02:26Two fighters today have very inflated records.
02:29They have a lot of names and they're undefeated.
02:30But the bottom line is that two fighters don't meet the same similar record.
02:35Very, you know, two fighters at this stage of the game need to fight each other.
02:39Go back to the old school.
02:40Earn a world title rather than get a world title.
02:43Okay, Diaz is from the West Coast.
02:46This will be his first trip professionally inside the boxing ring on the East Coast.
02:51Let's take a look at the table of tape for this lightweight battle
02:53between Julio Diaz and Usto Sencion, both fighters a young age of 21 years.
03:01It's Sencion with the one-inch height advantage,
03:03but Diaz comes through with the one-inch reach advantage.
03:06Both fighters making weight for the 135-pound mark,
03:10and tonight when they stepped on our unofficial scales,
03:13it's not weights that we received from the New York boxing commission.
03:16We obtained these weights ourselves this evening.
03:19It is Diaz at 141 and Sencion at 140.
03:24New York City, are you ready?
03:31The first warrior entering the ring tonight,
03:34representing New York by way of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.
03:40Give it up for Hunda Sensational Sencion!
03:48Week 2
03:49Week 3
03:51Week 3
03:53The third warrior is powerful.
03:55If you have strong enough to Johnny,
03:57that means you can go ahead.
03:58You two will be strong enough to win,
04:01but you are not pressing all hope is a weapon,
04:04and you do not pressing all hope.
04:05And now we have strong enough to keep his victory.
04:08Enjoy!
04:09Oh
04:39Ustam Sencion giving us a taste of his major love outside the boxing ring.
05:08Ustam Sencion came to the U.S. in 93 to join his father Fermin, who doubles as his trainer so Ustam could face the best competition out there, Kevin.
05:19Tonight, he's facing one of the best in a sport. Tonight, I think this fight here is going to make a break-in.
05:25He has to come through tonight to prove that he deserves a spot in the upper echelon of the top ten.
05:31And his opponent, representing California, in this East Coast vs. West Coast match, New York, please welcome Julio the Kid Diaz!
05:51The Kid Diaz!

09:45His excellent professional record.
09:47A perfect 16-0.
09:49Ron Cops, to his credit, originally from Santo Domingo in La República Dominica.
09:57And now, fighting out of the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan,
10:02ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Justo.
10:05Sensacional!
10:07Sensacional!
10:08Sensacional!
10:26Rick, Rick, Rick, you take it.
10:28Rick, you got it?
10:33No.
10:36No.
10:36I think we're ready now.
10:57Michael Ortega waving both fighters in.
10:59Gentlemen good luck to both of you.
11:01Touch them up.
11:03All right so let's take a look and see who our internet audience believes will win the
11:10fight.
11:11There you see it 64 percent.
11:14Thank Julio the kid Diaz will come out victorious taking on Usto Sencion.
11:20We should see an array of talents from these two fighters.
11:23Both fighters are switch hitters they can switch it up from the southpaw stance.
11:27Diaz much more conventional Sencion likes to come from a number of different angles.
11:33And just as we thought Kevin Diaz and Sencion right in the middle of the ring from the
12:00set.
12:01It's all about respect early.
12:02Each man trying to get a fill in the ring nobody trying to explode too early.
12:07Stay back relax and just see what comes.
12:19One two baby.
12:20One two.
12:21One two.
12:22One two.
12:23Both fighters starting out in the conventional stance.
12:26Yeah.
12:27Quick counter that time by Diaz.
12:30Beautiful guys.
12:31The biggest thing is don't take any chances unless you have to.
12:34It's only a first round.
12:35There you go.
12:36Still got second round third round.
12:37This is a 12 round contest.
12:38Reaches back.
12:39Lunges with the left hook and then catches Diaz with another left hook.
12:55No respect baby.
12:56No respect baby.
12:57Keep going.
12:58Keep going.
12:59Keep going.
13:00Keep going.
13:01Get a reason baby.
13:02No respect baby.
13:03There you go.
13:04There you go.
13:05Looking at the record Diaz has a higher percentage of knockouts.
