00:00challenge amigurumi good enough to eat hoping for his first big knitter badge
00:05Simon served a world-class fryer I've added extra depth in stitches but the
00:12team knit textured cardi caused controversy this isn't so loud this is
00:16all sudden it does still work resulting in a second big knitter badge for Holger
00:22thank you very much Isaac was on rocky ground there's quite a bit missing from
00:29the top here Lydia stumbled so a few textural issues it could have been knit
00:37but ultimately it was Tracy who was cast off from the competition now it's week
00:46six and time for our five remaining knitters to start standing out from the
00:50flock not something I usually have that much of a problem with it's statement
00:55week from Game of War welcome back to the yarn barn knitters you've made it to the
01:04final five I think you should give yourself a round of applause come on but
01:08that's enough it is a competition after all so this week is statement week it's
01:16time for your solo challenge and Dian Sheila would love for you to make some statement jewelry so a
01:26statement doesn't have to be big but it does have to be bold and exciting and original we are expecting
01:35two pieces a necklace and either a cuff or a bracelet that really work together you need to choose the best
01:45possible materials to create something new you have 10 hours for this one so let's get it in
01:54this challenge is about creating high-end handmade jewelry which makes a statement I don't think I
02:05haven't been anything like this before the judges have asked for a coordinated necklace and bracelet set
02:11using innovative materials think tiny needles think intricate stitches think absolute precision
02:19yeah I just managed to stick the sharp bit straight and in my finger I'd like to think that what I'm making is gonna make a
02:24statement at this stage in the competition is about thinking beyond
02:31traditional knitting and focusing on miniature details and unexpected materials to secure a place in the semi-final
02:38I would love to make it through to the semi-finals the standards are just so high so there's no telling
02:46what can happen first knitters must start with the necklace shaping their design to create the perfect fit
02:56and drape considering how beads wires or gems could enhance their piece next knitters must complete their
03:04bracelet or cuff ensuring a cohesive design across both pieces to create a dramatic set finally knitters
03:13should consider any fastenings across both elements they'll need both clever construction and striking design
03:20innovation to make these statement sets in just 10 hours
03:24so statement jewelry we are looking for balance between the cuff piece and the necklace carefully thought out is this impactful enough it will need to be very dramatic they've reached this far and now they need to really really work hard to get through all to play for all to play for
03:51so
03:54Lydia is kicking off with an intricate beaded necklace and after stumbling last week she's come back fighting
04:00the first thing I thought of incredible necklaces that they wear in Africa last week got to me a lot I was pretty sure I was going to be on the bottom the imposter syndrome does hit me quite hard but I'm here and I do really want to set that role model for not just my girls but for other young girls who just feel like this space isn't for them I'm backing myself this week
04:22Lydia's west African inspired necklace uses mosaic crochet to produce a stiff fabric giving structure
04:31to her choker she will then crochet a free-form lace collar beneath her matching cuff will also
04:37be made using mosaic crochet and the whole set will be threaded with tiny bead details she has chosen mercerized cotton for the set a yarn which has been chemically treated to make it stronger and shinier
04:51I've got this super tiny crochet needle it's a 0.6 millimeter needle
04:56Lydia is tackling the fiddly hook in bead method where you place the bead on a tiny hook pull a loop of yarn through it and then transfer the beaded loop back into your working hook to complete the stitch
05:10hold it as tight as possible just go through it's quite fiddly with the beads
05:20are you actually knitting in a bin bag yeah what
05:25in an absolutely classic Holger move he has made his own yarn for this challenge out of a bin liner
05:32I want to achieve a very specific look like a shimmer so I had to make my own little plastic yarn
05:38any fashion student and at some point in her life will have made something out of bin liners
05:44Holger's bin bag jewelry set is made up of a knitted collar and cuff using liners cut into strips to emulate
05:52the black gemstone jet often worn during victorian periods of mourning he plans to add a cotton lace trim
05:59to complete the statement look I guess if it all goes wrong it'll be easy to throw away afterwards
