59Young off the ball fake
00:40:00a little bit too much razzle dazzle
00:40:02Krejci on the drive
00:40:04sealed off by McCuller
00:40:06Alexander Walker got loose
00:40:08shows the ball to Towns
00:40:10and then draws the foul
00:40:11and it's just the first on Towns
00:40:15who has been rocking the rim all night
00:40:16Knicks up eight
00:40:18and right here
00:40:19just gets that beautiful pocket pass
00:40:21and then
00:40:22my goodness
00:40:24like where's it honestly
00:40:27this is a great dump
00:40:28but even he'd say
00:40:29like where is everybody
00:40:30like that
00:40:31that's
00:40:32that's one where
00:40:33if you're a Quinn Snyder
00:40:34you're just wondering
00:40:34are guys committed
00:40:35giving up at least 120 points
00:40:38in each game of this
00:40:39five game losing streak
00:40:41for the season
00:40:43the middle of the pack
00:40:45I don't care who's around you
00:40:47when you have Dyson Daniels
00:40:48first team all defense
00:40:50he figured you'd have a
00:40:51decent defensive unit
00:40:52but perhaps the loss of
00:40:54Christoph Porzingis
00:40:54and his rim protection
00:40:55has to be considered
00:40:57that's a huge part
00:40:58you know
00:40:58Porzingis dealing with
00:41:00illness again this year
00:41:01like they thought they had it
00:41:02all figured out last year
00:41:03in Boston
00:41:04and
00:41:05there's a reason why
00:41:07the Hawks right now
00:41:08among teams that are
00:41:08rumored to be interested
00:41:09if Dallas is going to move
00:41:11Anthony Davis
00:41:12they're willing to
00:41:14to make
00:41:15that move
00:41:15because clearly here
00:41:17you could see
00:41:18size factor
00:41:19is a major issue
00:41:20and rim protection
00:41:21a major issue
00:41:22Kolek and Cat
00:41:24coming out
00:41:25it's a 10 point quarter
00:41:26for Towns
00:41:27so the new Nick lineup
00:41:28is Brunson
00:41:29McCuller
00:41:30Diawara
00:41:31Ananobi
00:41:32and Robinson
00:41:32couple of screens
00:41:40from Mitchell Robinson
00:41:42Brunson in the paint
00:41:43he had 11
00:41:44in the first quarter
00:41:45this is his first shot
00:41:46of the second
00:41:46Reese Asche
00:41:50catch and drive
00:41:51fade away over
00:41:53Ananobi
00:41:53misses short
00:41:54Reese Asche
00:41:55the number one
00:41:56overall pick
00:41:57last year
00:41:5833 spots
00:41:59ahead of Tyler Kolek
00:42:00as Ananobi
00:42:01turns it over
00:42:01this is the fifth
00:42:02giveaway for the Knicks
00:42:03slipped out of his hands
00:42:04that sometimes will happen
00:42:05to Ananobi
00:42:06when he's making moves
00:42:07to the basket
00:42:08still a good start
00:42:11for him
00:42:11he's two for two
00:42:12from three
00:42:12McCuller pulls down
00:42:14yet another rebound
00:42:15he's got five
00:42:16in seven minutes
00:42:17Brunson
00:42:18inside out dribble
00:42:19gets loose
00:42:19in the lane
00:42:20Mr. Florida
00:42:21Robinson
00:42:22cleans it up
00:42:22he had perhaps the most
00:42:27impactful
00:42:28zero point game
00:42:29on Christmas
00:42:30you could ever have
00:42:31but he's got four points
00:42:34in seven minutes
00:42:34tonight
00:42:35both on putbacks
00:42:36his big strong body
00:42:37what is it
00:42:38what did
00:42:38uh
00:42:39he has now moved past
00:42:49Donovan Klingon
00:42:50and Steven Adams
00:42:51for number one
00:42:52in the league
00:42:53in offensive rebounds
00:42:54again
00:42:54in fact
00:42:56he passed
00:42:57100 for the year
00:42:58earlier today
00:42:59DOR gets loose
00:43:00for a wide open layup
00:43:01that's a nice play
00:43:02by OG Ananobi
00:43:03football movement
00:43:04good people movement
00:43:04DOR not standing still
00:43:06largest lead of the game
