00:00Somehow splits in two.
00:02Is it tied to one of the most famous UFO incidents of all time?
00:05Several people believe that this was a cover-up
00:08and something else was operating over Phoenix that night.
00:11Where did this girl get the power to scale walls?
00:15It's incredible and it doesn't seem like it should be possible.
00:18The internet actually nicknamed her Spider Girl.
00:21Is this remote island home to a Bigfoot that can swim?
00:26Sasquatches do not fear the water at all.
00:30And does this ancient pair of footprints prove a giant walk the Earth?
00:34For a person to make a 30-foot-long stride,
00:38they would have to stand at least 60 feet tall.
00:47Around the globe are videos.
00:49One of those things. It's moving.
00:52Photos and sounds that defy explanation.
01:00We don't know where they come from, who made them, or how they operate.
01:04What are they?
01:05Some sort of bizarre mutation.
01:08What's exciting is nobody really knows.
01:10Extraordinary claims need extraordinary proof.
01:12I'm Tony Harris, and as a journalist for more than 30 years,
01:18I've followed the facts where they take me.
01:21Now I'm bringing that spirit of investigation
01:23to the world's strangest sounds and images.
01:27We'll analyze each one with top experts.
01:30It's a credible case.
01:31It's a credible video.
01:33And pass a verdict on what it is.
01:36This video is clearly fake.
01:38The proof starts now.
01:47Good evening, everyone, and welcome to The Proof is Out There.
01:51Arizona is famous in UFO circles
01:53for the Phoenix Lights incident of 1997.
01:56But most people don't know
01:57that's only one of several similar incidents
02:00reported in the area over the years.
02:02Are they connected, and are they legit?
02:05Check this out.
02:07It's October 12, 2004, in Phoenix, Arizona.
02:10At around 7.45 p.m.,
02:12local resident Jeff Woolwine
02:14has set up a camera to film the night sky
02:16when he captures something out of this world.
02:21His video shows a bright white oblong-shaped light
02:24hovering in the sky.
02:25Eventually, the light begins to blink,
02:27and then, remarkably,
02:28it appears to slowly split apart,
02:31transforming from one single object
02:32into two separate entities.
02:35Shortly after they break apart,
02:37the two lights gradually disappear,
02:40one after the other.
02:42It's amazing, you know,
02:43because you're out there,
02:44and you're watching,
02:45and these things just magically appear in the sky.
02:48There's no airplanes dropping these things out.
02:51There's no explanation on why these things are here.
02:54Jeff says this is exactly what he's spent years looking for.
02:58I've been seeing these Phoenix lights
03:00ever since I was a kid,
03:02and, you know,
03:03it really made me go on a quest
03:04to find out what is really going on here
03:06in our Phoenix skies.
03:08So since this is Phoenix,
03:10the big question is,
03:12is Jeff's footage related to the most well-known
03:14UFO sightings here ever?
03:16Journalist M.J. Benalias takes us back
03:18to March 13, 1997,
03:21the night that would make the term
03:22Phoenix lights famous worldwide.
03:25Multiple people reported seeing
03:28very strange lights hovering over Phoenix, Arizona.
03:31They formed a large V-shaped object
03:34that hovered for several hours.
03:37Other reports circulated of individual lights
03:39moving around Phoenix as well.
03:41There's some photographs of lines of lights
03:44that kind of show up in the sky.
03:46At the time,
03:47some felt the V-shape formed one massive craft,
03:50estimated to be the size of more than 10 Boeing 747s.
03:54With so many witnesses,
03:56the government was forced to investigate.
03:58It took several months,
03:59but eventually the U.S. military confessed
04:01that they were actually running operations over Phoenix.
04:05The operation was known as Snowbird.
04:07A whole bunch of A-10 aircraft were in the sky,
04:10and they were testing out different models of flares.
04:13But was that the real story or a cover story?
04:17Several people believed that this was a cover-up
04:19and that the military was essentially trying to hide the fact
04:22that something else was operating over Phoenix that night.
04:25And Jeff believes that his video seems to show
04:28that perhaps there is some sort of resurgence
04:31of the Phoenix lights.
04:34It turns out Phoenix lights is actually a bit of a misnomer.
04:38The first sightings in 1997 occurred earlier that night
04:42near Henderson, Nevada, nearly 300 miles from Phoenix.
04:46So, two separate events could have been conflated
04:49into a single moment.
04:51Either way, the question still remains,
04:53is Jeff's footage proof that the Phoenix lights are back?
04:57Rich Hoffman of the Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies
05:05begins by comparing Jeff's footage
05:07with the reports from that fateful night in March of 1997.
05:11The Phoenix lights were a triangular shape,
05:14not two lights in the sky like this.
05:17The residents were describing one structure
05:19that was having multiple lights,
05:21and this is like one.
05:22So there's no comparison there.
05:23Yet, even if this isn't related to the Phoenix lights,
05:27how does one explain the mind-boggling moment
05:29when Jeff's alleged UFO appears to divide
05:32into two separate objects, which then disappear?
05:36Astronomer and video effects designer Mark D'Antonio
05:39thinks he may know.
05:40Earlier in the video, it looks like it's just one object
05:43because they are probably behind each other.
