00:00Yeah mate, we got ya.
00:02Yeah, copy that.
00:03I guess you're wondering what we're doing because I was a bit vague last night.
00:07I know Mitch is.
00:08Me and Simon know what's going on after we spent all day getting supplies and fuel.
00:13That's a mission when we go to town, isn't it?
00:16I guess you're wondering where we're going, aren't you Mitch?
00:18Well, I certainly am, mate.
00:20I heard a few words there about borough, fishing and tough track though.
00:27We basically ran into a local come and had a yarn with us and we were talking to one
00:36of the TOs and they were saying, you boys should head out down this place.
00:42And we're like, oh yeah, okay, what's there?
00:45And you know what they said?
00:46Giant mud crabs and barramundi off the shoreline.
00:50Yeah, and it's on the other side of the peninsula too, so we're on the west out of this bloody
00:57wind of it, which would be good.
00:59It's going to be blowing like 40 knots over the next few days and anything on the east
01:04coast of Arnhem Land is going to be blown out.
01:08But they did say, you're not going to get that gear that you're towing in there.
01:14We've got a challenge.
01:16Challenge accepted.
01:17Challenge accepted.
01:18Go, Lexi.
01:20Go.
01:21Go.
01:23Go.
01:28Go.
01:29Go, Maxie, go!
01:35So, yeah, the trick about Arnhem Land is it's that place where it's, you know, it's not
01:54really on everyone's list because it's a little bit hard to organise things and get things
02:00sort of happening around here and there's a lot of stuff online and on the websites
02:04because the Indigenous groups in this area are trying to set it up for tourists, for
02:11people like myself and people like you guys. Mate, this place is next level. It's Arnhem Land
02:18and it has some of the best campsites, some of the best four-wheel driving,
02:24and it's unique to Australia. And they're the places, they're the places that, you know,
02:31get put on the bucket list and want to be ticked off. Yeah, that looks like it here. Yeah, this
02:37is the one here, boys. This one here. Got it? Yeah, pretty much. It's only a small little track.
02:45Well, they did say she was going to be tight. All right. So, Mitch, you roll in front. It's going to
02:52be a hell of a lot easier if you're rolling in front. At least you can give us winch points or
02:57anything like that. Yeah, copy that. Sounds good. Oh, yeah. By the way, someone tried to come out
03:03here about three weeks ago, they said, and it was literally side-by-side country only. There was no
03:08way they were getting forward drives through. So that was three weeks ago. You know, I was just about to
03:15say, this track's looking pretty good. I don't know what they're talking about,
03:18but I kind of have a feeling that I'm going to be eating my words later on.
03:23Here we go, fellas. It's starting to get pretty washed out up here. Oh, yeah. Copy that.
03:32Not much I can do about it. I've just got to drive straight through it.
03:35Yeah, that's pretty much it. Can't drive around it. Steady as she goes. Just hold on a sec there, Simon.
03:51There's a bit of rebar on the track.
03:57I reckon I could use that. We could make up a bit of a crab hook with that one. It's a little bit heavy,
04:03but cut it off and cut it down. I might chuck that on the trailer. I'll get Simon to chuck her on the
04:09trailer when he drives past. There's another bit just made for making crab hooks. Look at that.
04:22Hey, Simon. You on channel?
04:24Yo.
04:25There's two bits of rebar there. If you want to just chuck it on the trailer,
04:28I reckon we can make a couple of crab hooks with them.
04:30Oh, okay. Yeah, that's a good idea.
04:35On my side?
04:38Left-hand side.
04:44They're still there when we get there? All well and good. If they're not, even better.
04:48All right, fellas. It looks like it's a bit slippery here. A bit muddy and wet.
04:54Oh, yeah. I see it.
04:55Oh, mate did say. It did be wet.
04:59We might need to cut that branch there for you guys, but aside from that, the track's pretty solid
05:06underneath.
05:09Gray, dirty looking stuff.
05:12Oh, yeah. A bit of a hole there. Is that like a bit of a deep hole there, Mitch?
05:15Nah, it's all pretty shallow. It's got a solid bottom on it. Just a little bit greasy.
05:21No point busting hardcore through it. I'm getting plenty of traction. I've got plenty of ground
05:26clearance, so I don't go bouncing the boat around me.
05:31Plenty of traction, mate, or what, with the trailer?
05:33Yeah, yeah. Plenty of traction. I just had to... I missed that tree, that's all. The tree to the
05:40left there was down a bit low, rubbed on the side of the boat.
05:43Yeah, you're a bit high with the sides of the boat.
05:47Yeah, just hold. Simon, if you want to hold where you are, I haven't got through yet. We're
05:51just going to get rid of this tree out of the way and make it a bit easier for us.
