00:00My name is Anelis and I have a studio called Studio Valkomant.
00:04We work on a better internet.
00:06What you see behind me is ApathOS.
00:08That is an installation where we,
00:10how social media algorithms work,
00:12taskbar make.
00:14I see a lot of phones behind me.
00:16They all have their own persona
00:18with a feed.
00:20This data is taken up,
00:22which you see in the middle of the algorithm.
00:24This data is used to use
00:26a new set of posts to them.
00:28What is the most important thing in this installation is
00:30that you can make a difference
00:32in how a algorithm works.
00:34We have different tastes on the basis of likes
00:36and on the basis of the look.
00:38And on which content is well or not
00:40to be established.
00:42And on the basis of this, when you make these choices,
00:44you can make that algorithm a bit
00:46and change the ecosystem.
00:48With what they see and how
00:50they experience these things.
00:52One of the things that we have made this installation
00:54is that you can have the numbers,
00:56the numbers, the visualizations,
00:58what everyone sees.
00:59But you don't see how
01:00the person
01:01after that scherm
01:02over time
01:03changes.
01:04And that is what we would like
01:05a discussion about.
01:06Social media algorithms
01:08influence the world's world
01:09of people.
01:10And that has an individual
01:11but not as good for the
01:12community.
01:13But an algorithm is
01:14ultimately
01:15by someone.
01:16So as it is by someone
01:17by someone,
01:18it means that we can
01:19it differently.
01:20How would it look like
01:21how would it look like
01:22if you have an algorithm
01:23that you can improve
01:25and how would it improve
01:26for the community.
01:27And that's it.
