Kazakhstan calls on EU to speed up €10 billion Central Asia investments

The EU and Kazakhstan are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Enhanced Cooperation Agreement, with connectivity and critical raw materials as key areas of cooperation.

00:00This December, Kazakhstan and the European Union celebrate 10-year anniversary of the Enhanced Cooperation and Partnership Agreement,
00:07the first of its kind in the region.
00:09Signed in 2015 and ratified in 2020, the agreement covers 29 areas of collaboration from trade to critical raw materials.
00:16But then also areas such as transport, energy, areas such as water, climate change.
00:22We are talking about people-to-people contact.
00:24We are talking about visa facilitation agreement that we plan to sign with Kazakhstan.
00:27The EU is Kazakhstan's largest trading and investment partner, with bilateral trade turnover in 2024, exceeding 40 billion euros.
00:36Investitions from the European Union have made, for all years of independence, 200 billion dollars in the EU.
00:46And all foreign investments, the direct foreign investments, are 400 billion dollars.
00:51So, imagine, half of the investment has made from the European Union.
00:56Kazakhstan is one of Europe's key energy suppliers, providing 13% of oil and 16% of uranium imports.
01:0485% of land transit between Europe and Asia, including the Trans-Caspian transport route, goes through Kazakhstan.