05:54Sounds good.
05:55Oh my god, the amount of fish in here. Oh my god, look at that. Look at those fish.
06:05That thing looks like a little baby rock cod, sleepy cod. This thing looks like a bony brim.
06:11I don't know where we're near, but where do these fish come from?
06:16Look at that, mate. Look at the size of that one. He's in a mud puddle.
06:25It's got a hard bottom to it. We inched our little arses off it, but didn't. It's messy.
06:33I don't think someone's come through here any time soon. There's all tracks. Look at the tracks
06:38all over it. There are buggy tracks too. If you look, there's a buggy track there.
06:40Yeah, I did see a little, yeah, side by side, yeah. Probably old mate three weeks ago.
06:45He did say, buggy country. Yeah, he did say.
06:48That's all right. Yeah, yeah, it's got a hard bottom. The only thing it'll just be more
06:52more than anything will be traction, I reckon.
06:54Cool idea, Mitch. You go and grab your car and then give it a whirl. See how bad it looks.
06:57Before I go flying, I don't have to worry about traction, all right? Flying doesn't require traction, no.
07:05Jesus.
07:08Here we go. Definitely need that traction, eh?
07:10He's going in. Give him the berries, Mitch. He's going in. Look at him go.
07:17Oh, . He's going. He's not even, he's not even looking for traction.
07:23Oh, tell you what, mate. That's a bit of fun.
07:27He's having a ball with no trailer on the back.
07:29Here we go. As soon as I get some. Give it some.
07:34Just keeping wheels in the track. That's it. I'm getting traction. Into the pot. There she goes.
07:41In. Boat following. Yee-hoo.
07:46Yeah, doggy. Traction. Woo-hoo. Hold on to her.
07:51Yeah. How good is that? He even got a governor.
07:57Yeah, the bloody 300 pound bouncing, mate.
08:01Maybe. Yeah, Mitch. That was bloody cool.
08:04I've got like a two-kilometer walk to get my car.
08:08Oh, mate. You're not messing around now. Coming in hot.
08:11Holy crap. Oh, I missed that tree. Oh, shit.
08:16Missed the cameraman, too. We're good. We're off track.
08:20He's all over the show. Oh, no. Keep going. Keep going.
08:30He's made a whole new track. All right. Onwards and upwards. Here he comes now,
08:34the redline master. Hey, mate. It was all going on in there, mate.
08:38Mate, you were going that fast. I don't think you even were in anyone's track.
08:43You were still making your own, mate. It wasn't deliberate.
08:45At one stage there, I'm pretty sure the back of the boat was kissing the back of your car.
08:52They were through. It's all good.
08:55It's starting to get a little bit tight, weaving through the bush,
08:57toeing this trailer. And that's where the Clearview mirrors really come into their own.
09:01You can fold them in, fold them out, just in and out all the time.
09:07Covers all the controls that the Landcruiser has. So this Landcruiser 300.
09:13That's all the controls there, in, like that, out, all that sort of stuff. Adjustment,
09:19adjust all that, which is perfect.
09:22Here we go, guys. Might have a bit of an obstacle up here. Might have to move a tree,
09:27just so you guys can get through. I'll get through there, no dramas.
09:33Looks pretty substantial from what I can see back here.
09:37Looks very substantial. Mitch is probably going to have to guide me through on that one.
09:44If the vehicle goes under it, the boat should. How's it look?
09:48Yeah, it looks fine from here. If you stick to your left, you'll be fine.
09:53Keep it coming, keep it coming. Go to your left a little bit, mate.
10:00Just taking nice and steady through that. Can't be much in it.
10:06You have literally just skimmed past that. Beautiful.
10:10I'll get rid of that lower limb, see it? Yeah.
10:13Yeah, because that literally just...
10:17We always like to clean the track up rather than go around.
10:20It makes it easier for the next people coming in.
10:25Didn't even go close to that branch. Look.
10:30And this will probably start to slide into my wild, wild track.
10:38Oh, I'm sliding in.
10:39The slip and sliding going in there, mate.
10:42See if I can stay out of it or not.
10:49Nope. Coming in.
10:53Doesn't like a little slide sideways.
10:57All right, fellas. Got a little bit more water here.
10:59Oh, I should have plugged in that clear view.
11:02But nothing too crazy.
11:03Yeah, copy that. Looks very similar to what we just drove through, eh?
11:12Well, one thing I can say is we've been at this track for most of the day,
11:18and we've probably got about an hour of daylight left.
11:23The day is ticking.
11:27Try and go as straight as I can.
11:30I'm going to drop into that ditch for sure.
