A sedan driver's failure to overtake another vehicle is believed to have been the cause of a fatal accident involving a Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) truck at KM 37.8 of Jalan Kota Baru-Kuala Krai, near Bukit Belah, on Thursday (Dec 11).

00:00One Malaysian Armed Forces personnel was killed, and four others were injured after a sedan
00:08attempting to overtake another vehicle collided head-on with an army truck on Thursday evening.
00:15Machang Police Chief Superintendent Ahmad Shafiki Husein said the crash happened at
00:20kilometer 37.8 of Jalan Kota Baru Kuala Krai, near Bukit Bela, at around 6.35 p.m.
00:28The army's three-ton truck, carrying four personnel, including the driver, was traveling
00:34from Tanamera back to Desapalawan camp in Koklanas when the car suddenly veered into the opposite lane.
00:41Preliminary investigations show the sedan driver was trying to overtake another vehicle,
00:47leaving the truck driver with no time to avoid the impact.
00:51One MAF personnel died at the scene.
00:53Three others suffered minor injuries, while the car driver was seriously hurt.
00:59All were taken to Machang Hospital.
01:01Police are investigating the case under Section 41, Subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act, 1987.
