00:18Hampshire Police Emergency. How can I help?
00:20I just heard, well, I think it's two gunshots.
00:25ARV has straight to the address.
00:27Half the mile.
00:29Yep, they're on the floor, it's blood.
00:32ARBs are literally about three, four minutes an hour.
00:35Let's look.
00:36Mel's starting the head, bleeding out.
00:40All ARBs are in the air, it's just a couple of hours inside.
00:4415.
00:45First aid.
00:46First aid.
00:48First aid.
00:49First aid.
00:50Yep, open the plug.
00:55Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:56Can you hear me? Can you hear me?
00:58Clear.
00:59Let them sort up first.
01:01Jesus Christ.
01:03Instant death.
01:05Let's just keep going.
01:07Whose house is this?
01:09OK, who are you to him?
01:10Neither.
01:11My room.
01:12Right, clear.
01:13Left, clear.
01:14Can you do something?
01:16I'll be honest.
01:17Yeah.
01:18There's no problem.
01:19There's no problem working.
01:20If injuries aren't compatible with life, mate, you need to make that assessment.
01:23Are you happy with just two of you on the body, mate?
01:27Yeah.
01:28Just two of you straight in, then.
01:29Can you come out?
01:30There's outward face in case he comes back, all right?
01:40Loaded.
01:42Absolutely hopeless.
01:43There's nothing that can be done here.
01:45We've got a white Peugeot, it's all we've got so far.
01:49Er, it was, I think it was 207 or 307.
01:52Yep.
01:53AK-14.
01:54Yep.
01:55Or AX-14.
01:56Oh, let's see.
01:58Can I pass the update at this stage, please?
02:01Go ahead.
02:02From Ava's victim's name, Josh.
02:05In relation to the subject vehicle, it's either Alpha X-ray 1-4 or Alpha Kilo 1-4.
02:11White Peugeot.
02:12Yeah, that's all we see, mate.
02:14Thank you, mate.
02:15Police emergency, how can I help?
02:16My husband's come home, outside on the gravel are two shotgun pellets and we can't find our
02:25neighbor.
02:26It's all part six, what's wrong?
02:28Stand by, I've got a linked incident coming through.
02:31You're in there.
02:32Hi, he's dead.
02:33He's dead.
02:34He's dead.
02:35We've got a local unit there, I've got a linked incident coming in now, 464.
02:39Got another address.
02:40Michelle's fired.
02:41The one who's stuck in Michelle's fired.
02:42That's copy to ALV1, immediate to that location, please.
02:47We're coming as well.
02:48What is going on?
02:53It's crucial that we find the truth.
03:03Hands on your back.
03:06Got to question everything, believe nobody.
03:10It's almost a game of chess, trying to get him to slip up.
03:14This is your opportunity to talk to me.
03:17I think we're fairly unprecedented up here.
03:27We're getting multiple addresses with shots fired.
03:30Can I get support, please?
03:31Just up to an area of Cambridgeshire, please.
03:36317, just arrived at the first address without seeing preservation.
03:42Starts right?
03:44Victims right in the hallway.
03:45Injury's not compatible where life is.
03:47Just give us an error, we'll head off.
03:49The victim at the first address in Bluntisham
03:52is believed to be 32-year-old Joshua Dunmore.
03:56I've got family and friends turning up.
03:58I've just had a phone call off someone saying
04:02that they've heard that something's gone on with Josh,
04:05so I'm his best friend, obviously, so I've come straight in.
04:07OK.
04:10Hello, mate.
04:11Nice to meet you.
04:12OK.
04:13I can't allow you in at the moment.
04:15Who's it?
04:16Is it Josh?
04:17Has his dad been called?
04:18Our name is not answering.
04:19Is he in the ambulance?
04:20No.
04:21Can you just help me, please?
04:23The person's deceased within that address.
04:25This is Darren.
04:26Josh, he's the brother.
04:27This is what?
04:28Can I send him?
04:29Of course you can.
04:30Just stay calm, mate.
04:31Just stay calm.
04:32I'm going to tell his dad now, OK?
04:33I've got to ring the brother.
04:34I'm really sorry.
04:35It's all right.
04:36If you can stand here with me.
