00:00It is the Christmas Choir Competition here in the beautiful Kimmel Center.
00:04Bobby Smith, Sandra Sage, thank you so much from Hatfield. Thanks for joining us.
00:07Thanks for having me.
00:08Well, of course, thank you for being such a huge part of this.
00:10What does this mean to you and your company being such a part of this great cause that we do here?
00:15Well, at Hatfield, we are thrilled to be a sponsor of the B101 Christmas Choir.
00:20We've done it for five years. We look forward to this tradition.
00:24It's a great way for us to mutually come together and enrich the community.
00:29Is there any kind of personal connection that you have or anyone maybe at Hatfield that has with the wonderful Christmas Choir Competition?
00:35No, I would say just as we've done it, we've got more and more connected to it.
00:39We love watching the kids play and we love the dedication and the whole experience is pretty cool.
00:44I cry when I watch that video, just so you know.
00:47It's pretty awesome.
00:47It's pretty awesome when we announce that champion.
00:49Well, we can't thank you enough for what you do to help us make this possible because of you, we get to give this check.
00:54So thank you.
00:55And I'm going to work my way down the line, apparently.
00:57Here we go.
00:58Tim, hi, hi.
00:59Well, oh my gosh, I know.
01:01Is this the one and only choir director?
01:03This is the one and only, Angela Wertner, Choir Director, Notre Dame DeLourdes School.
01:07And I pronounced it right this time.
01:09DeLourdes School, yes.
01:10Yes.
01:10Well, thank you so much for everything you're doing.
01:12So tell me a little bit about the kids and how they get involved.
01:14And I think I was a little shocked when you told me about the amount of time they actually get to come and practice.
01:18Yes.
01:18So our choir is fifth through eighth grade and the kiddos come at recess, which is once a week.
01:25On Wednesdays, they come from about 12 to 1230.
01:28And then when it's, like, concert season, I have to, like, beg, borrow, and steal a few more hours to get us ready.
01:35But they're really hardworking.
01:37And they, even in that little amount of time, we can get a lot done.
01:39And we can make sure that in a few years, right, maybe we started about four years ago, they've come this far.
01:45So I'm really proud of them.
01:47So what does this $5,000 mean to the school and that program?
01:50Well, it's awesome because there's always things.
01:54I mean, we have a wonderful school.
01:55We have a thriving community.
01:56We have so many people that help us to be what we are.
02:01We've just launched a huge stream program, and we're trying to integrate music into that.
02:04So we're hoping to be able to purchase, you know, some equipment that we can record with or that we can start to teach them some music editing and things like that.
02:13But also just, you know, all the things that a Catholic school might need, new chairs, new choir folders, just to look even sharper than we already do.
02:20So things like that and more instruments for the little guys, all kinds of good stuff.
02:24That's great.
02:25Angela, thank you so much.
02:26And you guys for choosing this over recess.
02:29That is fantastic.
02:32You guys love it.
02:32Are you having a great time tonight?
02:33Yeah, absolutely.
02:34Yes?
02:34This is great.
02:35Family, this is great?
02:36Yes.
02:36Good.
02:37We can't thank you guys enough, and thank you, and congratulations again.
02:40I'm going to move right over here to this guy.
02:41This guy's my boss, just so you know, over here.
02:43Just so you know, this is him, David Yageroff, Senior Vice President of Odyssey right here in Philadelphia.
02:49What does this mean to you for the community and how we do this every year?
02:53So nothing's more important than giving back to the community.
02:56And, like, the local engagement that we have with all of the schools throughout the entire Christmas choir competition is so meaningful.
03:02But most important is when these schools win and they get the $5,000 and they get to give, you know, the investment into areas that they need because sometimes these arts programs are so forgotten.
03:13And whether it's meaningful equipment or outreach, et cetera, it makes us feel so good that our sponsors and us can give you this gift and reward the kids for all their hard work and help celebrate their accomplishments and their terrific talent.
03:26That's fantastic.
03:28And that is a big check, trying to go ahead and cash that.
03:31Be careful if you walk that in the bank.
03:32Oh, we have one more.
03:33One more right here.
03:34Well, I met you earlier today.
03:35How are you doing?
03:36I'm doing well.
03:37How are you?
03:38Thank you so much.
03:38We're so excited to be back with Philly Pops and be back with this.
03:41So what does this mean to you guys to have us back and everything back?
03:44I mean, it means so much to us.
03:46I mean, these kids at some point might be singing with us, right?
03:49So to be able to, you know, create that pipeline to our organization and to partner with B101, music is so important, right?
03:57And to be able to partnership is just very special for us, especially around the holidays.
04:01We love it, too.
04:01And we can't thank you guys enough for letting us be here.
04:03I mean, this is amazing tonight.
04:05This is great.
04:05Yes.
04:06Thank you for having it.
04:07Thank you for being here.
04:08This is great.
04:08Of course, this is our K through 8 division.
04:11And we're going to talk some more in a little bit for the high school division.
04:13We can't thank you enough.
04:14Hatfield, thank you so much.
04:15Anyone's arms tired right now?
04:17Everyone's arms are tired from holding the check.