11:32I'm going to have to drop into the ditch.
11:43I missed the tree, but I'm in the ditch now.
11:46Beauty, you got through. That's good.
11:48That's it. Missed the tree.
11:50It's one less tree for me to cut down.
11:51Oh, that's what you'd call a rut.
12:06Looks a bit gnarly from back here.
12:08Yeah, I had to drop into the rut, and now I'm in it solid.
12:12I can't see that.
12:13Nah, Mitch, you're going to have to come back, mate. I'm in the rut now. I can't get out of it.
12:25Copy that, mate.
12:26I was looking on the back of you, mate.
12:30Sounds good.
12:32There you go, slowly.
12:37There you are.
12:43Oh.
12:48A little bit of wheel lift there.
12:55Didn't sound good, eh?
12:56No.
12:57Straighten your wheels up.
13:04Oh, that was hardcore.
13:07I reckon if I go high over here, if I go high and wide,
13:13like this.
13:15And then I cut back through there.
13:22Like that.
13:24Run over that ant mound.
13:28Just an ant mound, mate, Jimmy, right?
13:31Hey, that was textbook.
13:32Good job.
13:33Have your days.
13:33It's too easy.
13:37What's it look like around here, Mitch?
13:39Looks pretty good to me.
13:41Yeah, mate.
13:41She's looking pretty good.
13:43Nice and open compared to what it was before.
13:45How good's that?
13:47That was a hard day's work.
13:48Good job, buddy.
13:55Cheers, boys.
13:56Cheers.
13:56Good day.
13:57Very fun.
13:58Nice work.
13:59Well, we just left camp.
14:08That was a pretty good camp last night, actually, considering in the thick bush.
14:12Well, mate, we can't be too far from the coast now, eh?
14:16No, can't be too far from the coast.
14:18But we've still got a few swamps to dodge and all that sort of stuff.
14:21Well, that's getting exciting.
14:25More relieving than exciting.
14:28Yeah, well, that's it.
14:29Definitely excited to see that water.
14:32Yeah, I'm keen to see the water too, mate.
14:34It's been a bit of a mission so far.
14:37Oh, I see water.
14:39Finally, we made it.
14:42Yay!
14:43Mate, this is a little camp up here too, by the looks of it.
14:45Little shack.
14:46Oh, yeah. Copy that. Looking at it right now. How cool is that?
14:52That old cruise has seen some days, that's for sure.
14:56Proved the old mate wrong. Can get trailers there, you see?
15:00Look, there's a track down onto the beach, mate.
15:04There will be a boat here.
15:06Flatter's attacked.
15:09It was worth the effort to traverse the peninsula, mate.
15:13The East Coast would have been horrid.
15:15Oh, yeah.
15:16Well, I don't know where the good campsites are, mate, but we'll have to find somewhere.
15:22Not too far from where we are.
15:25All right, Mitch.
15:27According to my map, we've got to go down onto the beach and follow this along,
15:30because that track in front of us, it just ends in the bush.
15:33So we've got to head down the beach to get to where we need to go.
15:37Sounds like a bit of fun to me, mate. I'll take the lead, eh?
15:41Yeah, drop down onto the beach. We'll be right behind you.
15:45This is going to be a fail. Never think I'll let our tyres down yet.
15:48It feels pretty hard under the tyres here too, which is good.
15:51Until you get to the sand.
15:53Let's see what happens when we get the big gear down there.
15:56How's it feel, mate?
15:59No, no. I'm down. It's nice and hard.
16:02I didn't expect that. Well, you've got down on there and got all sorts of grief.
16:06Well, we've just got to keep tracking along here, apparently, and then I think it goes along a bit
16:11and then we pop back up or something. We'll find out. See how you go.
16:15Mate, I can see that creek ahead of us there. We're looking for an exit.
16:21It looks like it goes along and then up back on and then that cuts through the bush.
16:26Oh, yeah. There's a bit of an opening here. It's going to be tough for you guys. I'm going to give it a crack.
16:32How'd you go with that? You made it.
16:43Yeah, no, I'm up. I reckon you'll get up that, Simon.
16:47A bit of a run up. It might be Harper. I'll let you get out of the way.
16:50So close, yet so far.
17:02Ha-ha. The trailer dominated me. It wouldn't let me turn, eh?
17:06Did it? It was sort of like... Yeah, it was pushing me like...
17:09Oh, I'll guess you winch. I really wanted to be over there, but it didn't work.
17:15Up we come. There you go. You going up now?
17:20A little bit of a winch, and you're up.
17:21I'm up.
17:25Sorter.
17:26So near yet so far. Hang on.
17:40Just need a little pop.
