A fresh controversy has erupted at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) with vigilance officials uncovering a massive silk dupatta scam estimated at over ₹54 crore. The report reveals that between 2015 and 2025, a contractor supplied approximately 15,000 dupattas billed as silk but confirmed by labs to be polyester. This follows recent scandals involving adulterated laddus and theft from the hundi. An unidentified speaker on the programme commented on the situation, urging the administration to 'put your house in order' rather than communalizing the issue, noting that the individuals involved are 'more or less Hindus'.
