00:00Ombudsman Boying Remulya leads the Philippine delegation to the biennial high-level session of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption.
00:08Remulya says in his speech during the 11th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the UNCAC,
00:14Corruption affects public safety, economic growth, and democratic trust. No country can address corruption alone.
00:21We welcome deeper cooperation in asset recovery, procurement transparency, information sharing, and countering cross-border and technology-enabled corruption.
00:34As the flood control corruption scandal continues to erode public trust, Remulya tells Rappler the conference offers a chance to coordinate with other countries where fugitives may hide.
00:44He says one of them is Zaldi Ko, who was recently declared a fugitive from justice by the Sandigan Bayan.
00:49But Remulya also said there are still others who will escape, adding quote,
00:53That's why you should look forward to that scenario. If we go here, that's our strategy.
00:58COSP 11 brings together representatives of 192 governments that ratify the UNCAC,
01:03anti-corruption advocates from civil society, media, and the private sector.