06:04Holger can I have a go yeah gosh it is weird to hold
06:12that the material it sticks to the needles it's hard to hold the correct tension I think I'm happy with
06:18what it does but do you consider this quite a big risk to kind of make a statement piece of jewelry
06:25is essentially trash yeah absolutely I'm thinking this is the part of the competition where you need
06:31to start taking risks you can try and coast through the first few stages by playing it safe but there's
06:36a point where but you can't get get away with that anymore it seems everyone is going for gold this week
06:44as Simon who came so close to securing his first sheet badge last week is also going bold with his
06:51material choice I am knitting wire this is a heart on the back of the neck are you making your jewelry
06:59for anyone in particular uh it's actually uh for my wife I think she deserves a bit of knitted jewelry
07:05after 17 long suffering years of Naomi I always maintained that it was love at first sight um
07:14um yeah I just I couldn't stop thinking about her so obviously I went back to a period of high stress
07:21she used to send me like gifts and letters and stuff out to Afghan we've been through a lot as a
07:26couple we've been through a lot my father was in the forces himself and his father was in the forces and
07:33my mum's dad was in the forces I just look back at it as life's path and it's kind of led me here to
07:38listen I would love to win it but there's a big competition but I will keep on going until the
07:46bitter end for his wife Vic Simon is knitting a statement of his love using wire to create a heart
07:55on the back and a sculpture centerpiece of the love hormone oxytocin to hang on the front he is planning
08:01to knit a matching wire cuff but engineering a chain for this statement wire necklace requires an
08:08unusual technique I'm doing some viking knitting viking knitting yeah wow what I'm doing is I'm
08:14creating a chain so I've got my crochet hook and then it's basically just then creating the knit
08:20stitch but just by threading the wire through down a crochet hook is this you throwing everything at
08:28it because you need to get a sheet badge here don't you if I go out and I haven't given it absolutely
08:32everything then I'll be beating myself up for a long time also working her way through the cord for
08:39her necklace is ailsa she has been inspired by home i'm inspired by the landscape of scotland when you
08:46get out of the city and you go up to the highlands off grid away from the world it's a beautiful place
08:54ailsa's homage to scotland is a traditional thistle inspired necklace made using classic eye cords her
09:04matching bracelet will be knitted using the same colors purple for the thistle and green to reflect
09:10the landscape of scotland like lydia she will be using mercerized cotton i'm using this cotton material
09:18because of the sheen that it has it might not be statement enough but this is definitely statement
09:25for me with two hours gone the knitters should be working their way through their necklaces
09:36whilst considering how to ensure the striking drama the judges are expecting
09:41how did you take to the beading the black thread is slightly thicker than the gold so it's slightly
09:50harder to get the bead on but yeah it's not too bad you can use them very discreetly but it adds that
09:57extra dimension doesn't it so from this are you going to do a freeform crochet yes i have a plan in my
10:05head but in terms of like how it comes together it is by eye the temptation is to go for the overall
10:15design and put all of your attention into that but think about the end process as well because it
10:22needs to sit beautifully on the mannequin yeah yeah statement that's the goal
10:28sporting his sheet badge from kids week isaac is finding this week's statement jewelry a little bit
10:40out of his comfort zone i was actually really struggling to come up with ideas for statement
10:44jewelry my girlfriend had the idea of like a daisy chain this is the best i've got i think it could
10:49work out really well without any kind of drawing or plan isaac is using freeform crochet to create a
10:57simple daisy chain necklace with a larger daisy pendant hanging from the middle his matching daisy
11:04chain bracelet will be in the same design and the whole set will be made from classic cotton yarn
11:10how are you going to make the chain so i'm going to be doing it directly onto the the daisies i'll be
11:14doing a daisy pendant as well right um just to add to that like statement feature because obviously a
11:20daisy chain itself it's not statement so just one daisy chain yes yep do you feel that this makes
11:29enough of a statement i'm hoping that with the pendant it will um i think a lot of your work is quite