13:12But like I said it depends on who you're knocking out.
13:15But here on the record he has a higher knockout rate.
13:18There you saw what can happen with the unorthodox form of Uso Sencion.
13:24A little off balance and he fell into a right cross counter from Diaz.
13:30Still unorthodox moves sometimes are very dangerous because somehow he finds some balance when
13:37he's unorthodox and that's very dangerous for Diaz.
13:46The one thing that Uso is doing right now is a mistake.
13:49He steps back when Diaz attacks.
13:51He just got hit with a left hook.
13:52That's a very bad mistake.
13:53They call it a cardinal sin.
13:55He has winds up unloads the right cross partially blocked by Sencion.
14:08Diaz is going to overhand right over the drop left hand of Sencion.
14:15Sencion is leaving his right his left hand low and Diaz is coming over the top with a straight right hand.
14:20Diaz shows good technique, keeps both hands up high.
14:25There you see now we switched to the south half stand.
14:27Oh, they're going.
14:41Yo, you're not in the KO Nation chat room yet.
14:45You better get there fast.
14:46Because, believe it or not, the champ, Sheamus Sheamus Mosley, is dropping in.
14:50Yo, I won't lie to you.
14:51If you don't take my word for it, log in and find out for yourself right now.
14:54You got to let it go, baby.
14:55You got him one time, one in the right here and then one in the bottom.
15:00You got to be a little bit more busy, okay?
15:04Avoid those three jazz in a row.
15:06One, two, three.
15:07Go one back straight.
15:08Move to the side.
15:09You know what I got to do.
15:10He has a lot of respect for you.
15:11Have no respect for him.
15:12He has a lot of respect for you.
15:17He has a lot of respect for him.
15:21He has a lot of respect for him.
15:26Look at me.
15:28Go for the sleep.
15:29Go for it.
15:38Our CompuBox punched at numbers, showing Diaz landing 9 of 44 total punches for 21 percent.
15:46Sencion 6 of 52, which is 12 in the opening round.
15:50First thing, Sencion has to be a little bit busy over his jab right now.
15:55He stopped on looping punches, so Diaz throws straight shots, and his shots are getting there
15:59first.
16:00You look closely at the trunks of Usto Sencion.
16:06On the left side, you'll see a rose.
16:09His mother's name is Rosa.
16:10She's only seen him fight once in person back in San Domingo.
16:15And on the back of his trunks, on the right side, you'll see 45 Martinez.
16:23His inspiration, Boston Red Sox pitcher Pedro Martinez, who came from the same city, San Domingo.
16:33And he told us yesterday that Pedro has shown, and Pedro's brother Ramon, that anything's possible if you work hard.
16:40Anyone who knows anything about baseball knows that Pedro Martinez, arguably the best pitcher in the game.
16:46He leads the American League right now with 45 strikeouts.
16:49The major thing here is fun to see.
16:51Diaz is setting up that overhand right with that little lackadaisical jab.
16:54There he goes right there.
16:55Of course, Sencion is leaving his left hand very low by its wayside.
17:00So you have to really watch out for that overhand right.
17:10There goes that overhand right.
17:12Diaz throw again.
17:13He's throwing it over the top, and he's landing it very effectively.
17:16I want to see how the fight goes on that will take much more of an effect on Sencion.
17:25He has content to stand right in the center of the ring.
17:39Fire away short, compact punches.
17:44Sencion, when he's most effective, he lunges in.
17:47But, Kevin, as you mentioned, that can be dangerous.
17:50Because Diaz is setting up a straight right hand for him.
17:52You can see it.
17:53He's using his left jab as a tool to get his right hand in.
17:58Because Diaz, because Sencion's leaving his left hand very low.
18:02Very, very low.
18:13Big right counter by Usto Sencion.
18:16But the fact that both men undefeated, you can't tell either man that they can be beat.
18:29On May 14th, the premiere of Real Sports with Brian Gumbel.
18:44It's been almost 25 years since Kermit Washington tacked Rudy Tomjanovich in a basketball game.
18:50Brian Gumbel talks with Washington about the punch and its aftermath.
18:54Real sports.
