A suspect is dead after a police officer was killed in a shooting at the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in Wilmington, Delaware, on Tuesday (Dec 23).

00:00A suspect is dead after a police officer was killed in a shooting at the Department of Motor Vehicles in Wilmington, Delaware, on Tuesday.
00:13Delaware State Police reported an active shooter just after 2 p.m. local time, but authorities later confirmed the situation was under control and the suspect had been neutralized.
00:24The early investigation revealed that a 44-year-old male suspect entered the DMV as a customer.
00:31A short time later, the suspect approached the trooper who was working an overtime assignment, sitting at the reception desk, and shot him.
00:42After being shot, the trooper pushed a DMV employee out of harm's way and the suspect shot the trooper again.
00:48Multiple police agencies responded to the DMV, and a Newcastle County police officer confronted the suspect and shot him.
00:58The suspect was taken to an area hospital where he died.
01:02Delaware Governor Matt Meyer described the incident as an act of pure evil and praised the heroism of the officers involved.
01:10What happened today was an act of pure evil, and if not for the heroism of several troopers and other officers, the consequences could have been so much worse.
01:30The threat was over before 3 p.m., and two other people, including a second state trooper and a woman, suffered minor injuries unrelated to gunfire.
01:41Police continue to investigate the incident and have advised the public to avoid the area.
