Holden: Ukraine must be allowed to 'make final decision'

Shadow Transport Secretary Richard Holden says that the Ukrainian government must be around the table and allowed to "make the final decision" on peace negotiations. The Conservative shadow cabinet member added that "we cannot allow a situation like the Munich Agreement", the infamous deal that Neville Chamberlain agreed with Adolf Hitler that did not prevent the Second World War. 00:00We have to ensure that whatever is agreed to by international partners, that actually Ukraine is the one who makes the final decision here.

00:10It's very important that the Ukrainian people's view is there around that table.

00:16Britain has been, under governments of all colours, a real partner of Ukraine and President Zelensky.

00:21I hope that we maintain that position and we keep speaking out on behalf of the people of Ukraine,

00:27because we cannot have a situation in which military aggression is allowed to take place and is allowed to win.

00:36And we cannot allow a situation like the Munich Agreement in 1938, which we thought we were getting peace,

00:43but all we were doing was delaying war just temporarily and allowing even more forces to be built up by aggressors.
