03:04Well, good morning, friends. Hey, sorry about that. I was a minute late there.
03:22Hey, thanks for joining my podcast. It's Sunday morning. I'm back.
03:26It's sure nice seeing you folks. No question about that.
03:32This is Brother Mike. I am the counselor at the Arizona Deliverance Center. We're downtown on 15th Avenue, just south of Osborne Road in downtown Phoenix area.
03:43It's a red brick building if you're ever traveling over there. And I've got an unusual Bible study for you today. Some painful information. I really don't want to have to do this Bible study. But unfortunately, it's another wave of strange apostasy sweeping the country. This thing's gotten weird.
04:05Please remember we have two live services every week at the Arizona Deliverance Center, Thursday and Friday nights at seven o'clock. And we have three Zoom services Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. If you send me an email, Mike at HardcoreChristianity.com.
04:23I'll send you all the information for the services. And if you happen to live in the Phoenix area or you're going to be visiting, we do have a counseling center. You can get on the schedule for counseling services. If you have no insurance or no money, you've got no problem with us. 602-636-5800. And here we go.
04:53What in the H-E-L-L is going on. There's a new wave of apostasy sweeping through the church. Now it's controversies over hell. Controversies over hell. And I hate going over this material because, you know, it's not the most pleasant subject to go over.
05:17Hell, hell. And it's a tough one. But let me give you the basics on it. There's three different views of hell. There's the eternal conscious torment version where someone dies unsaved. They go to hell and they're there in torment for eternity and they never get out.
05:45And it's awful. The second view of it is annihilationism. Okay. And this is a belief that wicked people are, they die here and they just cease to exist forever. Like a cockroach.
06:05Like if you step on a cockroach and it's dead, it doesn't go to heaven or hell. It doesn't go into the spirit world. It's gone. It doesn't exist. It's annihilated.
06:13The third one is the concept of universalism where the person goes to hell, but it's only temporary. They have a period of, it's almost kind of similar to purgatory among Catholics.
06:31But it's a temporary suffering until all of creation is finally reconciled at the end of Revelation and, you know, everybody's fine after that. No problemo.
06:49Right. And there's a big controversy over which of these things is correct.
06:57And it started about a week or two ago. A guy named Kirk Cameron made a statement on YouTube and it went viral. It went viral.
07:15He was explaining that he was raised and he was taught the concept of, of that hell was eternal, eternal punishment.
07:27And when someone went to hell, they spent eternity, a separator for God and punished for their sins and that the fires of hell were real. That's what he was taught.
07:38But then gradually he was taught, uh, some other doctrines that finally, you know, overcame him.
07:46And he believed, he believed in, um, the third option I just gave you, whereas someone goes to hell temporarily, they're punished and then they're restored.
07:57And so when a guy named Ray Comfort heard about the video, he watched it, uh, he got all concerned and he did a video explaining that Kirk Cameron used to be a part of his ministry, but he hadn't been in 10 years.
08:16And that, um, um, um, um, Ray Comfort's ministry believes in the first option I gave you, which was eternal torment in hell.
08:33And the person is never restored once they go to hell.
08:36So, and again, I apologize for having to go over the subject.
08:39And this is, uh, um, not a good subject to have to go over on a podcast, but the, the, the, uh, concept of it is very serious and it's causing a lot of controversy.
08:49So I wanted to fix it for you today and give you the actual, uh, you know, lowdown on, on hell.
08:59Um, there's, there's four biblical words for hell.
09:06Cheol is Hebrew.
09:09And that was, uh, the term that meant, that meant, uh, the underworld or the hidden world of departed spirits.
09:16Cheol.
09:17And that term is used, for example, when, uh, Jonah died in the belly of the whale, the Bible says in hell, he lifted up his eyes.
09:27Cheol.
09:29And then it says the Greek word is Hades.
09:34Hades, or in English, they pronounce it Hades.
09:37Uh, Hades is the same as Sheol.
09:41Okay.
09:42And then the other two terms for hell are, uh, Gehenna, or in English it's pronounced, uh, Gehenna.
09:51And technically that means is the term that described the Valley of Hinnom, but at the Valley of Hinnom in, in, in the New Testament was a valley that was a section of the, of outside of Jerusalem that was a city dump.
