00:01Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky launched a new regional cooperation framework with seven
00:07neighbouring countries on Friday in an effort to stoke regional investment. The initiative,
00:13dubbed the Carpathian 8 or C-8, brings together Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Poland, Slovakia,
00:20the Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary, with the European Union also taking part.
00:25Zelensky identified transport and logistics, military mobility, critical minerals and trade
00:31and investment as priority areas of cooperation. The Carpathian macro-region is a natural European
00:38gateway for routes coming from the South Caucasus and Asia through the Black Sea. These routes are
00:46active today and they will remain active in the future. According to summit organisers,
00:52some 90 joint projects requiring an estimated 9.4 billion euros in investment were pitched to
00:59investors during the summit.
