00:00Mommy influencer Emily Kaiser is apologizing after a video showed her toddler riding on a
00:04boat without a life jacket. The clip, which was later deleted, was filmed during a family
00:08vacation in Spain. And in it, the boat is bouncing along the water and you see 16-month-old Teddy
00:13at the wheel with his dad, not wearing any kind of protective flotation device. Under Spanish law,
00:19children under 13 are required to wear life jackets on the deck of a moving recreational boat.
00:23The video quickly drew criticism online, not because of the legality or even just because
00:29of the obvious danger. People were gobsmacked that this particular influencer would play it so
00:34flippant with water safety because last year, her three-year-old son Trigg drowned in the family's
00:39backyard pool. In a lengthy statement, Kaiser admitted her son should have been wearing a
00:43life jacket for the entire boat ride. She wrote, quote, we are painfully aware that in a matter of
00:49seconds, your entire life can change and we should have done better. Kaiser also thanked followers for
00:53their concerns, saying the family will continue to learn from its mistakes while doing everything
00:57possible to keep their children safe.