05:48But later on, as the objects move apart from each other,
05:52it gets more and more elongated,
05:53and then you start to see two distinct and separate objects.
05:57So is this a splitting UFO?
06:00Or is it two objects behind each other?
06:03If it is two objects,
06:05are they decidedly less exotic than alien craft?
06:09Are they balloons?
06:10Are they drones?
06:11Are they aircraft?
06:13Well, this was 2004.
06:15It's not very likely that they were drones,
06:18unless it was some kind of military drone.
06:20The main type of unmanned military aircraft in use in 2004
06:25was the remotely operated Predator drone.
06:28It's the size and shape of a small airplane,
06:31which also doesn't explain how the lights on it could split
06:35like we see in this video.
06:37So does that mean we need to call this a UFO after all?
06:40D'Antonio has his doubts.
06:42A sky lantern is a miniature hot air balloon
06:50made out of oiled paper and a wire frame
06:52with an opening at the bottom
06:54for a candle or other small source of fire.
06:56The giveaway is that they vanish.
07:00That's because the flame packets are fuel,
07:03and that fuel gets exhausted after a little while.
07:07And when it gets exhausted, the flame goes out.
07:10And that's just what we see here.
07:12D'Antonio's sky lantern idea is intriguing,
07:24but how could they fly so close together
07:26that they appear as one?
07:28The original Phoenix lights
07:30and similar incidents in the Phoenix area in the 2000s
07:33have been attributed to flares set off
07:35by the military and others.
07:37Yet there are still those who are skeptical
07:40of these down-to-earth explanations.
07:44Since this show began,
07:46we've been interested in a legendary beast
07:48said to lurk in the depths of Canada's Okanagan Lake.
07:51We have promised to stay on the story
07:53whenever there's a new sighting caught on camera.
07:56Well, it's happened again.
07:59October 2020.
08:01Friend Estate Winery on Okanagan Lake, British Columbia.
08:05It's a really calm day on the lake.
08:08Adam Schwartz said his family step onto a pier
08:11for a scenic view of the water
08:13when Adam spots this.
08:16An odd formation of waves undulating against the current.
08:20Let's take a closer look.
08:21You see what look like humps here, here, and here.
08:25Schwartz thinks this may be the legendary monster.
08:28Well, there's no boats out here.
08:30And, of course, Kelowna and Lake Okanagan
08:33is known for its sea monster, the Ogopogo.
08:36And everyone who's seen it on the news
08:38or friends and family that we've shown it to
08:40think, oh, that looks very convincing,
08:43like something's out there.
08:46This is Lake Okanagan.
08:47It has a long history and tradition of lake monster sightings
08:52that go back centuries.
08:54The local natives talked about something called the Nahatik,
08:58which was a great serpentine animal that lived in the lake.
09:02These indigenous people would even leave sacrificed animals in the water,
09:06believing that allowed them safe passage from the monster.
09:09According to Ken Gerhardt, the Ogopogo has more compelling photographic evidence
09:15than any lake monster around the world.
09:18In fact, about a month earlier, a couple sailing out on Lake Okanagan
09:22saw the head of some type of strange animal that almost looks like a dragon.
09:28In this photo, you can see the creature's brownish tone
09:31and what appear to be two horns jutting from the sides of its head.
09:35Many of the descriptions of the Ogopogo include something that has horns
09:40and will describe the head as having a horse-like or sheep-like shape to it.
09:46The majority of these Ogopogo sightings are clustered in the months of September
09:50and October, like this one.
09:53Gerhardt believes there's a good reason for that.
09:55It's important because those are the peak salmon fishing months at the lake.
10:00The salmon runs in British Columbia come in starting in June and July and August,
10:06and then the salmon begin to spawn in the lake in September and October.
10:10So if this creature is feeding on salmon,
10:14then it would make sense that there are more sightings of the Ogopogo during those months.
10:21Fans of the show may recall that our experts were unable to explain
10:25this alleged Ogopogo video from 2019.
10:28Will they be able to solve this mysterious sighting?
10:36Marine biologist Dr. Shea Steingass dives into one of the prevailing theories
10:40that this is just the result of something called the thermocline.
10:44When different densities and temperatures of water collide in a lake,
10:49you can get these really large-scale disturbances
10:52that appear to propagate through the water
10:55and maybe look a bit like a sea serpent.
10:59But this is a pretty calm day,
11:02and being in a lake like this,
11:04you would be less likely to have such a dynamic thermal wave
11:08interrupting the water like we see here.
11:11So could it be the legendary Ogopogo we're seeing?
11:14Steingass is doubtful due to the frigid temperature of the lake.
11:19Ogopogo is said to be 15 feet long or longer.
11:24An animal like this would not be able to thermoregulate in Lake Okanagan.
11:28When you look at aquatic animals in cold environments,
11:32you often see what is known as a fusiform body shape,
11:36essentially the body that's shaped like a football.
11:38They have less surface area to warm up and to thermoregulate.
11:43A long, sinuous sea monster would simply have too much surface area
11:48that would have to constantly heat.
11:50It would simply be too cold.
11:52And as for that horned creature that was photographed a month earlier,
11:56many have pointed out that if you look closely,
11:59you can see what appears to be the head and bill of an upside-down duck.