17:41Thought you were coming for me then.
17:45All right. We're off the beach. I see the truck in front of us there, Mitch.
17:48Getting a bit of bush.
17:49All right, so we're going to follow this to skirt around that creek we couldn't cross,
17:53and that'll get us to our campsite, hopefully. There we go.
17:58This little mud flap type thing seems pretty dry, which is good.
18:02Oh, it's very slick. As soon as you break that top layer there, it's just slick as.
18:10Great.
18:12You're still going forward.
18:14I am. I'm going to keep going forward here, just in case.
18:17Oh, turn, turn, turn. Turn. Turn. Turn. No. Keep going. Keep going.
18:29Mate, he's very slick and not a little control.
18:32It doesn't sound good, Jase, for us.
18:36No, but he's actually driving. He's not even driving on the grass. You aren't even on the grass,
18:40are you, Mitch? No, mate. No.
18:43Well, I'm going to try and get on the grass, at least get a wheel or something on the grass,
18:47so I get a little bit of traction. I need traction first.
18:50There we go. Traction. Oh, he's into it.
18:55Yeah, doggy. Getting some momentum now. I just need momentum.
18:59I can see that mud flying in the air from here.
19:03Coming through.
19:07Mate, look at that grin in your face.
19:15Did you make it?
19:16Yeah, that's all she wrote. I just need to winch forward onto some grass to get some more traction.
19:24All right, winching forward. I'm just going to point my car in the direction of that tree.
19:31Because it's not deep mud. All it is is just got a slicky top on it.
19:35It is so greasy, this stuff.
19:38Yeah, I know.
19:39Does it feel drier and harder through there?
19:41Not really.
19:42Better get a UHF. You go and grab your car and come back.
19:45Sounds good.
19:46Because I'm not liking it.
19:48I thought it was just going to be a skim across the top.
19:50It is for Mitch, but it's not for us because of our weight.
19:54You're not going anywhere.
19:56No, I'm not.
19:56What's going on with your trailer?
19:57Looks like you're just dragging the trailer tires.
19:59They weren't even spinning.
20:00No.
20:02He's in trouble.
20:03He's in trouble. We're in trouble.
20:06Go forward around those trees there.
20:08Yeah, you watch this. I can't turn. Ready?
20:10I'm turned. I'm not turning.
20:15There we go. There we go. There we go.
20:18He turned then.
20:19Calm down. Calm down. You're not moving now.
20:22If you want to winch out, get a winch off that tree or something like that.
20:26So at least get onto these patches.
20:28Yeah.
20:28You get some traction on there, and then you can drive and pop and get over to where I am.
20:32You all right there, mate? You're going to be on your face here a tick.
20:37Maybe, just maybe, when the low tide comes, maybe you can get across on the beach.
20:43Maybe that's the other way. Maybe that's where everyone goes. I don't know.
20:47All right, reposition your winch now, Mitch, and pull you across onto the grass.
20:51If you let your tires down, you might crawl out of there.
20:55Look at that, eh?
20:56Mate, would you look at that?
20:58Oh, tire pressure.
21:00Oh, my God.
21:04Did you see that? Are you seeing this now as we speak?
21:08Let's drop the air out of my tires. Let's get Mitch down there, maybe see if there's a hard
21:14point on the grass so he can turn around. And if he can, then maybe he winches or I try and drive
21:21back to him in reverse. And then, because this is wetter than that.
21:26Tyres.
21:28Tyres. Let's do it.
21:32I'll try and reverse up, eh?
21:34I don't think he's going to come out quite as easy as the young fella, but we'll see.
21:38See if I can't just.
21:39He's moving. Not much. He was.
21:43No, he can't quite get the traction.
21:47So we'll hook Jase up to me, and I'm going to give a crack at pulling him out.
21:52Oi, Jase will follow you.
21:55You ready to go, Jase? Go.
21:57Go, Mitch.
21:59Too steady?
22:00Yeah, yeah, keep going, both of you.
22:01Keep going.
22:02Keep going.
22:04Keep going.
22:05Keep going.
22:06Just try and match Jase's speed, Mitch, without spinning too much.
22:12Yeah, you're going in the right direction.
22:14We're moving.
22:16This is a test you're reversing out here, mate.
22:19Then just drive through the bushes, eh?
22:24Still going good. Still going good.
22:26Yeah, gotta stop there, Mitch.
22:27Jase will drive from there.
22:29Can you stop, Jase?
22:31We're out.
22:31That could have been an absolute mess.
22:36Notice how dropping the air out of the tires just made all the difference right there.
22:41Like dropping the air right down to real deep sand pressures.
22:47Hey boys, you on channel?
22:48Yeah.
