Many residents of Kyiv say they don’t believe free, fair elections can take place anytime soon — citing ongoing war, security risks, martial law, and the lack of safe conditions across Ukraine. Even as political leaders talk of possible elections, everyday citizens voice fear and uncertainty. The question remains: how can democratic processes resume amid active conflict and instability?