12:03And these horns are most likely just a pair of webbed feet.
12:06So if the Ogopogo is a myth, then just what is this thing?
12:12We turn to wildlife biologist Dr. Stephanie Mankin.
12:15What I believe is happening is that wind is hitting this part of the lake
12:19and creating a wave effect, and the wave is casting a shadow.
12:24If it was an animal swimming and it came to the surface,
12:28you would expect circles rippling.
12:31We don't see anything like that.
12:32So people think that they're seeing an animal in the water,
12:36but really it's the shadow of a wave.
12:43Our verdict?
12:44We're calling this a visual effect created by wind.
12:48So, we did not find Ogopogo this time,
12:51but there have been enough alleged sightings to keep us on the hunt.
12:55Any superhero fan knows that once Peter Parker was bitten by a radio actor spider,
13:03he became Spider-Man, able to climb walls and catch thieves.
13:06But that's all comic book stuff, right?
13:09Certainly no one in the real world could possess those abilities.
13:13Well, this next video might change your mind.
13:15It's July 9th, 2023, in Pingtan, China, known as the County of Islands.
13:23A mother and her children are at home watching something on television
13:26when something in their own living room steals the show.
13:30The family's home surveillance camera is rolling as one of the kids climbs onto the back of the sectional
13:35and then makes her way up the wall, perching herself in the upper corner of the room.
13:40Another video, this one taken on a phone camera,
13:44shows a closer angle of the 8-year-old demonstrating her wall-climbing talent.
13:48It's incredible, and it doesn't seem like it should be possible.
13:53The girl's mother uploaded the video,
13:56and the internet actually nicknamed her Spider-Girl,
13:59because what we're seeing here is very similar to the abilities that Spider-Man has.
14:04Some have even compared the video to another alleged wall-climber we've shown you before.
14:09That video shows a woman climbing a wall,
14:12and she's actually holding another woman by her hair as she climbs,
14:17and when the woman reaches the top of the wall, she lets the other woman go.
14:21Our experts determined that that video was a fake, thankfully.
14:26This video, though, appears pretty authentic,
14:30so maybe it is the real deal.
14:32If this girl keeps going, she may one day scale the heights of Alain Robert,
14:39also known as the human spider.
14:41In 2015, Robert broke the world record for most buildings climbed
14:46after he scaled his 121st skyscraper.
14:51So, is this footage a fraud, or do this girl's wall-climbing talents stick?
14:57Let's find out what our experts think.
14:59First, is the video for real?
15:05As you watch, you can see the subject's reflection,
15:09the way that the feet are positioned, the hand motions, and even the hair
15:13all appear to be consistent with one another.
15:17So, the video appears to be genuine.
15:20Then, does this girl really have spider-like climbing abilities?
15:23To answer that, we need to know how spiders really climb.
15:27First of all, spiders are really light,
15:29so that works towards their advantage
15:31because gravity is not acting upon them as much.
15:35Also, they have small hairs on their feet,
15:38and those hairs have smaller hairs called sexuals,
15:41and they form triangular tips.
15:43And what happens is there's temporary forces
15:46that form between the spider feet and the walls
15:48called van der Waals forces.
15:50Named for the Dutch physicist Johannes Diederik van der Waals,
15:54who first proposed the idea.
15:56A van der Waals force is an electrostatic attraction
15:59that occurs between molecules in extremely close proximity,
16:02like a 25 millionth of an inch.
16:05This is due to the positive and negative charges within molecules,
16:08attracting each other like opposing magnets.
16:10These small hairs enable spiders to grip to surfaces
16:15with a force 107 times greater than their weight.
16:19But this girl clearly lacks a number of these arachnid features.
16:23She doesn't have the tiny spider hairs,
16:27and her skin looks pretty smooth.
16:29She's also not obviously as light as a spider.
16:32So, is there some other way she's defying
16:35the relentless force of gravity here on Earth?
16:37Physicist Dr. Michio Kaku explains
16:39what he thinks is actually going on,
16:41and it has something to do with the location
16:44where this was filmed,
16:45on an island right off the mainland.
16:48Notice that A, she's small.
16:50B, the amount of muscle mass per kilogram
16:53is higher for small objects than for big objects.
16:58The fact that they're near the ocean
17:00and the air is humid helps to a degree.
17:03If there's too much water vapor in the air,
17:06then you slip and fall down.
17:08If there's only a little bit,
17:10then you stick.
17:12That's because the small amount of water
17:14sandwiched between the girl's skin and the wall
17:17acts as a binding glue,
17:19increasing the friction and causing the skin to stick.
17:22So the fact that she's small,
17:24she's skinny, and she sweats a little bit
17:27allows her to perform these feats
17:29that a large person could never perform.
17:33So while she may not be spider girl,
17:35her technique does bear some resemblance
17:37to the arachnids, in principle.
17:39It's somewhat similar to what spiders do,
17:42in that her skin is resisting the wall
17:46and becoming kind of, like, sticky to it,
17:48but she has another wall to support her,
17:51where spiders are just working
17:52with the bottoms of their legs
17:53and the one wall surface.
18:01Our verdict?