18:55Nothing is out of bounds.
18:56Real sports.
18:57Nothing is out of bounds.
19:01that handpile will take that hold.
19:02Got it.
19:03One, three players, the players!
19:04Ah!
19:05One, three players.
19:06I watched multiple teams.
19:07At point two would take a flower and shoot more.
19:09One, nine, ten-Jo.
19:10Two are the players, but they never know whether they'd like them died.
19:11In their real forms.
19:12Thatlocutor of theか means that concentration of those Stickers will get inmate!
19:13Oh!
19:14One, two, three, three three!
19:15Very Mario!
19:16Two, three man!
19:17You have to throw his jabs!
19:18Yeah!
19:19Yeah, okay?
19:20Yeah!
19:21Okay?
19:22You have to throw his jabs!
19:23Come on!
19:24Keep throwing that right hand, Johanna!
19:25He painted this right hand!
19:26Yeah.
19:27Okay?
19:28It's Diaz with the higher knockout ratio of the two fighters, but as their careers are
19:47prolonged, they've jumped in the ring with stiffer competition.
19:51Both fighters in their last two fights went the distance.
19:53Diaz facing Juan Macias.
19:56He went 10 rounds.
19:57Bernard Harris, he took on in March.
20:00He went 10 rounds there.
20:02Sencion, two eight-rounders, Joseph Figueroa and John Trigg.
20:08So stamina might not necessarily be a problem, as you can see, both fighters patient.
20:13They're starting to warm up, though.
20:14Well, he started very slow, and Sencion's starting to find himself with his jab.
20:19Diaz starting to go backwards.
20:20I believe Diaz, watching tapes of him, is a very forward fighter.
20:24He fights forward much better than he does backwards.
20:26He's got a very loopy and very wide right hand.
20:44Diaz told us that he only looked at one tape of Usto Sencion.
21:00And from that one tape, he deduced that while he had power in both hands, he made a lot of mistakes.
21:07Left himself wide open.
21:08He felt to be able to capitalize on that.
21:11Diaz's brother, Antonio, told us what makes Julio so special is he can adapt quickly inside the ring.
21:20As you see, he's getting off here in the third round.
21:25Like I said, he fights better forward.
21:27Diaz is fighting forward.
21:28He's much more effective.
21:29But when Sencion gets him going backwards, then Diaz is not effective at all.
21:36Sencion now fighting out of the southpaw stance.
21:39He's going to town with that left hand, the straight left hand, but you have to watch out for the straight right hand.
21:58That's one major punch that lefties get hit with.
22:00There's that looping left hand by Sencion.
22:27Sencion, a quick scrape of a counter by Diaz, Sencion's smile.
22:30So, okay, I'll give you that.
22:46All right, still to come.
22:47You are looking live at Guyanese waltzerweight champion Andrew Sixthead-Lewis
22:53as he gets ready for his first title defense on the line against Larry Marks.
22:58That's coming up next.
23:05This is the fourth round.
23:08You've got to come up, okay?
23:09You've got to make him work.
23:10You've got to make him...
23:11He's not going to get to the sixth round if he can keep going to where you're going.
23:16Come on, keep it up.
23:18He's afraid of you.
23:19You've got to go after you've got to go, okay?
23:22All right, let's bring in our unofficial ringside score with Julie Letterman.
23:45Julie, how do you have it through three?
23:47I've got two rounds to one, 29 to 28 for Julio Diaz.
23:51You know, the Jazz is not a factor here.
23:53Oh, the referee's now warning Sencion for using his shoulder.
23:57You know, the Jazz isn't a factor, I believe.
23:58There's a lot of room between the two fighters.
24:00It's what happens on the inside.
24:02Diaz lands those short hooks to the body and real close with harder punches,
24:06and that's why he's winning the fight.
24:07Diaz, 21-0.
24:22Been fighting professionally two years as of Sencion.
24:25Diaz, though, has been in from a sparring perspective.
24:28Some pretty big names.
24:29Floyd Mayweather Jr., Diego Corrales, Angel Manfredi.
24:33There's a two-trade power shot upstairs.