00:43:08Krejci for three
00:43:10offensive rebound
00:43:11Reese Asche
00:43:12put back drops in
00:43:13Hawks looking for a spark
00:43:20not just five straight losses
00:43:22but nine of their last 11
00:43:24Reese Asche
00:43:26stripped by McCuller
00:43:27and he saved it to DOR
00:43:28what a hostile play
00:43:30from Kevin McCuller
00:43:31Brunson's got six to shoot
00:43:35double team
00:43:37Ananobi
00:43:38McCuller wide open
00:43:39corner three
00:43:40got it
00:43:41what a possession
00:43:42for Kevin McCuller Jr
00:43:44somewhere
00:43:44wherever Josh Hart's
00:43:46watching this game
00:43:46he's got to be smiling
00:43:47Alexander Walker
00:43:49fouled by McCuller
00:43:50and free throws for him
00:43:52this Nick Bench
00:43:53is something else
00:43:54I mean this is right
00:43:55out of the Josh Hart
00:43:56playbook right
00:43:57just the hustle play
00:43:58giving up the body
00:44:00just to get that
00:44:00possession
00:44:01look at him
00:44:01that's an offensive
00:44:02defensive rebound
00:44:03he makes that play
00:44:05now
00:44:05then he gets back up
00:44:07sets himself
00:44:08finds himself open
00:44:09and knocks down the
00:44:10corner three
00:44:11good on you
00:44:12that's your built
00:44:14for tough play
00:44:15presented by your local
00:44:16Ford stores
00:44:17it's got to feel great
00:44:19for him just to have an
00:44:19impact
00:44:20he was a really good
00:44:21college player
00:44:22had a devastating knee
00:44:23injury
00:44:24and the Knicks took a
00:44:25chance on him
00:44:26and they also showed
00:44:27patience with him
00:44:28as he worked his way
00:44:29through a long rehab
00:44:30process and finding his game
00:44:32again in the G League
00:44:33and wanting to one day
00:44:35make an impact in the NBA
00:44:37well he's doing it tonight
00:44:38here in Atlanta
00:44:38he was featured a lot
00:44:40in Summer League
00:44:41when he said that
00:44:42this year
00:44:43really feels like
00:44:44his rookie season
00:44:45because as you said
00:44:46only got to play
00:44:47a handful of games
00:44:48in garbage time
00:44:48last year
00:44:49and now in his
00:44:54fifth game of the season
00:44:56as Alexander Walker
00:44:57sinks the free throw
00:44:58Bridges will bring it up
00:45:04to give Brunson a breather
00:45:05now in Anobi
00:45:088 to shoot for Mikhail
00:45:14Bridges
00:45:15working on Alexander
00:45:16Walker
00:45:17shot clock draining
00:45:19tough fadeaway
00:45:20Daniels the rebound
00:45:22final four minutes
00:45:26second quarter
00:45:27Knicks by nine
00:45:29Okonwu draws the foul
00:45:30and they're having trouble
00:45:31slowing him down tonight
00:45:32we'll get right back
00:45:33to the free throw line
00:45:34those threes
00:45:35he hit early in the game
00:45:36that now makes you
00:45:38have to respect it
00:45:38because the first one
00:45:39okay let's see if you get
00:45:41hot
00:45:41the second one
00:45:41alright now it's time
00:45:42to pay attention
00:45:43the third one
00:45:46now you got to get up
00:45:47and put your hand up
00:45:48and now that you're doing
00:45:49that he has the athletic
00:45:50ability to make that one
00:45:52move around you
00:45:53and go to the basket
00:45:54it was the first foul
00:45:56on Brunson
00:45:56and the Knicks were able
00:45:58to extend the lead
00:45:59to a game high 11
00:46:00largely with Okonwu
00:46:01on the bench
00:46:02because Carl Anthony
00:46:03Towns drew his second
00:46:04foul
00:46:04and as we expected
00:46:07Okonwu leading the Hawks
00:46:08in scoring
00:46:08right
00:46:08you go into these games
00:46:10talking about
00:46:11Trey Young
00:46:11and Jalen Johnson
00:46:12and yet it's Okonwu
00:46:16who is providing