18:02This is the result of the muscle mass on the girl
18:06and the moisture in the air.
18:07We don't have to test out
18:09this girl's web-spinning abilities
18:11to know she's not exactly spider girl,
18:13but that doesn't make her talent
18:15for wall climbing any less impressive.
18:17Syria is one of the oldest
18:21continuously inhabited regions of the world,
18:24but a mid-20th century archaeological excavation
18:27has left some wondering
18:29if a giant human once lived there
18:31who would have towered over most dinosaurs.
18:35It's 1955, in the village of Aindara, Syria,
18:39on the east bank of the Afrin River.
18:41An archaeologist has discovered
18:43a 3,000-year-old Hittite temple
18:45with stone sculptures of lions,
18:48sphinxes, and mountain gods.
18:50But among the usual carvings and sculptures
18:53lie enormous imprints of mysterious origin.
18:57Two three-foot-long human-like footprints
19:00emerge out of the stone floor
19:02at the portico where the temple once stood.
19:05Another left footprint lies a few feet
19:07in front of the pair,
19:09and a final right footprint
19:10is embedded at the threshold of the main hall,
19:14some 30 feet away.
19:15We don't see the right footprint
19:17until the other side of this enclosure.
19:20For someone to make a 30-foot stride,
19:22that person would have to be at least 65 feet tall.
19:26We have to wonder if these aren't
19:27some type of ancient gods or giants
19:30that walked upon the earth.
19:31Now, the Hittites were an ancient people
19:34who first occupied what is now western Turkey.
19:36They began expanding into northern Syria,
19:39and by 1340 B.C.
19:40became one of the most dominant powers
19:42in the Middle East.
19:43And, coincidentally, godly giants
19:46were depicted in the Hittite Empire.
19:49One of the biblical tales
19:51is that fallen angels actually came down
19:53and mated with human females.
19:56And the offspring of this
19:58were known as the Nephilim,
20:00half god, half man,
20:02very violent, large giants.
20:04Is it possible that Indara
20:06is one of the actual locations
20:08where the Nephilim may have resided?
20:11And Martel says that Indara
20:14isn't the only place
20:16where ancient gods
20:17and their giant offspring
20:19once reportedly roamed.
20:20In Baalbek in Lebanon,
20:22there are huge trilitheton stones
20:25stacked to make a platform.
20:27Across the globe, in Mexico,
20:29we have in Teotihuacan
20:30large step pyramids
20:32that look as though they were built
20:34just for the gods
20:35to walk down these large steps.
20:37Many of these locations
20:39all seem to have similar properties
20:41which speak to the idea
20:43that at one point,
20:44giants did walk upon the earth.
20:46In 1577,
20:51a large skeleton
20:52found near Lucerne, Switzerland
20:54was interpreted
20:55as the bones of an ancient giant.
20:58The skeleton measured
20:59about 19 feet tall
21:00but was later determined
21:01to belong to a mammoth
21:02or some similar form
21:04of ancient elephant.
21:06Yet these prints in Indara
21:08can't be mistaken
21:09for those of an elephant.
21:11So let's ask our experts
21:12to put their stamp
21:14on these enigmatic
21:15indentations.
21:21Anthropologist Kathy Strain
21:23says there is evidence
21:24that giants once roamed the earth.
21:26But were they giant enough?
21:28In 1998,
21:29Emory University did a study
21:31where they found
21:32this gene called the X-lineage.
21:35And some believe
21:36that it leads to taller people.
21:39In the 1800s,
21:40the Smithsonian
21:41was doing excavations
21:43when they found
21:44some skeletons
21:45that were roughly
21:467 foot 6 inches tall.
21:50We know that there are
21:51other people
21:51in the 8 foot range
21:53and so it's possible
21:54that this X-lineage
21:57does lead to taller people.
21:59However,
22:00it's still not going
22:01to get you in the range
22:02of 65 feet tall.
22:04Archaeologist Dr. Ed Barnhart
22:07says there's also
22:08something about
22:09these imprints
22:10that just doesn't add up.
22:12There are really
22:12only four footprints.
22:14If indeed this was made
22:16by some giant being,
22:18we could track
22:19those footprints out
22:20much farther
22:21across the stone
22:22than simply
22:23the last four steps.
22:25And if there was
22:26actually a 65 foot
22:28tall person
22:29in the Hittite world,
22:31there would be
22:31a giant temple
22:33with a giant tomb
22:35with a giant body.
22:37I'm an archaeologist.
22:38Show me the artifacts.
22:40So,
22:41were these footprints
22:42forged?
22:43To me,
22:44these represent
22:45carved footprints.
22:47They were meant
22:47to have the sense
22:49that the god
22:50or the goddesses
22:51walking in,
22:53standing in their own temple,
22:54and then walking
22:55to where they would sit
22:56to be worshipped.
22:58They are symbols
23:00that a giant person
23:02had walked
23:02into this temple
23:03to pray there,
23:05or perhaps
23:06to be prayed to.
23:07An archaeological site
23:09usually is hiding secrets.
23:11Maybe there was something
23:12that would illuminate
23:13what these footprints
23:14meant to the Hittite people.
23:17But unfortunately,
23:19in 2018,
23:21the Turkish Air Force
23:22bombed the site.