22:50Certainly are, mate.
22:53Mate, now that we're back onto the beach, did you want to go have a quick look at the creek back there
22:59behind us and see whether that's even something that'll cross at low tide?
23:03Because I've noticed the tide has dropped a truckload since we've been gone.
23:09Yeah, mate, I reckon that's a good idea.
23:14This looks like this is the way the locals go.
23:18We just couldn't see it on the high tide.
23:20The backtrack must be only for the driest times of the year.
23:24Away you go.
23:25Remember, you've got two sections you've got to cross.
23:27We'll see how far you get pretty quick.
23:30It actually looks all right.
23:31So do you want me to go through it, guys?
23:33Go.
23:33Yeah, away you go.
23:34We're just waiting here watching.
23:36This tide's actually running out really quick,
23:39opposed to when we went up into the mangroves there.
23:46It's ran out super hot.
23:47It's a rock well it looks, eh?
23:51Yeah, it feels it.
23:52So which has given us the opportunity to run down on the beach
23:56and run up this way?
23:57You still haven't popped your tyres up from the mud, have you?
24:01Nah, I've still got low pressures here, mate, and it's hard as a rock.
24:05All right, there's a second crossing here that I'm going across.
24:08That's a bit softer, but it's a solid bottom to it.
24:12Yeah, that was the one I was a bit concerned about.
24:14It looks like you just smashed it.
24:16All right, well, if you get up onto the hard there over there on the rock,
24:19I'll follow up and Simon can follow behind.
24:23Yeah, mate, no drummers.
24:25It's all a little bit daunting driving this far below the high tide mark, isn't it?
24:31Mate, you never take it for granted, ever.
24:35Ah, you get a bogging from hell in here.
24:41So don't get stuck.
24:44I'm going to splash up the saltwater, because it is a saltwater crossing.
24:46That's me. I'm through. Jason's currently going through now.
24:51Yeah, it's feeling good. There is a soft bit here where Mitch drove through.
24:55I'm going to stay out of his tracks just in case.
24:59Here we go. This is the soft bit.
25:02All right, I'm coming in.
25:04I think it's that last little exit bit he might find a little spot.
25:09Here he goes.
25:12There's the one.
25:13Simon does not like to mess around.
25:15He's ripping through that.
25:18My tyres aren't quite as soft as you guys.
25:20And I haven't put the trailer down.
25:21But that was good.
25:25Can't be too far away.
25:26Just that little peninsula up there, Mitch, is where I reckon the camp will be.
25:31It's OK, mate.
25:32It's exciting.
25:34It is a picture-perfect afternoon. Look at that.
25:40It is a beautiful day.
25:41We're going to get the sunset, mate, down over the water.
25:46I don't know where this truck goes here, Jase.
25:51Keep going.
25:52All right.
25:53I've come this far, mate. Don't stop now.
26:01There we go. Keeps going.
26:02He's right.
26:03Just stood up onto this little high point here, mate.
26:12It looks like I'm coming up to the ocean.
26:18Should be like a nice big red cliff, apparently.
26:20Yeah, certainly a cliff here.
26:24Is it a campsite of dreams or what?
26:26Mate, this looks unreal.
26:28There's an island out there.
26:29There's a little campsite here.
26:34Sweet.
26:36All right. Looks good to me.
26:39I'm going to pull up here just so you guys can get your trailers in first.
26:43I'm just going to go in here, mate. You want to hook around and come around the front of me?
26:50I reckon I can sneak through the back of here and come around the front of you, yeah.
26:55Copy that.
27:00Oh, look at that. What a spot.
27:02This is unreal.
27:03What a spot.
27:04How good is this?
27:08Look at that.
27:09Huh?
27:09Look at the cliff.
27:10How cool is that?
27:12It's incredible, these.
27:13Absolutely wicked.
27:15Big red cliffs, mate.
27:17I told you. I told you. This was the spot.
27:20I was not expecting this, mate.
27:22It was worth every bit.
27:23Nice little breeze coming into camp there.
27:26Mate, this is iconic Arnhem Land camping right here.
27:31And out there is barramundi and mud crabs and whatever. All that stuff and more.
27:40That view is motivation for a super quick camp setup.
27:47After a hard two days driving in, we'll worry about the muddies and the fish tomorrow.
27:52For now, it's knock-off time.
27:57And watch the sunset right here.
28:01Cheers, lads.
28:03Enough of good work.
28:14That tide is coming in real fast.
28:16And if we're going to get some crabs, especially over at Crab Island,
28:19we'd better get ourselves some hooks and get ourselves organized and get over to Crab Island.
28:24Because I want to get some of these big, giant mud crabs that they reckon they've got here.
