00:00The floods that hit Perlis last month caused an estimated 150 million ringgit in losses,
00:06affecting homes, infrastructure, agriculture, local businesses, public facilities,
00:13as well as the education and health sectors.
00:16Perlis State Secretary Datuk Rahimi Ismail said the losses were lower than the initial estimate of 230 million ringgit
00:23due to the effectiveness of the Western Flood Diversion System,
00:27which helped reduce flooding in several critical areas.
00:31A total of 38,589 people were affected,
00:36including those who did not evacuate to any of the 24 temporary evacuation centres opened during the disaster.
00:44Rahimi noted that rapid water inflow, especially following the release from Timata Sodam,
00:50submerged many residential areas and paddy fields.
00:53Large-scale clean-up operations were conducted under the Disaster Operations Control Centre.
00:59He added that flood warning systems and emergency preparedness worked effectively,
01:04despite the fast-rising waters.
01:07Cash aid from the National Disaster Management Agency, NADMA,
01:10has also begun, with around one-third of recipients already receiving assistance.
01:16The remainder is expected to be completed within three weeks.
01:19On November 28th, Perlis was reported as the worst-hit state,
01:24with over 7,500 flood victims housed in relief centres,
01:29the highest number among the seven states affected at the time.
01:33But, because I think this is a great deal...
01:37I think it is a great deal of feedback!
01:38I think the vast amount of people have been built in the operations