04:37The person's object's on.
04:39The person's got someone.
04:40I'm going to say a bad guy.
04:41You're right, mate.
04:42Just stay calm, mate.
04:43I'm going to tell his dad now, OK?
04:44I've got to ring the brother.
04:45I'm really sorry.
04:46It's all right.
04:47If you can stand here with me.
04:48I'm really sorry.
04:49It's all right, if you can stand here with me.
04:57I'll speak to Matt's arrived at the second address.
05:01Apparently, there is a deceased now at the address.
05:05The victim at the moment is unidentified.
05:09We believe in suspects in the possession of a shotgun.
05:13Immediate kind of actions for you guys to confirm
05:16and we've got no other injured parties.
05:18No one else around that address presenting any imminent threat to life.
05:21Did you get anything from the bin?
05:24Hello mate, can you hear me?
05:25Hello, can you hear me?
05:26Not compatible.
05:27We're here to support.
05:28Say not compatible again.
05:29Not compatible.
05:30Roger.
05:31We're here to support if you need to.
05:32Do it on your own if you can, yeah?
05:33I'll hold downstairs.
05:34Don't you work upstairs.
05:38I have E3.
05:41Two shotgun shells here.
05:43Two shotgun shells at the location.
05:45A vehicle not here.
05:46ARV1 doing an emergency search in the property.
05:50Oh, police!
05:51Anyone in the building?
05:53Okay, did you take right?
05:54Yeah.
05:55Okay, open door left step.
05:58You all right?
06:00Room's clear.
06:02What we're hearing is injuries not compatible with life.
06:05Second deceased male.
06:07My room.
06:09Room clear.
06:10Room clear.
06:11Happy house, Lear?
06:12Happy.
06:13Yeah.
06:14Subject vehicle.
06:15Left location.
06:16Approximately 1-5, 15 minutes ago.
06:21It's a bit surreal, isn't it?
06:22Two minutes ago, I was watching that.
06:27I'd advise not contacting them at all.
06:29I'm just trying to get hold of my brother, okay?
06:30I understand that, but...
06:31It's his son.
06:32Okay.
06:33Okay.
06:54Our victims look like they are family.
06:56Yeah, I do understand it.
06:57The father and his son have already been murdered.
07:00I'm going to need to keep you here, okay?
07:01Yeah, okay.
07:03I know this is a big shock, and I know it's a lot to take in.
07:07There's someone at Gary's address.
07:08Is it my brother?
07:10Sorry?
07:11Are the police at Gary's?
07:12The police are at Gary's address.
07:13Yes.
07:14Is it Gary there?
07:15Yes.
07:16Is he okay?
07:17Yes.
07:18I'm wrong, God.
07:19What?
07:20Is he...
07:21Yes.
07:22No.
07:23I don't know him.
07:24I'm really sorry.
07:25I can't lie to you.
07:26Fucking hell.
07:27He's definitely dead.
07:28Yes.
07:29I'm so sorry.
07:30I need a...
07:31It's my brother.
07:32I know.
07:34I'm...
07:35I'm...
07:36I'm...
07:37I'm...
07:38I'm...
07:39I'm...
07:40I'm...
07:41I'm...
07:42I'm...
07:43I'm...
07:44I'm...
07:45I'm...
07:46I'm...
07:53I put a full message across North and South.
07:55No use to go home.
07:57MC, you will be aware of this.
08:00Yes, yes.
08:01Send everyone's headquarters, please, and we'll freak in there.
08:04OK.
08:17This one is really savage, savage.
08:21Scenes then, let's just bottom off the witnesses and the sigmets we were going to try and get.
08:26So, scene one, which is Joshua's house.
08:32There's a few people that are saying they heard the bangs.
08:36Everybody's saying two shots within about four seconds of each other.
08:42Jake, he's saying he heard noises outside, saw the gunman at 19 with a gun, and then he found the body.
08:49So, it's a secret to be done.
08:52Scene two, which is Gary's house.
08:56Joe, um, he noticed a bit of the background and saw a white Peugeot driving away.
09:03Apparently, there was a domestic-related court case, and there's been disgruntled arguments around that.
09:15So, we make some inquiries, and then we can... we can progress that.