10:07And there were constant fires in the Valley of Hinnom, 24, seven, there was always fires going on with people burning their trash, the garbage.
10:19And so Jesus and the Bible uses that word Gehenna to just kind of illustrate in your imagination what hell is like.
10:30It's a place of, that's always on fire.
10:33It's a dump.
10:34It's a rattle, uh, that's, that's constantly cooking is the concept of it.
10:43And in the, uh, New Testament, the lake of fire is what is used to, um, interpret Gehenna.
10:54And then the last one is, is found in second Peter, uh, Tartarus, Tartarus was a special place in hell, almost like a special room or an area where all the fallen angels were imprisoned in hell.
11:12And where all of the Nephilim that died before King David, they all went to hell, Tartarus.
11:22So that's kind of the nuts and bolts of it.
11:28Um, I know this is a very odd, odd situation here, but, uh, I need to clear this up so that people understand what the total concept of, of hell is because most people like Kirk Cameron never bothered to look it up for themselves.
11:46They just got taught this from somebody else and they just accepted the pains of somebody else and you, and you can't do that.
11:54You have to, you have to look it up for yourself.
11:57Now, let me give you a couple of examples here.
11:59Take a look at Matthew chapter, um, 25, verse 41.
12:10Just a quick example.
12:12You remember this story in Matthew 25, Jesus was explaining, uh, what the true church is really like.
12:20And Jesus said, look, if you do something for these people over here in the name of the Lord, you don't lose your reward and, and in eternity, you go into eternal life or heaven.
12:36Then he says, these people over here, if you didn't help any of these people out, it was the same as not helping me out.
12:47If you do help them out, if you are a blessing to them as a, as a born again, Christian.
12:53Now, remember, he's talking to Christians here.
12:55He says, if you do do that, then you are, are blessed and you will have eternal life.
13:02And you're on my right hand.
13:06That's where Jesus is in heaven at the right hand of the father.
13:11But the people on the left hand, he says in verse 44, listen to this.
13:15Then he shall say to them that are on the left hand, depart from me.
13:21You cursed into everlasting fire prepared for the devil.
13:28And his angels.
13:32Okay.
13:33This is an indirect relation, uh, reference to Tartarus in hell where fallen angels are tormented and the Nephilim, they're all tormented down there because of the horrible sins they committed on the earth.
13:47Now, this Greek word for everlasting here is Ionius and the root of that is Ion, which means age, but sometimes it's mistranslated in the King James Bible as world.
14:03But it's actually the word age, Ion, and Ionius is translated as everlasting or eternal, which means age after age, after age, after age.
14:16The concept is if something is everlasting or eternal, it never ends.
14:22For example, there's two places for you to go after you die.
14:26You'll only go to one of two places.
14:28You'll go to heaven or you'll go to hell.
14:31Now, the Bible teaches there's only two places.
14:34You don't go to any, any other place.
14:37Okay.
14:38This Greek word Ionius.
14:41Eternity or eternal is used to describe both places.
14:47Heaven and hell.
14:49If hell is temporary, then heaven is also temporary because the same Greek word Ionius is used to describe heaven.
15:01The two of them.
15:01And then in verse 46 in the same chapter, Matthew 25, Jesus says to the people on the left, hey, these are going away to everlasting punishment.
15:14But the righteous, but the righteous into life eternal.
15:25Same Greek word Ionius in both words, but it was translated differently.
15:31Differently, everlasting and eternal in the same verse in the King James Bible.
15:36It was two words were used to describe the same Greek word.
15:40Ionius.
15:42Age after age after age.
15:44Eternity.
15:46Eternity.
15:46And so what, what the Bible is actually saying is, hey, guess what?
15:57Eternal and everlasting are English words, but they're used to describe the same Greek word, which means never ending.
16:08Nothing ever ends.
16:10Nothing ends.
16:14All right.
16:14Now, check this out.
16:16In Jude, Jude, verse seven, I want you to take a look at this verse.
16:21It's kind of interesting.
16:24Here, Jude or Judah is his name in Hebrew, right?
16:29This is, this is Jesus' half brother here.
16:31He says in verse seven, even as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around about them in like manner gave themselves over to fornication.
16:44Now, real quickly, fornication is the Greek word pornea.
16:51Adultery is the Greek word moikia.