23:24The temple was sadly
23:26a casualty
23:26in a Turkish offensive
23:28against Kurdish forces
23:29in northwestern Syria
23:30during the Civil War.
23:32And so,
23:34a lot of the site
23:35was ruined
23:36in that bombing,
23:37and we can't recover
23:38what's now lost.
23:44Our verdict?
23:46These footprints
23:46are likely man-made
23:48symbolic representations.
23:50Tragically,
23:51the remaining secrets
23:52of this site
23:52are now lost to history.
23:54Is Bigfoot
23:57stalking the wilderness
23:59of Canada?
24:00If that feels like
24:01a no-brainer,
24:02let me give you another one.
24:03Is Bigfoot swimming
24:05in the waters of Canada?
24:07That question
24:08might just be answered
24:10in our next video,
24:11but the footage
24:11is still a mystery
24:13in itself.
24:14While the true origins
24:15of this video
24:16remain unknown,
24:18internet rumors suggest
24:19this footage was filmed
24:20in Ontario, Canada
24:21sometime in 2022.
24:24Two boaters
24:25are recording
24:25their voyage
24:26when their camera
24:27pans to the shoreline
24:28of an unpopulated island,
24:30and they spot something
24:31emerging from the woods.
24:34It's large,
24:35seemingly uniform
24:36in color,
24:37and bipedal.
24:38Let's zoom in
24:39on the footage
24:40and slow it down.
24:41The creature appears
24:42to be almost
24:43indistinguishable
24:44in color
24:45from the forest
24:46behind it,
24:47and it bears
24:47at least one striking
24:49similarity
24:49to the most famous
24:50alleged Bigfoot
24:52ever caught on camera.
24:53It is leaning forward
24:54at the waist
24:55about five degrees
24:56or so,
24:57which is also seen
24:58in the Patterson-Gimlin film,
25:00which is, of course,
25:01the best example
25:02of the way
25:03a Sasquatch moves.
25:05It quickly goes
25:06back into cover
25:07because Sasquatches,
25:08like all wild animals,
25:09don't particularly
25:10like to be observed.
25:11That mottled color
25:13to the fur
25:14is actually a benefit
25:15if you're trying
25:16to camouflage
25:17that would help it
25:18blend in
25:18to its environment.
25:20One wrinkle, though,
25:21this is on an island,
25:22and though most mammals
25:24are able to swim
25:25instinctively,
25:26a notable exception
25:27is the great apes.
25:29So what does Bigfoot
25:30think of aquatic activity?
25:32Sasquatches do not
25:33fear the water at all.
25:35They've been seen swimming
25:36off of southeast Alaska
25:38and wading through lakes
25:39in Minnesota.
25:40They are very often seen
25:42foraging for plants
25:43around the edge of water.
25:45Another theory
25:45worth considering,
25:46could we be seeing
25:47a hermit or mountain man
25:49who has forsaken
25:50modern civilization
25:51for a life
25:52in the wilderness?
25:53There's a certain
25:53type of person
25:55that lives in far-flung
25:56corners of the continent,
25:58whether it's Ontario
25:59or Alaska,
26:00the type of person
26:01that doesn't want
26:01to be around other people.
26:03A lot like Sasquatches.
26:05These people, like,
26:06very often live alone
26:07and a very rough life.
26:09So, is what we're seeing
26:11in this particular footage
26:12just a glimpse
26:13of one of these hermits
26:14living off the grid
26:16and perhaps wearing fur
26:17to stay warm
26:18in such harsh environments?
26:20Perhaps the most famous
26:22American hermit
26:23was Chris Knight,
26:24who spent 27 years
26:26living in the woods
26:27and stealing from homes
26:28in the North Pond area
26:30of Maine
26:31until his arrest in 2013.
26:33So, what are we
26:34looking at here?
26:35A criminal on the lam?
26:36A Sasquatch out for a swim?
26:38Or something else?
26:44First, let's start
26:45with a simpler theory.
26:47Ontario's black bear population
26:48is the second largest
26:49in North America,
26:50and we know they can swim.
26:53Could that be
26:53what we're seeing?
26:54The hair color
26:55kind of matches
26:56with what you would think
26:57of a bear.
26:58However, even though bears
27:00can walk on two legs
27:02for a short distance,
27:04the legs are shorter.
27:06So, I can safely rule out
27:08that that is a bear.
27:10If it isn't a black bear,
27:11could it be a person
27:12simply living off the grid?
27:14The gait and how it walks
27:16is very human-like.
27:17It's got two arms
27:18that swing as it walks,
27:20just like what humans do,
27:22and the proportions
27:23of the legs to the arms
27:24look correct for humans.
27:26But anatomy is one thing.
27:29Covering is another.
27:30I can't see anything
27:31like clothing, belts,
27:33or anything like that.
27:34So, I can conclude
27:35that it's not wearing clothing.
27:37What we are seeing
27:38is something that has fur or hair.
27:41Because it's covered
27:42head to toe with hair,
27:43we can rule out
27:44that it's a human being.
27:45Professor of anatomy
27:46Dr. Jeff Meldrum
27:48explores the idea
27:49that this could be a Bigfoot
27:50that swam to the island.