09:19If you know who he's on dispute with, you need to tell me.
09:23I don't know his name. I find out he's American.
09:25American forces.
09:26He's married to Sam.
09:28Josh's ex.
09:29OK, there is a dispute.
09:30Yeah.
09:31Josh won the case.
09:32Yeah.
09:33They weren't happy.
09:38I'm being told from scene that there was a court case which the ex-partner lost,
09:41and the male at Buridan first won the court case.
09:44They're saying that the new partner lost it in court, and they think it's connected.
09:49The male's got short, dark hair, and I've been given a name of Paul Stevens.
09:53A possible suspect, which is our Paul Stevens, which is an American serviceman.
10:00They're trying to establish more around him, whether he's on the base, whether he has the firearms,
10:05whether he has any specialist firearms training.
10:08It's a bit concerning he's reloaded that before he's left.
10:12Mm-hm.
10:13Surely can't be going to do another one.
10:17How's he going to end this, bro?
10:18Where's this going to end?
10:19Thank you. Can you ask the family?
10:20You just know the two people.
10:21Yeah.
10:22What do you do now?
10:23The area that we need to be aware of, do you know?
10:25I've got my own ideas on how it is.
10:26What do you do?
10:27I'm thinking that the car's going to be burnt out in the next 10 minutes.
10:28No, I disagree.
10:29Yeah, yeah.
10:30I think you know what I think.
10:31Yeah, I know, but I'm just trying to think where do you go from here.
10:33Just to make your way, mate, I've got another one coming in.
10:35Four, seven, nine.
10:36Shots fired.
10:37Jeez, is that changing things?
10:38Uh, so we're going to end.
10:39We're going to end.
10:40We're going to end.
10:41We're going to end.
10:42We're going to end.
10:43We're going to end.
10:44We're going to end.
10:45We're going to end.
10:46We're going to end.
10:47We're going to end.
10:48I've got another one coming in.
10:49Four, seven, nine.
10:50Shots fired.
10:51Jeez, that's changing things.
10:52Er, something's happening.
10:53He's going around on a vendetta.
10:55Location booth.
10:58Luncheon.
10:59Press is close.
11:00Luncheon.
11:01Guys, I've got some information.
11:04I need to get you out of here now.
11:06Is he coming back here?
11:07I need to get you out of here now.
11:08I want you all in your cars, and I want you all to the police station now.
11:12Right, just get in your cars.
11:14Get in your cars, please, and go to the police station.
11:16Go to the police station now.
11:17Get in any car.
11:18Don't mind which car.
11:19Just get in cars and go.
11:21Just get in the car and go.
11:23Just get in the car and go.
11:37We have now got engine mass lifting.
11:39They're 23 minutes out.
11:44All units are deployed to track down the gunman on the run.
11:45It's the only
12:11to track down the gunman on the run.
12:18Yes, yes, go ahead.
12:22You need to do a very good sweep and check that there is nobody
12:25in any obvious location around the screen there in the western.
12:30I don't like this. No, it'll be all right.
12:32I don't like it one bit.
12:34As armed officers continue the manhunt...
12:37Hello there, it's the police.
12:39The victim's family must be placed in protective custody
12:42for their own safety.
12:43We have information to suggest there's an immediate risk of harm to you
12:46and we need to get you to a place of safety.
12:49We're in the park area of Mill Lane.
12:55Just clear this little bit here.
12:57Just want to get behind these trees.
13:09A man in the park.
13:11Just a step in.
13:12We're in the park area of Mill Lane.
13:14Rain passes, wire four.
13:15Ten passes, wire four, go ahead.
13:17Fire four, the recreation ground off Mill Lane is negative.
13:20There's no one.
13:22This is a park...
13:23at the surrounding roads and tracks.
13:25Hello, Romeo, 153.
13:32153, go ahead.
13:34Are you at the police station with all of the family members so far?
13:38Be good.
13:39Have a seat in here.
13:42I'm not sure how much has been passed to you,
13:44and how much you're aware of.
13:47About my brother and my dad have been shot.
13:50Okay.
13:52In their own homes.
13:55I was like, Andrew, you probably don't know.
14:00Have they found anybody?
14:01Yeah, have they found him?