16:54Pornia is defined as any type of sexual sin.
17:03It could be anything.
17:06Kitty porn, regular porn, lesbianism, gay, bestiality, sex, same sex, sex, animal sex, heterosexual sex.
17:22Porn sex, porn sex, phone sex.
17:29I don't know.
17:29I'm tired.
17:30Let me, I'm tired of going over that list.
17:33Any form of sexual sin is pornea.
17:41Moikia is the Greek word in the New Testament used for adultery.
17:45And that only means heterosexual sex.
17:49That only means heterosexual sex.
17:54So, for example, if I slept with a woman and we were not married, that would be considered both pornea and moikia.
18:13I would be having heterosexual sex with a female.
18:18If I had sex with a man, that would not be moikia or adultery.
18:26That would be pornea or fornication.
18:31Fornication.
18:33See the difference?
18:34For example, the pie is fornication, pornea.
18:39A piece of the pie is heterosexual adultery, animal sex, bestiality, lesbianism.
18:50They're pieces of the big pie, which is pornea, fornication.
18:56But in this verse, verse 7 in Jude, the Greek word is ekporneum.
19:03Ekporneum is the Greek verb that means that you have totally and completely surrendered to fornication.
19:16Translation is an extremely serious, sick form of fornication.
19:25Ekporneum.
19:25And then it says they went after strange flesh.
19:32Greek word is heteros, different flesh.
19:35They are set forth as an example.
19:41As an example.
19:44Suffering.
19:47The vengeance of eternal.
19:50Same Greek word, ionios.
19:52Everlasting.
19:53Age after age after age.
19:55Eternal fire.
19:56Eternal fire.
19:57Greek word, poor.
19:59Poor means fire like you would light a cigarette, a campfire, whatever fire is.
20:05The Valley of Hinnom was always on fire.
20:07There was always fires burning outside of Jerusalem because that was the city dump.
20:11Vengeance here means decay is a Greek word and it means to bring justice upon someone for crimes or sins or violations.
20:24For example, Charles Manson brainwashed a bunch of women and men, convinced them to go commit mass murder.
20:35And he was actually sentenced to death, but California overturned the death penalty, so he went to life in prison with no parole.
20:55Eternal.
20:56Now, you see, you see, you see, you see, you see the words used here, eternal, that is the same Greek word used that I mentioned earlier, eternal, everlasting, never ending.
21:11It never ends.
21:14So, here's the point.
21:17If I use the same Greek word for hattus or hell that I'm using for heaven or anas, if I use the same Greek word, ionios, that means they're both the same in their duration.
21:43They, they, they last forever, ever, ever, ever, ever.
21:48So, if you look clearly at the end of Revelation, you can clearly see the devil's in trouble, isn't he?
22:07Man, that's for sure.
22:09However, the Bible teaches that at the end of the millennial, which is also ion, age, the age of millennium is the way the Bible translates it.
22:23In verse 10, the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are.
22:32And they will be tormented, and they will be tormented day and night, forever and ever, ion, ice ion, into eternity.
22:52I hope you can see my point here.
22:58The point is that the devil himself, who is responsible for the death of the entire human race.
23:09How many people have lived on the earth since Adam and Eve?
23:12Well, I don't know, but I read one report that said they thought it was, 40 billion people had died since Adam and Eve.
23:24Is that an accurate statement?
23:27I don't know.
23:28I have no idea.
23:29It could be 40 billion or what, it could be a trillion.
23:32I don't know how many people have been on the earth, but the point is, the devil murdered every single one of them.
23:40He killed everyone by tricking Eve and by tempting Adam to willfully and deliberately disobey God.
23:53We all died.
23:55Everybody dies.
23:57Here, physically, physically, everybody dies.
24:01And that is the last curse, the Bible teaches, that will be lifted off humanity during the millennial and into eternity,
24:13is that people are not going to die anymore that are living on the earth.
24:17That has nothing to do with us, because you and I are going to go on the rapture,
24:22and we will have new, immortal, supernatural bodies like Jesus's,
24:27and we will be serving the Lord forever.
24:31On the earth, living in the new Jerusalem, on the earth.
24:37If you die now, heaven is only your temporary home.
24:40You're coming back with Christ at the second coming.
24:43He established his world order, and he takes over the planet earth.
