02:12It is a declaration of vengeance.
02:14The retaliatory strikes coming after officials say a lone ISIS gunman killed the three Americans and wounded three others
02:22while they were on patrol in Palmyra, Syria, supporting counterterrorism operations against the Islamic State.
02:28They were the first U.S. combat deaths in Syria since 2019.
02:33It was just two days ago that their remains were flown back home to the U.S.,
02:37the president there with their families for the dignified transfer at Dover Air Force Base.
02:43And tonight, the White House says the president is now delivering on his promise to avenge their deaths.
02:49So again, David, this is a major ongoing military operation.