24:40But he says his most effective work comes with his brother, Antonio.
24:49You see that Sencion is switching from left to the right of your lap.
24:52He's going to go straight up ten.
24:54He does it every time.
24:55And you see if Diaz has not picked up on it yet.
24:57He walks into it.
24:58I think it's hit by.
24:59He definitely corrects his style.
25:00So that's one thing that's working for Sencion, but there's no Jeff.
25:04There's no nobody here trying to implement an attack.
25:30He's got some bad habits, but he's not working effectively for him right now.
25:55He's got to start getting back to his jab.
25:57Effectively backing Diaz up to take away the forward motion of Diaz because Diaz now is picking the pace up.
26:04There is blood on the left side of Sencion's face.
26:10He's not sure it's caused by a cut from Sencion's or blood from Diaz's face.
26:18I believe it's coming from the nose of Sencion.
26:20That's what I believe it's coming from.
26:21He has a bloody nose and a couple of shots that he's taking, a power shot from Diaz.
26:28Who wants control, Kevin?
26:29He's not going to last.
26:54You keep throwing those punches, it's not going to last.
26:59You keep following him, just keep chasing him, keep the rhythm.
27:02No way.
27:03Don't let him back him.
27:04Respira pa la boca.
27:06You can throw this face when you're getting okay there, güey.
27:08You can do this fight.
27:10No me está llamando más.
27:11Muéveme más ya.
27:12You got to move that jab.
27:13You got to throw that jab.
27:15Then go down to the body hard, as hard as you can.
27:19Jab, jab, jab, and repeat that jab.
27:22Move your head.
27:23A little more punches, baby.
27:28That's it.
27:29Come on.
27:37You heard Fermin Sencion in the corner, imploring his son to deliver more jabs,
27:47and then to set up the body attack.
27:49Combined, they've landed only 16 of 230 jabs, according to our CompuBot's punch stat numbers.
28:00Well, the one thing that Sencion doesn't want to do is dig a hole.
28:03He's starting to be behind rounds, and he has to play catch-up.
28:06Right now, I got him behind the two rounds, and he needs to start picking it back up to make the fight even, at least, unofficially, of course.
28:16Both fighters lunge in.
28:29Both deliver strong right hands.
28:33D is going to put a punch together very well.
28:36Fighting head shots.
28:38He's got a great punch in power, as you can see.
28:40Michael Ortega warning Sencion, keep him up.
28:55A left hook below the belt line.
28:57Sencion comes upstairs with a big left hook.
29:03Kevin, there's no doubt Sencion puts just about everything he has into his power shots.
29:07Yeah, but what happens is, right now in this fight, it seems to be that quality is starting to win over clients.
29:13Sencion throwing hard power shots, but the busier to his Diaz, and that, I believe, influences judges' minds,
29:19because he's landing more effective punches than Diaz.
29:22Oh, my shit.
29:28Just on ring gentlenesship, Diaz going forward.
29:33He's backing Sencion up at times.
29:35Sencion is trying to retreat, and he's not effectively punching aggressively.
29:40Kevin, what would you do with a fighter like Sencion, who obviously has a lot of raw talent, but there are some loose edges.
29:47The major thing he has to do, he has to go out to jab a lot more effectively.
29:50I would tell him to back up the man with your jabs.
29:53And when you get the man's back, they can do your big power shots.
29:57And Sencion is throwing a power shot from the outside.
29:59You never need to throw a power shot from the outside, because you're just getting caught yourself.
30:09You should be close when you land power shots.
30:11That's my advice would be, Sencion.
30:13He's outside throwing wild, looping punches, and that's very, very dangerous.
30:17Part of the mistakes package that Diaz pointed out to us that he thought he would be able to exploit.
30:24Finally, this evening, Olympic prospect Miguel Cotto took on Wakilimi Young.
30:48It was a four-rounder, and Cotto looked sharp.
30:55Cotto's in the red, white, and blue touch.
30:57Young in the black.
30:58Cotto's starting to heat up the action, and in the fourth round, Young had had enough.
31:05It was a unanimous decision.
