Palace: Marcos pushes anti-dynasty bill, other priority measures to stop abuse of power
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is pushing for the proposed anti-dynasty bill and three other measures to stop the abuse of power and strengthen Filipinos’ rights to choose their leaders. In a press conference on Dec. 10, 2025, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stressed the importance of the proposed Anti-Dynasty Bill, Party-list System Reform Act, Independent People’s Commission Act, and Citizen Access and Disclosure of Expenditures for National Accountability Act, citing shifts in the country’s political environment and growing public clamor for fairer governance. Castro said the public demanded 'a fairer system.' 'The President wants to let the people know that you have a choice — one based on merit, not just because you share the same surname,' she added. In 2022, Marcos, as a presidential aspirant, said that there was nothing wrong with political dynasties, saying politics was all about performance.

01:20What motivated the President, ma'am, to finally push for the swift passage of these bills?
01:49Public demands a fairer system.
02:10Next question, Ana Delicia Bal. GML News Online.
02:16Morning, ma'am.
02:18Ma'am, what prompted the President to support the anti-dynasty bill given that when he was still a presidential aspirant,
02:24he said that there's nothing wrong with political dynasties.
02:28Ma'am, let me just read what he mentioned in January 2022.
02:32Why would you make political dynasty illegal?
02:36Paano kung yun ang gusto ng tao?
02:38The perception is political dynasty is bad, which is not the case.
02:41You are targeting a very specific group in society.
02:44Ang politika naman is all about performance.
02:47If you're worried about dynasties, then take everybody to an election.
02:50So ma'am, we know what changed his mind.
03:16How does the President define dynasty?
03:18And what are the provisions does he intend to see in the measure?
03:22And confident ba ma'am yung palas na
03:25this bill will be pushed in both chambers of Congress
03:29given na we know for a fact that some lawmakers
03:32actually hail from dynasties?
03:34Kaya nga ang bilhin ng Pangulo,
03:36aralin itong mabuti
03:37para maging tama ang definisyon ng dynasty.
03:42Thank you, ma'am.
03:43Next question, Tristan Nadal.
03:45Good morning, Yusek.
03:49Lubabas din po kamakailan,
03:51well, from former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque,
03:57ay may information po sila about an ICC warrant
04:00against Senator Ronald de la Rosa.
04:03If it truly exists,
04:05is the palace prepared to enforce it and how?