11:36understated but very well engineered that's what i'm really looking for to take it out of being a
11:42simple daisy chain into something really special now i've got the bulk of my necklace done this needs
11:57jazzed up a bit and we have the main body which will have to trim on the outside my hands aren't
12:04designed for such a small crochet hook your hands are not designed for anything smaller than a sledgehammer
12:10right knitters you are halfway through your jewelry challenge that's five hours remaining
12:20with five hours remaining the knitters should all be finishing the body of their necklaces
12:25and adding any details to ensure drama and flair lydia has now completed her choker but she's
12:33determined to ensure the lace section hangs absolutely correctly joins and now it's time to make this lace
12:42sing blocking or steaming the lace will stretch and set the fabric adding definition to the piece
12:50i hope it's enough to keep me in the competition i need to do the bracelet now
12:55while lydia attempts to steam her necklace to victory simon has got a far more risky technique for his
13:03i'm just about to stretch the chain to make enough chain for my jewelry
13:08we've had to link so many bits of wire up together the danger is pulling it apart pulling your chain apart
13:17using a needle finder he is stretching out his viking knitting to create a chain
13:21but it could break at any moment god this is just literally fraught with danger it's all about mind
13:28over matter right so you don't know how far you can push yourself till you just take control of it
13:32in this competition when you're really up against the wire and just being able to still yourself and
13:36settle yourself down is really important you've got to live and die by your own decisions
13:40it's statement week and our knitters are in the final three hours of their solo challenge
13:59high-end high-impact jewelry we have the main body of the necklace wow oh my gosh
14:08i hate lucky enough it makes me feel so bad
14:13isaac has completed his daisy chain and is now making the daisy pendant
14:17i'm knitting the center of it and then crocheting the petals i'm slightly worried that it's maybe
14:23not statement enough i don't know
14:26and simon has successfully stretched out his chain and is now securing the wire centerpiece
14:35how are you feeling the chains works really well do you know what i just feel proud of what i've
14:39managed to achieve and it's so so different yeah just proud yeah i think you've aced it simon
14:45i mean i haven't seen the final thing all put together i've seen the different components
14:49and hearing about it like it's sick
14:55lydia has blocked her necklace but is unhappy with how the freeform lace section is sitting
15:02it's bunching up at the bottom a little bit because it's there's not enough chains
15:07so she is boldly unravelling some of it i'm gonna do these three rows and make them bigger
15:15i really want to make sure that this is as beautiful as possible
15:25in the final hour knitters should have moved on to their bracelets to ensure the matching set the
15:30judges have asked for my bracelet is a daisy chain it's made of four daisies initially i wanted to do
15:34it double wrapped i just don't think i'm gonna have time my pendant is taking me a little bit longer
15:38than i had anticipated the bracelet will be all black all black
15:44no pretence here um this is the after piece not an afterthought but this is the piece
15:52that makes me just a little anxious
15:56i want to see something really stunning can't wait to see that holger me too
16:02yes inspired by simon's viking knitting ailsa has decided to sneak some wire into her bracelet
16:10i've just made a wee metal circle to put in the middle of the bracelet just to give it a wee
16:17something to see how you've done that so neatly oh don't do metal don't do metal
16:24knitters 30 minutes to go 30 minutes to go 30 minutes to go 30 minutes to go people
16:31okay thank you i can't believe they gave you a tattoo for this
16:41holger how's the bracelet braceleting slowly but surely okay elsa just finished
16:47finishing off my bracelet jazzing up a wee bit simon's still viking knitting so you don't have
16:54a bracelet currently i don't have a bracelet currently but we are on it like a car bonnet
17:04so your necklace is done yep and you're working on your bracelet at this stage i just need to get the
17:09fastenings on so it actually works as a bracelet isaac there's your necklace with your pendant so what
17:15are you doing now i'm just making a few more daisies with the with the time i have left
17:22it's almost ready it's almost ready
17:27oh where did that go i just hit a couple of my ends
17:31knitters your time is up needles down nice well done guys exhausted
17:48that's five sets of unique statement jewelry in just 10 hours
