Archaeologists uncover intact section of ancient Jerusalem wall from Hanukkah era

Archaeologists have uncovered the longest intact section of Jerusalem’s ancient Hasmonean wall, likely linked to events following the Hanukkah story. The structure may offer evidence of a 2,100-year-old ceasefire and will become part of a new gallery at the Tower of David Museum.

00:29One week ago, it's the most longest and preserved section of this ancient and massive walls in Jerusalem.
00:39And something very strange happened to it.
00:43If you look at the wall, it was raised to the ground.
00:47And it's not during the time or during the history or during the periods.
00:52It's something that was done deliberately.
00:55It's like a chiropractic destruction.
00:58Someone raised it to the ground.
01:01And us, as the archaeologists of the Israeli Antiquity Authority, we needed to give some kind of explanation.
01:08Who did it and why?
01:10And why to destroy such a massive and beautiful wall?
01:14Our mission is to tell the story of Jerusalem, and this is going to be the new part of the museum.
01:39As you can see, we're privileged to live inside history and archaeology.
01:46This is a very unique building.
01:48The Tower of David and the Kishle is also part of the uniqueness of the sites.
01:54We, after the archaeologists, want to tell the story to the world.
01:58So, laying on the rich archaeology, we are going to add floating glass floor.
