00:00I love you, but you are not serious people.
00:05The fourth and final season of Succession kicked off with the HBO show's biggest first-night audience to date.
00:11According to Nielsen and first-party streaming data from HBO, Sunday's season 4 premiere drew 2.3 million cross-platform viewers.
00:19That's the biggest tune-in for the show ever, passing the 1.7 million viewers who tuned in for the season 3 finale in December 2021.
00:26It's also a 62% improvement on the season 3 premiere's 1.4 million viewers, which was then a series' best.
00:33The third season averaged 7.2 million viewers over the course of its run,
00:37as HBO's cumulative figures for series are measured for 90 days after a season premiere.
00:42I'm not authorized to let you take off.
00:45It's dad. You know, in Buddhism, sometimes your greatest tormentor can also be your most perceptive teacher.
00:50Hey, Buddha, nice Tom Forbes.
00:52The Emmy-winning series also pulled in a bigger first-night audience than that of season 2 of The White Lotus,
00:57which brought in 1.5 million viewers and went on to average better than 10 million viewers per episode.
01:03It's worth noting Succession wasn't the only premium cable show to have a very good weekend.
01:07The season 2 premiere of Yellow Jackets on Showtime also hit a series high, with about 2 million cross-platform viewers.
