Hundreds of government supporters protested on Saturday (Dec 13) in Caracas against the US seizure of an oil tanker in Caribbean waters, an act the government described as "piracy."

The protest, which was replicated in different cities under the motto "Great National Protests against Yankee Piracy," brought together residents and officials in the La Vega neighbourhood, including the mayor of Caracas, who accused the US government of seeking to take over Venezuela's resources.

01:14The warrant, signed by U.S. Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqi on November 26, allowed the Trump
01:20administration to seize the vessel by the seized date.
01:23It is the first seizure of a Venezuelan oil cargo under U.S. sanctions in force since
01:282019.
01:30The U.S. said the vessel was used to transport sanctioned oil from Venezuela and Iran.
01:36Venezuela's Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López denounced the seizure as an act of piracy.