24:49He is now in charge, and you, you are his servant, and you will be serving him during the millennium.
24:56Now, I remind you that it's important that you make major changes in your life right now
25:01so that you can have a greater service blessing in the millennium and then into eternity,
25:10because the Bible clearly teaches that what you do now determines your rewards in eternity.
25:18So if you happen to be an investor, and I used to be a huge investor in my finances,
25:27I don't care about it anymore, but before I got into the ministry decades ago,
25:32I was, you know, huge into investments.
25:35At that time, I was a millionaire, and investments were very important to me.
25:39Well, guess what?
25:41You're making an eternal investment in, eternal investment in your life.
25:51Now, as you serve God, because even if you give a cup of cold water to someone in the mighty name
25:57of Jesus, you will not lose your reward.
26:01Those are the words of the living Christ.
26:03That's an exact quote.
26:05He said that.
26:06So if you do something little for the Lord, if you do something big for him,
26:10it doesn't matter if you do it with a good heart, a right heart, a worshipful heart.
26:14If you do it for the right reasons, not like these phony TV preachers
26:18who are just walking bags of crotch rot.
26:21These people lie all the time, and they're only in it for the money,
26:24and they got mansions, jets, limousines, Rolls Royces.
26:29That is a whoredom version of Christianity.
26:32That's just, I'm talking about you.
26:38You are not a whore.
26:41You are not a fraud.
26:44Let me remind you, please, every little thing you do for the Lord now is stored away in eternity.
26:51The Bible calls it the Lamb's Book of Life.
26:54Everything you do and say is written down in the Lamb's Book of Life.
26:57There it is.
26:57It's all written down, and your rewards, as Paul explained to the Corinthians,
27:02are in eternity, and you're going to be an incredibly, incredibly,
27:08incredibly, fantastically wealthy person in eternity.
27:15In eternity.
27:18See?
27:18So, like Jesus said, yes, you store up your treasures in heaven,
27:23not here on this earth.
27:25Not here on this earth.
27:29Okay?
27:30So, Kurt Cameron doesn't understand the Bible.
27:35He's a great guy, and he's had some fantastic ministry.
27:42He's done a really good job.
27:45He's really a great person.
27:47Very likable man.
27:48Very sincere.
27:50Kurt Cameron's a very sincere person.
27:52I got all kinds of good things to say about Kurt Cameron.
27:56But, unfortunately, the devil got this one past him.
27:59He told him, listen, just receive the information from someone you respect.
28:07And then you can believe it.
28:09And so, the devil sent him people with itching ears, and they got in there,
28:14and they told him, look, that's not the character of God.
28:17God is a merciful, compassionate person.
28:21He would never send somebody, to use Kurt Cameron's term, a barbecue.
28:25He called it a barbecue.
28:27God would never barbecue somebody for eternity.
28:31That's ridiculous.
28:32That's not going to happen.
28:33You know that God doesn't have that kind of heart.
28:36He can't do that.
28:37Well, see, Kurt doesn't understand.
28:39He never looked it up for himself.
28:40He doesn't understand what the text says.
28:43He doesn't understand what the Bible says.
28:45I do understand what it says.
28:47That's why I wanted to share it with you today.
28:50I didn't want to really do this Bible study.
28:52It's not a topic that I'm all that interested in.
28:56It's enormously depressing, thinking about people dying and going to hell and being tormented.
29:03I mean, gosh, that's not a fun day for me.
29:08But you cannot argue what the text says.
29:14You can't do that.
29:15If the Bible says that heaven is eternal, that means heaven is eternal.
29:22The Bible says that the earth is eternal.
29:25Did you know that?
29:26Of course you did.
29:27The earth never goes away.
29:30It's eternal.
29:31Same Greek word.
29:32Ionius.
29:34Same Greek words.
29:35Ion.
29:36Ion.
29:36It's eternal.
29:37The planet earth that you're on top of right now is going to be here forever.
29:45The universe that God created, the heavens, is eternal.
29:54They never go away.
29:56They never go away.
29:58Now, the King James Bible mistranslated that verse and said, Jesus said, heaven and earth
30:06shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
30:09What that really means should have been translated correctly.
30:14Ionius.
30:14Ionius is the Greek word.