31:08Going to the victor, Miguel Cotto improves his record to 3-0 with two knockouts.
31:13And that's knockout dancer Ayanna Van Putten, a native of the Hawaiian Islands.
31:23Well, the percentages of punches landed, not very high, 17 for Diaz, 13 for Sencion.
31:46But Diaz has the edge in power shots, 34 to 20, and that is what the judges are looking for.
31:57Like I said, Diaz is the busier to.
32:00Sencion's waiting for one big power shot.
32:03Nice work to the body by Antonio Diaz.
32:06Diaz.
32:21Diaz's going to be very effective, very aggressive.
32:24I believe now his attack is fine to work.
32:28Both of these fighters, very mature for their age.
32:31Sencion does a ton of charity work here in New York City.
32:35We talked to Diaz yesterday about this being his first fight on the East Coast.
32:40He said, look, I've gone to all my brother's fights, including Antonio Diaz.
32:43He was here for the Shane Mosley fight.
32:45He says he's been around the big fight atmosphere.
32:48He would not be nervous as he stepped into the ring tonight.
32:50He certainly hasn't shown it.
32:52Well, he's definitely not nervous.
32:53I mean, he's a comfortable pressman.
32:54He's from a fighting family.
32:57Sencion now.
33:00Doing work inside.
33:01Fight!
33:01There's a thing that Sencion did well.
33:05He ran the combination and he went backwards.
33:07That was the wrong thing to do.
33:09He should have hit the line for the combination and went forward.
33:12He started getting Diaz in the back of his heels.
33:13He's going to get a very good game plan right now.
33:26He's going to go forward, he's going to implement a jab, body attack.
33:30You know, we'll see later rounds how that body attack that he has put to put Sencion earlier
33:34will slow him down.
33:37He'll be slowing down.
33:38Fight!
33:38Please, come back!
33:40And at what point, Kevin, since both fighters are concentrating on power shots,
33:45as you see an exchange right there, do they get tired from throwing the heavy lumber?
33:53Well, we'll know a little later on.
33:54It appears to be also, I'm just noticing a cut on the left eye of Diaz,
33:57on the top portion of his eye, a little tiny nick.
34:01And I noticed in the fighting abuse, he did have a nick over his eye.
34:05They say he's been cut before, and it was happening by head,
34:07but it appears to open the game.
34:12They say Diaz was cut in his eighth professional fight.
34:17And Sencion goes down.
34:29It's the first time Ustol and Sencion has ever been knocked down.
34:32And you cannot be saved by the Bells as the sixth round number of close.
34:46How you feeling, all right?
34:48Fabian, you okay?
34:49Are you okay?
34:50Sencion, you okay?
34:52Sencion.
34:52Sencion.
34:53Okay.
34:53You okay?
34:54Okay.
34:54Here we look at the punch, I believe that put Sensacion down, it was a very good shot.
35:24Man, a good combination here, his other angle at the same punch has landed, we get the chance to see, I believe it was that body shot there, it seemed like it was going down underneath, a rib shot that dropped Sensione.
35:39You know what it looks like though, Kevin, that the body shots that have been poured on throughout the course of the fight finally had their effect, because it didn't seem like there was one definitive shot there that sent Sensione down.
35:53It looked like he hit him kind of in the screen, kind of around the corner of the back there, and like I said, the accumulation of shots, we are in round 7, and he's going to land that body shot from round 1.
36:05I think Sensione should also go through the body now, and try to slow down Diaz a little bit.
36:15Nice, crisp, short left hook that time from Diaz, Sensione tries to lunge back, the straight left cross.
36:24Diaz, Diaz is doing something very smart, he's jabbing and he's going to the body, where Sensione lands a good punch and then he doesn't throw anything else, he's waiting for the receipt as they call it in boxing.
36:33He hits, and then he waits for the receipt.
36:34He hits, and then he waits for the receipt.
36:36Right there, Sensione should be jabbing effectively at Diaz, trying to back Diaz up.
36:52Diaz is initiating the action, bringing a fight to Sensione, and I'm very amazed he's not going back downstairs where he was most effective.
