00:00This holiday season, even the North Pole is feeling the strain of the economy.
00:05Santa isn't exactly as flush with cash as he's been in the days of yore,
00:10at least according to a new Associated Press poll that found Americans are spending
00:14less this holiday season. About half of holiday shoppers say that it's harder than usual to
00:19afford the gifts that they want to give this year. The same amount say that they're cutting
00:23back on non-essential purchases and putting off big buys. But it's not just holiday gifts.
00:2889% of the respondents said their grocery bills are up. Man, do I know that. And close to 7 in
00:3510 Americans say the economy is, quote, poor. For the sake of comparison, though, the same survey
00:40in December of last year had the same result when it comes to the overall rating of the economy.
00:46Remember how I told you President Trump said that he thinks the economy will get revved up in 2026?
00:52So far, only about 2 in 10 surveyed by the AP agree with him. About 4 in 10 says it's going to
00:58get worse and the rest say it's just going to stay the same.