17:52i haven't just sat back on my lols it's something completely different i'm trusting in myself for
18:00this one
18:04well done knitters that's five statement jewelry sets complete in just 10 hours but what do our beautiful
18:12bejazzled judges think holga if you'd like to come up
18:22we asked for an interesting use of material and you've certainly done that
18:26this really does work you get the sheen coming through and a surprising amount of different color
18:34yeah so this is the bracelet i've tried a hint of lace i'm glad to see that you have embellished
18:43this yeah more and created more drama in it
18:50what i feel is just slightly lacking this piece i'm not even sure i wouldn't put some white in as well
18:57okay having said all of that very well done with the plastic bin bags thank you in a statement
19:04and next up we have elsa
19:12it's a little bit of scotland really leaping out at you you have used mercerized cotton
19:20um there might have been more impactful yarns that you could have chosen
19:34so i also looking at the overall design now i've seen the bracelet what i would also really like to
19:40have seen is some of this heather color actually in one of these cords running through here so that
19:49you've got more interest in the color side of it and the drama then bringing them both together
19:56i actually love this work in the middle it makes me feel there's something missing here between the
20:03two yep okay simon if you'd like to come up please
20:07we really have to commend your your use of the materials yes i think this chain this is something
20:20you literally had a moment and you thought i know what i'm going to do and i'm going to learn how to do this
20:27of course there are a couple of little issues
20:35a little bit sticking out less keen on that as a finish i actually quite like the slightly rough edges
20:43because that's me like slightly rough around the edges
20:46this it's kind of very scientific but i'm not sure how impactful it is okay it somehow doesn't work
20:56with hearts so it doesn't feel quite married together up next isaac
21:02we asked for impactful and striking pretty though the daisy chains are i'm not sure that they have
21:19enough drama i am really relieved to see this once i come up with this concept i'd want to throw the rest
21:29out and start again this is over fussy and detract from the main event the main event okay you've not
21:41gone wild with your choices and materials certainly not no it's very restrained we wanted statement and
21:47impact it's just not got that impact that we're looking for yeah thank you very much isaac and next we have
21:57lidia you used your black and your gold cotton and some beads yeah what you created
22:17with that is very impressive yeah i think it's a great piece lydia thank you there's a real elegance
22:26to this and a real sense of proportion i think your freeform crochet has worked really well
22:35the bracelet
22:39i would like to wear that a piece of jewelry i'd reach for all the time
22:44thank you very much lydia thank you
22:46i am more gutted about that judging than than any of the others
22:56i was kind of struggling with the concept this week and i don't think that anything they had to
23:00say was unfair or unjust but i do think i might be in a bit of a dangerous position
23:03five knitted jewelry sets safely locked away in the knitted vault the knitters have one more chance to
23:16impress the judges and avoid the cast off for your group challenge di and sheila would love for you to make
23:24some statement lighting guys
23:33we would like you to make a very special one-of-a-kind lighting installation you will be using a linen yarn
23:41and working to a vintage lace pattern
23:45we want you to make five panels and each one will be the same and you will be attaching it to an incredible lampshade
23:58we will be judging your ability to follow a lace pattern and execute it perfectly
24:05well as you know by now this challenge is judged blind so i'm now going to ask dian sheila to leave the yarn barn
24:14although in this challenge you are all working on the same team each of your panels is going to be judged
24:20individually you have 10 hours your time starts now let's get knitting
24:25this challenge requires each knitter to knit 80 rows of lace a notoriously tricky technique
24:36which produces an open airy fabric while previously team challenges have tested both technique and
24:43design this challenge is solely about whether the knitters can execute a complex pattern flawlessly
24:50that looks ominous
24:56pineapple pattern is an exquisite lace design with origins in shetland which showcases two pineapple
25:02motifs linked with a central column but with over 5 000 stitches in total even one mistake could ruin the
25:09entire design
25:13first knitters must select their needles circular needles which are designed to hold more stitches