00:46:17offense while the rest
00:46:18of his teammates
00:46:18are struggling
00:46:19he's always been a
00:46:20strong player
00:46:21good two-way guy
00:46:23but an undersized center
00:46:24after being selected
00:46:25sixth overall
00:46:26in 2020
00:46:27McCuller pick and roll
00:46:31kicks to Bridges
00:46:31open three over
00:46:32Daniels is good
00:46:33McCuller by the way
00:46:37two assists
00:46:39six rebounds
00:46:42got the three points
00:46:43from the three-pointer
00:46:44fill in the box
00:46:46score
00:46:46a little of everything
00:46:47so if Tyler
00:46:51is like a version
00:46:53of Jalen Brunson
00:46:54are we getting
00:46:56a version of Josh Hart
00:46:58out of Kevin McCuller
00:46:59too soon
00:47:01maybe a little
00:47:04I'm being told yes
00:47:05but an encouraging
00:47:07start to say the least
00:47:09as Daniel draws the fan
00:47:10it's encouraging
00:47:12just to watch
00:47:13the impact
00:47:13that he's having
00:47:14and this is what
00:47:17Josh Hart told
00:47:19the young players
00:47:19after the loss
00:47:21in Minnesota
00:47:22which was a frustrating
00:47:23loss
00:47:23and he said
00:47:24when you guys get in
00:47:25you gotta take advantage
00:47:27of those minutes
00:47:28you come in
00:47:29and you play
00:47:29with confidence
00:47:30you gotta help us
00:47:32sometimes
00:47:32and that's how
00:47:34great teams
00:47:35go through a season
00:47:36without having
00:47:37waltz
00:47:37there was the season
00:47:40finale in Brooklyn
00:47:41last year
00:47:42the Knicks won it
00:47:43running away
00:47:44where McCuller
00:47:44played 21 minutes
00:47:46that was just his
00:47:46fifth and final game
00:47:48of the regular campaign
00:47:49but this
00:47:50and a game
00:47:51that certainly
00:47:52means a lot to him
00:47:53and the Knicks
00:47:54trying to stay hot
00:47:54this is by far
00:47:56the most he's played
00:47:57in an NBA game
00:47:58running on 10 minutes
00:47:59now
00:48:00Brunson did just
00:48:01pick up his second
00:48:02foul that last time
00:48:03down
00:48:04but a nine point
00:48:05Nick Glead
00:48:06final three minutes
00:48:07here in the second
00:48:08late shot clock
00:48:10for Ananobi
00:48:11McCuller
00:48:12with the grenade
00:48:13rebound
00:48:15Okonwu
00:48:16McCuller hit his first
00:48:19three pointer
00:48:19Brunson neutralized
00:48:23tonight
00:48:23just two points
00:48:24in 13 minutes
00:48:25Okonwu in the lane
00:48:26not this time
00:48:27but he got the rebound
00:48:28back off the deflection
00:48:29and then Yika Okonwu
00:48:30has nine second
00:48:31quarter points
00:48:32as Clyde would say
00:48:34a little serendipity
00:48:34there
00:48:35he was standing there
00:48:36and the ball
00:48:36just bounced to him
00:48:38Brunson for three
00:48:39in and out
00:48:41and Okonwu
00:48:42gets the rebound
00:48:42two away
00:48:44from an early
00:48:45double-double
00:48:45Young slides inside
00:48:49met by a couple
00:48:50of Knicks
00:48:50and Robinson
00:48:51saved it to McCuller
00:48:52McCuller's the one
00:48:53that slowed down
00:48:54Young there
00:48:54Go ahead
00:48:55He's feeling it
00:48:57Puts it in

00:52:50in that first half
00:52:52while led
00:52:52of course
00:52:53by the All-Stars
00:52:54Brunson and Towns
00:52:56it was a story
00:52:57of the Knicks depth
00:52:58and contributions
00:53:00from players
00:53:01off the bench
00:53:01but can they pull off
00:53:03on Yekka Okongwu

00:53:07high 19 points
00:53:09entered tonight
00:53:13shooting 34%
00:53:14for the year
00:53:15this is really
00:53:16the first season
00:53:17they've asked him
00:53:17to take
00:53:18a heavy dose
00:53:19of threes
00:53:20Brunson meanwhile
00:53:22is 1 of 4
00:53:22from the outside
