00:00The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, or MMDA, has implemented several interventions to help prevent heavy traffic along Marcos Highway,
00:08including the reconfiguration of several U-turn slots to ensure smoother and faster vehicular movement.
00:14Bernard Ferrer has the full report.
00:18The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, or MMDA, has replaced concrete barriers with plastic barriers at the intersection of Marcos Highway,
00:26particularly at Hill Fernando Avenue and Felix Avenue.
00:30According to MMDA chairman Romando Don Artes, the goal is to allow the intersection to be opened more quickly in case heavy traffic occurs this Christmas season,
00:39helping prevent a possible Carmageddon.
00:41The MMDA is also fixing several U-turn slots in the area and will install additional traffic signages to guide motorists.
00:48The MMDA and concerned LGUs are set to sign an inter-agency memorandum agreement to strengthen coordination, including the harmonization of track month schedules.
00:58LGUs will also coordinate with various subdivisions to allow some private motorists to pass through their internal roads.
01:05The MMDA has also issued an appeal to malls located along Marcos Highway.
01:40Meanwhile, the Department of Transportation will offer free rides on the LRT and MRT for selected sectors over a 12-day period,
01:47from December 14 to December 25.
01:50The LRT-1 has also launched Kasakaysayan, an advocacy project aimed at providing passengers with additional knowledge
01:56about the history of the areas covered by the train line, especially the stations from which their names were derived.
02:03On December 25, the MRT-3 will begin deploying its second-generation trains, commonly known as Adalian trains.