28:28Mate, this has to be one of the primo camps that we've ever been to.
28:32Watch these rocks.
28:33A little bit slippery.
28:35A little bit slippery.
28:37Oh, easy.
28:38The rocks are like marbles.
28:41So the places we're looking for is we're looking for these holes,
28:46like nice big holes that go in underneath all this rock country here.
28:49And that's usually where the crabs will scurry.
28:53As the tide's dropping away, they'll go in under those holes, and that's where they'll hang out.
28:58I'm not feeling the crabiness here, Mitch.
29:01They'll look up there.
29:03We'll go back down here now.
29:06I think we need to be near the mangrove somewhere.
29:08I think you're right.
29:09I've got a monster.
29:10You found one?
29:11It's a monster.
29:14Like, I mean.
29:15An absolute monster.
29:17Oh, yeah.
29:17It's looking him in there.
29:18Look at the size of that claw sign.
29:19He's an absolute horse.
29:21He's a monster.
29:23Grab that claw.
29:23And I'm going to grab this claw.
29:25I'm going to get ready to help.
29:26Oh, no.
29:26He's feisty, mate.
29:27Get ready.
29:28Here he comes.
29:28Just steady, steady.
29:29We don't lose a claw.
29:30We want him whole.
29:30Yeah.
29:32Wait on.
29:32I'm going to hook him and pull him straight out.
29:33Here we go.
29:34Here you go.
29:34Here you go.
29:35Oh, oh, oh.
29:35Don't let him go that way.
29:38Spin him.
29:38Spin him.
29:39Spin him.
29:39Spin him.
29:40Spin him.
29:43Look at the size of that monster.
29:46Look at him.
29:47The size of that claw, mate.
29:49The claw's nearly as big as the crabs we normally eat.
29:51Yeah.
29:52I'm pretty sure that's my claw, that one, too.
29:54Yeah, it's not.
29:56It's actually got my name.
29:57It's Simon written.
29:58It's got Jase written underneath here.
29:59The size of that claw compared to my hand.
30:03Look at that.
30:04It's as big as my hand, that claw.
30:07Mate, I thought they were big.
30:09I didn't think they were this big.
30:13The crabs are sparse.
30:15So we use the ATV to head up to the next headland for a look.
30:21Before this tide rocks in, we'll give this little peninsula a crack
30:25and we might find one.
30:28Let's hope so.
30:30What do you reckon down there, mate?
30:32Yeah, that's where they hang out, I reckon.
30:35How are you going, mate?
30:36You're usually the crab finder.
30:37What's going on?
30:38I haven't seen any good holes yet.
30:46Oh, stop it.
30:48I'll have a go at home, mate.
30:50Hey, there's one over here.
30:52Have you got one?
30:53You've got to be careful.
30:53Look where you should.
30:54There you go.
30:55Go and have a look at him.
30:56Is it a good one?
30:56You dopey little bugger.
30:59Oh, there he is.
31:01Look at that little fella.
31:02He's not little.
31:03I don't think he's quite as big as that one you've got.
31:11They're a worry, these little fellas.
31:12Come here, come here.
31:14Oh, he's feisty.
31:16I'm happy with that.
31:16Oh, mate, go.
31:18We just need one more now.
31:19We need Mitch to get one.
31:20Where is Mitch?
31:21I've been thinking for ages.
31:23There you go, boys.
31:24There's one down here.
31:25You got one?
31:26There's one down here.
31:27Mitch has got one.
31:28Mitch is onto something.
31:29I don't think he's as big as that one just before.
31:33Let's go and see what Mitch is up to.
31:35Oh, look at you go.
31:36He's already caught him.
31:36Oh, it's worked.
31:37You get one?
31:38Yeah, he's got one.
31:39Yeah, I got one.
31:41And it's got me.
31:42It's got you.
31:43There's nothing to go either.
31:45Look at that.
31:46Oh, he's got one.
31:48That looks like a female, that one.
31:50Yes.
31:51Yeah, it is.
31:51It's a jenny.
31:53What's the rules up here, mate?
31:55You allowed to take jenny's?
31:56They just got to be big.
31:57There you go.
31:58You got to get a good grip on him to get him up.
32:01Dinosaur crap, mate, that one.
32:03Look at the size of her.
32:04The size compared to that female.
32:05You know what we should do?
32:06What's that?
32:07Crab fight.
32:09Let's have a crab fight.
32:10My crab versus both your crabs.
32:13I'm pretty sure that's illegal, eh?
32:14All right, put those fellas in the back there.
32:16Now, last night, last night, me and Mitch went on a little bit of an exploratory mission.
32:23Yeah.