27:51He says it's true
27:52great apes can't swim instinctively,
27:55but some have learned.
27:56There are examples
27:57of apes that have learned
27:58to swim
27:59and frequent swimming pools
28:00even utilize aqualungs,
28:03clear regulators,
28:04and swim in the deep end
28:06of the pool.
28:07It's really quite fascinating
28:08the potential that they have.
28:10That possibility
28:11does exist
28:12amongst the great apes as well.
28:14However,
28:15for Meldrum,
28:16the issue isn't the swimming,
28:17it's the walking.
28:18The thing that concerns me
28:20is the gait.
28:21The stoop seems
28:22overly exaggerated.
28:23It doesn't have
28:24that natural spontaneity
28:26that we see
28:27in the Patterson-Gimlin film
28:29where the subject
28:30does in fact
28:31lean forward
28:32about five degrees
28:33consistently.
28:34This looks like
28:35a very self-conscious stoop
28:38as if it were
28:38encumbered
28:40with artificial feet
28:42and on an uneven surface.
28:45Our verdict,
28:50it's not a hairy Bigfoot
28:51or a hermit.
28:53We're calling this
28:53a hoax.
28:55It's this kind of stuff
28:56that gives serious
28:57Bigfoot research
28:58a bad name.
28:59On the other hand,
29:01it makes doing this show
29:02a lot of fun.
29:05In 2010,
29:07an airport in China
29:08was shut down
29:09for more than an hour
29:10after air traffic controllers
29:12saw what they believed
29:13to be a UFO buzzing around.
29:16Chinese officials
29:16later denied
29:17the incident even happened,
29:18claiming it must have been
29:19military exercises.
29:21But can that be said
29:22for this next Chinese incident?
29:26December 19, 2022.
29:29It's a clear night
29:30in Urdos City,
29:31located in China's
29:32inner Mongolia region.
29:34Suddenly,
29:35something appears
29:36in the sky above
29:37that grabs
29:37everyone's attention.
29:39One man points his phone up
29:40and captures this.
29:43To the side.
29:45See the arrow?
29:47A large spotlight
29:49in the shape
29:50of an upside-down jellyfish
29:51seems to expand
29:52and take over the heavens.
29:54In its center,
29:55a bright cone of light
29:56descends right here.
29:58Underneath it,
29:59a tadpole-shaped beam
30:01like a small lightning bolt
30:04appears frozen in time.
30:06What is this thing?
30:14We did have plenty
30:15of speculation
30:16regarding this phenomena
30:17being some sort
30:18of extraterrestrial event.
30:20Some believe
30:20China's UFO story
30:22begins with a set of disks
30:23found near the Tibetan border
30:25called the Dropa Stones,
30:26which allegedly
30:27are 12,000 years old,
30:29and tell the tale
30:30of an alien spaceship crash.
30:32Today,
30:32like the United States,
30:34China has its own
30:35investigatory body
30:36for unidentified aerial objects.
30:38It's run by
30:39the People's Liberation Army,
30:40or PLA,
30:41China's principal military force.
30:43According to the PLA,
30:45they refer to UAP,
30:47or Unidentified Aerial Phenomena,
30:49as UAC,
30:51or Unidentified Air Conditions.
30:53So what did the PLA
30:55have to say
30:55about this sighting
30:56at Ordos?
30:57There is limited intelligence
30:59because China
31:00is keeping it
31:01very close to its chest
31:03and not releasing
31:03very much about it.
31:05Benayas notes
31:06that silence
31:07has led some to wonder
31:08if instead of a war
31:09of the worlds,
31:10we should worry
31:11about a conflict
31:12much closer to home.
31:13There's been speculation
31:14this could be connected
31:16to some secret
31:16Chinese space weapon.
31:18It wouldn't be the first.
31:20Space,
31:21just like any domain,
31:22is going to be
31:23a battlefield.
31:24One particularly
31:24interesting weapon
31:25that China has developed
31:26is the
31:28Shijian-17 satellite.
31:30Essentially,
31:31it's an object
31:31that has
31:32a grappling arm
31:33on it
31:34and grabs onto
31:36the adversarial satellite.
31:38So they can
31:39de-orbit the satellite,
31:40making it unusable.
31:41Fundamentally,
31:42this could very well
31:43be used as a weapon
31:44should somebody
31:45need it to.
31:47What have we got here?
31:49So far,
31:50the only peep
31:51we've heard
31:51from the Chinese government
31:52came through
31:53the local
31:54Inner Mongolia
31:55Weather Bureau,
31:56which said
31:56it was not
31:57a weather phenomenon.
31:59Will our experts
32:00reach the same conclusion?
32:05We begin
32:06with military
32:06aviation expert
32:07Tim McMillan.
32:08By the end
32:09of 2022,
32:10there were nearly
32:117,000 satellites
32:12in orbit
32:13around the Earth.
32:14And on average,
32:15one falls back
32:16to Earth
32:16every week.
32:17Could it be
32:18a crashing satellite
32:18like the
32:19Shijian-17?
32:20No,
32:21for a couple
32:21of reasons.