25:19or wooden straight needles which allow a better view of the stitches on your row
25:23you protect them both then people have the option whether they want to do circular or straight
25:30then they must each execute their own individual lace panel
25:37lastly they should steam to even out their stitch work before combining to create one bespoke and
25:42beautiful light feature difficulties with this challenge is you can't tell what's a purposeful hole
25:49and what's a an accidental one this challenge is by far the hardest team knit yet with every knitter
25:58needing to execute their panel to perfection in order for the challenge to be completed
26:02if yours stands out that it's not looking the same then you can you can effectively say goodbye to the
26:08competition can't you that's that's it
26:10it's that point in the program yeah we need to really challenge these knitters because we're looking
26:21for the best so why is lace knitting particularly challenging well lace is challenging because
26:29you're creating a series of holes you have to open that hole if you drop a stitch
26:38it can be a disaster because going back and actually establishing where your row is
26:47is really difficult a really important and focal part of this design is the center column
26:55it has to be straight no mistakes at all
26:58the knitters must each precisely follow the pattern in front of them but with 66 stitches on every row
27:09and 80 rows in total complete concentration is required winner of the big knitter back in week one
27:16ailsa has done lace before but not under these conditions so ailsa how do you feel 10 hours
27:23is is for you with a panel like this to be honest i don't really stress much but you're rushing over
27:31things that you wouldn't normally make six seven
27:38i haven't done lace for a while because obviously i've got young kids at home
27:42and it's harder to concentrate but despite not having practice recently
27:46lydia's lace impressed the judges back in week three in the swimwear challenge
27:51simon and isaac are the only two knitters who have never attempted lace before
27:56and what about you isaac how are you finding your first time doing lace i kind of thrive on having
28:02very direct instruction um so each row that i look at i'm like okay i can do that i can do that i can
28:09do that and then it's just sort of building yeah he's the furthest ahead he's never done it before
28:12oh you know hermione granger you what good for you
28:20i can see the wave yeah it's coming along but how can you see what you've done right and what
28:25you've done wrong i can't because i've never done lace before okay i i won't be able to tell you
28:30if that's right or wrong holger is the only knitter who has chosen straight needles for his panel
28:39what was the decision behind using your straight needles i can't cope with the fact i mean the
28:43the needle part is only that long and the minute it the minute the stitches fall onto this bit they
28:48kind of clump up and then the straight needles they're all kind of on the same thickness it makes
28:53it a little bit easier but lydia is struggling to keep track of her stitches with the circular needles
29:00i've made a mistake and i'm trying to find where i've dropped my stitches i don't know where i am
29:07because i can't see because my lead look it's just like they just get stuck and then they don't move
29:15onto the needle that's my problem
29:17a few hours into the challenge knitters should be well into their lace panels and to avoid having
29:29to pull out mistakes some of the knitters are using an old trick the lifeline right now i'm just about
29:36to insert my first lifeline i'm literally just going through every stitch that's on
29:40the needle and it just it stops it so if you're ripping back you can't rip back any further than
29:46the lifeline isaac holger and ailsa are all putting in lifelines regularly stopping for five minutes to
29:54add each one it's just a bit of insurance if things go wrong but simon and lydia are going rogue
30:01knitting without lifelines i might get a bit scared off later on and stick one in but i'm just gonna i'm
30:07just gonna go just gonna go for it you've got to count every stitch every stitch counts it's that
30:12simple because if you make a mistake it's gonna be glare in the office let me just check my knit bit
30:20a second oh you're halfway through the challenge and my current resting stitch count is 66 oh same yeah good
30:32with five hours gone the knitters should be hitting the halfway point in their 80 row pattern
30:37so i'm on row 48 i'm on row 36 not as far as i'd like to be i'm on row 37 i'm not as far as some
30:46people but lydia is still struggling to fix the mistake she made earlier if this row count isn't right
30:53i actually i'm gonna give up
31:02okay
31:04four six 58 60 no she's missing a stitch