32:24What did you come up with?
32:25Not too much, but we found this little, um, this little freshwater hole.
32:31Oh, billabong, eh, slash feeder creek.
32:37I reckon we go.
32:38I reckon you're going to get, you'll get barrows in the little feeder creek.
32:41It's freshwater.
32:42Yep.
32:42Go and have a look.
32:44Go and have a look.
32:45100%.
32:46Because we're going to wait for the tide to rock in here yet.
32:49We've got to cross this, like, a river first.
32:51Where is it?
32:52I don't know.
32:53Not that way.
32:54I don't think it's that way.
32:55Indecision.
32:58Down here somewhere, I think.
32:59Yep.
32:59There's our old track.
33:02That's it.
33:02We've got to cross here.
33:04Oh, yeah.
33:06So are you not.
33:07What's that trail?
33:08That's the first bit.
33:17Where are you going, man?
33:19There's a little spot in here, but I think we're, uh,
33:23Yeah, it might be a bit hard.
33:24I think we're a bit jammed.
33:25Yeah, I wouldn't get it pushing.
33:27Parker up here, eh?
33:28Yeah, yeah.
33:29There's a proper path through here where the buffalo have probably been running,
33:32the pigs have been running.
33:35Oh, that's got a big billabong over in there.
33:36Look.
33:37There.
33:38It's huge.
33:39There's some fish in here, I reckon.
33:41You have a look.
33:42Ready?
33:42You watch me.
33:43You watch this.
33:44Watch me catch a fish.
33:45That's my spot.
33:48Oh, fish on.
33:49Fish on.
33:50He's on.
33:51He's got something.
33:52Long one's got a barra.
33:54It is the smallest barra I think I've ever caught in all my days.
33:58That's a huge barra.
34:03What goes on here?
34:04Just a crocky slides in and out here.
34:05He comes through here, eh?
34:07Yep.
34:07This is his track.
34:08His little track.
34:11Keep your eyes peeled, boys.
34:12There's Mr. Crocky.
34:15We try the billabong, but have no luck.
34:18But the scenery here really makes up for it.
34:21I don't know about you boys, but I'm getting hungry.
34:24Yeah, it's pretty much that time, mate.
34:27I reckon we go and cook up some big fat mud crabs in the bushes on the coals.
34:31What do you reckon?
34:32Sounds like an awesome idea.
34:33Sound like a good idea?
34:34Yep.
34:36Let's go and cook the feed on the coals with the mud crabs from Helmwood.
34:41So we build a fire and wait for it to burn down the coals.
34:45There we go.
34:48That's our little paper bark table, that one.
34:55Yep, that's our spot.
34:56Now, here's your knife, Mitch.
35:01We're gonna have to knock these crabs off before they go in the fire, just to be a little bit humane.
35:08You literally go in there, and then you're waving the knife around in here.
35:13And that's, ooh, and you gotta watch you don't get nicked.
35:16And it's just quick.
35:18And then we put them on the fire.
35:20Boom.
35:22So we want to put them down on one side, and then flip them.
35:25Once they're cooked on one side, you flip them to the other side.
35:31So we'll cook them five minutes on one side, flip them, five on the other.
35:34Time.
35:35Probably maybe four minutes.
35:37Four.
35:38Now I'm gonna flip him.
35:49How are yours? Looking ready?
35:51Ryan's ready. What do you want yours off, Mitch?
35:52Yes, please, mate.
35:55It's a crab.
35:56Beautiful.
35:57They're gonna be a little bit hot there for a minute.
36:01They're bloody good, mate.
36:03Hot still, but they're tasty as.
36:05What do we call this?
36:07Arnhem Land lollipops.
36:10Cheers, boys.
36:10Arnhem Land lollipops. Look at that.
36:12Look at the big one, hey?
36:15I've got a big one.
36:15Yeah, it is, oh yeah.
36:16Oh, mate, look at the thickness of the claw. Look how thick that is. It's like armor plating.
36:29Let's go and see if we can find some foot.
36:30Go and get some barramundi, boys.
36:32Looks so.
36:34The tide is in, so we need to use the backtrack to reach camp.
36:42The mudflats aren't a problem in the U10.
36:45We'll be glad we turned around, eh?
36:49But we realized it was wise not to take the cars through here. We had no chance in this slop.
36:57We launched in front of the main camp.
37:00It's huge.
37:12What the hell happened then?
37:13I don't know.
37:14What happened then?
37:15Have you seen that though?
37:16What happened?
37:17It bust you off instant.
37:18I saw the big massive swirl.
37:20You could almost see the length of it.
37:21It was like least a...
37:22How big was it?
