00:00The Department of Agriculture has raised the maximum suggested retail price for red onions.

00:05From 120 pesos, the MSRP jumped to 150 pesos per kilo.

00:11According to DA Secretary Francisco Tulaurel, this increase is due to lack of onions supply.

00:18The landed cost of price of imported onions from China and other countries also increased,

00:23accompanied by the weakness of peso against dollar.

00:26The DA has already coordinated with importers to pass on red onions at a lower price

00:32so that retailers can comply with the MSRP.

00:36The agri-chief warns that business owners who do not follow the set price

00:40may be issued with show-cause orders and possibly face a profiteering case.

00:45The DA is collaborating with the Department of Trade and Industry and Philippine National Police

00:50to effectively implement the MSRP on onions.