36:58A lot of switching up for Sensione, between the conventional stance and the southpaw stance, doesn't seem to be affecting Diaz at all.
37:17Sensione's still throwing one power shot at a time, and going backwards.
37:21Instead of, you know, I think a jab, throwing two or three power shots, and stepping to the side.
37:26That's what he needs to do in this fight.
37:36Sensione seems to have caught his second win, though.
37:40They got a very effective left hook again by Diaz.
37:43He's going downstairs.
37:44Sensione's going downstairs and bringing shots up.
37:46Nice right-hand counter from Julio Diaz.
37:50Look at that one power shot again by Sensione.
37:53That's not effective.
37:54He needs to throw the power shot, and come back to the jab, and step around his knee.
37:58Oh!
37:59A big right hand to the midsection of Usto Sensione.
38:03And Sensione is down for the second time in the fight.
38:06Seven!
38:07Eight!
38:08Nine!
38:09Give me gloves.
38:10Give me gloves.
38:11You all right?
38:12You want to continue?
38:13Come here.
38:14Walk to me.
38:15Mario contrast over here, defensive strobe.
38:23Diez down.
38:2415 seconds left in the round.
38:25If he points in front, keep him in front.
38:28Yes!
38:29PHITIC!
38:30Can he finish Sensione?
38:32give him some water give him water
39:01I don't care about take a look at the knockdown believe it was a spray you see the name since
39:18y'all miss a shot as they were punching on the inside they're gonna straight right into
39:22the body it was a perfect of hard shot here's another look at the same body shot since y'all
39:29missus and dear come up the middle of the knee and down goal sent you
39:34diaz starting to turn it up as we hit the eighth round a 21 to 7 edge in power shots let's bring in
39:46julie letterman julie how do you have it through seven six to one in rounds but 69 to 62 for diaz
39:53and points let me tell you that body work is absolutely incredible I mean the judges we
39:57don't count punches brand we feel punches and we can feel all those body shots being so close and
40:02that's why diaz is winning this fight you most certainly can diaz a monster with that right hand
40:09Kevin you can sense the confidence level of julio diaz increasing he's fighting the fight he wants
40:32to fight you can see he's going in a little bit more aggressively the major reason that diaz is
40:38winning this fight right now tonight because he's going to the body and his body work early in this
40:43fight is paying off for him now he has spoken up the midsection essentially on and it's working
40:47he's also throwing in twos and threes essentially on one power shot at a time
41:01this jab is very ineffective you have to rule out that job such as much more effectively exactly as
41:11he's got nothing done he's done he's done he has many supporters from the washington heights section of
41:17madhattan here at the hammer stein ballroom pretty quiet right now wanting more to cheer
41:24about well then none of them get hit with that body shot either let me tell you that so you know
41:29that body shot is tremendous and most fighters have to get hit with a headshot and knock out with a headshot
41:33any day then a body shot it's very but it hurts very badly
41:37give sensei own credit though after taking a knockdown in the sixth and seventh rounds
41:46he comes right back
41:48the fact clean
41:53it doesn't want to get back to this fight he's got a thought back in the is that with that job
42:03if he keeps throwing with that job diaz going to keep punching to the bodies and keep walking right
42:08through that job short crisp right hand that time from diaz connects to the head of sencion and now diaz
42:16sensing that he's staggered sencion comes in with more power shots gets through with a right cross to the head of sencion
42:22great boys by julio diaz here to end the eighth round
42:37hey if you want to know how much those body shots really hurt jump into the ko nation chat room right now and talk to angel man freddy he's in there the lightweight contender in fact he KO'd Arturo Godi's
42:52in the eighth round of 98 you can ask him what he thinks about julio diaz right now on hbo ko nation hop on board
43:04heavyweight champion hasim rahman on the phone telling one of his boys about that body shot we will talk to the heavyweight champ
43:12rahman after the conclusion of diaz sencion
43:21just keep being smart okay baby
43:24great
43:31we'll know
43:34okay
43:35you
43:37a
43:38exact
43:43Usto Sencion has been past the eighth round just one time.
43:54Back in June of last year, taking on Felix St. Kitts.