00:53:23the Knicks were not burned
00:53:27by Jalen Johnson
00:53:28nor Trae Young
00:53:29in that first half
00:53:30as Young turns it over
00:53:31perhaps their two
00:53:33highest profile players
00:53:34combined for six
00:53:35first half points
00:53:35if that's not emblematic
00:53:37of the Hawks this year
00:53:38Trae Young wide open
00:53:40that normally was
00:53:41an easy three
00:53:44he goes to pass it
00:53:45miscommunication
00:53:46turnover
00:53:46and just the 10th game
00:53:48of the year
00:53:49for Trae Young
00:53:49missed 22 games
00:53:50with a knee injury
00:53:51Deowara for three
00:53:53that is now
00:53:58four consecutive games
00:54:00with at least
00:54:00one three-pointer
00:54:01made
00:54:02for the 20-year-old
00:54:03rookie Muhammad Deowara
00:54:04who's been a ton
00:54:05of work on that
00:54:05part of his game
00:54:06and there's Towns
00:54:07with a block
00:54:07on Reset Chef
00:54:08in the open court
00:54:10Deowara
00:54:11Bridges
00:54:12sealed off by Daniels
00:54:14good pass to Ananobi
00:54:15but he left
00:54:17the three short
00:54:17I love how hard
00:54:23Deowara runs
00:54:24he's just constant motion
00:54:26a rare miss
00:54:27from Akonglu
00:54:28he's not out there
00:54:30for cardio
00:54:31Bridges poked away
00:54:32by Young
00:54:33it'll stay with New York
00:54:34and that was one
00:54:35of the plays
00:54:35that stood out
00:54:36in summer league
00:54:37for Muhammad Deowara
00:54:38he took a loose ball
00:54:40coast to coast
00:54:41easy lay in
00:54:42and right from there
00:54:43you saw
00:54:43yes the raw ability
00:54:45but we can get up
00:54:47and down very quickly
00:54:48but it's the motor
00:54:51right
00:54:51that's what Mike Brown
00:54:52wants
00:54:52just play with the motor
00:54:54Brunson off the catch
00:54:55rattles it in over Daniels
00:54:57and Jalen Brunson
00:54:58has 18
00:54:59and the defense
00:55:04from Deowara
00:55:04Johnson finds Young
00:55:06Trae Young
00:55:08was red hot
00:55:09from three yesterday
00:55:10was five out of eight
00:55:11on his way to 30 points
00:55:13but can't find the range
00:55:14so far tonight
00:55:15he's the first back-to-back
00:55:18he's playing in too
00:55:19so you see
00:55:20he's not really
00:55:21forcing it
00:55:22mixed by 16
00:55:26their largest lead
00:55:27with the miss
00:55:30now Daniels
00:55:34up top for Conway
00:55:36met by Brunson
00:55:37in the lane
00:55:38and draws the foul
00:55:39and scores
00:55:39first player
00:55:43with 20 points
00:55:44tonight
00:55:44on Yekka
00:55:45Oconway
00:55:46Brunson
00:55:49I guess it's the
00:55:50low hand
00:55:51the arm down
00:55:52that J.T. Orr
00:55:54had to make the call
00:55:55Jalen didn't like it
00:55:56it's his third foul
00:55:57Brunson's had
00:56:02some conversations
00:56:02with Orr
00:56:03in this game
00:56:04on some things
00:56:04and he's been
00:56:07frustrated
00:56:07but that's one
00:56:08where he felt like
00:56:09that's a soft whistle
00:56:10no need
00:56:10but
00:56:12the legal position
00:56:15you call the foul
00:56:16Okongu
00:56:16a 22 point
00:56:17double-double now

00:56:21pump fixed
00:56:22fights
00:56:22challenge
00:56:23for the jam
00:56:23we've seen more
00:56:26dunks in this game
00:56:27for the Knicks
00:56:27than maybe we have
00:56:28all year
00:56:29Young down the lane
00:56:33missed the layup
00:56:34tipped in by Daniels
00:56:36that's a shot
00:56:36Trey Young makes
00:56:37nine times out of ten
00:56:38now Daniels
00:56:44pokes it away
00:56:45from Brunson
00:56:46Young races up
00:56:48against Bridges
00:56:49and opens up
00:56:50a wide open jam
00:56:51for Daniels
00:56:51to the game changing
00:56:56plays
00:56:56Tyson Daniels
