00:00How would you respond to Trump saying that it's a scary time for a man right now?
00:03I think that's ridiculous.
00:05You're such an empowered woman.
00:07Where does that source of strength come from?
00:09Is it a family member that instilled it in you?
00:12I mean, look, I come from a group of people that survived the Middle Passage.
00:16So you can't not be strong when you come from that.
00:19Like some black body decided that they weren't gonna die on their way over to this country.
00:25And therefore, I stand here before you today.
00:29So that's a really strong bloodline that I step forward in.
00:33Why is it so important that you recognize the power of women right now?
00:36We should recognize the power of women every day.
00:39Without women, there's none of us.
00:42We should be treated like everyone else and like equals.
00:48And I think that when people treat us like we're second class citizens, society suffers.
00:53At what age? Did you feel the most powerful?
00:55At what age?
00:57I don't know if I ever feel powerful.
01:00I mean, I think every age I feel powerful in some way.
01:04And in some ways I don't.
01:06But I think that's the process of getting older.
01:08Is that, you know, you realize when you've got power and when you don't.
01:11And sometimes you think you've got power and you don't.
01:13It's a never ending struggle.
01:14It's a never ending struggle.