30:16It means the heaven and earth will pass away.
30:19They will change from one state to another.
30:22But my words, Jesus said, will never change from one state to another.
30:31See?
30:34The earth is going to be renovated by fire and renewed because, obviously, the planet earth
30:41man living here turned it into a gigantic toilet.
30:44But God renovates everything in heaven and in earth, the Bible says, in eternity, and you
30:52are going to live on the earth, in the new Jerusalem, in a perfect world.
31:00Unbelievable.
31:01The way Eden was in the beginning will now be the whole planet, and there will be civilizations
31:08living on the planet for eternity.
31:10You and I will be serving God in some capacity, hopefully in eternity, and it is eternal, Ionius.
31:21It never ends.
31:25Hell is eternal.
31:28It never ends.
31:30Because the same Greek words used to describe heaven are the ones that describe hell.
31:37And it is a place of sorrow, sadness, and torment.
31:43I'll leave you with this.
31:45The rich man in Lazarus was not a parable because in that story Jesus told, someone's personal
31:53name was used, a guy named Lazarus.
31:56In a parable, the Greek word is parabolae.
31:59It's a made-up story.
32:03Nobody's names are used.
32:04Everybody's anonymous.
32:05It's just a story Jesus made up, illustrating an important spiritual truth.
32:12Parables are very important because they're stories created by Jesus in his imagination, illustrating
32:21a spiritual truth.
32:25That's the benefit of a parable, a parabolae.
32:29The Lazarus story was not a parable.
32:32It was an actual event.
32:34This poor beggar had sat outside this guy's house, him and his five brothers, and they
32:40all just stepped over him.
32:42Nobody would help him, and they all had money.
32:44They had means to help him, but they wouldn't.
32:46That's what Jesus was talking about in Matthew chapter 25.
32:50You had the ability and the means to help somebody.
32:52You didn't help him, and when you did that, you weren't helping me.
32:57You had the ability and the means to help someone, and when you did help someone, you
33:04were actually helping me.
33:05That was the point of the story.
33:08And this parable, all the other parables are just illustrations of spiritual truth.
33:13But the story of the rich man and Lazarus was not a parable, because the name Lazarus was
33:20mentioned in that story, and so was Abraham.
33:24Abraham was in that story.
33:27It was not a parable.
33:28It actually happened.
33:29This guy finally died.
33:31He had stepped over Lazarus for the last time.
33:34He walked through, past the dogs that were licking his wounds.
33:38He had open sores.
33:40He was bleeding.
33:41He had no money for food.
33:43He was starving.
33:44The guy finally died in the streets, which happens all the time here in the United States,
33:49correct?
33:503,000 people a day die in homeless encampments and on the streets all across the United States
33:57of America, 3,000 people a day.
34:02That's what happened to Lazarus.
34:03He was homeless, and he died on the streets.
34:05But he had his deep-seated faith in Jehovah, and he had true faith, genuine faith in God.
34:15Okay?
34:15Which is a beautiful thing, because many people are beaten down with trials and temptations
34:23and suffering and disappointments and so on, and they get a hard heart, and they turn on
34:27God.
34:28Lazarus didn't do that.
34:30He was down and out.
34:31He had nothing.
34:33He made all his mistakes in life.
34:34He screwed everything up.
34:36He ended up poor.
34:36He ended up on the streets.
34:38It happens.
34:40It happens.
34:43But he didn't get a hard heart.
34:46And so after he died, he was taken to paradise.
34:52Parodesis was a Greek word used to describe paradise, which was the temporary spot where
34:58the righteous were taken, because nobody who died before Christ was able to go to heaven.
35:05You can't go to heaven when you don't have a Savior.
35:09Well, the rich man saw Lazarus past this gulf that was between the torment areas of hell, Hattus, and Parodesis, paradise, where the Old Testament states all went when they died.
35:28Moses was there, and Moses was there, and everybody was there, and he said, hey, please send Lazarus back to my brothers.
35:36They'll recognize him.
35:37We stepped over him every day coming home.
35:40They know who he is.
35:41He wanted Abraham, who was in paradise.
35:46Father Abraham, please send Lazarus to my brothers, because I don't want them to come here.
35:56And what a revealing situation that is.
35:59It's horrible.
36:00When you're in hell, you still have your memories.