14:03I don't know.
14:04I thought I was so big on this.
14:09I really loved God.
14:11They were still like, like, I don't know how to.
14:15I grew up being friends with Josh.
14:19He was a very, very nice man.
14:21I spoke to my dad, everybody.
14:24Yeah.
14:25Like, every day.
14:25Yeah.
14:26Still in shock, so.
14:27Yeah.
14:28You know, um, yeah.
14:30I think he'd be very old if you weren't.
14:32You can hear me now.
14:33Go, you know, my mum.
14:35My mum.
14:35My poor, poor boy.
14:45You could do such a thing.
14:47With the family safely secured at Huntingdon Police Station, officers continue the manhunt led by Cambridgeshire Police's Oscar 1.
15:00Cam's Oscar 1.
15:01I've got a job going on now.
15:03Someone's potentially in possession of a lethal weapon.
15:06Got inquiries going on with this Paul Stevens and trying to establish further details of the car.
15:13Standby.
15:14I'm getting possible to index the suspect vehicle.
15:20It's showing as a Mr. Steve Alderton.
15:24Is the suspect not called Paul Stevens?
15:27So, Samantha Alderton, which is now Stevens, is the ex-partner of Joshua Dunmore.
15:36So, I think that Steven Alderton is probably her dad and Paul Stevens is her new partner.
15:43Has dad got a firearms certificate?
15:46I've got some information in town.
15:48Yeah.
15:49My basic sort of theory would be that Paul out doing his murders in conjunction with Steven or Paul on his own.
15:57As of 2341, Paul Stevens' phone, the phone, is pinging in the Holiday Inn.
16:10Confirmed there is a room booked for Paul Stevens at the Holiday Inn.
16:14And there's two vehicles registered there as well.
16:19If he's there, I would lift him for conspiracy to murder.
16:22Occupents believe to be in room 319.
16:29Mr. Paul Stevens, who is an American serviceman.
16:33That's amazing, please.
16:34Possibly, he's still in possession of a firearm.
16:37Right.
16:38Positions and settle.
16:39Just settle, OK?
16:40Are we looking at arresting both Paul Stevens and wife Samantha Stevens for conspiracy to commit murder?
16:46Yeah, but that's all ratified.
16:49Please.
16:50Containment's in place on room 319.
16:54When us one's happy, we'll begin the call out.
16:57He's happy for you to move forward.
16:59That's all we...
17:00We're happy.
17:02Let's be robust with Paul.
17:04Yeah.
17:07Police!
17:08Occupants of 319, come to the door with nothing in your hands.
17:11Paul, it's armed police.
17:13Open the door with nothing in your hands.
17:17And listen to my instructions.
17:20Slowly.
17:21Hands.
17:21Slowly, Paul.
17:23Walk out towards me.
17:25Keep walking.
17:26Turn to face them.
17:27Listen to their instructions.
17:28Paul, put your hands against the wall.
17:30Hands against the wall.
17:31Don't move.
17:37Quiet perjure.
17:38Confirm that's not been located at the address.
17:40Just confirm we've got contact with Paul and Samantha.
17:51Yes, sir.
17:55With the offender's vehicle still not located,
17:58officers take a statement from Joshua Dunmore's neighbour,
18:01who phoned in the first murder.
18:03As I come out of my front door,
18:06I see a guy coming out of my neighbour's house.
18:09I turn round and said to him,
18:10what the fuck are you doing?
18:12He then turned round and pointed a shotgun at me
18:15and told me that he was loaded.
18:19What I need to say to you is really important.
18:24Two persons have been murdered this evening.
18:25I'm arresting both of you.
18:27And we need to arrange childcare,
18:29so we'll childcare for the children.
18:31OK.
18:31Samantha, what we'll do,
18:32yourself and the children
18:33are just going to go and wait back in the room.
18:36Is that your switch in the hotel room?
18:39Yes.
18:40Do you want to come in and show me what games you've got?
18:42Come on, Samantha, we'll...
18:43OK, kids coming up.
18:46Hello, mate.
18:47Go on then.
18:47What games you've got?
18:50Me.
18:51Oh, you're lucky, boy.
18:52This is the big switch, isn't it?
