00:00Because we are professional teachers.
00:03We are paid to teach, and it's a profession.
00:06And as any other profession, it needs constant developers.
00:13Today is the Education Day of the Electrical Engineering Department,
00:17and it's all about coming together.
00:21Meeting your colleagues, meeting the students,
00:23discussing, celebrating education.
00:25We will first start with some highlights and updates
00:30of the last academic year.
00:32We will feature a keynote debate on AI in education,
00:36and in the afternoon we will have several workshops, tutorials,
00:39and discussion sessions to bring us all together
00:42and try to find consensus.
00:50And even your team is using it to create this opening speech
00:54and so everyone around is already using AI.
01:00I think the added value of workshops during the Education Days
01:02is the interaction between the presenters and the audience.
01:05For example, in our case, we had a workshop
01:07where we did an exercise where the audience made an exercise
01:11and we checked it using AI.
01:13And that really set up the discussion for
01:15how do we deal with AI in education,
01:17and then you get a lot of back and forth
01:19between the audience and the presenters.
01:21And that's also something we learn from
01:22because we're not experts.
01:24So I think together you can learn a lot from each other
01:26on the views on AI.
01:27Education Day is important because it's about education.
01:30And education is the most important thing we do at the university.
01:34Think of this.
01:35If you ask a random person on the street
01:37and you point at the TUI building
01:39and you ask them what is that thing?
01:41What are people doing there?
01:43They will answer one thing.
01:44They will say they are training the engineers for the future.
01:47They are educating people.
01:49It's our role, number one role in the society.
01:52Of course, we also do research,
01:54but education is arguably the most important thing.
02:00Let me go to the question of the third here.
02:02It's taught by Karmel Ziboran.
02:04I think this is for the course and not for me.
02:13There are more people involved
02:15and I would like to extend this to all of them
02:17that were involved in the course.
02:20Thank you very much.