36:03And the thing that's going to torment you the most in hell is going to be your regrets.
36:12Everything you did, you shouldn't have done, and everything you didn't do, you should have done, is going to be an eternal regret.
36:22And he yells at Abraham, send him back, send Lazarus back there.
36:28He assumed Abraham had the ability to do that.
36:30Where he got that idea, I have no idea.
36:32Abraham could have been sent out of desperation.
36:36Send him back, because my brothers, man, I got brothers, and they're as bad as I was.
36:44I know my brothers.
36:46I know them here.
36:47And when they die, they're going to come here with me.
36:49They'll be in hell.
36:52Haddis, they'll be, and the guy said, I am tormented in this flame.
36:58Can you send me over something to fix this?
37:01How about a cup of water?
37:04Jesus mentioned a cup of water.
37:06He said, if you give a cup of water to someone with an honest and sincere heart, you will not lose your reward in eternity.
37:14Well, he wanted a cup of water sent from Abraham over the gulf to him to try to cool this thing down.
37:23He was being, he was in some form of extreme discomfort.
37:27He was extremely discomfort.
37:30Uncomfortable.
37:31It was horrible.
37:32He said, I am, quote, this is a quote, tormented in this flame.
37:37Okay, so what you've got to understand is that the same Greek words used to describe heaven in the New Testament are also used to describe hell in the New Testament.
37:54They're the same words.
37:55So if one is temporary, the other one's temporary.
38:00If you vanish in one, you vanish in the other.
38:04If one is permanent in the eternal and never, never changes, then the other one does the same thing.
38:12Okay, the Pope made a statement.
38:16The one that just died, Francis, he made a statement about hell not existing.
38:22I mean, this controversy over hell has gotten out of hand.
38:27This thing's gotten way out of hand.
38:30But my encouragement to you is this.
38:32If you're a born-again Christian, you're serving the Lord.
38:36There is no chance in this world you are going to end up in Hattus.
38:44You will not end up in the lake of fire.
38:46Get in up.
38:48You will not go to hell.
38:50Hattus.
38:51You're not going to do it.
38:54And even if you go to hell, you will not end up in Tartarus.
38:57That's a special section for fallen angels and Nephilim.
39:00They're being tormented.
39:02And the Bible says the Nephilim will never be resurrected.
39:05at the resurrection of the unjust.
39:08They don't get resurrection.
39:09They just stay there.
39:11And at the end, as you know, it says,
39:14Satan, the false prophet, and the Antichrist are in the lake of fire, Gehenna.
39:23Now, if you believe hell is temporary,
39:25what you also believe is that the devil, the Antichrist, and the false prophet get out of hell.
39:32You really believe that?
39:36You actually believe Satan, who murdered every human being on the planet Earth,
39:41that he gets out of hell?
39:44You think Hitler and Stalin and Pol Pot all have a temporary period of hell and they all get out?
39:51Friend, you can't believe that.
39:55You have to believe exactly what the word says.
39:58Again, it's uncomfortable.
39:59I'm uncomfortable with it.
40:00I don't like the concept of hell.
40:02I hate it.
40:04I don't even like talking about it.
40:06But somebody's got to clear this up.
40:09And guess who got voted to clear it up?
40:15Hi.
40:15Our function is not to preach to people about saving them from hell,
40:25but it is to preach to people the unsearchable riches of Christ.
40:29That's our job.
40:31And you, as a born-again Christian, are to remember that everything you say and everything you do
40:37is being watched and recorded.
40:40Every idle word a man speaks, it will give account thereof in the day of judgment.
40:44All your service to God, if you do it with a sincere heart, gets rewarded.
40:49Even something little, like a cup of water given to, like passing off a diet, caffeine-free Coke.
40:59There it is.
41:01I took a little sip of that.
41:03Even if you give that to someone in the name of Jesus, you will never lose your reward.
41:10Your rewards are eternal.
41:13They are everlasting.
41:15Ionius.
41:16You will never lose them.
41:18The earth, the universe, it's all eternal.
41:21God created the spirit of man.
41:26Eternal.
41:27It never extinguishes and never goes away.
41:35I'm not sure that helped, but I hope it did.
41:38I'll see you next time.
41:39I love you.
41:43I love you.
42:01I love you.