18:56We can also do piano.
19:00OK, can you play piano?
19:05You can play the piano.
19:07It's very good, mate.
19:10Hi, you all right?
19:11Are you guys CRD?
19:12Yeah.
19:13So we've got him upstairs now, Paul.
19:14They've both been lifted.
19:15They're both devastated, crying their hearts out,
19:17but you would do, wouldn't you?
19:19Samantha, if you've done nothing wrong,
19:21you've got nothing to worry about.
19:23The last thing we ever do
19:24is take children away from their parents.
19:27But police stations aren't a nice place to go.
19:29And in the long run,
19:30you will appreciate a childcare solution.
19:34We need somebody that you would trust
19:36in the very short term.
19:38Is there anyone you can think of at all?
19:40I have a three.
19:45Go ahead, I have a three.
19:47In the interim,
19:48are you happy that the children are going to
19:49dad's cousins in Bristol?
19:52I have a few points
19:53that the children need to go straight into
19:55emergency foster placements.
19:57People that don't know
19:58what the dynamics of the family set up is currently.
20:01We've got the kids,
20:05they want to bring them down,
20:06we can then get them in the car
20:07and get them away.
20:08How are you, mate?
20:09You all right?
20:12That's your pistachy, isn't it?
20:14Very.
20:15The guy was agitated,
20:21but he wasn't out of control.
20:24And at that point,
20:25I realised he can show me.
20:29He was five foot eight,
20:32five foot ten,
20:34medium build.
20:37He was about my age,
20:38maybe a little bit older.
20:44Oh, boys.
20:45Stephen's still out standing
20:46and so is that vehicle
20:47that was at both scenes.
20:48So I think
20:49as soon as I can,
20:50I want to get away
20:50and get looking for Stephen again.
20:56Just spoken to the next door neighbours
20:58of first victim's address
21:00and they said that
21:01they've seen an older male
21:02looking through the victim's letterbox
21:04just before this incident happened.
21:09In relation to this

22:04they confirmed
22:05that Stephen Alderton

22:13He lived there alone
22:14and it was on a rolling month basis.
22:17This evening,
22:19they see a white car

22:22and they see

22:52that the suspect
22:53has been involved
22:54in a murder
22:55of two miles
22:57from a colleague.
22:58We believe we've got

25:25OK, let's get the vehicle cleared!
25:27What's your name?
25:29My name is Steve Alderman.
25:30Steve Alderman.
25:34Is there anybody else in that vehicle?
25:36OK, let's get the vehicle cleared!
25:38OK, let's get out of the car!
25:39OK, let's get out of the car!
25:40Here for support, if you need it!
25:41Yes, for that!

25:44Yes!
25:44What have you got?
25:45I've got a shotgun!
25:46I've got a shotgun!
25:47Shotgun!
25:48He's in the vehicle, fellas!

25:58Oh, face isn't here!
26:01It's not easy!
26:03Oh, your jeans don't look tough!
26:07At this moment it's time!
26:08You under arrest the suspicion of murder!
26:11Do you understand?
26:14It is at the moment, yeah, it is!
26:16Don't show this bit on TV!
26:23I'm sorry!
26:26With all three suspects detained,
26:29officers speak to the victim's family and friends
26:32to better understand the family dynamics
26:34in the run-up to the murders.
26:36So part of what I've been talking to you
26:38is just for us to try and sort of gather a bit of a picture.
26:42What's your understanding of the court case?
26:44We've worked out.
26:45What's that?
26:46A court case?
26:48Well, my brother started it three to four years ago.
26:51Oh, that's a long while.
26:52It's a long time.
26:53Josh, obviously, has a son
26:55with Sam.
26:59Now, they split up.
27:00Sam remarried an American Air Force airman, Paul.
27:07She met Paul at the base.
27:09They got together and had a baby.
27:12So she has a daughter with Paul
27:15and a son with Josh.
27:19Paul is posted back to the States.
27:22She was going to move to America with Paul.
27:26And so basically there's a court case going on
27:28to try and prevent her from taking the son to America.
27:31Just follow around to that officer there for us, please.
27:42Me too, Juan.
27:43Stephen Alderton is brought to Worcester Police Station.
