00:26in a critical condition in hospital and under heavy police guard.

00:31Anthony Albanese, the Prime Minister,

00:32was one of those who came down here today to lay flowers.

00:35He was already facing political criticism,

00:37including from Israeli leader Netanyahu.

00:39He says he warned the Prime Minister four months ago

00:41about how recognising a Palestinian state

00:44would fuel the fires of anti-Semitism.

00:47Anthony Albanese is saying that now is the time for national unity.

00:51What we saw yesterday was an act of pure evil,

00:54an act of anti-Semitism,

00:56an act of terrorism on our shores.

01:00This was an attack deliberately targeted at the Jewish community

01:04on the first day of Hanukkah.

01:07Today, all Australians wrap our arms around them

01:10and say, we stand with you.

01:13We will do whatever is necessary to stamp out anti-Semitism.

01:16And I want to conclude finally by saying

01:21that the government is prepared to take whatever action is necessary.
