00:00A warm evening to everyone, Floyd Brenz here and you're watching PTV News Now.
00:09We're keeping you informed with the nation's biggest developments tonight and topping our stories this hour.
00:16President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is expected to sign the proposed 2026 national budget in the first week of January, according to Executive Secretary Ralph Recto.
00:26The delay comes as Congress wrap up the budget at the 11th hour, leaving little time for review before year-end.
00:35Malacanang said the president would rather measure twice than cut once to ensure public funds are well spent.
00:42Officials stressed that avoiding re-enacted budget is crucial to keep government projects rolling without a hitch.
00:49The Philippine Coast Guard is leaving no zone unturned this holiday season as it continues port inspections and safety checks nationwide under a planned Biyaheng Ayos Pascot 2025.
01:02The PCG has inspected over 2,200 vessels and 2,000 motor bankas while keeping a close watch on more than 500,000 inbound and outbound passengers traveling to and from the provinces.
01:17With passenger traffic in full swing, the Coast Guard remains on heightened alert from December 20 until January 4 to ensure smooth and safe sea travel.
01:28Passengers are urged to get ports early, follow safety rules, wear a life vest when required, and steer clear overload or unsafe vessels.
01:37Join us again tomorrow evening for another round of stories from here and abroad, breaking at the hour.
01:44And as always, stay connected by catching the news right here.
01:47With Christmas just few hours away, this is Floyd Brantz wishing you and your loved ones a warm, peaceful and restful evening.
