00:00Welcome to Gabala. I'm at the heart of Azerbaijan's mountain retreat.
00:12I'm almost 2,000 metres above sea level at the Tafendag Mountain Resort.
00:17It's a place where tranquility meets adventure.
00:23Just a few hours from Baku, Gabala is a world apart,
00:27a mountain region where culture, nature and adventure blend seamlessly.
00:32From winter slopes to summer hikes, this place is alive with energy and calm all at once.
00:39There is something for everyone in each season here.
00:43And Tafendag holds a special blend of the mountains and adrenaline-filled outdoor activities.
00:51It's easy to see why people come here.
00:53The views are incredible and the air just feels different.
00:56But the action also takes place not just here in the mountains,
01:00but in Gabala's valleys and villages too.
01:05Whether you're flying through the air, coming down the mountain on skis,
01:09or using your legs, or even four wheels,
01:12how you get around here is part of the fun.
01:14It's time to leave the peaks behind and head deeper into Gabala's valleys.
01:25After a rather bracing walk up here, you are rewarded with the most stunning views.
01:30Around 30 kilometers away is Nij village.
01:41It's home to the Udi people, one of the world's oldest Christian communities.
01:46They've preserved not only their traditions, but a language spoken by only a few thousand today.
01:51This is one of the most interesting and historical ancient churches here.
01:58It was built in 1823.
02:01Udi tribe is the only tribe that lived in this land,
02:06still saving their religion, their old tradition, and all the ancient values.
02:13And this church is the center of their tradition.
02:19This is the heart of their culture.
02:22This is the heart of their history.
02:23Welcome to Udi Her.
02:28This is a living and breathing museum,
02:31run by the community to keep their culture, history, and heritage alive.
02:37Onların xeyr, şər, mərasimlərin adət ənləri var,
02:40süfrə mədəniyyəti var, onların şirniyyətları,
02:43onların kulinəriyəsi var ki, hansı ki özünə məxsus yemək növləri var.
02:46Onlarla maş etdirilər.
02:48And one thing about food is it transcends language and culture.

03:34at the foothills of the Caucasus Mountains.
03:37Surrounded by rivers on both sides,
03:40this valley has a unique landscape in nature that make it ideal for winemaking.
03:52Harmonia təşkil eləməsi güclü və yüksək keyfiyyətli üzüm əldə etməyə imkan verir.
03:59Şarabın dadına, onun xüsusiyyətlərini təsir edən bu xarakterisk amillər əsasən torpaq, iqlim.
04:06Ən vacib isə bizim torpağa olan, işə olan sevgimiz və hər qiləsində üzümün insan əməyinin duyabilməkdir.
