A scientist and a group of colleagues are conducting experiments at a nuclear power plant and accidentally dump toxic waste near a volcano. An environmental journalist arrives on the island where the experiment is taking place, accompanied by her photographer. They dedicate themselves to photographing the area and snooping around, making life difficult for the researchers. Meanwhile, an extraterrestrial vehicle crashes nearby, and some of the plant's guards are attacked by a powerful, tentacled creature.
