Thirty semi-detached houses were destroyed in a fire at Kampung Sri Aman, Tawau, on Saturday (Dec 13), with firefighters responding to an emergency call at 11.23pm.

00:00Thirty semi-detached houses were destroyed in a fire at Kampung Shri Aman in Tawau on
00:06Saturday morning.
00:08Tawau Fire and Rescue Station Chief Jemisin Ujin said the department received an emergency
00:14call at 11.23pm and dispatched 17 personnel.
00:19He said transport pumps, a water relay system from fire rescue tender machinery and a water
00:24tanker were used to ensure sufficient water supply throughout the operation.
00:29The operation also used several water jets from fire hydrants and open water sources from
00:34the sea.
00:35No casualties were reported and firefighters managed to contain the blaze and saved about
00:41300 houses before the operation ended at 3.10am.
00:46The cause of the fire and the losses are still under investigation.