27:46Good morning.
27:47Good morning.
27:48What's your name, sir?
27:49Stephen Alderton.
27:50Stephen Alderton.
27:52With a V or PH?
27:53A PH.
27:55Do you suffer with any mental health issues like anxiety, depression?
28:00I don't think so.
28:01I mean, I would probably say there's a sort of degree of stress, anxiety.
28:09How are you feeling at the moment in yourself?
28:12Well, I mean, it's not exactly the best day.
28:16No.
28:18So how are you feeling?
28:19How are you?
28:20Oh, I mean, I'm not going to do anything.
28:21I'm not going to try and, you know, pop myself or anything else like that.
28:25So the circumstances, please?
28:28The gentleman has been identified as being wanted and suspicion of murder.
28:32Is it domestic related?
28:34Sort of.
28:35Is it domestic?
28:36No.
28:37No.
28:38No.
28:39No.
28:40No.
28:41No.
28:42No.
28:43No.
28:44No.
28:45No.
28:46No.
28:50Stephen Alderton will be held until the morning, when he will be taken to Cambridgeshire,
28:55where all three suspects will be questioned on the murders.
29:05It's shocking news this morning.
29:12A murder investigation is underway after two shootings in Cambridgeshire villages last night.
29:18A 57-year-old man was shot dead in Sutton and a 32-year-old man in Blundersham.
29:23Police were called to this quiet close where I am at the moment in the small village of Blundersham in Cambridgeshire.
29:30You've got the blood which is on the floor there.
29:32So I'm just going to record that and swab it.
29:35Not even an hour later, police were called to be done.
29:39He was there, let over in towards the radiator.
29:44The shots were the first thing, which I'm assuming is from the first shot.
29:48Yes, that is the first shot.
29:49And I think that he potentially maybe grabbed the barrel as it came through the door.
29:55It just feels a bit weird that it was like that.
29:57Number two went in his body, three and four, while he's on the floor.
30:01We collected the shot pellets from the wall and the staircase, as many as we could.
30:08The tiny, tiny little pellets, the tiniest ones I've ever seen.
30:11Yeah.
30:17Do we know, I mean, did Alderton regularly attend a gun club or anything, shooting range or anything like that? Do we know?
30:23I think he was kind of doing like clay pigeon shooting.
30:27Yeah.
30:28But it wasn't like a regular hobby.
30:32Pretty sure these cartridges as well were kind of clay pigeon shooting cartridges.
30:36Right, okay.
30:37Yeah, we have his gun licensing on the, on the GP records.
30:40Yeah.
30:41And when you get your license refreshed, you have to get a note signed by a GP saying...
30:45So you've got no mental health illnesses and stuff like that.
30:48There's a doctor's report in that bundle.
30:50Yeah, exactly.
30:51A full GP report.
30:52August 2022, no acute stress reactions, no suicidal thoughts, self-harm, no depression, no psychosis, no personality disorder.
31:01The officer in the case, Detective Constable Claire Atkinson, reviews body-worn footage of Stephen Alderton following his arrest.
31:18I don't live in a trap, you know.
31:20It's a, you know.
31:21It's a, you know.
31:22It's a, you know.
31:23It's a, you know.
31:24It's a, you know.
31:25It's a, you know.
31:26It's a, you know.
31:27It's a, you know.
31:28It's a, you know.
31:29Yeah.
31:30It actually makes me angry to watch it.
31:33It's so, blase.
31:36It wasn't for wear.
31:39It appears to be on the street.
31:45It's a little sort of sick, you know.
31:47It's been years ahead, it could get that chest of me.
31:50Deep, deep and trashy stuff.
31:53It's just...
31:57It's horrible, it's horrible to watch.
31:59It's just thinking that someone can be like that straight after they do something.
32:02It's, like, horrific.
32:03Twice.
32:04Twice.
32:16While Steven Alderton is processed through custody, detectives prepare to interview his daughter,
32:21Samantha and her husband, Paul.
32:23So where do you want that?
32:24So that needs to be first, isn't it?
32:26Yeah.
32:27And in her understanding of conspiracy?
32:29Yes.
32:30So that's all covered?
32:31Yeah, that's all covered.