43:59Sencion won the fight in ten rounds.
44:13Sencion now going two and three power shots, but he's stepping backwards.
44:16Every time he steps backwards, it allows Diaz to go forward.
44:19Like he just did, he stepped backwards, there he goes again.
44:22He needs to pop the jab and go left or right, not straight back on the line.
44:33Down goes Sencion, and Diaz double clutches on his left hook.
44:39Five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.
44:48Julio Diaz earning a knockout in the ninth round over Usto Sencion,
44:55handing Sencion his first loss.
44:57Diaz improving to 22-0, 16 knockouts.
45:02This kid's for real.
45:04What a tremendous body function.
45:06I believe most Mexican fighters call the gaucho punch is what he throws over and over.
45:11It's that left hook to the body.
45:13It's a tremendous punch.
45:15And the effect of the early attack is what took its toll.
45:19Just don't pay attention earlier, and that's the point that took him out.
45:22Here we take a look at the knockdown.
45:40It's a double shot, a head shot, and a body shot.
45:42Hope I can throw a body shot first, then the head.
45:45Diaz did it differently.
45:46Here go the same punch again, body shot, see the effectiveness of it,
45:50handling it all night.
45:52This time he ended the fight with it.
45:53I've seen Rachman offering his congratulations.
46:03And there you see Antonio Diaz in the olive suit,
46:06giving his younger brother a huge hug.
46:08We mentioned that Diaz comes from a fighting family.
46:22Three older brothers were all boxers.
46:27Well, the brothers being a boxer, like I said, you know,
46:30you see he learned an awful lot.
46:31He's a little more polished than his family members,
46:33because he learned a lot.
46:34All right, let's send it up to ring announcer Jones
46:37for the official particulars.
46:40Ladies and gentlemen,
46:42the end comes by way of knockout.
46:45One minute, 10 seconds of the ninth round for the winner.
46:50His record now goes to 22-0 with 16 KOs.
46:54Julio the Kid deal!
46:56Oh!
46:57Oh!
46:57Oh!
46:57Oh!
46:57Oh!
46:57Oh!
46:57Oh!
46:58Oh!
46:58Oh!
46:59Oh!
46:59Oh!
47:00Oh!
47:01Oh!
47:01Oh!
47:02Oh!
47:03Oh!
47:03Oh!
47:04Oh!
47:04Oh!
47:04Oh!
47:09Oh!
47:09Alright, so let's take a look at the final punch hand numbers
47:12as Julio Diaz scores his 16th knockout of his career,
47:18knocking down Ustos Encion.
47:21And there you see the fighters threw about the same number of punches.
47:25Diaz landed, though, more than twice in total punches.
47:30Let's take a look at the power punches.
47:32We talked about the importance of that,
47:33what the judges would be looking for,
47:35and it's Diaz landing nearly three times more power punches
47:39than Usto Sencion, handing Sencion his first loss,
47:44the first time Sencion was knocked down in his career.
47:50Salud, Conchera!
47:54And I'm joined now by Julio Diaz.
47:57Julio, we talked about your patience.
48:00You were going to come out and see what Sencion had to offer.
48:03You talked about his style being a little wild,
48:05but you made him pay tonight with the body shots.
48:07Exactly.
48:09See, I've been studying him for a while,
48:11and I noticed that every fighter he's been fighting,
48:13everybody's intimidated by him.
48:15That's why they don't go in and stay there and work in the body.
48:18See, I wasn't afraid of him, and I took it to him from the beginning.
48:22Are you surprised, though, that he was able to hold on for so long
48:25because it seemed like your attack was strictly with power punches,
48:28didn't throw that many jabs?
48:30Tyler Troutreau wasn't a surprise.
48:31He's a young fighter, and I knew he had a lot of heart.
48:34And I just had to break him down little by little.
48:36And I want to give thanks to KO Nation, HBO, Bob Barrow,
48:40and say hi to everybody, Coachella, my mom, my wife, my kids.
48:44And I want to dedicate this fight to a good friend,
48:47Eric Cervantes from Mecca, California.
48:49Rest in peace.
48:50And I want to give a holler to Kenito Drake from Detroit.