32:22One being
32:23a satellite
32:24as it re-enters
32:25the Earth's atmosphere,
32:27you're going to see
32:28that same level
32:29of motion
32:30that you would expect
32:31from a shooting star.
32:32But we don't see
32:33anything that resembles
32:34that in these videos.
32:36Then is the object
32:37a candidate
32:37for what the PLA
32:39calls an unidentified
32:40air condition,
32:41what we call a UFO?
32:43McMillan has a hunch
32:44we're seeing something
32:45very much from this planet.
32:47To be honest with you,
32:48if I walked out of my house
32:49and saw this
32:49in the night sky,
32:50I'd probably freak out.
32:52But there are
32:53telltale signs
32:54that as otherworldly
32:56as it looks,
32:56this is going to be
32:57a man-made object.
32:58We can tell
32:59from the video here
32:59these bright plumes
33:01are actually
33:01calls from an interaction
33:03between different gases
33:04in the Earth's atmosphere.
33:06All of the characteristics
33:07point to it
33:08very likely
33:08a multi-stage rocket,
33:10which is why we see
33:11the kind of
33:11differing variances
33:12of light there.
33:14Astronomer
33:15and video effects designer
33:16Mark D'Antonio agrees
33:17and sees even more clues.
33:19To me,
33:20this is the early smoke trail
33:21rising in the air.
33:23And then as it gets up
33:24higher,
33:24we're looking up
33:25into it.
33:26D'Antonio notes
33:27that smoke trail
33:28has the hallmarks
33:29of an exhaust plume,
33:30specifically from a rocket.
33:32Then the rocket
33:32changes perspective
33:33and looks like
33:34and changes its angle
33:36of attack.
33:37It's now heading more
33:38toward the horizon,
33:39toward the horizontal.
33:40In fact,
33:41he believes it all adds
33:42up to a rocket launch.
33:44So in the anatomy of this,
33:46we have the beginning plume,
33:48we have the later plume
33:50of the launch,
33:50and then we see here,
33:52this is where
33:52it all emanates from.
33:54As for the type
33:55of rocket this could be,
33:56D'Antonio offers a theory.
33:58I think that it's
33:59one of the ICBMs,
34:01which stands for
34:02Intercontinental Ballistic Missile.
34:04ICBMs can have a range
34:05of over 3,500 miles
34:07and are primarily designed
34:09for nuclear weapons delivery.
34:11According to news reports,
34:13the People's Liberation Army
34:14began building
34:15an ICBM test site
34:17in nearby Ordos City
34:18in 2021.
34:20If this is an ICBM test,
34:23it could mean
34:24that site is now
34:25fully operational.
34:29Government secrets
34:30are tough to crack,
34:32especially in China.
34:34Our verdict,
34:34all we can say is this
34:36is a Chinese rocket launch.
34:38But what was it carrying?
34:40A satellite?
34:41Some new kind
34:42of space weapon?
34:43For now,
34:44that's unknown.
34:47In earlier episodes,
34:49we've featured videos
34:50from Italy
34:51of oddities in the sky
34:52that couldn't be
34:54easily explained.
34:55But this next clip
34:56may be one of the most compelling
34:57to ever come out
34:59of that ancient land.
35:00Take a look
35:00and you'll see what I mean.
35:02In the early 2000s,
35:04journalist Paula Harris
35:05has handed a mysterious videotape
35:07with an alleged UFO scientist.
35:09Paula isn't told
35:10any details about the recording,
35:12including when it was filmed.
35:13All she knows
35:14is that it took place
35:16near the town of
35:16Aviano-Ital.
35:18We didn't get the name
35:18of the photographer.
35:20There was no return address,
35:21so I didn't know
35:22what I was getting
35:23until I got home.
35:24And when Paula plays the cassette,
35:26she is shocked
35:27by what she sees.
35:29An aerial craft
35:30shaped like a saucer
35:32flies gracefully
35:33along what appears
35:34to be a riverbed.
35:35As the UFO gets closer
35:37to the camera,
35:38we see it appears
35:39to have several vents
35:40and flaps
35:41on its oval body.
35:42It's a pretty big object
35:44and it's very clear.
35:46It's a classic disc
35:47and it almost had like
35:49lights around
35:50the circumference of it.
35:52Then,
35:52after hovering
35:53for a few seconds,
35:54we see the craft
35:55start to move again
35:56before quickly
35:57zooming off
35:58into the clouds.
35:59Writer M.J.
36:00Benaiah says
36:00Italy has a long history
36:02of UFO sightings.
36:03In fact,
36:04in June 2023,
36:06former intelligence officer
36:07turned whistleblower
36:08David Grush
36:09made a startling claim.
36:10David Grush
36:11believes that
36:13the Vatican
36:13was responsible
36:15for the cover-up
36:16of UFOs.
36:17He makes the claim
36:17that in 1933,
36:20there was a UFO crash
36:21in Italy
36:21and the Italian government
36:23as well as
36:24the church
36:25essentially attempted
36:26to hush it up
36:26and secure
36:28the downed object.
36:29And when it comes
36:30to UFOs near Aviano,
36:32this wouldn't be the first.
36:33There is a bit of history
36:34with Aviano
36:36and UFO encounters.
36:37The area is home
36:39to a NATO air base.