31:19it's also incredibly hard with the intricate details that are in this lace work to find
31:24yeah one stitch one stitch is a mistake it's just that extra added pressure and i think lydia is the
31:29type of person that holds pressure on herself because she's so keen to do well and the thing
31:32is i've been where she is right now you know where you feel like you're not going to be able to recover
31:36but you know you make it through don't you
31:38the problem i'm having is with my stitches getting stuck on my needle i don't know if i'm just going
31:50to switch to these straight seven millimeter needles so i can actually see my work and move it up and down
31:56my gauge might be off but then at least i'd have a finished piece of work but i don't have a lot of
32:01i don't have a lot of time um and i'm not even halfway through the chart so
32:12and i don't know what i'm crying mate on this day i'm not with my
32:15the knitters are in the final stages of their most technical team knit
32:32yet lace lighting having struggled to keep track of the required 66 stitches per row
32:39lydia is hoping different needles will make a difference
32:44how you do it mate well here we are so i have counted yeah you are on 65 but just get to a point
32:54throw yarn over in and just carry on thank you honestly that's all holger's been doing i think
33:01that's the way to approach this otherwise you're gonna you're gonna make yourself crazy also if holger
33:07can literally stitch a jump roll back to front and still come first if you've just chucked a yarn
33:14i've written there mate chances are you're still gonna come first do you know what i mean you've got
33:19this thanks for making this all about me again it's hard to be away i spend a lot of my time not seeing
33:26my kids yeah it's hard because they're at the age where you know they do new things all the time and
33:32they're really funny but i know i've got my whole family behind me i think they'll be really proud of
33:39me simon's suggestion of adding a yarn over means there will be an extra unplanned hole in the panel
33:46but the stitch count will be correct now i've got 66 so hey i've got the right amount of stitches
33:53yeah it's fine i stay calm for the most part
34:06with two hours remaining knitters should be nearing the end of the panel and leaving time to steam their
34:11stitches i am on row 56 i like clear instructions so i think that's kind of worked in my favor
34:19but simon has discovered he no longer has the 66 stitches required per row
34:28i had to rip back about 10 rows obviously i was attempting to do it without a lifeline
34:32i'll be lucky if i get it finished
34:37while simon was helping previously and trying to get lydia back on track simon has found himself with
34:42mistakes and has had to rip back rows and rows of work and now he's there's no way he's going to finish
34:49this is you have one hour to go
35:00in the final hour knitters should be steaming their lace work and then fitting it to the frame so this
35:07is what your work is going to be sewn to 10 hours of blood sweat and tears for a lovely lampshade
35:14lace novice is first to complete the pattern
35:23look at that laces is crazy because it looks like a mess but obviously once it's stretched out to this
35:28size it will look good holger is next to hit the haberdashery there is a one glaring mistake here where
35:37this doesn't perfectly line up right i'm just going to go block and despite her earlier concerns lydia's
35:46lace panel is also complete i could not tell you how the heck i got here but ails and simon are still knitting
35:55yes it's not going to be finished
36:10i'm going to just try and sew it as best as i can onto the frame
36:16i'm going to help simon i can show the bottom while you cast up
36:19i want it stretched right out on the panel
36:27beautiful
36:32knitters your time is up
36:37done good effort team
36:40hey it's done it's done you've done it and it's on there
36:42it might have been our most tense team knit yet but that's one bespoke lace-like feature complete
36:50in just 10 hours i was going to cut it up throw it across the room and walk out the barn
36:57i just kept on going i hope the judges are kind but if not then you gotta take it off the chin
37:02well done knitters what a lovely little lace number you've created that was quite the challenge
37:12wasn't it let's welcome the judges back hello oh my goodness
37:30very impressive isn't it just wild i love it absolutely love it it's bringing out
37:36the character and the skill of each individual and i think we should start looking at the stitches
37:45time to turn down the lights and get up close and personal with those stitches absolutely are you
37:50ready yes okay let there be no light
38:06in shetland the women when they were making their lace they would hold up their lace panels