32:32I'm going to just cover, as well, any correspondence with Dad.
32:36On Monday the 27th of March was court day, wasn't it?
32:39This week, Josh and my Dad and my Mum, they've all been to court.
32:45And they've had a good court session where my brother's son, he's got to stay.
32:54Sam and Paul sort of lost their battle, I suppose.
32:58And they were both extremely annoyed about their outcome from that court.
33:15So this interview is being recorded and it may be used in evidence if your case is brought to trial.
33:20Today, Paul, you've been arrested for an offence of conspiracy to murder.
33:27A conspiracy is where two or more people discuss an offence that's going to take place.
33:33Samantha, you are being interviewed in relation to conspiracy to murder.
33:39On Monday the 27th of March, 2023, you attended a family court hearing custody of your son,
33:46who you shared with Joshua Dunmore.
33:48Then, on Wednesday the 29th of March, 2023, Joshua Dunmore was shot and murdered at his home address.
33:55On the same day, Gary Dunmore was shot and murdered at his home address.
34:00So you're saying to me, the first time you were aware that something had happened
34:04was when the police came to the Holiday Inn this morning,
34:07and you're saying you are not implicated that in any way.
34:10If we understand if this is correct, yours and Sam's plan is to start a life in America.
34:19And, obviously, the problem you've got is being co-parents, being Josh,
34:23and they don't want him to go to America by the sound of it.
34:27We've disclosed to your solicitor that Steve has also been arrested,
34:31and that at the time of his arrest there was a shotgun in his car.
34:34The clear implication in our minds is that Steve has committed this offence.
34:42I think what we're asking is, can you understand why he would go and do this?
34:46Hello.
35:02You all right? To me, please.
35:04Hello, sir. Over to me, please.
35:06Over here, yeah.
35:07It's a bit confusing with all these screens, isn't it?
35:09Yeah, no, no, no, it's fine.
35:11Yeah, it's fine.
35:12On to, have you got an interview update?
35:15OK, so we've written a deal from Paul.
35:17He's very upset about what's happened.
35:19He was in tears in the interview,
35:21and he said that everything was OK in relation to the situation with Joshua.
35:27There's been various court hearings over a period of time.
35:30The one that occurred this Monday,
35:32basically they're saying that no decision was made.
35:35In relation to Stephen, he'd come to the hotel that evening with them after court,
35:41and was being very helpful, very logical about it,
35:44was putting forward ideas about how they could solve the situation.
35:48There was no inkling, as far as Paul was concerned,
35:51as to what was happening in course, obviously, last night.
35:56Samantha's account is very similar.
35:59She's obviously very upset about what's happened.
36:02She said that she'd spoken to Stephen about it on the Monday after the hearing,
36:07and although he was disappointed with it, he seemed pretty OK.
36:14Stephen, do you want anyone told that you're here at the playstation?
36:18Well, I probably need to notify my daughter.
36:23She said originally she didn't have a great deal to do with her dad,
36:27but their relationship only kind of really formed after her mum died in December of 2019.
36:34He meets her every single morning at the hotel,
36:39so she said he gets up early, he always has done,
36:42and he meets them there.
36:46OK, Stephen, do you mind just giving me a signature on the pad there,
36:48just between the white lines?
36:50Just make sure you're in between the white lines,
36:52so it hasn't quite registered.
36:53Just in between the white lines, Stephen,
36:55I think it might have just been a bit underneath.
36:58Oh, there?
36:59Yeah, so actually in between the white lines.
37:01Oh, in there, yeah.
37:02OK, there you go.
37:04There we go.
37:07On the day, the 29th,
37:10they spent most of the day where Paul works,
37:13and then got a call from Stephen.
37:15Stephen was due to pick up the child from school,
37:18but Stephen said that he couldn't do it for whatever reason.
37:24He said he was busy.
37:26The last one they saw Stephen, they were at McDonald's Wednesday afternoon,
37:33and he dropped off a buggy for them.
37:38She said that she had no contact with her dad that evening,
37:41so that's their last contact they had with him,
37:43and that's about 2.45 in the afternoon.
37:47And she says he kind of sort of races away.
37:49She's really shocked.
