CUTE ENCOUNTER WITH ENDANGERED SEA LIONS
WITH VID
BY SALONI MATHUR
Watch these adorable seal lions interact with a deep-sea diver and curiously approach her.
Mai Roper, 26, went diving with her camera equipment in Jurien Bay, Australia, to capture some beautiful sealife.
During her dive, she found two seal pups playing with each other.
These curious cubs approached and explored her camera gear, one almost shoving its entire face in the lens.
These were Australian Sea Lions, they are one of the world's most endangered pinnipeds, listed as Endangered globally (IUCN) and nationally.
There are only around 10,000-12,000 individuals left, primarily in South Australia and Western Australia, facing threats from human activities.
And they are declining by about 3% annually, prompting urgent conservation efforts like marine sanctuaries.
Mai said: “You need to add swimming with endangered Australian sea lions to your ocean bucket list right now!
“One of my favourite marine life moments to date, all thanks to Jurien Bay Oceanic team.
“You can hear my happy squeals in the video because how cute are these two males as they dance around together?!”