38:12in front of the fire so they could see their stitches and check their pattern there is nowhere to hide
38:20the first frame in the spotlight is isaacs
38:26on this panel we can see some really lovely stitch work at the top
38:30very open it's it's sometimes difficult to achieve the balance and evenness when the stitches are so open
38:42the knitter's aim was to achieve the texture of the pineapple this knitter has achieved that really
38:50well i can see very few mistakes in this next up is holger
39:03the columns on either side are nice and neat that has worked yes it has the center panels it's not 100
39:11100 straight you can really see how one row can impact the design panel number three is ailsa's
39:25in this lovely top of the pineapple we can see quite a few errors
39:36over here and here we've not got that lovely even open work line and stitches this whole top section
39:48is really not great there is still a column problem just here it goes awry
40:00the next panel is lydia's
40:05at the top we've got a very nice very even top section
40:09doesn't look too bad top and bottom but there's definitely something that happens
40:18yes just when the two center panels are at their closest things went a bit haywire in the middle
40:30last is simon
40:35this panel isn't finished
40:39this doesn't sit exactly where it should something went wrong round about here and
40:48that sort of knocked everything off balance
40:55i think this is quite an irregular panel and hasn't got the integrity that you would like to see yeah
41:05okay should we turn the lights back on yay so diane sheila have you come to a decision we have
41:17in fifth place is this panel here in fourth place is this panel lydia in third place this panel
41:29isaac congratulations you followed the pattern incredibly carefully well done very well done well
41:49well constitulations isaac now it's time for diane sheila to deliberate before the final knitting circle
41:58one thing that this competition has taught me is that i can do way more than i think i can
42:03it's my first time knitting lace and right up until about three hours ago i was like no we're getting
42:09this done we're not going to be bottom we're doing it and then suddenly it all changes on a on a dime
42:17it does get tougher every week um one because the standards are higher and two because there's so
42:24few of you a cast off feels a lot more heavy someone's going into the barn for the last time
42:29who's impressed you this week holger
42:40his individual piece fulfilled a brief his lace panel a couple of tiny mistakes but overall a very good
42:49week for holger yeah lydia
42:53i think for the first time i can say there is not a mistake this is a beautiful piece both technically
43:04and in design terms is very striking and on the flip side of that he's in danger this week simon
43:13simon decided to throw his all and a solo challenge took up viking knitting it was very very complex
43:23and he'd never done this before he had never done lace before and that didn't quite work out as
43:28well did it ailsa her jewelry piece was lacking were you expecting her to be better in the lighting
43:40panel i really was i was really quite surprised this is a space in the semi-final of game of war so
43:48this isn't an easy decision to make especially when the standard has been so incredibly high
43:53i'd hate to be you too i hate being me too as well
44:02knitters well done this week you made quite the statement in your lacy lighting and your bold and
44:08unique jewelry sets but as we knit our way through this competition it gets harder and harder to choose
44:14who the big knitter is as well as the person being cast off so dine sheila
44:21the person that's most impressed us they came through with the most extraordinary
44:29solo statement piece of jewelry it's the first time
44:34first time to be first time i felt it's something's perfect so the big knitter this week is
44:42lydia oh lydia oh i won't give you a hug thank you
45:00here's your sheep badge thank you congratulations
45:06but sadly we still do have to lose someone in the competition the person being cast off this week is
45:15so
45:24simon
45:27give us a hug simon
45:30thank you so much
45:32we've done so much thank you
45:35breaking all the stereotypes and that's what we like
45:38this sheep almost means way more than the other one i'm very shocked and very happy
45:45you've been an absolute star really lovely too happy with us always being a game of war has been
45:50stressful and emotional massive highs and lows but hopefully it just shows that everyone can knit
45:57i'm not dead
46:05next time it's the semi-final as we transform charity knits into catwalk couture have you ever made a
46:13dress fit for the catwalk before never made a dress before i've made anything fit for a catwalk
46:17and reinvent rags into bags you can definitely feel the tension in the air
46:27so
46:38you
