00:00The maximum suggested retail price, or MSRP, for imported red onions is set for implementation this month.

00:07In an ambush interview last week, Agriculture Secretary Francisco Chiu Laurel Jr. said

00:12that imported red onions should not be sold for more than 120 pesos per kilo.

00:18He said it is clearly profiteering to sell it at 250 to 300 pesos.

00:23The Department of Agriculture, or DA, assures that they will conduct strict monitoring and supply tracing,

00:29especially since it is holiday season already.

00:32Penalties that may be imposed under the Price Act are also being studied with the help of the Department of Trade and Industry.

00:40The DA Secretary also called for the public to report such abuses.
