00:00Rams wide receiver Puka Nakua responded to allegations of anti-Semitism, the heat he got for criticizing NFL refs and his brother getting locked up and arrested for stealing a Lakers player's SUV like an absolute boss.
00:15My man went dummy last night in L.A.'s OT loss to the Seahawks on Thursday night football. 12 catches, 225 yards, and two touchdowns. Usually these type of controversies end up being distractions in the locker room and a player doesn't really play his way out of the noise, but we can all agree that boy absolutely balled out and almost put all the noise behind him now. Key word in that, almost. Right, Coach McVay?
00:43What conversations have you had with Puka about his live stream this week?
00:47Yeah, he was very apologetic. I don't think he understood the totality of some of the things. I think he issued that apology. I know this guy's heart, and for anybody that was offended, terribly sorry about that. I know he feels that same exact way. He's a young guy that's a great kid that's continuing to learn about, you know, just the platform that he has. I love him. We're going to continue to put our arm around him and help him learn and grow, but we never want to do things that ever offend anybody, and I know he feels that same way.
01:13Did it feel like a distraction this week?
01:15No, it wasn't a distraction at all. Did you think his play showed that he was distracted? I didn't think so either. He went off today.
01:21All right, there's two parts to this, because it sounds like Puka learned his lesson when it comes to being a little bit more aware of the impact on the things that he does, and I don't really think that he was intentionally trying to offend anyone when he did that dance on the live stream.
01:38And side note, Aiden Ross and Neon, y'all are some absolute lames for setting him up like that, but hey, in Puka's situation, we live and we learn, but what it doesn't sound like is that he's learned to chill out from criticizing these refs and bringing this unwanted heat to the locker room,
01:57and that's the distraction that no NFL team wants. No NFL coach either, because look, after the game, this man, Puka, tweeted,
02:07Can you say I was wrong? Appreciate you stripes for your contribution, lol. And of course, that was deleted because the man just doubled down and went back at the referees.
02:19But Sean McVay had absolutely no clue about the tweet and was blindsided by reporters when he was asked about it after going to bat for Puka.
02:31What are you talking about? You just put something on a glitter a couple minutes ago.
02:40Yeah, you know, so what are you asking me right now? Do you, are you, I can't answer questions about something that I'm not aware of.
02:47Okay, but are you okay with players kind of expressing frustration over things like that? Or is that something that you hope that they kind of keep to themselves?
02:53I gotta have more information before I answer any of those kind of questions.
02:57Look at how pissed McVay was having to try and answer to something that he had absolutely no clue about and probably something that he had already talked to Puka about and told him to chill out on.
03:10This man, in terms of Puka, just earned himself a fine by both the NFL and McVay for that tweet and for making Sean McVay look like a complete asshole to reporters.
03:20Some of y'all are gonna be like, oh, it's no big deal. It's just a tweet. And he's only saying what we all feel about the NFL referees. But if you're a fan or media, yeah, you can criticize the refs all you want.
03:33You don't have to worry about the repercussions or even revenge. These NFL officials are like gossip girls.
03:40They keep and hold on to grudges. And Sean McVay and the Rams players do not want to be on the bad end of a call because one of the refs' feelings were hurt or they were in their feelings by Puka publicly criticizing them.
03:56Kind of like Thursday night's loss, right?
03:58I've never quite seen anything like what happened on the two-point conversion where you're lined up to kickoff. Then they say it's a fumble because they had the clear and obvious recovery. Now you tack it on. You make it a 30-30 game.
04:09Very interesting. Didn't get a clear explanation of everything that went on just because of some of the timing of it. They were trying to be able to do that. But that's the thing that I've said. I've never seen anything or never been a part of anything like that.
04:22And I've grown up around this game. I'm not making excuses. We don't do that. I don't believe in that. It doesn't move us forward. But we do want clarity and an understanding of the things that we can do to minimize that when we rejected the two-point conversion.