37:51I mean, as far as she's concerned,
37:52they've put things in place,
37:53whatever the eventuality was going to be,
37:55whether they got custody,
37:57whether they didn't get custody.
37:59She's got no reason to lie, I don't think.
38:03Do you want some socks?
38:04Oh, yeah.
38:05I've got some socks.
38:06Yeah, thank you.
38:07Do they not give you any socks in Westminster?
38:08No, no.
38:09Just give a...
38:10No, we'll give you some socks.
38:11That's not a problem.
38:12Yeah, well, actually, I mean,
38:13I mean, having never been to the police station,
38:14I thought they actually do.
38:15They're doing quite a nice...
38:16There you go, mate.
38:17Oh, what's the socks?
38:18So I've had a chelsea.
38:19Yeah, well, actually, I mean,
38:20I mean, having never been to the police station,
38:21I thought they actually do.
38:22They're doing quite a nice...
38:23There you go, mate.
38:24There you go, mate.
38:25What's the socks?
38:26So I've had a chelsea with CBS, they're engaged.
38:35So, obviously, we've got an interview of Stephen tonight.
38:40Yeah.
38:41I hope you learn about a count.
38:42Maybe, obviously, if he does talk in an interview,
38:45it may be a case of actually we can go to CBS.
38:53Come and take a seat here, Bobby.
38:55I'm going to take a seat in the corner there.
38:57I'm going to make the presumption
38:59you've not been in a police station
39:01or interviewed by the police before.
39:03No.
39:04Yeah, that's what I thought.
39:07I've not sat across the table from somebody
39:10who's just shot two people in the head before.
39:17A retired professional
39:19who's never been in trouble with the police,
39:21that's not who you expect to sit across from
39:24when you're asking them about executing two people
39:26on their doorsteps.
39:32Do you understand what offence you've been arrested for today?
39:36Erm...
39:37Can I stop you there?
39:38I'll remind you of your right to silence.
39:39Oh, no comment.
39:40No comment.
39:42So, you understand you've been arrested for an offence of murder, OK?
39:48Are you saying no comment because you are responsible for the murder
39:54and you have no explanation to give?
39:57No comment.
39:58Are there any questions that I could ask that you would answer at the moment?
40:04Oh, I don't know what questions you would be asking.
40:07I could only respond to that based on the question that you put to me.
40:12Tell me about your relationship with Samantha.
40:16Er, no comment.
40:17Is she your daughter?
40:20No comment.
40:22Are these murders related to Samantha and Paul?
40:26No comment.
40:30The thought process, this is started from the family court hearing.
40:36Is this what's led to Joshua and Gary being shot?
40:41Is that accurate?
40:43Er, no comment.
40:45Is this a plan to clear the way so that Samantha can move really to America?
40:53No comment.
40:58The grandchildren, they've been taken into what we call protective custody
41:02and that's mainly because there's nobody to look after them.
41:06Yes, all I would say to respond to that is, you know...
41:12You don't need to account for that.
41:15Er, no comment.
41:20Not only are you here on suspicion of committing two violent murders,
41:33but your daughter and your son-in-law are also in custody under investigation
41:43for conspiring because we don't know what's going on.
41:48If your daughter and son-in-law have nothing to do with it,
41:53we don't want to keep them here any longer than is necessary.
41:56So I can only plead to you to talk to us.
42:04Yeah, I mean...
42:07My only concern is what you've said there is...
42:11I'll stop you there.
42:12They have had their own interviews to give their own accounts.
42:15Now, Stephen, I appreciate that you've been given legal advice
42:21not to answer any of our questions.
42:24But it is just that. It's advice.
42:26And it is for you to choose whether to take it or not.
42:29Ultimately, this is your opportunity to explain what happened and why.
42:35Yeah, um...
42:38This is your Englishman's...
42:39No comment.
42:40Yeah.
42:42OK.
42:44OK.
42:45Right.
42:47In that case, I propose that we look at concluding the interview.
42:50OK?
42:52So the time by my watch is now 29 minutes past midnight
42:55and I'm concluding the interview.
42:58Right, he's not going to talk.
43:04He's been given his legal advice.
43:06I'm not going to push it.
43:08Let him think that that is the end