36:41And on July 1st, 1977,
36:43an Air Force guard
36:45observed a strange craft
36:46hovering over the base
36:48which housed
36:49two secret jet fighters
36:50in a large hangar.
36:52This particular object
36:53had a sort of
36:54dome-shaped top.
36:56It was emitting
36:56multiple colored lights
36:58and it was 45 meter
36:59in diameter,
37:00about the size
37:01of the Navy Pier
37:03Ferris wheel
37:04in Chicago.
37:05A team of military guards
37:06and radar personnel
37:07purportedly tried
37:08to capture
37:09that aerial object.
37:10But when they did,
37:11they were hit
37:11with a mysterious
37:12power outage
37:13and the craft
37:14disappeared.
37:15But what about
37:15this craft
37:16seen hovering
37:17over the river
37:17near Aviano?
37:19Is it an alien encounter
37:20with a military base?
37:22To date,
37:24the Aviano footage
37:25has garnered
37:25nearly 8.5 million views
37:27on YouTube.
37:28A number of netizens
37:29have identified
37:30the location
37:31as somewhere near
37:32this bridge
37:33which crosses
37:34the Chalina stream.
37:36But let's see
37:37what our experts
37:37think about
37:38what this thing
37:38really is.
37:42We begin with
37:43military aviation
37:44expert Tim McMillan
37:45who points out
37:46this UFO
37:47flying over the river
37:48may not be
37:49as alien as you think.
37:50That particular shape
37:52is not exclusive
37:54to the UFO alien
37:55kind of lore
37:56and in fact,
37:57going back
37:57to the 1930s,
37:59the flying disc
38:00or lenticular design
38:02was already identified
38:03as really being
38:04an exceptional
38:05aerodynamic shape.
38:07One of the most
38:08well-known
38:08saucer-shaped machines
38:10is the Avrocar.
38:11It was developed
38:12as part of a
38:13U.S. military project
38:14carried out
38:15in the early years
38:16of the Cold War.
38:17That particular program
38:18never got off the ground
38:20both figuratively
38:21and literally.
38:22The Avrocar
38:23was only able to achieve
38:24a few feet off the ground
38:26for just several moments.
38:27And there's a more
38:29recent attempt at this
38:30with a smaller drone
38:32called the Adifo
38:33which integrates fans
38:35and then also
38:36a rotating jet engine
38:38on it
38:38to try to replicate
38:40this flying saucer flight.
38:42As the footage
38:42was taken so close
38:43to a military base,
38:45could this be some sort
38:46of early 2000s
38:48military craft?
38:49Well, hold on.
38:50McMillan notices
38:51something off
38:52about the footage.
38:53One of the major problems
38:54that I see
38:55is the fact
38:55that this object
38:56is flying really close
38:58over the surface.
38:59Just imagine
39:00a helicopter
39:00that's flying extremely low.
39:03That should be generating
39:04significant displacement
39:06on the ground.
39:07We don't see that there.
39:08How is it able
39:09to hover over
39:10without having
39:10any type of external effect
39:12on the ground?
39:13Rich Hoffman
39:14of the Scientific Coalition
39:15for UAP Studies agrees
39:17there's something
39:18not quite right here.
39:19You don't have
39:20an original video
39:21and you don't have
39:22metadata
39:23or anything to go on.
39:24Could I create CGI
39:25to look like this?
39:26The answer is
39:27yes, I could.
39:28For Hoffman,
39:29the most suspicious parts
39:30of the video
39:31occur at the end.
39:32When I saw the object
39:33become that indistinct
39:34line or blur,
39:36to me that suggested
39:37it was more like
39:39a CGI type
39:40of an artifact
39:41and I'm giving you
39:42the illusion
39:43that it's taking off
39:44at a very fast clip.
39:46With the red flags flying,
39:47we head to our
39:48video forensics expert,
39:49Michael Primo.
39:50We don't know
39:51where this file
39:52came from,
39:53structural attributes
39:54to be able to say
39:56whether or not
39:56it's a genuine recording.
39:58With the reduction
39:59in the quality
40:00becomes challenging
40:01because we can't
40:02see detail.
40:03But surprise,
40:04unlike Hoffman,
40:05Primo doesn't detect
40:06the use of any
40:07special effects.
40:08No evidence of CGI,
40:09no evidence of third-party
40:10editing applications,
40:12but again,
40:12those things can be stripped
40:13and anti-forensic technology
40:15essentially can be introduced,
40:17in which case the result
40:18of this authentication
40:19is inconclusive.
40:20Without more information
40:21about the chain of custody,
40:22we can't opine
40:23as to whether or not
40:24this actually occurred.
40:26So,
40:29this thing remains
40:30unidentified,
40:31and it is certainly flying,
40:33but we're not certain
40:34if this is even an object
40:36or just a video hoax.
40:38And with the ongoing
40:39military presence
40:40at Aviano Air Base,
40:41something tells me
40:42we'll be seeing
40:43more anomalous incidents
40:44there in the future.
40:46And that's our show
40:47for tonight.
40:47Thank you so much
40:48for watching,
40:49and keep those cameras rolling.
40:51We'll see you next time.
40:54And we'll see you soon.