48:53All right, Kenito Drake you sparred with.
48:55We talked before the fight about the fact that you're taking a fight
48:58that typically fighters don't take at this stage of their career.
49:01Both of you guys were undefeated.
49:03You were held as a top prospect.
49:04What does this do for your career, Julio?
49:06This is everything.
49:07I was worried about this fight, only this fight.
49:10You know, because this is a 50-50 fight.
49:13He's young.
49:14He was undefeated.
49:15To me, this was the toughest fight.
49:17You know why?
49:17I've always said I'm going to be the best because I work to be the best,
49:20and I think I deserve it.
49:22You know, that's why I never ducked nobody.
49:24And, you know, I want everybody out there.
49:25Spadafora, Castillo, I want everybody.
49:28All right.
49:28And I work hard for it, and I'm learning my way out there.
49:30Congratulations, Julio.
49:32Your trainer, Lee Espinosa, says that you may be the most talented
49:35of all the Diaz brothers, and you put on a fine performance tonight.
49:38Congratulations.
49:39Thank you, baby.
49:39He is.
49:40All right, well, just one week ago,
49:42the boxing world was shaken visibly.
49:45In the heavyweight division in Johannesburg, South Africa,
49:50Hasim Rahman was able to dethrone heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis.
49:57You're looking at action from the fifth round.
50:00Rahman connecting with the right hand, Lewis Dunn,
50:03and then Rahman having Lewis on the run.
50:07The first right hand floored the heavyweight champion.
50:15Shades of over 11 years ago when Buster Douglas took out Mike Tyson.
50:22Earlier this past week, the celebration continued
50:24in Rahman's hometown of Baltimore, Maryland.
50:27But there you see Rahman was riding in a car with his family
50:31and a cab broke through the police escort right there.
50:35The first question I want to ask you, is everybody okay?
50:38Yeah, definitely everybody's okay,
50:39considering nothing serious, too serious.
50:43Everybody's home recuperating.
50:44Let's talk about what you did one week ago in South Africa.
50:48Have you gotten over the surprise that you are the new heavyweight champion?
50:52It was never a surprise to me.
50:53You know, we expected to go there and win this title.
50:56And I'm accepting, you know,
50:57all that goes along with the heavyweight championship,
50:59including defending it against whoever.
51:02Okay, let's talk about who you're going to defend it against.
51:04There are a couple of options.
51:06Lewis says that he has a rematch clause in his contract,
51:08but you necessarily don't have to fight Lewis next.
51:11You could opt for Mike Tyson.
51:12You could opt for another fighter.
51:14Who would you like to fight, I say?
51:15Well, it really doesn't matter.
51:16I mean, the only two names that really mean anything to me
51:18is Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson.
51:21So between those two, six in one hand,
51:23it really doesn't make me a difference.
51:26Who would you feel your style, though, is most complimentary to beat?
51:30Tyson, you haven't fought, obviously.
51:31Lewis, you were able to defeat him.
51:33Do you feel that you'd rather see Lewis again up first,
51:36or would you rather see Tyson?
51:38Well, I think they both equal.
51:40They both have their own strengths and weaknesses.
51:42So, you know, even me and Lennox can get it on again.
51:45Or me and Tyson, I feel like either way, I'm going to fight both of them.
51:48So it really don't matter who's first.
51:50You've been in the underdog situation before.
51:52We're going to take a look at who our Internet audience believes would win a fight,
51:56a rematch between you and Lennox Lewis.
51:58And there you see 65% to 35%.
52:00But I'm sure the numbers would have been a lot more drastic
52:03before last week's fight when you took on Lennox and you rocked him
52:07and took away his two belts.
52:09Well, we know the odds don't mean anything.
52:12I mean, I've said him once,
52:13and I think I'm perfectly capable of upsetting him again.
52:17Hasim Rahman, you rock the heavyweight division,
52:19and you rock boxing.
52:20Congratulations, and we'll see you down the road.
52:23Thanks.
52:24Still to come, special musical guest,
52:27Rough Rider recording artist Eve,
52:29is live on KO Nation.
