00:05is like my second home now i'm in here for the second time this week i like it in here
00:09filled with high school students uh from woodstown high school they are the winners of the 9 through
00:1412 division of our christmas choir competition which took a couple weeks for us to get the
00:19winners uh we had the uh the cute division as i called it uh earlier we had them in earlier this
00:25week uh the high school here now and they're getting ready to perform live but i'm here with
00:29um the president of the president the principal of the school mr senior and also the music director
00:34kalil gunther good morning kalil good morning we're just really so happy to be here this morning
00:38everyone's so excited and the kids get along so well together it's just exciting to get on a bus
00:42and in the rain and come sing for you tell me a little bit about the the process of how you guys
00:47went through um prepping for this submitting the song uh voting all of that stuff what your school
00:52did we went all in is what we did from the get-go we made a video of our performance just
00:58for a keepsake and also to get get it out there get the word out there to the public that we were
01:02doing this and we have such a great relationship with our community with our alumni with our
01:06school and even other schools in the area came came through for us that's great that's wonderful
01:11and you guys won five thousand dollars for your school's program uh i don't know principal if you
01:16know yet but do you know how you're going to use that money for the program um actually
01:20kalil and the kids are going to decide how they want to use it they haven't shared that with
01:23me just yet but i think they're still uh throwing around some ideas okay great and this whole um the
01:28the uh high school division was powered by verizon and we actually have um alexa lee who is here from
01:35verizon good morning alexa oh hi it's so great to be here i'm so excited this is definitely putting
01:39me in the christmas spirit you and you're like i love your outfit you look so cute this morning i had
01:44to show up for these kids this is a big deal and this is taking me back i actually was in an acapella
01:48group in high school way back in the day when dinosaurs roamed the earth so like this is super
01:52super exciting for me and personal and very special and so i just have the utmost respect for them
01:57i think maybe you should quickly learn the song and get up there with them give me like five minutes
02:02it's been it's been i'm i wasn't an alto i think i might be a tenor at this point
02:05so um just tell me a little bit about um like why this why you guys do this why does verizon do this
02:12with the high schools um we got you that's our main that's why we do everything our customers
02:18and our community are one in the same we the greater philly area is so incredible i mean we
02:24have the most amazing i feel like i'm i feel like i should just kick up a second residency down here
02:28i'm in philly all the time our partnership runs deeper than the schuylkill river and i just feel
02:34like this is so important to the community the arts are so important to the community and so that's
02:38what's important to verizon as well well we thank you for sponsoring it we really appreciate uh our
02:43partnership so thank you of course all right so they were the the kids were all getting ready when
02:49i walked in they were like jumping up and down and like wiggling their hands and their feet and all
02:52this i'm assuming this is like to wake up and get ready to perform right they always have a lot of
02:57energy and and they they feel nice and loose and ready to perform when they when they do perform

03:07morning on the kathy romano show so there's a couple of seniors i think in this group but two
03:12of them the uh president and vice president of the choir group this is brianna what do you do as
03:17the president of the choir group so i organize all these wonderful singers so i take them to events
03:23um basically the spokesperson too i help like do speeches and basically keep everyone in check
03:28it's a lot to handle even just having 29 singers there's a lot of us but we all have a lot of fun
03:33doing it how many seniors are in the group that's a good question okay everyone raise your hand if
03:37you're a senior okay oh all right so there's a good there's a this is a good amount um and then
03:41where's remy where oh come over here remy by the way i love that name uh remy is one of my favorite
03:48names i appreciate you i get it a lot uh so tell me you're graduating um what are you doing after
03:54high school i am going into music education so i i love what i do a lot so literally like two days
04:02before school started i was like i can't stay away from this so i want to inspire people for the
04:06rest of my life well that was my follow-up question was are you going to continue to sing
04:11so i guess the answer is yes yes most likely yes well congratulations to this whole group uh we're so
04:18glad that you came here and you uh you're the winners and that you performed live for us thank you
