00:01Phoenix Suns center Mark Williams has expressed how comfortable he feels with his new team.
00:05Let me break down what he shared. In an interview with Arizona Sports Burns and Gambo on Tuesday,
00:10Williams said, I love it here in Phoenix. It's felt like home since I've been here,
00:15and I've been working super hard, and the staff has done a great job with me keeping me on the
00:19floor. This feeling of being at home comes after a challenging period. Last season, while with the
00:24Charlotte Hornets, Williams' year was hampered by injuries, limiting him to playing in only 44
00:31games. His journey to Phoenix wasn't straightforward. First, on February 6th, he was part of a trade to
00:38the Los Angeles Lakers. The deal included sending Dalton Echt, Cam Reddish, one unprotected first-round
00:45pick, and one first-round pick swap to Charlotte. However, that trade was rescinded two days later
00:50because Williams failed a physical examination. After the season ended, Williams had a feeling
00:56another move was coming. He was right. On June 30th, he was traded to the Phoenix Suns in exchange
01:01for a package that included a 20-29 first-round pick. Williams commented on this saying,
01:07After the season ended, in Charlotte, I kind of already made the assumption I was going to get
01:12traded. For me, I kind of already was in that mind space that I wasn't going to be in Charlotte anymore,
01:17so I was kind of already past that. His performance in Phoenix is speaking for itself.
01:22In 20 games so far this season, he is averaging 13.2 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game.
01:30He's coming off a strong performance against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday, where he scored
01:35a season-high 22 points, which included making his first three-pointer of the season, and grabbed
01:43seven rebounds. Looking ahead, Williams, who will be a restricted free agent after this season,
01:49made it clear he wants to stay with the Suns for the long term.
01:53It's somewhere where I would want to be. Since I've been here, it's felt super inclusive, he said.
01:59This staff has done a great job putting a plan in place, keeping me on the floor this summer,
02:03preparing my body to endure a full season. Since I've been here, I've been feeling good,
02:08and feel like I'm producing, and I am only going to continue to get better. It's been great here.
02:13Williams also praised his teammate, Dylan Brooks. Williams added that Dylan Brooks has been crucial
02:20to the Suns' success this season, and his energetic approach has rubbed off on the whole team.
02:25When you're on the other side, of Brooks, you're like, oh my gosh, we're playing this guy again,
02:31like you hate to play him, but when he's on your team you love him, Williams explained.
02:35He continued, his energy is super infectious. He makes you want to play harder. He's bringing
02:41that intensity every single night. His competitive edge is something you want on a team. So,
02:47do you believe he has found his long term team in Phoenix?
