00:00With the investigation, I'll tell you that right now the investigation continues to
00:08progress extremely fast. We're in the process of collecting evidence and
00:12seizing items that we need to see, search locations that we need to search. I want
00:17to commend the facility or what you're being told by or what information you're
00:21getting from somebody, but I can't comment on the fact that. So the person
00:26detained is actually a person in his 20s, in his 20s. While a suspect has been
00:35detained, our work as a state is not over. As governor, I'm committing to the city
00:44and to Brown and the broader community that has been impacted by this to make
00:50sure everyone who needs assistance, mental health assistance, can access them.
00:59If you are not yet on Josh's press list, Josh, raise your hand.
01:04And the resilience that these survivors showed and shared with me is frankly pretty overwhelming.
01:13It pales in comparison what they've gone through for the rest of us here. We're all saddened and scared and tired.
01:22But what they've been through is something entirely different. And yet they showed courage and hope and gratitude for how this community has stood up for them and how the health care providers cared for them.
01:36Obviously. You know, I was in what we call the ratty or main dining hall today. There were a lot of students gathered there. They are amazing. And they're supporting each other.
01:49So they're good. Thank you very much.
02:19I first heard about it actually through a fellow student who was running from the building to back to my dorm, which is a few blocks down that way.
02:36I was doing my laundry. So I was going through like the main entrance and then one of my friends was gasping and he was like, oh, there's been shots near Bears and Holly.
02:44And at first I didn't really know much of what to make of that. Like I thought maybe it was an altercation between two people, maybe a contained situation.
02:51So I texted like my group chat of my friends and I was like, hey, like they're talking about some shots. And I didn't really take it that seriously until I think my mom called and she was hearing from like a mom's group chat that she had about all about like there being multiple victims and students fleeing from the scene.
03:08And then the alert started rolling in. So that's when I started to realize the gravity of the situation.
03:38Yeah, I mean, I think absolutely this is a huge wake up call for everybody that, you know, has been affected and just everybody in the country in general.
03:54And gun violence is a huge issue and this is truly so tragic that we're seeing these events happen over and over again.
04:00And so I think something definitely needs to be done. You know, what that may be, I think, you know, is something to be figured out.
04:09It's obviously a very difficult situation. You know, I hope, I truly hope that, you know, we can figure something out.
04:15Let's try it.
04:42So we will need to have a cut too.
04:53I'm going to prepare for 4 minutes in a row.