37:24It was like least a meter barra.
37:26Snapped the line.
37:27That was big.
37:30Wow, he got you as you were coming up to the boat.
37:32You have a lure in his mouth too, so...
37:35Wow.
37:36I did not see it.
37:37It was huge.
37:38The thing about this creek is we're literally...
37:43We've got minutes, I reckon.
37:46Minutes before we won't even get out of here.
37:48It's tempting.
37:50It's tempting after Mitch lost that monster barra.
37:54But we need to be very careful because I noticed
37:57yesterday afternoon that this entire bay had drained.
38:00We'll be stuck here.
38:03We'll be pushing, walking, cursing.
38:06We have missed the tide totally.
38:08By the time we hit the water, it was dropping fast.
38:11So we need to motor out.
38:13We're out of daylight, I think, mate.
38:15I'm gonna get this boat on the trailer, eh?
38:17So if we do that and get back to camp, mate,
38:19we're trying to light a fire.
38:21It will be.
38:22Sun goes down quick around here in the north.
38:27This out here, oh, this is a little bit hard to get used to.
38:31Tide and mudflats and stuff.
38:33But giant mud crabs, they're definitely giant mud crabs.
38:38And what we saw, just for a glimpse, it might have been a giant barramundi.
38:42Over there, there.
38:43What was easy on the way out has turned into a nightmare as the ATV goes down.
38:50It's locked up in the back.
38:51Yeah, it ain't gonna move at all.
38:53We gotta drop the air out of these tires real quick.
38:55Yep.
38:56Just try and disconnect that buggy if we disconnect the trailer off this thing.
39:00And then we'll have to winch it up to the hard there.
39:03Because it just went straight through it.
39:08All right, ready?
39:09The drawbar of the trailer has jammed the hitch under load.
39:13Try that.
39:14See if that's taking the load off.
39:15Oh, .
39:17You all right?
39:18Yep.
39:19What'd it get?
39:20Just my knee.
39:21Walk it off.
39:22Walk it off.
39:27Oh, how did that just crawl out?
39:30Spin it around.
39:31We'll get the winch.
39:34It isn't a good way to finish a fishing trip.
39:40If we had brought our car out here, it would have been a disaster.
39:44You have to dig the sand and the mud out of that side.
39:48It's just digging down.
39:53There she goes.
39:57Can you stop the front from digging in?
40:00Take two, mate.
40:05We limp back to camp covered in mud as well as fishless.
40:09It looks like it's chicken tonight.
40:15Next time, we travel the floodplains.
40:17Where the buffalo roam free.
40:19And we hit one of the best barra spots in the NT.
40:22That's a good fish.
40:23I reckon about 85.
40:25We have our wind.
40:25He's only just hooked.
40:26Oh, Jasey's barely hooked like he's bent.
40:29We have our losses.
40:32Join us for the adventure.
40:37What's he doing here?
40:38Mate, I've got no idea.
40:41What's going on?
40:42I hear you guys are giving away my D-Max.
40:44Mate, you left the thing fucked in my shed.
40:46You can't give away, Maximus.
40:47It's better all day trying to get the scratches out of it.
40:49You've done a good job.
40:50I don't know.
40:51It looks like yours.
40:52But it's actually not.
40:53It's a brand new D-Max.
40:54And I'm going to give it away.
40:56Mate, it's got a brand new canopy on the back, mate.
40:58We've got rooftop tent, awning.
41:00What's swinging off the back?
41:01Oh, check this out.
41:02428 Avenger, 50 horsepower tiller on the back.
41:06Oi, $5,000 gift card.
41:08And you know what?
41:09While you're here, let's give that away as well.

41:31It's good to be back at camp.
41:36Wasn't looking good there for a minute or two.
41:39Yes.
41:40Bloody hell, that could have been a mess.
41:42That quickly turned pear-shaped, didn't it?
41:44The day started off all lovely, wandering around, eating crabs.
41:49Yep.
41:51And then we went fishing.
41:54It all started turning pear-shaped after Mitch lost that fear.
41:57Yes.
41:58Oh, mate.
41:58Don't talk to me about that.
42:00Don't bring that up.
42:01He lost the big fish.
42:02And from then on, it all went downhill.
42:05He broke his rod.
42:07Oh, do we have to bring this up?
42:08Broke his rod.
42:10We ran out of water in the creek.
42:13But anyway, cheers, boys.
42:14Good job.
42:14Cheers, Oz.
42:15Another good day.
42:16Good job.
42:16How's it, Mitch?
42:17Oh, cheers, mate.
42:19Cheers to this great spot here in Arnhem Land.
42:21That's it.
42:22This is a place we've never been, and we have now.