00:56:57can make
00:56:58he led the league
00:56:59in deflections
00:57:00a season ago
00:57:01in fact
00:57:02he had the most
00:57:02in NBA history
00:57:03now Bridges
00:57:05Young's behind the play
00:57:06five on four
00:57:07for the Knicks
00:57:08Brunson
00:57:08Brunson's the open man
00:57:09and he hits the three
00:57:11make him pay
00:57:12Trey Young fell down
00:57:14from the contact
00:57:15probably looking to get a call
00:57:16and then stayed down
00:57:17rather than get up quick
00:57:19get back in the play
00:57:20Brunson started
00:57:21one of four from three
00:57:22he's made his last two
00:57:23and an obi gets the block
00:57:25on Reese
00:57:25long outlet to Brunson
00:57:27Bridges striding to the cup
00:57:29for a right hand jam
00:57:30the Knicks are angry at the rims
00:57:34here in Atlanta
00:57:34as Quinn Snyder calls timeout
00:57:37and the Knicks just running
00:57:41just getting down the floor
00:57:43just out working
00:57:44out hustling
00:57:45the Hawks
00:57:46what a strong finish here
00:57:48now watch Trey Young here
00:57:49this is again
00:57:50make winning plays
00:57:51okay
00:57:51so you try to draw the foul
00:57:52is there any hustle
00:57:54any effort there whatsoever
00:57:56it's the face of your franchise
00:57:5865 lead
00:58:00with 819 to go
00:58:02in the third quarter
00:58:03and Allen
00:58:03they're getting a lot of
00:58:04high percentage shots tonight
00:58:06yeah some of that
00:58:07or most of it has to do
00:58:08with the defense
00:58:09but when McHale Bridges
00:58:10dunks the basketball
00:58:10he get
00:58:11I got up so high
00:58:13my nose is bleeding
00:58:14my nose is bleeding
00:58:16but then it looks like
00:58:17he's looking around
00:58:18for what drops of blood
00:58:19I don't know
00:58:19but he loves to celebrate
00:58:22has a lot of celebrations
00:58:23he does do that often
00:58:25although that time
00:58:26I was wondering
00:58:26did he lose a contact lens
00:58:27or something
00:58:28but he added a few layers
00:58:29to the nose bleep celebration
00:58:30for sure
00:58:31added drama
00:58:32Johnson slashing
00:58:34scores over Ananobi
00:58:35you see if that gets him going
00:58:37he was one of six
00:58:38with just four points
00:58:39before that make
00:58:39and again Johnson
00:58:42averaging a 25 point
00:58:44triple double in December
00:58:46the Knicks have locked
00:58:47him up tonight
00:58:47and Ananobi off the catch
00:58:52drives on Reese Sashay
00:58:54now finds Dior
00:58:55making his second career start
00:58:58crossover in the lane
00:58:59Dior
00:58:59blocked by Johnson
00:59:01got the loose ball though
00:59:02and the Knicks will keep it
00:59:03although no shot clock violation
00:59:06apparently never hit the rim
00:59:07it was a great block
00:59:09but you see how Dior stays in the play
00:59:12next play energy
00:59:13so yeah okay
00:59:15they're gonna check it
00:59:16the block was a great block
00:59:20but it's just
00:59:21even if this doesn't turn into an extra possession
00:59:23it's the fact that he doesn't give up on the play
00:59:25doesn't soak his shoulders
00:59:26doesn't stop
00:59:28just next play
00:59:30first play that plays over
00:59:32what can you do next
00:59:34so yeah he makes a great block
00:59:36but what are you gonna do next
00:59:37that could have been a cold time
00:59:39that was pretty close
00:59:41they went back and looked
00:59:43the Knicks will keep it
00:59:44with three tenths of a second
00:59:46which of course is the magic number
00:59:48they can still catch and shoot
00:59:49but it will have to be very quick
00:59:52and Ananobi breaks free
00:59:56got it off in time
00:59:57and he knocks it down
00:59:58OG Ananobi
